"Even those people who don't normally watch cricket follow the India vs Pakistan matches, so the pressure on the players is high but we will give it our best," he added.

It is important to note that Hasan was one of the star-performers for Pakistan in the CT'17 final versus India (returning with 3 for 19). Thus, he will look to replicate the same this time around when India-Pakistan lock horns in the forthcoming World Cup.&nbsp;

India and Pakistan's group also comprise New Zealand, Afghanistan and two other teams who will join from the qualifiers.

Dhoni, who retired from international cricket on August 15, 2020, has been roped in as team mentor for the marquee tournament to help Kohli &amp; Co. during the high-voltage event and guide the national side to their first ICC title win in over 8 years. "We have now finalised the squad, but we are yet to take a decision regarding Afghanistan," Sri Lanka cricket board secretary Mohan de Silva told AFP.

"We are aware of reports that some (teams) may boycott playing Afghanistan over the Taliban's position on women, but we are yet to take a decision on that," de Silva said.

'R Ashwin has been branded as a Test specialist which isn't right'

On Ashwin's inclusion: I think we all have branded Ashwin as a Test specialist. We shouldn't have done that. I can understand why he was getting picked. If you see the players who had replaced him, they were slightly better in other two departments, i.e. batting and fielding. He remains far better than all the other off-spinners in the country. But if you look at the others who replaced him, they were better in fielding and batting capacity. Overall, I think it is a great replacement.

Ashwin's record in T20 World Cup is exceptional (with 20 wickets in 15 innings in T20 WCs). Although he hasn't played limited-overs since 2017, he will still have the hunger and eagerness to prove that he belongs in this format. Australia's Usman Khawaja believes Justin Langer "deserves the opportunity" to coach the Australia cricket team in the T20 World Cup and also in the Ashes.&nbsp;

After several media reports suggested that players have wearied of his intense coaching style, putting the coach's position under&nbsp;greater scrutiny.&nbsp;

"He deserves the opportunity to coach Australia in the T20 World Cup, he deserves the opportunity to coach Australia in the Ashes," Queensland captain Khawaja said on his YouTube channel.

"If after all that, things are still not going well ... that is when you look at things and think 'OK, maybe do we need to change something?'"

The 36-year-old Karthik, who was a member of India winning the inaugural T20 World Cup in 2007, said it will be a close call Rohit Sharma and David Warner for the top run-scorer in the tournament. 
 
"Both of them open the innings. Both of them are solid players. I would put money on either one of them. Both are very hungry. Rohit Sharma and World Cups, they`re synonymous. They just love each other. They find ways to help each other out. If India are to do well he is somebody who needs to fire for them up top. David Warner hasn`t played cricket for Australia for some time now. A hungry David Warner is a scary David Warner. He will come all guns blazing. I`m expecting some big things from him." 
 
When asked about the teams in Group 2 who can enter semi-finals apart from India, Karthik said, "It`s going to be a close call for me between Pakistan or New Zealand. I would love to see Pakistan there but I do think New Zealand find ways to always punch above their weight. I think they`re a pretty well-rounded team and they have a great leader in Kane Williamson. A lot of the time a leader makes a difference in a World Cup." 
 
Karthik termed Netherlands to qualify alongside Sri Lanka from Group A though he felt Ireland might find a way too. "We have got to remember they (Netherlands) have a couple of players who consistently play in England. We have Ryan ten Doeschate, we have Roelof van der Merwe -- these guys are going to pose a threat to any opponent. And more so in the league phase. You play just three games, you go wrong in one and then you are against it throughout it." 
 
From Group B, Karthik identified Bangladesh to have the best chance apart from co-hosts Oman. "Bangladesh definitely has the best chance. They play spin well, they`re a solid team. I`m pretty surprised they even have to play this to qualify -- that`s how good they are. But if they have brought themselves here they`ve done something wrong over a period of time somewhere down the line. Bangladesh need to be very careful." 
 
He added, "The qualifier is happening in Oman, the home team -- so they will have an advantage as well. Let`s not forget they beat Ireland as well at the last (T20) World Cup so they`re not a bad T20 team. They have a few good players. If you want me to put money, I would put it on Bangladesh and I would love to see Oman do well." 
 
Karthik concluded by saying that mystery spinner Varun Chakravarthy could emerge to be the best bowler of the tournament. "My choice is a guy called Varun Chakravarthy. I feel he`s got something really special in him. If India goes all the way, I can promise you this boy that I`m speaking about will have played a major role in them moving forward in this tournament. Remember the name `Varun Chakravarthy`."

As per an official at the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), the ICC has set September 10 as the deadline for all countries taking part in the T20 World Cup to give the final list of 15 players and 8 officials.&nbsp;

"The ICC has also allowed all participating nations to bring additional players with their squads because of the COVID-19 situation and bio-secure bubble but the concerned boards will have to bear the costs of these additional players," he told PTI.

"The ICC bears the expenses of only 15 players and eight officials.'

The tournament will be held in Oman and UAE. It will be played between October 17 to November 14.&nbsp;

"It is now up to the boards to decide how many additional players they want to have with their main squads given the COVID-19 situation because if any player tests positive or they are injury issues, the teams can take replacements from their additional players."

According to the ICC, the countries can make last-minute changes in their squads until five days before the quarantine period for teams begins.

"But the boards have to send their squads by 10th September."
