<p>Police officials said that they found Jordan in a vehicle early on Monday (Feb 19) and took him into custody in Colorado Springs without incident.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Jordan hails from Detroit and is enrolled as a student at the University of Colorado - Colorado Springs, as per a university spokesperson.</p>

<p>The shootings looked like "an isolated incident between individuals who were known to one another and not a random attack against the school or other students," said the police, in a statement.</p>

<p>On Friday morning, the police department was called after shots were fired inside the dormitory of the university, Creston House, where the officials later found Knopp and Montgomery dead.</p>

<p>After the shooting, the officials issued a campus-wide lockdown for 90 minutes, and the university was closed for the day as well as through the weekend. The university authorities cancelled Monday classes as the school offered walk-in counselling.</p>

<p>As per the Colorado Springs Police Department, the victims were identified as 24-year-old Samuel Knopp of Parker, Colorado and 26-year-old Celie Rain Montgomery of Pueblo, Colorado.&nbsp;</p>

<p>ChatGPT, a very popularised chatbot created by OpenAI, was used by a professor at the University of Victoria in Canada to write a reference letter which a student needed to get a scholarship. The decision paid off well as the student was able to get the scholarship, reported The Atlantic.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Matt Huculak, who is the head of advanced research services at the libraries of the university, directed ChatGPT to pen down an "excellent" reference letter for a student who was then selected for a graduate programme at one of the "top-three" schools in Canada.&nbsp;</p>

<p>The student was not just selected but also offered a prestigious scholarship by the University of Cambridge soon later, Hucula said.</p>

<p>"Honestly, the ChatGPT generated letter was among some of the best letters I've read. It was concise, it used "concrete" examples, it spoke to the candidate's ability to collaborate with others," Huculak stated. &nbsp;</p>

<p>Huculak said that the final outcome left him pleasantly surprised. "What I wrote ended up feeling like the most 'human' and heartfelt letter I've written in a long time," he said.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Huculak stated that he used ChatGPT to write an original letter. He said that the professors generally recycle the reference letters they gave in the past and format them to suit the needs of a particular student, which can produce dull letters.</p>

<p>"A formula, per se, isn't bad," said Huculak. "But when a professor is invested in a student's success, you are always fighting the 'form' of expectations in order to show how unique your student is and why they will be successful at the institution to which they are applying," he added. &nbsp; &nbsp;</p>

"Honestly, the ChatGPT generated letter was among some of the best letters I've read. It was concise, it used "concrete" examples, it spoke to the candidate's ability to collaborate with others," Huculak stated. <p>"Prajapati burst a 'sutli' bomb cracker in his mouth when he was in the toilet at around 9 am. After hearing the sound, his family members rushed in. They shifted him to a hospital, where doctors declared him dead," the police official added.</p>

<p>The police registered a case of suicide and further investigation into the incident is being carried out. The student's elder brother Hridyesh said that his brother scored good marks in exams and was completing a B.SC course from a local college.</p>

<p>The police officials said that due to the bursting of a sutli bomb or hydro-bomb inside his mouth, his face was extensively damaged which lead to his death.</p>

<p>Recounting the horrific incident, the family members stated that they suddenly heard the sound of firecrackers bursting inside the household and hence, they rushed to the toilet.</p>

<p>When the door was broken with the help of neighbours, they discovered the lifeless body of the boy lying on the floor in a pool of blood and his face badly torn.</p>

<p>A matchbox and the remnants of the twine bomb were also found at the site of the incident. The gruesome sight left the family shocked and in disbelief.</p>

<p>The district hospital's civil surgeon Dr Dilip Singh Sikarwar, who performed the postmortem, stated that due to the twine bomb's explosion in the boy's mouth, there was significant damage caused to his nose, jaw and surrounding bones, which led to his death.</p>

India: Student, failing to pursue studies, commits suicide by bursting firecrackers in mouth

<p>With effect from 30 May 2023, the United States increased some nonimmigrant visa (NIV) application processing costs, making student and tourist visas more expensive, as per US State Department.&nbsp;</p>

<p>The application fee has gone up from $160 to $185 for visitor visas for business or tourism (B1/B2s), as well as other non-petition-based NIVs including student and exchange visitor visas.</p>

<p>For several petition-based nonimmigrant worker visas, H, L, O, P, Q, and R categories, the application fee has increased from $190 to $205.</p>

<p>H, L, O, P, Q, and R visas are for temporary workers, those who wish to visit the United States for employment that will last a set amount of time. There are several categories exist within them based on the nature of employment.</p>

<p>All other consular fees remain&nbsp;unchanged. No further fees will be assessed to applicants who have previously paid a valid and non-expiring visa application fee but have not yet appeared for their visa interview or are awaiting their case processing.</p>

<p>Any fee payment&nbsp;for a visa interview made on or after 1 October 2022 is valid for 365 days from the day the fee payment invoice was issued.&nbsp;</p>

<p>The validity of fees paid by applicants prior to October 1, 2022 will last through 30 September, 2023.&nbsp;</p>

<p>As per State Department, visa fees are determined based on the findings of an annual review of service costs. The majority of non-petition-based NIV costs last underwent an upgrade in 2012, while certain additional NIV fees underwent an update in 2014.</p>

<p>A nine-year-old Indian-American girl, Samedha Saxena, has made it to the list of ‘world’s brightest’ students of the United States-based Johns Hopkins Center for Talented Youth (CTY). The Grade 4 student from New York’s Battery Park City School, last year became one of the youngest students to qualify for the CTY global Talent Search Program at the age of eight. The results were based on an above-grade-level test by John Hopkins’ CYT in order to identify advanced students across 76 countries from over 15,000 students.</p>

<p>According to a press release by the university, Samedha was recognized for her exceptional performances at SAT, ACT, School and College Ability Test, or similar assessments taken as a part of the CTY Talent Search. Additionally, out of the 15,300 students who participated less than 27 per cent achieved high or grand honours as per their scores.&nbsp;</p>

<p>“This is not just recognition of our students' success on one test, but a salute to their love of discovery and learning, and all the knowledge they have accumulated in their young lives so far,” said CTY Executive Director, Dr Amy Shelton. She added, “It is exciting to think about all the ways in which they will use that potential to discover their passions, engage in rewarding and enriching experiences, and achieve remarkable things — in their communities and in the world.”&nbsp;</p>

<p>Last year, John Hopkins named Indian-origin teenager, Natasha Perianayagam, as the brightest student in the world after she took the CTY test in the Spring of 2021 as a Grade 5 student.</p>

<p>The 13-year-old student attended Florence M Gaudineer Middle School in New Jersey whose results in verbal and quantitative sections levelled with the 90th percentile of advanced Grade 8 performance, as per media reports. According to PTI, her parents who hailed from the Indian city of Chennai said that the teenager likes to doodle and read JRR Tolkien’s novels.&nbsp;</p>

<p>A Mississippi-based woman was left fuming after her son’s schoolteacher allegedly ‘humiliated’ him by giving a ‘zero award’ in the class.</p>

<p>“I think it was so horrible for him to get this award,”&nbsp;Patricia Buckley&nbsp;told local ABC outlet WAPT.</p>

<p>She said that her son Bradley, 14, received a demoralising certificate from his teacher at the Leake Central Junior High School in Leake County that read, “The 'zero' Award. It's impossible to be me. Don't try. You'll never find a solution.”</p>

<p>The distraught mom said she first realised something was wrong after she picked Bradley up from school and noticed that the award certificate was “balled up like he was ashamed.”</p>

<p>“I was feeling sad, and I didn’t really want to give it to her,” the student told the local news station.</p>

<p>When Patricia asked his dejected son, he replied that he was insulted in front of his whole class. His teacher is reportedly in their first year of instructing.</p>

<p>A fuming Patricia called the school office to find out more about the award and why it had been given out.</p>

<p>“I think it was so horrible for him to get this award. I’m going to do what I can do for this to never happen again. Not just to Bradley, but any child," Patricia said.</p>

<p>She then spoke to her Leake County Schools superintendent multiple times but is yet to hear any solutions.</p>

<p>"I don't know [why they did it]. That's why I called the superintendent's office to find out," Patricia said.</p>

<p>Bradley wants to return to the school, but the mother is considering enrolling him elsewhere following the incident.</p>

<p>School security and police tried to rescue the victim but were overpowered by the students, the reports said citing witnesses. &nbsp;&nbsp;</p>

<p>In a statement, police spokesperson Sanusi Abubakar said, "Students forcefully removed the victim from the security room where she was hidden by the school authorities, killed her and burnt the building." &nbsp;</p>
