Actor Salman Khan has given his statement to the Mumbai Police in connection to the April firing outside his home in Mumbai. The actor reportedly has told the cops that he believed the Lawrence Bishnoi gang was responsible for the firing that took place in the wee hours of April 14 outside his residence.

Salman stated that he heard a firecracker-like sound while asleep at his residence in Galaxy Apartments on said day, indicating an attempt on his and his family members' lives.

According to a report by PTI, Salman stated that his bodyguard informed him around 4:55 am (local time) that two people on a motorbike had fired at the first-floor balcony. The actor added that there had been previous attempts to harm him and his family. His bodyguard complained about the firing at Bandra police station.

Later, he learned that gangster Lawrence Bishnoi and his brother Anmol Bishnoi had confessed and taken responsibility for the attack in a Facebook post.

Many would recall that Lawrence Bishnoi and his gang members had allegedly threatened to kill Salman and his relatives earlier too.

"So, I believe that Lawrence Bishnoi, with the help of his gang members, carried out the firing incident when my family members were sleeping and (they were) planning to kill me and my family members," Salman said in his statement.

He told police that he and his family had received several other threats in recent years.

In 2022, a threat letter was reportedly discovered on a bench across from Salman's building.

The actor said that in March 2023, a threatening email was received from the Lawrence Bishnoi gang. He also mentioned that in January 2024, two unidentified individuals attempted to enter his farmhouse near Panvel using fake identities.

Salman also noted that earlier this month, the police filed a 1,735-page charge sheet in the firing case before the special court for Maharashtra Control of Organised Crime Act cases. The court has recently acknowledged the charge sheet, stating that there is enough evidence to proceed against the six accused.
The individuals arrested in the case are Vickykumar Gupta, Sagarkumar Pal, Sonukumar Bishnoi, Anujkumar Thapan (now deceased), Mohd Rafiq Choudhary, and Harpal Singh.

The Bombay High Court has ordered for the removal of actor Salman Khan's name as a respondent in a plea seeking CBI probe into the custodial death of an accused in a case of firing outside the actor's home.

The accused, Anuj Thapan was found dead on May 1 inside the toilet of the crime branch police lock-up in Mumbai.

On Monday, a division bench of Justices Revati Mohite-Dere and Shyam Chandak directed petitioner Rita Devi, mother of Thapan, to delete Khan's name from the petition.

"Delete his name. Petitioner seeks leave to amend the petition to delete the name of respondent 4 as there is no pleading against him and no relief sought against him," the court said.

Firing outside Salman Khan's residence

On April 14, two motorbike-borne persons opened fire outside Bollywood superstar Salman Khan's residence in Bandra area of Mumbai. Days later, the alleged shooters - Vicky Gupta and Sagar Pal - were arrested from Gujarat.

Thapan was arrested on April 26 from Punjab along with another person for allegedly supplying weapons to the shooters for firing at Khan's residence.

While police claim Thapan killed himself, his mother Rita Devi in her petition filed on May 3 in the HC alleged foul play and claimed he was killed.

In her plea, she sought the HC to direct the Central Bureau of Investigation to conduct a probe into her son's death. The petition said Thapan was physically assaulted and tortured by police in custody.

Rita Devi had in her plea impleaded Khan as a respondent.

The high court on Monday said no relief was sought against Khan in the petition and hence, there was no point in keeping the actor involved in the plea.

"What is the point of making a person who is supposed to be the victim a party respondent? We see no reason why respondent 4 should continue to be in this plea. He is not a necessary party," the bench said.

The HC noted the petitioner's concern was the death of her son, but there was no point in making Khan a respondent in the plea.

Salman Khan house firing case: Accused Anuj Thapan dies in police custody

"You are concerned with the death of your son...that the court will look into...but what is the point of impleading respondent 4 in the plea," the bench asked.

"This is too far-fetched. No relief is sought against him and no averment or allegation is made against him," the court added.

The petitioner's advocate told the court that while they are not seeking any relief in their plea against the actor, he should be part of the probe being carried out by the state Crime Investigation Department into Thapan's death. The court said it is for the CID to decide.
Firing outside Salman Khan's residence On April 14, two motorbike-borne persons opened fire outside Bollywood superstar Salman Khan's residence in Bandra area of Mumbai. Navi Mumbai Police bust plot to kill Salman Khan near his farmhouse, 4 arrested "What is the point of making a person who is supposed to be the victim a party respondent? We see no reason why respondent 4 should continue to be in this plea. He is not a necessary party," the bench said. The HC noted the petitioner's concern was the death of her son, but there was no point in making Khan a respondent in the plea. Salman Khan house firing case: Accused Anuj Thapan dies in police custody "You are concerned with the death of your son...that the court will look into...but what is the point of impleading respondent 4 in the plea," the bench asked. (With inputs from agencies)

After nabbing the culprits, the Mumbai police’s crime branch told a local court that the two arrested men aimed to kill Salman Khan.

How did the police catch the assailants so quickly?

According to several reports, the Mumbai crime branch activated its network of informers and started tracking the phones of the two men. Notably, their phones weren’t switched off so that helped the police.

CCTV footage helped police officials to nab the culprits.

The police found out that the men had run away to Gujarat’s Kachchh district. A team took a flight from Mumbai to Rajkot and then went 350 kilometres by road to Kachchh.

The team reached Nakhatrana city, informed the local police, and took four of their personnel with them. Without much of a fight, the two accused were taken into custody around midnight from the famous Matanomadh temple in Kachchh. They were brought to Bhuj by road and then taken to Mumbai via a plane.

The two have been sent to 10-day police custody, according to the latest reports.

Security around his home was tightened as the CM arrived. The CM met Salman and his father Salim Khan, politician Baba Siddiqui and his son Zeeshan.

Speaking to the media, Eknath Shinde said, "The government is with you, I have told Salman Khan. Both the accused have been arrested. They will be interrogated. We will get to the root of the case. Nobody will be spared. Nobody should be targeted this way.”

Maharashtra CM visited Salman Khan's house post incident Post the incident, Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde visited Salman Khan's Bandra apartment on Tuesday. Security around his home was tightened as the CM arrived. The CM met Salman and his father Salim Khan, politician Baba Siddiqui and his son Zeeshan.
Is Salman Khan planning to file a defamation case against Kunal Kamra? Recent reports have claimed that Khan will file a defamation lawsuit against the stand-up comedian Kunal Kamra for making jokes about him. Kunal reportedly has refused to apologise for his remarks on the actor. But a recent report has now claimed that Khan has no plans to sue the comedian.

Why isn't Salman Khan suing Kunal Kamra

A report on Zoom quoted Salman's friend who stated that the defamation case was just hogwash. The friend told Zoom, "If he (Salman Khan) sued everyone who abused him, he would be in and out of courtrooms. Over the years, Salman has come to terms with his controversial attackable image. He knows mentioning his name, especially in a derogatory context, gets attention. So no, he isn't suing this guy (Kunal Kamra)," adding, “His father, Salim Khan, counsels him (Salman) to ignore insults. Salim saab tells Salman they are just a way of grabbing attention.”

What did Kunal say about Salman Khan

Kunal was seen taking potshots at Salman during one of his recent gigs. The video was then shared by self-proclaimed film critic Kamaal R Khan aka KRK on X. KRK then claimed that Salman is planning to file a defamation case against Kunal over the jokes. The comedian then tweeted, “I am not a flying bird or a stationary footpath and I don’t apologise for jokes anymore…”

After Salman Khan had an oops moment recently, he had to go back to rectify his goof-up. We are talking about his latest X post on Laapata Ladies director Kiran Rao. After watching the film recently at a special screening, Salman Khan had posted words of praise for director Kiran Rao.

Salman wrote, "Just saw Kiran Rao's Laapataa Ladies. Wah wah (wow) Kiran. I really enjoyed it and so did my father. Congrats on your debut as a director, superb job. Kab kaam karogi mere saath (When will you work with me)." The post is factually incorrect as Kiran Rao made her directorial debut with Dhobi Ghat which released in 2010. Social media users didn’t miss a beat to remind Salman of his mistake and trolled him mercilessly on the social media platform.

Salman Khan had to then delete the X post and write a new one, this time factually correct. Salman’s new post on X reads: "Just saw Kiran Rao's Laapataa Ladies. Wah wah Kiran. Salman Khan and Karan Johar are all set to collaborate after 25 years. The actor-director duo had worked together in Karan's directorial debut Kuch Kuch Hota Hai last. But now, reports have stated that Salman will be seen playing the lead role in Karan's new production The Bull. The shoot was kicked off with the mahurat shot in Mumbai on December 29. The film will be backed by Karan's Dharma Productions, and directed by Vishnu Vardhan of Shershaah fame. What is The Bull about? As per a press note, Salman will play Brigadier Farukh Bulsara. The film is based on a real story where the Brigadier led Operation Cactus in 1988 in the Maldives. Salman will be seen essaying the role of a paramilitary officer in the movie. The film will go on floors in February 2024 and will be released during Eid 2025. The Bull will present a retelling of Operation Cactus, wherein the Indian armed forces assisted the Maldives in reclaiming control of the state following a coup attempt led by businessman Abdullah Luthufi and the People’s Liberation Organisation of Tamil Eelam (PLOTE). The Indian forces efficiently neutralised the mercenaries and restored control to President Maumoon Abdul Gayoom’s government within hours. Salman is reportedly training for 3.5 hours every day to crack the physicality of the part. Karan's birthday wish for Salman On December 27, as Salman turned a year older, Karan wished the superstar with a throwback photo from Kuch Kuch Hota Hai and hinted at a possible collaboration between the two. He wrote, “25 years ago, I was at a party lost and confused. A massive movie star came up to me and asked me why I was standing by a corner. I told him I had been to several actors for a part but was politely rejected. The superstar's sister is close to me so he graciously said she had spoken highly of my script and that I should meet him the next day to narrate the film to him." Salman Khan and Karan Johar to collaborate for The Bull. Here's what the film is about

As Salman Khan turned a year older, filmmaker Karan Johar had the sweetest message for the Bollywood superstar. Many would recall, that Salman played a cameo in Johar's directorial debut film Kuch Kuch Hota Hai. The film fetched Salman a Filmfare award in the best supporting actor category.

Years later, on the occasion of his birthday, Johar recalled how Salman came on board for the project.

Taking to Instagram, Johar shared an image of Khan from the film Kuch Kuch Hota Hai and wrote, "25 years ago I was at a party lost and confused…. A massive movie star came upto me and asked me why I was standing by a corner … I told him I had been to several actors for a part but was politely rejected … the superstar's sister is close to me so he graciously said she had spoken highly of my script and that I should meet him the next day to narrate the film to him…In my wildest dreams I never imagined I would even get the opportunity of a narration …"

Karan recalled how he was nervous about the narration and added, "I went with a prayer in my heart and a deep desire for a miracle and narrated my first film like my life depended on it…He looked at me at the interval point (by then I was looking like I was at the Sahara desert and water could keep me alive), kindly offered me water and said ‘I’m on!!!’ I was perplexed and said but “you are in the second half” you haven’t heard it? He said, “I love your father and my sister will kill me if I don’t do this movie” and that’s how Salman Khan was in KKHH …. I am deeply grateful to Alvira and my father’s goodwill for making sure I had the perfect Aman and SALMAN KHAN in my debut film! Gestures and stories like this just don’t happen today! Happy birthday Salman!"

Johar also hinted at a possible collaboration with the actor as he wrote, "So much love and respect for you always …Also 25 years later we will finally have a story to tell again… not saying any more than that happy happy birthday."

A massive movie star came upto me and asked me why I was standing by a corner … I told him I had been to several actors for a part but was politely rejected … the superstar's sister is close to me so he graciously said she had spoken highly of my script and that I should meet him the next day to narrate the film to him…In my wildest dreams I never imagined I would even get the opportunity of a narration …" Karan recalled how he was nervous about the narration and added, "I went with a prayer in my heart and a deep desire for a miracle and narrated my first film like my life depended on it…He looked at me at the interval point (by then I was looking like I was at the Sahara desert and water could keep me alive), kindly offered me water and said ‘I’m on!!!’ I was perplexed and said but “you are in the second half” you haven’t heard it? He said, “I love your father and my sister will kill me if I don’t do this movie” and that’s how Salman Khan was in KKHH …. I am deeply grateful to Alvira and my father’s goodwill for making sure I had the perfect Aman and SALMAN KHAN in my debut film! Gestures and stories like this just don’t happen today! Happy birthday Salman!" Johar also hinted at a possible collaboration with the actor as he wrote, "So much love and respect for you always …Also 25 years later we will finally have a story to tell again… not saying any more than that happy happy birthday."
