However, Maxwell defended his signature shot and said that the shot is very much within the rules of the game.

"It is within the laws of the game. Batting has evolved in such a way, that it has got better and better over the years, which is why we see these massive scores are getting chased down and the scores are going up," Maxwell said when asked about Chappell’s comments after the ODI series which Australia won 2-1.

"And I suppose it is up-to-the bowlers to try and combat that," he said. "I know it is a big summer that we have and it is pretty jam-packed, but I don’t think Australian players should be resting after two games.

"Why are they resting? Is it because they played IPL? So they are allowed to go and play all these games in the IPL and then they need a rest because they have been playing in IPL.

Rajasthan Royals` mentor Shane Warne believes that if Sanju Samson has a consistent Indian Premier League (IPL) this year, then he will definitely play for India in all formats of the game.Samson has played two matches in this year`s IPL so far and has managed to score 159 runs.

In the first match against Chennai Super Kings, the right-handed batsman scored 74 runs while in the second game he scored 85 runs while chasing a target of 224.

In an interaction with ANI, Warne opened up about his expectations from the Royals` campaign this year and he also gave an insight as to how his role as a mentor will be different in IPL 2020.

Talking about Samson, Warne said: "Sanju Samson, I mean I have been saying it for a long time now, Sanju should be playing all forms of the game for India. He is such a quality player, he`s shown that class again in the first game and I hope he has a consistent tournament this year. If he has a consistent tournament this year I think you`ll see him representing India in all forms of the game."

"He`s just such a talented player, I`ve seen a lot of talented cricketers in my time but watching Samson bat, in the nets being around him, speaking to him over the years and now watching him evolve I mean he is something else. He is a very special talent and I hope he hits the international stage very soon," added the 51-year-old.

Warne has been involved with the Royals since the inception of the IPL and he also led the Rajasthan Royals to the title win in the inaugural season. The former Australian spinner was exceptional in grooming youngsters like Ravindra Jadeja and many Indian cricketers like Mohammad Kaif, Yusuf Pathan have talked about the leadership skills of Warne.

"I feel like I`ve got a spiritual connection with the Royals. Back in 2008, it was just such a wonderful time, and every now and then you connect and get involved with something that is super special and is magic. The squad we had in 2008 produced some magic and lifetime friendships. I love the Royals and have always been a Royals and grateful for the opportunity to be back working with the Royals in this capacity and I hope it continues. I hope there`s always a role for me here at the Royals because I`m passionate and just love Rajasthan Royals very very much," said Warne.

When asked whether the Royals` squad looks balanced as compared to other seasons in the past, Warne said: "I think the squad looks great, some great young talent, some experienced players, good variety in the bowling attack, power hitters and manipulators of the ball. Some good players of spin and pace, a good combination of left and right-handers. So, I think the squad is there, it`s about them being able to deliver."

"So if we can deliver our skills and I feel it could be the Royals` year this year in 2020. Hopefully, Ben Stokes would play a part this year, he`s a big loss and our thoughts are with him but you know add Ben Stokes to the team that played the other night and it looks a very very good side," he added.

Shane Warne’s baggy green cap has found home in the iconic Bradman Museum at Bowral in NSW Southern Highlands. Warne had auction his baggy green to raise funds for the bushfire appeal in January, 2020 when it was bought by the Commonwealth Bank for a whopping $1 million.

After being auction, Warne’s baggy green has toured all over Australia to boost spirits at schools, cricket clubs and community centres before the movement was stopped due to COVID-19 pandemic.

On Sir Donald Bradman’s birthday, on Thursday, the cap was housed in a collection of as many as thirty baggy greens dating back to the 1800s at the Bradman Museum.&nbsp;

“I live in the moment so sometimes you don’t think about the consequences and that was probably most of my trouble. I didn’t think what the consequences were or what effect it would have on other people.

Former Australian cricketer and one of the best spinners of all-time, Shane Warne on Tuesday picked his all-time XI in the Indian Premier League (IPL) consisting only Indian players. Warne was having a live session on social media platform Instagram where the legendary leg-spinner and former skipper of Rajasthan Royals named his all-India IPL XI.&nbsp;

Warne went with the opening duo of Rohit Sharma and Virender Sehwag with both the batters having incredible record and consistency in the cash-rich tournament. At number three, Warne named Team India and Royal Challengers Bangalore skipper Virat Kohli. Notably, Kohli is also the highest run-scorer in the history of IPL. Following Kohli, Warne picked Yuvraj Singh at number four with Yusuf Pathan coming in at number five.

However, Warne surprisingly named Siddharth Trivedi. The former RR pacer had once picked up the wickets of Sachin Tendulkar and Sanath Jayasuriya during a match between Rajasthan Royals and Mumbai Indians.

The auctions opened on January 5 and closed today. The cap went for more than one million Australian dollars, with bidding closing at A$1,007,500 to a user by the name 'M.C. from Sydney', as per sources.

The funds will enable the Red Cross to support those affected by the horrific wildfires which have&nbsp;ravaged Australia.

Steve Smith and David Warner's year-long exile has likely left them hungrier than ever and their return can spark Australia to World Cup glory, Test great Shane Warne said Wednesday.

The star pair's ban from state and international cricket for ball-tampering expires later this month and they are expected to be rushed back into the Australian side for the defence of their title at the showpiece tournament in England this year.

Both players have recently undergone elbow surgery and the great unknown is how they will perform back on the world stage, particularly in what is sure to be a hostile atmosphere in England.

But Warne has no doubt they will be as good as ever, benefiting from the break rather than their skills being blunted.

He is talking from experience.

Warne was suspended in 2003 for a year after testing positive to banned diuretic drugs.

Many wrote him off, but the leg-spinning legend quickly bounced back and enjoyed several more years playing at the highest level with the Australian team.

"Sometimes having an enforced lay off -- like I'm used to, I had 12 months off myself -- what that means is you become really fresh," he told Fox Sports.

"You freshen your mind up, you become hungry again and realise how important cricket is to you." Warne said both players would also "have a point to prove" when they eventually pad up again.

"That's why I reckon Australia can win the World Cup," he said, despite the team's recent patchy one-day form.

"They'll walk straight back in, they'll be hungry. They'll be a bit nervous in the first few games but that'll be good for them, they'll be excited and I would expect them to play as good as they always have."&nbsp;

Warne, Test cricket's second-most prolific wicket-taker with 708 scalps, revealed his admiration for Douglas Jardine, who led England's "Bodyline" tour, in his new book "No Spin" published this week.

Warne said he believed Jardine was among the best captains ever to have played the game.

"Douglas Jardine, of course, for what he achieved against Bradman and having the courage to change the game's parameters," Warne wrote. Jardine, an upper-class Englishman, is generally regarded as a villain in Australian cricketing circles.

His tactics of instructing fast bowlers, led by Harold Larwood, to aim at batsmen's bodies -- in a bid to curb run machine Donald Bradman -- provoked anger amongst the host nation at the time.

Jardine's tactics worked and England won the series 4-1 but Australians regarded it as unsporting and it strained relations between London and Canberra.

He was mercilessly hounded by Sydney crowds, including a famous taunt "leave those flies alone, Jardine, they're the only friends you've got".

But Warne, who called for Australia to use Bodyline fast-ball tactics against England last year, backed the captain.

He also criticised his former captain Steve Waugh in his book, calling him "selfish". Warne said he was disappointed when Waugh dropped him in the fourth Test in Antigua in the West Indies in 1999.

"I lost a bit of respect for him after that. I believe he should have backed me -- as I always believe the art of captaincy is to support your players and back them every time.

"This gains the respect from the players and makes them play for you. He didn't, it's history, but I never found it easy with him after that." He accused Waugh if being more focused on his average than the team's result.

"Steve Waugh was the most selfish player I ever played with and was only worried about averaging 50," he added.

"It was about a lack of loyalty. Pretty childish, I know, but that's the way it was."
