Tottenham Hotspur's Son Heung-min was named in South Korea's Asian Cup squad on Thursday and coach Jurgen Klinsmann said it was "about time" they ended their 64-year continental title drought.

Wolves forward Hwang Hee-chan, who scored his 10th Premier League goal of the season against Brentford on Wednesday, was also among Klinsmann's 26-man selection for the tournament, which kicks off&nbsp;in Qatar on January 12.

Son will captain a squad that includes Bayern Munich defender Kim Min-jae and 22-year-old Paris Saint-Germain attacking midfielder Lee Kang-in.

South Korea have not won the Asian Cup since 1960 and Klinsmann said: "It's all about timing now and I think we are ready for this big, big competition.

"It's 64 years -- 64 years is a long time for Korea. It's about time that we get this done."

South Korea have been drawn in Group E and will face Malaysia, Jordan and Bahrain in the first round.

They lost 1-0 to eventual champions Qatar in the quarter-finals of the 2019 Asian Cup in the United Arab Emirates.

Klinsmann, a World Cup winner with Germany in 1990, will have one of the strongest squads in the tournament in Qatar and he said he could "see it in their eyes that they are hungry for it".

"I have a good feeling because they're doing well at their clubs," he said.

"They're healthy, they're fit, they're ambitious and they're very hungry. This is the foundation for playing a good tournament."

Son will be appearing at his fourth Asian Cup and was part of the South Korea team that lost to hosts Australia in the 2015 final.

Hwang scored twice in Wolves' 4-1 win over Brentford to move one goal behind Son, who has 11, in the Premier League scoring charts.

<h2>'One of the favourites'</h2>

Lee is also making a splash after moving to Paris from Mallorca in the summer, and Klinsmann described him as "a flower that starts to bloom".

"We have a lot of different pieces in that roster and that makes us one of the favourites for the Asian Cup," said Klinsmann.

"We have to fine tune these elements over the next couple of weeks and then go into the tournament with confidence."

Klinsmann was unable to select Hwang Ui-jo, who has been suspended by South Korea because of a police investigation into allegations he illegally filmed an ex-girlfriend.

The Norwich City forward is accused of filming a sexual encounter with the former partner on his phone without consent. He denies the allegation.

"It's very difficult for us coaches to deal with that because it's not in our power," said Klinsmann.

It has been reported by ESPN, citing FA sources, that Haaland wasn't in breach of the rules on covering media comments and social media activity.

The team, however, has been found in breach of FA Rule E20.1 which pertains to the conduct of the players. The association issued a statement and has given two days to City to respond to the charge.

"Manchester City have been charged with a breach of FA Rule E20.1 after their players surrounded the match official during the Premier League fixture against Tottenham Hotspur on Sunday 3 December 2023.

"It's alleged that, during the 94th minute of the fixture, the club failed to ensure their players do not behave in a way which is improper.

"Manchester City have until Thursday 7 December 2023 to respond to the charge," read the FA statement.

City manager Pep Guardiola, however, had defended Haaland's reaction post-game and had said: "It's normal. His reaction was the same for 10 players. The rules are you cannot talk with the referees or fourth officials, so we should have had 10 players sent off today. He's a little bit disappointed."

With the draw, City slipped to the third place on the points table with 30 points in 14 games. City have won nine games from 14 played and have played three draws as well while losing only two.

Premier League: Scott McTominay's dramatic double lifts Man Utd as 10-man Spurs go top

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has called for a replay of the match that his team lost 2-1 against Tottenham Hotspur&nbsp;last weekend, owing to poor refereeing decisions involving the VAR (Virtual Assistant Referee).&nbsp;

Speaking ahead of his side's Europa League tie against Union Saint-Gilloise, Klopp said: “I think the only outcome for the Tottenham-Liverpool game should be a replay.”

The German manager, however, conceded that it was highly unlikely that such an outcome would come to fruition.&nbsp;

“It probably won’t happen. I think it is so unprecedented; it didn’t happen before.”

Klopp's demand comes a day after the Professional Game Match Officials Ltd (PGMOL) released the audio of the incident where Luis Diaz's goal was wrongfully chalked out by the VAR.&nbsp;

Klopp said the release of the audio should not mean the end of the matter, whilst accepting that it was an 'obvious mistake'.&nbsp;

“The audio didn’t change it at all. It is an obvious mistake. I think there should be solutions for that. I think the outcome should be a replay. The argument against that would be it opens the gates...I’m used to wrong and difficult decisions but something like this never happened and so that is why I think a replay is the right thing to do.”

Quizzed if the club had formally requested the Premier League for a replay, Klopp said: “At this stage, we are still going through the information we have."

Jurgen Klopp demands replay of Liverpool-Tottenham match after VAR chaos

Tottenham Hotspur manager Ange Postecoglou said he is not a fan of video assistant referee (VAR) as the system complicates matters, after his team benefited from an error by the officials in Saturday's clash against Liverpool.

The referee group Professional Game Match Officials Ltd admitted it had been the wrong decision to disallow Liverpool winger Luis Diaz's goal in the first half of the match in Tottenham's 2-1 home win, blaming human error.

"I think I'm on record saying that I've never really been a fan of it since it came in," Postecoglou, who previously managed Scottish Premiership club Celtic, told reporters after the game. Premier League champions Manchester City racked up a club-record 17th successive home win in all competitions with a 1-0 victory over Newcastle United on Saturday. A superb strike from Julian Alvarez sealed the points for Pep Guardiola's side, but the relief they showed at the final whistle said a lot about a strong Newcastle display.

City's win lifted them to six points from two games alongside Brighton and Hove Albion who earlier in the day thumped Wolverhampton Wanderers 4-1 away.

Manchester United were unable to join City and Brighton at the top of the fledgling table though as they went down to a 2-0 defeat at Tottenham Hotspur in what was Ange Postecoglou's first home game in charge of the London club.

Liverpool came from a goal down to beat Bournemouth 3-1 although ended the game with 10 men after Alexis Mac Allister was shown a red card on his home debut.

Brentford are now unbeaten in 11 successive London derbies after they cruised to a 3-0 win at Fulham who also finished with 10 men after Tim Ream was sent off after conceding a penalty.

Manchester City made light of the absence of Kevin de Bruyne, who had surgery this week after damaging a hamstring in the 3-0 opening win over Burnley. In their first home game since clinching the treble last season, City's stunning feat was honoured in grand fashion before kickoff at The Etihad Stadium.

City will be contending for multiple trophies again this season, but Newcastle showed why Guardiola has tipped them to be amongst the contenders for their Premier League crown. That said, City were comfortably the better side in the opening half in which Alvarez broke the deadlock with a powerful strike in the 31st minute after being picked out by Phil Foden.

On the flip side, Spurs are also ready to listen to offers for Tanguy Ndombele, Djed Spence, and Giovani Lo Celso in the remainder of the window. Spurs will start their Premier League campaign against Brentford on Sunday, August 13.

Damian Williams, US Attorney for the Southern District of New York, said the 86-year-old Bahamas-based Lewis furnished employees and lovers with inside information for years in a "brazen" scheme that raked in millions of dollars.

"Today I'm announcing that my office, the southern district of New York, has indicted Joe Lewis, the British billionaire, for orchestrating a brazen insider trading scheme," Williams said in a statement on Twitter, the social media platform undergoing a rebranding to X.

"We allege that for years Joe Lewis abused his access to corporate board rooms and repeatedly provided inside information to his romantic partners, his personal assistants, his private pilots and his friends.

"Those folks then traded on that inside information and made millions of dollars in the stock market, because thanks to Lewis those bets were a sure thing."

"None of this was necessary," Williams said.&nbsp;

"Joe Lewis is a wealthy man. But, as we allege, he used inside information as a way to compensate his employees or to shower gifts on his friends and lovers."&nbsp;

Lewis is reported to be one of Britain's richest men with a fortune worth an estimated $6 billion, building his reputation as a currency speculator in the 1980s and early 1990s.

Lewis's holding company ENIC bought a controlling interest in Tottenham in 2001 from then-owner Alan Sugar, another prominent British tycoon.

"I haven't had any assurances and I wouldn't expect any. With these type of situations you're never dealing with certainties. I can only go with what I know right now. Harry is part of the squad and looking forward to being back and part of the players."

Amid talk that Kane might be leaving Tottenham, ESPN reported that Kane has been told that he's not available for transfer this summer and the club doesn't plans to offload him either.

"He's in contention. I think he's a very lucky boy, he needed close to 10 stitches, a couple of big gashes on his head, but ultimately it was nothing too serious. It could have been - it was very close to being a serious injury - but thankfully for us it wasn't," Mason added.
