<h2><strong>What is 'sextortion'?</strong></h2>

<p>The US Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) defines 'sextortion' as a "serious crime" in which a perpetrator threatens to make public their victim's private information, images, videos or other data. This includes nude images, and more often than not, is done as a way to extort huge sums of money.</p>

<p>Reportedly, on Snapchat, the issue began popping up more frequently around the beginning of 2021.</p>

<h2><strong>How does 'sextortion' work?</strong></h2>

<p>It's a financially motivated fraud. Do you remember the "Nigerian Princes" who around 20 years ago would email people asking them for "small help"? These days, those emails, and messages from bad actors posing as Nigerian royalty are nothing more than meme material and something that can be used to poke fun at the older generation.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Similarly, sextortion is the latest fraud. In it, similar bad actors target young, gullible men. Posing as attractive young women from the United States or Western Europe, these fraudsters send their victim&nbsp;friend&nbsp;requests.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Over time, they establish trust and eventually start requesting nudes. Once the victim sends the personal images, these "sextortionists" threaten to post these images online.</p>

<p>Threatening to expose the victims' nudes, they extort money.&nbsp;</p>

<p>As per the Fox News report, the former Snapchat employee told them that in some cases, the scammers paste their target's nude images on fake "FBI Most Wanted" posters. They list them as sex offenders, paedophiles, child rapists and murderers.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Incidentally, as per him, these new scams also mostly originate from Nigeria. However, he says,&nbsp;"It's pretty much understood that when we report this stuff, it's not going anywhere. The FBI doesn't have enough leverage with Nigerian authorities. Nigerian authorities don't have enough resources to do it, anyway."</p>

<h2><strong>Why target young men?</strong></h2>

<p>Simply put, "Young men are not used to this at all."</p>

<p>As per the former Snapchat employee, "They're targeting young men because young men are most likely to fall for this type of scheme."</p>

<p>He further remarked, "Also, young men are not used to&nbsp;being targeted like this."</p>

<p>According to the Fox News report, compared to young men, young women are not so easy to scam through this method. As young girls, they are taught to be cautious while talking to strangers online.&nbsp;</p>

<p>In cases where they do become a victim of sextortion, it is mostly about sexual content. They are mostly forced to send more sexually explicit content. However, young men face fraud where money is demanded from them.</p>

<p>Such abuse can have a huge devastating impact on young victims, especially teenagers, who do not know what to do or who to turn to for help.&nbsp;</p>

<h2><strong>Extreme, tragic steps by victims</strong></h2>

<p>In some cases, victims of such sextortion scams end up taking extreme steps. Fox News reports that, in some cases, young people have been known to resort to self-harm and suicide.</p>

<p>Last year, Jordan DeMay, a 17-year-old teenager from Michigan, took his own life after falling prey to sextortion. On 25 March 2022, the high school student was found dead with a self-inflicted gunshot wound.&nbsp;</p>

<p>On Instagram, he was approached by scammers posing as a young woman under the account alias "dani.roberts".</p>

<p>As per Fox News, the account was real, and it belonged to the real Dani Roberts, but was hacked. DeMay's nudes were used to leverage money, but once the young boy found himself unable to cough up any more money, he chose to end his life.</p>

<p>In another similar case, Gavin Guffey, the 17-year-old son of South Carolina state representative Brandon Guffey, killed himself after falling prey to a sextortion scam.</p>

<p>Back in July 2022, the young man was tricked by blackmailers posing as a young girl. After sending a nude picture, he faced extortion.&nbsp;</p>

<p>As per a report by UK-based Independent, the recent high-school graduate ended up sending the scammers $25 by Venmo. This was all the money young Gavin Guffey had in his account.&nbsp;</p>

<p>He reportedly begged the blackmailers for time to raise extra money but was only pushed. Under pressure, the teenager chose to kill himself with a self-inflicted gun wound.</p>

<p>Even after his death, the sextortionists reportedly kept up their efforts to extort his family. As per a CNN report from May 2023, Representative Brandon Guffey reported that the messages started just weeks after the 17-year-old's funeral. On August 20, the day young Gavin Guffey would've turned 18, the blackmailers sent his father a message which said, 'Did I tell you your son begged for his life,' with a laughing face emoji.<br />

<p>According to a report in The Philadelphia Inquirer, the school officials had previously instructed students to inform their families that cheering or applause would not be permitted for individual students when their names were called.&nbsp;</p>

<p>However, Abdul-Rahman stated that an assistant principal had told the girls just before the ceremony that they could showcase their personal style while walking.</p>

<p>Despite this, when Abdul-Rahman briefly danced over to the principal, Mesi claimed that she had caused laughter in the crowd and, as a result, would not receive her diploma.</p>

<p>Abdul-Rahman's grandmother, who initially shared a video of the incident on Instagram, acknowledged that the graduates and attendees had been instructed to maintain silence."Everyone respected that," she wrote.</p>

<h2>W<strong>hat we know about the tablet</strong></h2>

<p>The stone tablet dates back to the Assyrian empire and is marked with the insignia of Shalmaneser III, the Assyrian king who ruled the region of Nimrod (present-day northern Iraq), from 858 to 823 BC. The text on the tablet is said to be written in cuneiform which is the Babylonian alphabet.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Shalmaneser III is said to be one of the greatest Assyrian Kings in the Assyrian state in the north of Iraq “which is of great importance for several reasons,” said the Iraqi Minister of Culture, Ahmed al-Badrani speaking at the Baghdad presidential palace.&nbsp;</p>

<p>He also went on to explain how during the Sumerian civilisation, clay tablets were used as it was easier to write on them but the Assyrian civilization used to engrave stones which is much more difficult to do.&nbsp;</p>

<h2><strong>From Italy to Iraq stone tablet returned</strong></h2>

<p>It was not clear how Italian authorities agreed to handover the stone tablet back to Baghdad except it was given to Iraqi President Abdul Latif Rashid during a visit to Bologna over the past week.&nbsp;</p>

<p>“We have with us this important artefact, that was in Italy for a long time, we brought it back with us and are handing it over to Iraq’s national museum,” said Rashid, on Sunday, during the ceremony.&nbsp;</p>

<p>He added, “I would like to thank the Italian officials for their efforts and cooperation in bringing back this piece.” According to the Director of Baghdad’s council of antiquities and heritage, the tablet had arrived in the 1980s in Italy, where it was seized by police.&nbsp;</p>

<p>However, the circumstances behind its discovery were unclear, said al-Badrani. Speaking at the event, on Sunday, the Iraqi president also said that they would continue to work to recover all the archaeological pieces of Iraqi history from across the world. Notably, the country’s antiquities have reportedly been the target of looting which increased after the chaos following the United States-led invasion two decades ago.&nbsp;</p>

<p>A man who was headed to Dubai was detained on Thursday at Indira Gandhi International Airport after another traveller overheard him using the word "bomb" while on call with someone else.&nbsp;</p>

<p>A male traveller talking on the phone with someone on the other end overheard saying, "CISF removed coconut from my bag fearing it could be a bomb but allowed guthkha that was in my bag."</p>

<p>A senior official revealed that a passenger was taking a connecting flight from Mumbai to Dubai through Vistara Airlines flight number UK-941 (Delhi to Mumbai), which was scheduled for departure at 4.55 p.m.</p>

<p>“The passenger travelling to Dubai for the job was talking to his mother on the phone and the conversation was overheard by a lady co-passenger sitting next to him. He told his mother that CISF not allowed coconut in his bag fearing it could be a bomb but they allowed pan masala that was kept in his bag,” said the official.</p>

<p>The female co-passenger raised an alarm when she heard the word bomb, and the flight crew alerted CISF, as reported by ANI.</p>

<p>The woman boarded the aircraft freely after the passenger did. Despite a thorough search of the whole aircraft, nothing was discovered. Her travelling companion declined to get on the aircraft, so the woman purchased another ticket for Mumbai.</p>

<p>“In the process, the flight was delayed for two hours before it got clearance to take off. The male passenger was handed over to IGI police,” the official said.</p>

<p>The IGI police said that a case had been filed.</p>

<h2><strong>What is the DeSantis War Room video all about?</strong></h2>

<p>The video is a criticism of Trump's failure to fire Fauci, who was the United States' top infectious disease specialist at the height of the COVID-19 pandemic, back when he was the president.</p>

<p>Fauci's push for Covid restrictions, as per Reuters, worked to turn him into a "boogeyman" for many Conservatives. Among those criticising Fauci's policies was Trump. In October 2020, the politician went as far as calling Dr Fauci a "disaster" that has been around for "500 years".</p>

<p>However, in spite of the often public thrashing, Trump refrained from firing Fauci.</p>

<h2><strong>Is the video completely fake?</strong></h2>

<p>As per Reuters, the video apparently includes some real footage of the former US president's press conferences and interviews.</p>

<p>However, the fake AI-generated content is shown with impudence at the 25-second mark. Here, around five seconds of the 35-second video display six images of Fauci and Trump. In three of them, the two men can be seen hugging or kissing.</p>

<p>Talking to Reuters, Matthew Stamm, a professor of electrical and computer engineering at Drexel University, said that as per an analysis of traces left behind by synthetic image generators, the three images of Trump and Fauci kissing and hugging are likely AI-generated.</p>

<p>"Our results consistently output a decision that these images are fake," he added.</p>

<p>In her complaint, the woman said that she married Neel on August 29, 2022.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Due to strained relationship between the couple, they started residing separately from October 15, 2022.</p>

<p>The woman added that the accused created a mail id similar to her mail id and also procured a mobile number which was similar to her for the fake matrimonial account.&nbsp;</p>

<p>The accused took the screenshots of the identity proof&nbsp;and produced it before the court.</p>

<p>Additionally, it&nbsp;“Collected and sent stool specimens from gastrointestinal illness cases to the CDC laboratory".</p>

<p>A Celebrity Cruises spokesperson told FOX Business in a statement on Tuesday (June 6) that “the health and safety of our guests, crew, and communities we visit are our top priority".</p>

<p>“To maintain the highest levels of health onboard our ships, we implement rigorous safety and cleaning procedures, many far exceeding public health guidelines. Combined, these efforts allow us to maintain some of the lowest levels of community spread.”&nbsp;the spokesperson added.</p>

<p>The Summit’s round-trip journey, according to the website CruiseMapper, left Bayonne, New Jersey, before making stops in Bermuda, Charleston, South Carolina, Newport, Rhode Island, and Martha’s Vineyard, Massachusetts.&nbsp;</p>

<p>That ship departed from Fort Lauderdale, Florida, and made halts&nbsp;in the Cayman Islands, Aruba, Curacao, and Bonaire.&nbsp;</p>

<p>In the Constellation outbreak, 87 of its 2,062 passengers and nine crew members experienced the same norovirus symptoms during a voyage from March 6 to 17.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Two machines have been installed&nbsp;in the western coastal city of Ako, which is located in an area that seismologists predict is vulnerable to a large earthquake that is projected to impact the country's central and south-west Pacific coasts in the decades to come.&nbsp;</p>

<p>The machines, which carry around 300 bottles and cans of soft drinks and 150 emergency food items, including nutritional supplements, have been placed near buildings designated as evacuation shelters.</p>

<p>As per the Japanese newspaper&nbsp;Mainichi Shimbun, they are intended to "unlock" and make their contents available free of charge in the case of a severe rain warning or an evacuation order following a quake of an upper five or higher on the Japanese seismic intensity scale of seven.</p>

<p>Their contents must be paid for the remainder of the period, according to the newspaper.</p>

<p>"I've had full-blown interviews where [parents] are like, 'We're looking for someone to raise our kids,'" she said.&nbsp;</p>

<p>"They tell me they had kids to pass on their trust funds, [and that] 'I'll hang out with them after boarding school when they can drink," she added.</p>

<p>However, she said that working with billionaires has its own set of difficulties, particularly for a Black woman nannying white children. She stated that she must manage cultural situations with sensitivity or risk losing her job.</p>

<p>"I'll be in, like, Switzerland, and they're telling me they can't pay me for three weeks because they don't have cash,"&nbsp;Richards said&nbsp;</p>
