<p>In an interview with a leading fashion magazine, she divulged details about her recently signed a film with Salman Khan, titled <em>Bharat</em> that will go on floors sometime this year. Speaking about it, she said, "Bharat is the Indian movie I signed this year. It's the quintessential Bollywood movie, which I haven't done in many years. A lot of them were dramatic and thematic. This one's going to be out and out entertainment. I'm excited! I haven't been back to do a movie in two or three years now."</p>

<p>She continued, "I can explain that more. When people say, "You're doing a Bollywood movie," they only think of Bollywood movies being synchronized song and dance. Bollywood is the name for an entire industry. Those aren't the only kind of movies we make."</p>

<p>She explained what Bollywood is all about and defined the kind of cinema the industry produces. She said, "We have every other genre. Yes, music is a very important part of it, but we don't have synchronized dancing in everything we do. Plus, Bollywood is not a place. Every country and every culture has its stereotype, I get that. Here, everyone has superpowers and aliens only land in America. I just really want Indian cinema to break through that and for people to be introduced to the other forms of Indian cinema we have."</p>

<p>Also, Priyanka being herself couldn't stop giving us reasons to love her more and so she added, "To me, being an Indian actor, or an actor of South Asian descent, or a woman of color, or an immigrant-whichever title you like-being all of those people and being in America and getting the kind of welcome and love I've gotten within the industry, it feels like a sense of acceptance. I hope with me getting that acceptance, it opens up the floodgates for more people who look like me. I hope that sort of makes the conversation for actresses or people of colour to get more opportunities because it's the opportunities that lack."</p>

<p>Salman Khan arrived in the northernmost state of Jammu and Kashmir on Monday for a two-day shoot of his upcoming film <em>Race 3</em> and the cameras went crazy clicking the superstar who was spotted driving an open jeep with some local police protection.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Salman also met with the state’s chief minister Mehbooba Mufti. Pictures of their meet soon went viral on social media. The crew first reached Srinagar where they received a warm welcome from CM Mufti and spent an hour with her. Later, they travelled to Sonamarg and shot for the film.</p>

<p><em>Race 3</em> directed by Remo D’Souza is an action-packed thriller produced jointly by Ramesh S. Taurani and Salman. <p>In February this year, he had approached the apex court seeking discharge of his surety given by his former publicist Reshma Shetty, stating that he wanted to replace it with the surety of his bodyguard Shera alias Gurmeet Singh Jolly.</p>

<p>The top court, which is hearing the appeal filed against his acquittal in the case by the state government, had allowed his plea on February 23. He was asked to comply with the process.</p>

<p>The sessions court had issued two notices to Khan this year - once on March 5, which was received by his father, and another one on March 16.</p>

<p>In December 2015, the Bombay High Court acquitted Khan of all criminal charges for lack of substantial evidence. He was acquitted seven months after the sessions court held him guilty.</p>

<p>The actor was accused of running his car over some persons sleeping on the pavement in suburban Bandra in 2002. One person died in the mishap. The trial court had awarded him a five-year jail term.</p>

<p>A court in Jodhpur had on April 5 sentenced the actor to five years in jail for killing a black buck in 1998.&nbsp</p>

<p>On April 7, Khan walked out of the Jodhpur jail, where he spent two nights, after a sessions court here granted him bail in the case.&nbsp</p>

<p>Salman’s petition comes in the wake of his bail in the 1998 black buck poaching case which had come with some conditions, one of them being that he could not leave the country and is supposed to appear in court again on May 7. The other condition was two bonds of Rs 25,000 each.</p>

<p>Salman was sentenced to five years in prison after being convicted of killing two blackbucks in Jodhpur during the shooting of his movie 'Hum Saath Saath Hain' in 1998. The actor spent two nights in Jodhpur Jail.</p>

<p>The judge asked the actor to appear before the court after a month on May 7 when it will hear his plea for suspension of sentence. <p>The yet-to-be-titled show will reportedly explore the lives of Mumbai cops -- both on and off duty. With this show, Salman will make his debut as a TV producer. The cast of the show has been finalised and it is being shot in a Mumbai studio at the moment.&nbsp;</p>

<p>According to a Mumbai-based tabloid, Mahesh Limaye, the National Award-winning director of the 2014 Marathi film <em>Yellow</em>, will direct the show while writer Sridhar Raghavan, of <em>Bluffmaster</em> and <em>Khakee</em> fame has written the script.</p>

<p>The show is scheduled to be on air from next month.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Actor-filmmaker Mahesh Manjrekar believes everyone makes mistakes, but when his superstar friend Salman Khan is at fault, it is "blown out of proportion".</p>

<p>The Jodhpur Sessions court convicted Salman for killing two blackbucks in October 1998 when he was shooting for the film "Hum Saath Saath Hai", and sentenced him to five years in jail.</p>

<p>The trial court acquitted his co-stars, Saif Ali Khan, Tabu, Neelam and Sonali Bendre, giving them the "benefit of doubt".</p>

<p>"Salman is one guy who is ready to take the rap. He is ready to take the rap, the blame (on himself). He is human at the end of the day. Who doesn't make a mistake? I definitely make a mistake. But when he makes a mistake, it is blown out of proportion," news agency PTI quoted Manjrekar as saying.</p>

<p>Manjrekar and Salman have worked together in films such as "Wanted", "Dabangg", "Ready" and "Jai Ho" among others.</p>

<p>"Salman is more than a friend to me. I don't know what transpired (in the case), the courts are there to decide. But today if you ask me what is your wish, I would say he should be released tomorrow. He doesn't deserve to be in jail. From two days my wife is asking me what is going to happen, and I am like, he will be out soon," he added.</p>

<p>The "Vaastav" director believes celebrity status of the "Sultan" actor made things difficult for him.</p>

<p>"Maybe a thousand people who have hunted an animal have got away. Hunting is legal in places like (South) Africa and other countries. There are (rules) like you can't kill a female animal, can't kill young leopard or lion, so they decide what you are going to kill, they see the balance is maintained.</p>

<p>"Wherever hunting is legal, animals thrive. Here (in India) guys don't know what they are killing, they go and kill on the sly.... Kill any animal randomly," he said.</p>

<p>Manjrekar has not met the Khan family yet as he feels it is not the right time to discuss the verdict with them.</p>

<p>"It is not the time to talk about it. There are times when you should let the family bear the grief alone, it is not that if you ask them about it, it is going to reduce their pain," he said.&nbsp</p>

<p>While the prosecution has demanded that Salman's bail plea application be rejected on the ground of eyewitness accounts, the&nbsp;defence questioned the veracity of the same accounts, claiming that they were filled with discrepancies.</p>

<p>The prosecution opposed the actor's bail plea and asked the court to keep him behind the bar.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Joshi and trial court judge Dev Kumar Khatri, who had convicted Salman Khan and sentenced him to five years in jail in the 1998 blackbuck poaching case, are among more than 100 judicial officers transferred in Rajasthan.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Reports said&nbsp;that Salman Khan's case listed at No.15 in the Court.&nbsp;</p>

<p>The judge had, on Friday, put off the hearing by a day as he wanted to see the entire case record before deciding whether Salman Khan should be granted bail.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Judge Joshi has been transferred from Jodhpur to Siroh in Rajasthan. He will be replaced by Chandra Kumar Songara, district and sessions judge of Bhilwara.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Meanwhile, Mahesh Bora, Salman Khan's lawyer told reporters that he was receiving threatening SMSes and internet calls warning him not to appear for the Bollywood star's bail hearing.</p>

<p>Salman Khan was handed out a 5-year prison sentence by the court, however, the other stars in the case - Saif Khan, Neelam, Tabu and Sonali Bendre - were acquitted.</p>

<p>Salman was sentenced under Section 51 of the Wildlife (Protection) Act and others under Section 51 read with Section 149 (unlawful assembly) of the Indian Penal Code. The Bollywood superstar was also slapped with a penalty of Rs 10,000.</p>

<p>Meanwhile, the nurse, who helped deliver Salman Khan visited a temple in Indore and prayed for his release in the case.</p>

<p>Rukmani Bai, who is also known as Salman's third mother, was working at Indore nursing home when the actor was born there on December 27, 1965.</p>

<p>Soon after the news of Salman's conviction came in, Bai visited a Hanuman temple in Indore and wished for his early release.</p>

<p>Actor Salman Khan was on Saturday granted bail by the Jodhpur Sessions Court&nbsp;in the 1998 blackbuck poaching case against him.</p>

<p>The actor, 52, was granted bail on a surety of Rs 50,000. He walked free on Saturday evening after spending two consecutive nights in the Jodhpur Central Jail. The actor reached his home, Galaxy Apartments, in Mumbai late evening. He emerged at his balcony a while later and waved at his fans. Earlier, Salman looked relieved as he was whisked away in a car from the jail to the Jodhpur Airport.</p>

<p>Mahipal Bishnoi, lawyer of the Bishnoi community, which filed the case against Salman, said that the actor cannot leave the country without the court's permission and will have to appear here again in person on May 7.</p>

Blackbuck poaching case: Salman's bail hearing likely to get delayed

<p>Salman Khan, who had to spend two nights in Jodhpur Jail after being convicted in the 1998&nbsp;Blackbuck case, has finally got&nbsp;bail today afternoon in his 5 years imprisonment judgment. &nbsp;</p>

<p>He was granted bail by the Jodhpur court on a personal bond of Rs 50,000 and two sureties of Rs 25,000 each.&nbsp;</p>

<p>In the judgment convicting the actor, the court said he's a role model for millions and should have been more careful.</p>

<p>"The accused is a popular actor whose deeds are followed by people. Despite this, the accused hunted two blackbucks," said chief judicial magistrate Dev Kumar Khatri in his written judgment.</p>

<p>Judge Ravindra Kumar Joshi, who heard the bail request, ordered his release.</p>

<p>After the bail, fans and family were spotted celebrating outside the star's Galaxy Apartments in Mumbai. &nbsp;</p>

<p>Director of Salman's upcoming film "Race 3", Remo D'Souza told PTI, "I am happy that he has got bail. After working with him so closely I have become a huge fan of him not only as an actor but also as a human being. Almost 90 per cent of the shoot for 'Race 3' is over and the remaining portions will mostly be shot in India."</p>

<p>Producer of "Race 3" Ramesh Taurani said he was "happy" that the actor had come out of jail. "For us Salman coming of this was more important. Our prayers have been answered. The shooting of 'Race 3' is almost over, a romantic song is left, which will feature Salman and Jacqueline."</p>

<p>Director Anees Bazmee, who has worked with Salman on "No Entry", hoped the "Sultan" star will soon be out of this case.</p>

<p>"I am very very happy. He is a family, a very dear friend so I wanted me to be free at the earliest from all this. At the same time, we have to follow the law of the land. We are hopeful the higher court will look at things properly and he will be out of this soon," he said.</p>
