<p>Sunspot AR3310, a black area on the sun facing us, has grown large enough that it can be seen without a telescope, and is almost four times the size of earth. South Korean astronomer Bum-Suk Yeom shared a chart of the sunspot, comparing its size to that of earth.</p>

<p>"A giant sunspot is crossing the sun's disk, and I could see it clearly with solar glasses," said Yeom, per spaceweather.com, adding: "Caution! You must use eclipse glasses or solar filters to protect your eyes."</p>

<p>Researchers in Switzerland demonstrated implants that allowed a "digital bridge" between Oskam's brain and spinal cord, bypassing injured regions, in a report published on Wednesday in the journal Nature.<br />

Oskam, 40, was able to stand, walk, and scale a steep slope with the use of a walker thanks to the discovery. &nbsp;He has preserved these abilities more than a year after the implant was put and has even shown evidence of neurological healing, walking with crutches even after the device was turned off.</p>

<p>“We’ve captured the thoughts of Gert-Jan, and translated these thoughts into a stimulation of the spinal cord to re-establish voluntary movement,” Grégoire Courtine, a spinal cord specialist at the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology, Lausanne, who helped lead the research, said at the press briefing.</p>

<p>The brain-spine interface, as the researchers dubbed it, used an artificial intelligence thinking decoder to interpret Oskam's intentions — observable as electrical impulses in his brain — and connect them to muscular movements in the latest study. The scientists then used a machine-learning programme to see which areas of his brain lighted up when he attempted to move various portions of his body. <p>The researchers then used another algorithm to link the brain implant to the spinal implant, which was programmed to transmit electrical signals to various regions of his body, causing movement. But the co-op board voted to move the nest, which led to widespread outrage among New Yorkers. The then Mayor Tyler Moore, a resident of the building, also protested the decision, which led to its reversal and addition of a metal "cradle" to support future nests.&nbsp;</p>

<p>“We apologise for the delay in paying this claim and in particular, the initial wait for an inspector’s visit, which took too long and fell short of our usual standards. We have a duty to all of our members to ensure we validate the cost of claims and in this instance, we needed to gain further assurance around the costs involved in repairing the damage," the insurance company said.</p>

<h2><strong>Fire brigade thought it was a hoax call</strong></h2>

<p>Last year in July, both&nbsp;Andy and Lynette Smith were left shocked when they saw the muscular animals, each weighing over 600 kg, escape from a&nbsp;breeds farm and arrive on their property. The herd was able to escape the farm after an electric fence failed and they were able to scale a wooden fence and hedge separating the field from Smiths' garden.&nbsp;</p>

<p>“When my wife went to make the morning tea, she glanced out of the kitchen window and saw eight buffaloes in the pool,” said Andy Smith.</p>

<p>“She called 999 and was told the fire brigade doesn’t accept hoax calls. It took some persuading to get them to take us seriously. When they arrived, one of the buffaloes, spooked by their hi-vis jackets, headed straight at them.”</p>

<p>As per&nbsp;an independent audit, the supply of graves for the Armenian and Antiochian Orthodox religions will run out in three years, the supply of graves for Muslim funerals would run out in four and a half years, and the supply of graves for the Eastern Orthodox faith will run out in four and a half years.</p>

<p>Burial is the sole internment method used by Muslims and Orthodox faiths.</p>

‘Grave’ situation in Sydney: Largest city in Australia to run out of burial space?

<p>A 56-year-old man was arrested&nbsp;upon arrival at Bengaluru's Kempegowda International Airport (KIA) on Tuesday (May 16) afternoon.&nbsp;He was arrested because he was smoking a <em>beedi</em>,&nbsp;a locally made cigarette&nbsp;in which tobacco is rolled into dried plant leaves,&nbsp;aboard an Akasa Air aircraft from Ahmedabad to Bengaluru.</p>

<p>The man,&nbsp;a native of Marwar junction in Rajasthan's Pali district, has been sent to the Bengaluru Central Jail. This is KIA's first arrest for smoking a <em>beedi</em>.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Earlier this year, KIA police arrested two passengers for smoking cigarettes aboard a plane. Kumar, who works in construction, told police that he is self-employed and that this was his first time flying.</p>

<p>A senior police official emphasised that failing to identify smoke during security frisking is a major lapse, reported Times Now.</p>

<p>"Cigarettes are easily detectable. The only explanation for such an incident is a failure in the frisking process," the officer stated &nbsp;as quoted by Times now.&nbsp;</p>

<p>In the prior two incidents, the accused were well aware of the rigorous no-smoking ban on aeroplanes yet were nevertheless found smoking. According to an investigating officer, Kumar, as a first-time traveller, claimed to be uninformed of the no-smoking regulation.</p>

<p>"Kumar is a laborer from Marwar. He was accompanying an elderly person who was traveling to the city for a post-death ceremony of a relative," the officer explained.</p>

<p>"Since I regularly travel by train and smoke inside the toilet, I thought I could do the same on the flight and decided to smoke a beedi," Kumar confessed to the police.</p>

<p>The man was onboard an Akasa aeroplane (flight&nbsp;Q) bound for Bengaluru when the crew spotted him smoking inside the bathroom. The airline's duty manager, lodged a complaint against him&nbsp;with KIA police shortly after arriving at approximately 1:10 p.m.</p>

<p>According to a senior police officer, once detained, the accused must spend at least one week in court custody. "Smoking in midair poses a risk to everyone," the officer emphasised.</p>

<h2><strong>Unruly passengers on board</strong></h2>

<p>Smoking, including the use of e-cigarettes, is forbidden on flights in India, according to The Aircraft Rules of 1937. However, a number of violations have been recorded around the country in recent days.</p>

<p>Indigo and Air India both reported passengers who were found smoking in restrooms in early March. A 24-year-old female passenger on a Bengaluru-bound IndiGo flight was detained for smoking in the restroom. The cabin crew noticed the cigarette in the garbage and doused it with water. A passenger smoking inside the lavatory of a Delhi-bound flight had been discovered by Air India personnel the day before. The cabin crew had detected smoke coming from the lavatory even before the fire alarm went off, reported Live Mint.</p>

Under an IBM health plan, the IT professional earns more than 54,000 pounds (US$67,300) each year and is assured to do so until the age of 65.&nbsp;</p>

<p>However, the employee said that the health plan was ''not generous enough.''</p>

<p>Additionally,&nbsp;Clifford went on sick leave for the first time in September 2008 and remained so until 2013, when he filed a grievance. In response to his complaint, IBM offered him a 'compromise arrangement' in which he was placed on the company's disability plan rather than being fired. A person who is unable to work is not fired, but rather remains an employee with ''no obligation to work'' under the plan.</p>

<p>An employee on the plan has a 'right' to receive 75 per cent&nbsp;of agreed wages until recuperation, retirement, or death, whichever comes first. In his case, the agreed-upon compensation was 72,037 pounds, which meant that beginning in 2013, he would be paid 54,028 pounds each year after deducting 25 per cent.</p>

<p>However, the Food and Drug Administration has authorised Palforzia, a powder that may be combined with food such as applesauce, yoghurt or pudding, for children aged 4 to 17. Similarly, the powder is intended to reduce the chance of severe allergic responses in children by gradually raising their tolerance to peanuts.</p>

<p>The Viaskin trial, however, is the first to study a non-oral option for the 0-4&nbsp;age category.</p>

<p>According to Dr&nbsp;Pharis Mohideen, chief medical officer of DBV Technologies, the purpose of Viaskin isn't to get children to tolerate peanut-butter-and-jelly sandwiches or to entirely eradicate an allergy.</p>

<p>“We’re trying to build a protective layer for them so that if there is an accidental peanut exposure, they won’t have a reaction, or that reaction will be very mild and not send them to the emergency room,” he told NBC news.</p>

<p>The disease is caused when the blood vessel that transports blood from the brain to the heart does not mature properly.&nbsp;The abnormality causes an excessive volume of blood to flow through the veins and heart, stressing them and perhaps causing a chain reaction of health issues.&nbsp;</p>

<p>"Tremendous brain injuries and immediate heart failure after birth are the two big challenges," Dr&nbsp;Darren Orbach, a radiologist at Boston Children's Hospital and expert in treating VOGM, told&nbsp;CNN.</p>

<p>He described the condition in detail, stating that in most cases, newborns are treated using a catheter to insert small coils to reduce blood flow. The treatment, nevertheless, often takes place too late.</p>

<p>"Despite advancements in care, "50 to 60 per cent of all babies with this condition will get very sick immediately. And for those, it looks like there's about a 40 per cent mortality rate. About half of infants that survive experience severe neurological and cognitive issues," Orbach said.</p>

<p>When doctors discovered Baby Denver's rare blood vessel abnormality in the brain during a routine ultrasound, she was still developing normally inside her mother's womb, reports CBS News. At Brigham and Women's Hospital and Boston Children's Hospital, an operation was performed to treat the "Venus of Galen malformation," a rare brain disorder, reported CNN. The disease is caused when the blood vessel that transports blood from the brain to the heart does not mature properly. The abnormality causes an excessive volume of blood to flow through the veins and heart, stressing them and perhaps causing a chain reaction of health issues. "Tremendous brain injuries and immediate heart failure after birth are the two big challenges," Dr Darren Orbach, a radiologist at Boston Children's Hospital and expert in treating VOGM, told CNN. He described the condition in detail, stating that in most cases, newborns are treated using a catheter to insert small coils to reduce blood flow. The treatment, nevertheless, often takes place too late. "Despite advancements in care, "50 to 60 per cent of all babies with this condition will get very sick immediately. And for those, it looks like there's about a 40 per cent mortality rate. About half of infants that survive experience severe neurological and cognitive issues," Orbach said. When doctors discovered Baby Denver's rare blood vessel abnormality in the brain during a routine ultrasound, she was still developing normally inside her mother's womb, reports CBS News. Heart failure or brain injury are common in these babies, and they frequently don't survive. Denver's heart was compromised and the abnormality had grown to a potentially dangerous size. As a result, at 34 weeks of pregnancy, a team from Boston Children's and the Brigham was able to treat her malformation while she was still inside the womb. They did this with the aid of ultrasound guidance, an amniocentesis-style needle, and tiny coils that were inserted right into the abnormal blood vessels to reduce blood flow. What is a Vein of Galen malformation? Vein of Galen malformation (VOGM) is a kind of uncommon blood vessel abnormality that can occur inside the brain, according to Boston Children's Hospital. In VOGM, abnormally shaped arteries in the brain connect with veins directly rather than through capillaries. A rush of blood at high pressure enters the veins as a result.
