<p>The Navi Mumbai police have arrested a member of the Lawrence Bishnoi gang in connection with an alleged plot to kill Bollywood actor Salman Khan, an official said on Thursday.</p>

<p>The accused, Sukha alias Sukhbir Balbir Singh, was apprehended from Panipat in Haryana by a team of Panvel Town police (in Navi Mumbai) on Wednesday, he said.</p>

<p>He had allegedly given a contract to Bishnoi gang members to kill Khan, the official said.</p>

<p>Sukhbir Singh was in touch with his alleged handler Dogar, who is based in Pakistan, he said.</p>

<p>Singh along with the Bishnoi gang members had planned to use weapons from Pakistan, such as AK-47s, M16s and AK92s, to execute the alleged plot to kill Salman Khan, the official said.</p>

<p>He will be produced before a court after being brought to Navi Mumbai, the police said.</p>

<p>The Navi Mumbai police will also interrogate Sukhbir Singh in connection with the case of murder of NCP leader and former Maharashtra minister Baba Siddique, the official said.</p>

<p>On April 24 this year, the Navi Mumbai police registered a case against 18 identified accused and others of the Bishnoi gang for hatching a conspiracy to kill Salman Khan, he said.</p>

<p>The development followed a firing outside the actor's Bandra residence in Mumbai by Bishnoi gang members.</p>

<p>Gangster Lawrence Bishnoi, his brother Anmol, Sampat Nehra, Goldie Brar and Rohit Godhara were among the persons named as accused in the FIR, the official said.</p>

<p>The Navi Mumbai police had in this case arrested five Bishnoi gang members - Dhananjay alias Ajay Kashyap alias Nahvi, Gaurav Bhatia, Waspi Khan alias Wasim Chikna, Rizwan Khan alias Javed, and Deepak Hawa Singh alias John, he said.</p>

<p>After the arrests, police in June claimed to have uncovered a plot to target the actor on his way to his farmhouse near Panvel in Navi Mumbai.</p>

<p>During the investigation, it also came to light that Lawrence Bishnoi and Sampat Nehra gangs had deployed around 60 to 70 members to monitor Khan's movements as part of efforts to conduct recce at his Bandra residence, Panvel farmhouse and film shooting locations.</p>

<p>The accused persons were trying to use minors as sharp-shooters, using weapons from Pakistan, the official said.</p>

<p>Khan had told police that he believed the Lawrence Bishnoi gang carried out the firing at his residence with the intention to kill him and his family members.</p>

<p>The actor's statement is part of the charge sheet filed by Mumbai police in a court here in connection with the incident.</p>

<p>Two unidentified persons tried to trespass into his farmhouse near Panvel using fake identities in January 2024, the actor had noted.</p>

<p>In 2022, a threat letter was found on a bench opposite his building, while in March 2023, they received an email threat from the Lawrence Bishnoi gang, Khan had told police.<br />

<p>The police had earlier arrested the two accused-&nbsp;Karnail Singh from Haryana and Dharamraj Kashyap from Uttar Pradesh. As per reports, Singh and Kashyap claimed that&nbsp;they&nbsp;belonged to the notorious Lawrence Bishnoi gang.</p>

<p>After the killing of the NCP leader, security has been beefed up outside the apartment of Bollywood actor Salman Khan.&nbsp;</p>

<p>In&nbsp;visuals going viral, several security personnel and police officers are seen stationed outside Khan's Galaxy Apartment in the Bandra area. Since over three years now, the actor has times received several death threats from Lawrence Bishnoi's gang. In April, two bike-borne assailants fired shots outside the actor's residence. Since then, Khan has always been guarded by heavy security.</p>

<p>The tightening of security outside Salman's home appears to be a precautionary measure.</p>

<p>Meanwhile, the Mumbai Police have&nbsp;registered a case and are currently investigating the case. The identities&nbsp;of the two assailants have been revealed as Gurmail Singh and Dharamraj Kashyap.</p>

<p>The case has been registered at Nirmal Nagar Police Station under Crime Registration No. 589/2024, Sections 103(1), 109, 125, and 3(5) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), along with Sections 3, 25, 5, and 27 of the Arms Act, and Section 37 and section 137 of the Maharashtra Police Act, as per ANI.</p>

<p>Salman shared&nbsp;a close relationship with NCP leader Siddique and his family. Soon after the politicians's death was announced, the actor was among the first ones to visit the Lilavati Hospital.&nbsp;</p>

<p>“Our client (Khan) denies all the allegations,” Live Law quoted from the notice. “[They] are absolutely false, baseless, malicious, grossly defamatory, misleading, damaging and are made with an intent to malign the image and goodwill of our client before the public at large…”</p>

<p>Khan said he was a “victim of the criminal act” and is “absolutely not concerned with the accused persons in any manner whatsoever”.</p>

<p>Security personnel tried to warn him, but he kept getting close to Salman Khan's car, he said.</p>

<p>After the actor reached his house, two police vehicles chased the motorcycle rider and forced him to stop, the official said.</p>

Bollywood king Salman Khan's $4.9 million watch takes internet by storm

<p>The entire Bollywood is celebrating the festival of Ganesh Chaturthi with great enthusiasm. Every year, Salman Khan's entire family comes together to celebrate the festival at his sister Arpita Khan and her actor-husband Aayush Sharma's home.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Two days after welcoming Lord Ganesh into their home, a visarjan (ritual of immersing the idol in a waterbody) was performed on Sunday (Sept 8), and the entire Khan family stepped out to participate in the same.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Actor Salman Khan has given his statement to the Mumbai Police in connection to the April firing outside his home in Mumbai. The actor reportedly has told the cops that he believed the Lawrence Bishnoi gang was responsible for the firing that took place in the wee hours of April 14 outside his residence.&nbsp;<br />

Salman stated that he heard a firecracker-like sound while asleep at his residence in Galaxy Apartments on said day, indicating an attempt on his and his family members' lives.</p>

<p>According to a report by&nbsp;PTI, Salman stated that his&nbsp;bodyguard informed him around 4:55 am (local time) that two people on a motorbike had fired at the first-floor balcony. The actor&nbsp;added that there had been previous attempts to harm him and his family. His bodyguard complained about the firing at Bandra police station.&nbsp;<br />
<br />
Later, he learned that gangster Lawrence Bishnoi and his brother Anmol Bishnoi had confessed and taken responsibility for the attack in a Facebook post.<br />
<br />
Many would recall&nbsp;that Lawrence Bishnoi and his gang members had allegedly&nbsp;threatened to kill Salman and his relatives earlier too.&nbsp;<br />
<br />
"So, I believe that Lawrence Bishnoi, with the help of his gang members, carried out the firing incident when my family members were sleeping and (they were) planning to kill me and my family members," Salman said in his statement.&nbsp;<br />
<br />
He told police that he and his family had received several other threats in recent years.</p>

<p>In 2022, a threat&nbsp;letter was reportedly discovered on a bench across from Salman's building.</p>

<p>The actor said that in March 2023,&nbsp;a threatening email was received from the Lawrence Bishnoi gang.&nbsp;He also mentioned that in January 2024, two unidentified individuals attempted to enter his farmhouse near Panvel using fake identities.&nbsp;<br />

Salman also noted that earlier this month, the police filed a 1,735-page charge sheet in the firing case before the special court for Maharashtra Control of Organised Crime Act cases. The court has recently acknowledged the charge sheet, stating that there is enough evidence to proceed against the six&nbsp;accused.<br />

The individuals arrested in the case are Vickykumar Gupta, Sagarkumar Pal, Sonukumar Bishnoi, Anujkumar Thapan (now deceased), Mohd Rafiq Choudhary, and Harpal Singh.&nbsp;<br />

Salman Khan records statement with Mumbai Police, reveals he was asleep during the firing incident

<p>The Bombay High Court has ordered for the removal of actor Salman Khan's name as a respondent in a plea seeking CBI probe into the custodial death of an accused in a case of firing outside the actor's home.&nbsp;<br />

The accused, Anuj Thapan was found dead on May 1 inside the toilet of the crime branch police lock-up in Mumbai.&nbsp;</p>

<p>On Monday, a division bench of Justices Revati Mohite-Dere and Shyam Chandak directed petitioner Rita Devi, mother of Thapan, to delete Khan's name from the petition.<br />

"Delete his name. Petitioner seeks leave to amend the petition to delete the name of respondent 4 as there is no pleading against him and no relief sought against him," the court said.<br />

<strong>Firing outside Salman Khan's residence&nbsp;</strong><br />

On April 14, two motorbike-borne persons opened fire outside Bollywood superstar Salman Khan's residence in Bandra area of Mumbai. Days later, the alleged shooters - Vicky Gupta and Sagar Pal - were&nbsp;arrested from Gujarat.<br />
<br />
Thapan was arrested on April 26 from Punjab along with another person for allegedly supplying weapons to the shooters for firing at Khan's residence.<br />
<br />
While police claim Thapan killed himself, his mother Rita Devi in her petition filed on May 3 in the HC alleged foul play and claimed he was killed.<br />
<br />
In her plea, she sought the HC to direct the Central Bureau of Investigation to conduct a probe into her son's death. The petition said Thapan was physically assaulted and tortured by police in custody.<br />
<br />
Rita Devi had in her plea impleaded Khan as a respondent.<br />
<br />
The high court on Monday said no relief was sought against Khan in the petition and hence, there was no point in keeping the actor involved in the plea.</p>
