<p>The British government is set to spend over $9.8 million (£8 million) supplying free portraits of King Charles III to public council offices, courts, schools, police forces, fire and rescue services. The scheme has been unveiled to celebrate the reign of the new king who took charge after the death of Queen Elizabeth II last year.&nbsp;</p>

<p>The Cabinet Office justified the decision to spend the money on the exercise saying the posters would serve as a 'visible reminder' to the public about the splendour of their new king.&nbsp;</p>

<p>The scheme will kick in after the king's coronation is scheduled to take place later this year. After the official posters are released by Buckingham Palace, the eligible public authorities will be offered the opportunity to request the free framed portrait.&nbsp;</p>

Donald Trump's arrest delayed yet again; reports claim indictment could take weeks

<p>A Black student in Japan was separated from other students of his class at the graduation ceremony because he was not wearing his hair in accordance to the strict rules in place. The student had reportedly plaited his hair into cornrows to pay tribute to his Black heritage.</p>

<p>The student, who has not been named, was made to sit alone at the back of the hall during a graduation ceremony at his school in Himeji, about 570 km west of Tokyo. He was reportedly told not to stand and respond when his name was called out.&nbsp;</p>

<p>The 18-year-old is the son of an African-American father and Japanese mother. He told Japanese media that he had plaited his naturally curly hair to make them look neater for the graduation ceremony. The boy added that he&nbsp;learned about the cultural significance of cornrows online and from his father.</p>

<p>"I wasn’t able to create happy memories to mark the three years I spent at the school with my friends,"&nbsp;he told the Mainichi Shimbun. "I was frustrated because I felt like I was being told, ‘This is not your special day.’ The hairstyle represented my father’s roots and culture in the Black community."</p>

He was reportedly told not to stand and respond when his name was called out. The 18-year-old is the son of an African-American father and Japanese mother. He told Japanese media that he had plaited his naturally curly hair to make them look neater for the graduation ceremony. <p>Over 13 summers ago, Coral Amayi lost her digital camera while rafting in a river in the western US state of Colorado. Little did she know that a good samaritan in 2023 would not only find her camera but also return it - with the photo memories still intact.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Spencer Greiner, a local hobby fisherman embarked on a fishing trip on March 14 in the Animas River. While walking around, Greiner stumbled upon the camera -&nbsp;rusted and looking beyond any salvation.</p>

<p>However, he picked up the camera anyway and decided to give it at least one try before discarding it away.&nbsp;</p>

<p>"I was walking along and saw it sticking out of the sand. It was in rough shape, so I really didn't have any hopes of getting anything off of it, I was just planning to throw it away, and then curiosity got the best of me, and I had to see what was on it,"&nbsp;Greiner was quoted as saying by local media reports.&nbsp;</p>

<p>"I was like, Yeah, this is probably not going to work at all. But I plugged it into the computer, and it read immediately and I was like, Oh cool, let's see what sort of treasures we're going to find on this memory card."</p>

<p>Greiner stated that he recovered photos of a&nbsp;tubing trip, a wedding, and a bachelorette party on the card. Intrigued that it could be the memories of a person, he posted the photos&nbsp;in a Colorado Facebook group on March 15.</p>

Lika, who had crossed the English Channel in a small boat last year was offered £100 a day to live at the 'cannabis growing' property.&nbsp;</p>

<p>After the locksmith got suspicious, he informed the police. Later in the afternoon, the police converged on the property and began a thorough search operation. The police soon found out that in at least six rooms, over 200 plants of cannabis were being grown, in what Hopkins termed a 'sophisticated operation'.<br />

<p>Miners in the Central African country of the Democratic Republic of Congo had a narrow escape after a gold mine collapsed, leaving several men trapped inside it. A video now going viral on social media platforms shows nine miners popping out of the mine while one of their daredevil colleagues, defied the odds by digging with his bare hands to rescue them.&nbsp;</p>

<p>The video starts with two men standing at the face of the artisanal mine located in South Kivu province with debris and rock falling from above, indicating there had been a landslide, following heavy rain. The first man, using a shovel manages to keep the mouth of the mine open while a trapped miner makes his way out with the onlookers cheering wildly.&nbsp;</p>

<p>As soon as the first miner comes out, the other person leaps and begins dredging with his hands to ensure that the others can make it out in time. Soon another one appears, and then another and astonishingly nine men make it out alive and well within the next two minutes.&nbsp;</p>

The first man, using a shovel manages to keep the mouth of the mine open while a trapped miner makes his way out with the onlookers cheering wildly. As soon as the first miner comes out, the other person leaps and begins dredging with his hands to ensure that the others can make it out in time. Soon another one appears, and then another and astonishingly nine men make it out alive and well within the next two minutes. <p>Cambodia last reported the sighting of a tiger in 2007 when it was caught on a jungle camera trap. After India successfully translocated a batch of African cheetahs last September, a&nbsp;memorandum of understanding was also signed with Cambodia in November to assist with the reintroduction of tigers in the Southeast Asian nation.&nbsp;</p>

<p>“The translocation of our tigers to Cambodia is under consideration. This has never been done in India before, although we have been translocating tigers within the country as and when it has been required," said&nbsp;S P Yadav,&nbsp;member secretary, National Tiger Conservation Authority, referring to the translocation of tigers from Corbett (Uttarakhand) to Rajaji National Park.&nbsp;</p>

<p>“We’ve sent a delegation there [Cambodia], they’ve sent a delegation here. We are examining the situation in Cambodia to see if tiger translocation can be done."</p>

<p>The officer added that in order to make the translocation possible, the authorities are studying if the factors that led to the extinction of tigers in the first place were resolved or not.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Next month will mark the 50th anniversary of Project Tiger which began in 1973 at the Corbett national park. Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi is expected to attend a conference in Mysore and laud the efforts of wildlife conservation activists and officials involved whilst releasing tiger census data for 2022.&nbsp;</p>

<p>A man in the US aboard a Delta Air Lines passenger plane was arrested after opening one of the aircraft's doors and sliding down the emergency exit slide. The incident transpired on Saturday when Delta Flight 1714 was preparing for takeoff from Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) to Seattle, according to the local authorities.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Los Angeles Airport Police in its report stated that an unidentified passenger wearing a striped sweater and black pants rushed to the flight attendant as the plane was pushing towards the runway. Taking a brief halt, the passenger asked the flight attendant, "what do I do now?"</p>

<p>When told to go back and sit on the seat, the passenger ran from the attendant and went straight to the plane's emergency exit doors. Before any of the attendants could stop him, the passenger opened the emergency gate by turning the latch, activating the plane's emergency slide in the process.&nbsp;</p>

<p>The plane was immediately stopped by the pilots as the man jumped onto the back of a baggage cart.&nbsp;The Delta staff initially nabbed the passenger before handing him over to the LAX Police.</p>

<p>According to reports the passenger has&nbsp;been taken to a local hospital for a mental evaluation while the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) was notified about the accident.&nbsp;</p>

<p>"Airport Police responded and detained the passenger for further investigation. Due to the circumstances, FBI was notified," LAX Police was quoted as saying by Fox News.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Raghvendra Singh, who calls himself the ‘Helmet Man of India’, is quite famous&nbsp;on the internet for his campaign to&nbsp;make&nbsp;people aware of the importance of wearing a helmet while riding a bike, reported Zee News.&nbsp;</p>

<p>In a video that has now gone viral,&nbsp;Singh is seen wearing a helmet while driving a car as he signals the man riding a bike&nbsp;sans&nbsp;helmet. Singh tells the man that he has been chasing&nbsp;him for a long time as he was riding without a helmet.&nbsp;</p>

<p>A mysterious and deadly fungal infection called Candida auris is spreading its tentacles across the USA at a rapid speed, the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) tracking the fungus informed. The development comes on the heels of the World Health Organization last year listing C auris as one of 19 fungal priority pathogens.</p>

<p>The multidrug-resistant yeast was first identified in Japan 15 years ago. It has infected as many as 2,377 people in the US in 2022, according to the Wall Street Journal. New research by the CDC published in the Annals of Internal Medicine shows that in 2021, the health centres in the country reported a 95 per cent increase in cases between 2019 and 2021. For comparison, the fungus had only infected 53 people in the US in 2016.</p>

<p>Additionally, a total of 28 states and the District of Columbia have confirmed reporting the infections - suggesting the current safety measures were not effectively helping tackle the fungus.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Both WHO and CDC have labelled the fungus as a growing threat to public health as it has&nbsp;a mortality rate of up to 60 per cent. People who are old or have compromised immune systems are particularly more vulnerable after contracting the fungus.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Services will not be able to resume quickly as badgers are protected animals in the European country. To move&nbsp;them from their burrowing space or disturb their habitat requires legal permission. Only after that, the repair work can be undertaken by the railway authorities.&nbsp;</p>

<p>"In the interests of travellers and carriers, more space is needed to take action more quickly. We are of course in urgent consultation with the Ministry of Infrastructure and Water Management about this."</p>

<p>Notably, this is not the first instance when these little animals have brought the rail services to a halt. Earlier this month, the badgers took to burrowing under the tracks of the northern village of Molkwerum in Friesland province.</p>

Twitter users are being targetted by crooks impersonating banks or banking officials, according to a New York Post report.&nbsp;</p>

<p>When a user posts a complaint related to their bank account by tagging the bank (say @ICICI or @Wellsfargo), the scammer posing as the customer service representative approaches them.&nbsp;</p>

<p>The scamster usually quote tweets the original tweet and gives a helpline number to the user. Once the customer takes the bait and calls on the number, the scammer manages to collect private information such as login credentials to access the user's bank account.</p>

<p>Thanks to Elon Musk's newly launched Twitter Blue subscription service, scammers are able to buy the blue checkmark and trick customers into believing that the particular Twitter account is the legit and official handle of the company.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Similarly, American pharmaceutical giant Eli Lilly lost billions after its stock plunged following a tweet by a fake, verified account posing as the company. The account tweeted that Eli Lilly, one of the largest producers of insulin in the world was selling it for free. Before the error was rectified, over $15 billion in market cap was erased.&nbsp;</p>

Twitter users are being targetted by crooks impersonating banks or banking officials, according to a New York Post report. When a user posts a complaint related to their bank account by tagging the bank (say @ICICI or @Wellsfargo), the scammer posing as the customer service representative approaches them. The scamster usually quote tweets the original tweet and gives a helpline number to the user. Once the customer takes the bait and calls on the number, the scammer manages to collect private information such as login credentials to access the user's bank account. Thanks to Elon Musk's newly launched Twitter Blue subscription service, scammers are able to buy the blue checkmark and trick customers into believing that the particular Twitter account is the legit and official handle of the company. This is not the first instance where Twitter has been used by pranksters and scammers. Last year, after the rollout of the blue checkmark subscription service, a Twitter user impersonating basketball player LeBron James demanded a trade from NBA franchise Los Angeles Lakers. Similarly, American pharmaceutical giant Eli Lilly lost billions after its stock plunged following a tweet by a fake, verified account posing as the company. The account tweeted that Eli Lilly, one of the largest producers of insulin in the world was selling it for free. Before the error was rectified, over $15 billion in market cap was erased. <p>"Prime Minister Narendra Modi has an unusual nickname on the Chinese internet: Modi Laoxian. Laoxian refers to an elderly immortal with some weird abilities. The nickname implies that Chinese netizens think Modi is different – even more amazing – than other leaders," he said.</p>

<p>On India's relationships with other nations, he stated that whether it is Russia, the United States, or countries in the Global South, India can have peaceful relations with all of them, which is "very admirable" to certain Chinese netizens.</p>
