<p>The accused told the police that he had rented the school in December for Pakistani Rupee (PKR) 100,000 per month. He added that there are about 10 female teachers, five male teachers and about 250 students in the school, as per Geo News.&nbsp;</p>

Furthermore, relevant sections of the POCSO Act were applied to their convictions.</p>

<p>The victim's brother said that the girl went to graze the cattle in the morning but did not return home.</p>

<p>“We started looking for her in the afternoon when the cattle returned but my sister didn’t,” the Hindustan Times quoted the brother as saying.</p>

<p>He further said that at around 10 pm when the family started searching in&nbsp;the area they spotted human bones in one of the kilns.</p>

<p>Bhilawar police superintendent (SP) Adarsh Sindhu said that a DNA test will be conducted on the bone samples found at the furnace.</p>

<p>“Police have also recovered the girl’s bracelets and shoes. A forensic team has been involved in the probe&nbsp;considering the seriousness of the matter. A DNA test will also be conducted of the bone samples found at the furnace for further investigation,” said Bhilawar police superintendent (SP) Adarsh Sindhu.</p>

<p>Meanwhile, BJP leader Kalulal Gurjar reached the spot and met the family members of the deceased.</p>

He contacted strangers on an internet forum called “à son insu” (“without him/her knowing”) where members discussed performing sexual acts on their oblivious and obviously non-consensual partners, often drugged.&nbsp;</p>

<p>After making contact, Dominique would invite the so-called guests to his home in Mazan, France to carry out reprehensible sexual acts while his wife lay drugged, out of her mind.&nbsp;</p>

<p>He anaesthetised his wife by allegedly mixing the anti-anxiety drug Témesta (Lorazepam) into her evening meals, according to <em>The Telegraph.</em> To top off his debauchery, Dominique would record the men raping her wife. It is understood that he kept the assault footage on a USB drive in a folder titled 'ABUSES'.&nbsp;&nbsp;</p>

<p>So far, the authorities have charged 51 men with rape and remanded them in custody. The accused were of all ages - from 26 to 73 and came from different walks of life (prison guard, lorry driver, journalist, IT worker in a bank, municipal councillor). Investigators have identified 92 cases of rape of Françoise by 83 'aggressors' but are yet to identify the remaining alleged assailants.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Prosecutors investigating the case said all the men who came to Dominique's house performed the sexual acts out of their free will. He did not coerce them and none of the attackers "gave up going through with sexual acts on his wife given her state".</p>

<p>“He insisted that none of the men who came to his house gave up going through with sexual acts on his wife given her state. He never used violence or threats against anyone so that rapes would be committed. Each individual was in possession of his free will to stop these acts and leave,” wrote Avignon prosecutors cited by Le Monde.</p>

<p>The language of the law lays down eight scenarios where an individual victim is unable to provide consent to sexual intercourse. These include the situation when the victim is intoxicated with alcohol or drugs or has been threatened using violence. Another scenario takes into measure the abuse of power, which usually occurs in place of work where refusal to engage in sexual acts with a powerful person can have devastating effects.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Japan, largely has been a conservative country where victims of sexual assaults are seen in a bad light. A 2021 government survey showed it is due to this stigma that only about six per cent of men and women reported an assault to the police, and nearly half of the women said they couldn’t do so because of “embarrassment”.</p>

<h2><strong>Changing rape definition works&nbsp;</strong></h2>

<p>Changing the definition of rape has shown tangible results. In 2018, Sweden changed the legal definition rape to sex without consent, akin to the one in Japan. As a result, the National Council on Crime Prevention (Bra) noted that convictions had risen from 190 in 2017 to 333 in 2019.&nbsp;</p>

<p>“We were surprised there was such an increase. It’s a good sign. This has led to greater justice for victims of rape," Bra senior researcher Stina Holmberg said at the time.&nbsp;</p>

<p>The Karnataka High Court clarified that necrophilia, defined as having intercourse with a corpse, was not a punishable offence under current laws while advising the government to enact a law making such acts punishable.&nbsp;</p>

<p>The bench noted, “It can be considered as sadism, necrophilia and there is no offence made out to punish under Section 376 of the Indian Penal Code.”</p>

<p>The court also stated that necrophilia is a "psychosexual disorder" which DSM-IV (Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders) classifies among a group of disorders called 'paraphilias' including paedophilia, exhibitionism and sexual masochism.</p>

<p>He also said that there has been "minimal research – and a worrying lack of coherent and consistently applied policies – in relation to consensual and coercive sex behind bars."</p>

<p>Sexual violence is a problem not just for the female prison estate but also for male ones.</p>

<p>According to the latest statistics on safety in custody published by the UK Ministry of Justice, there were a total of 20,993 assaults in the 12 months leading up to December 2022. Out of these, 12 per cent were classified as "serious assaults," which encompass sexual violence incidents. The number of prisoner-on-prisoner sexual assaults, however, fell to 195, which is 26 per cent lower than the 265 incidents that were recorded in 2019.</p>

<p>Japanese lawmakers are set to introduce the country’s first laws against taking&nbsp;sexually exploitative photos or videos of others without consent. The language of the bill states that acts such as "upskirting"&nbsp;(taking pictures up a girl's skirt unbeknownst to her) and secret filming of sexual acts will be prohibited.&nbsp;</p>

<p>The gropers, often called "chikan"&nbsp;in the local language, prey on women, especially in the famously crowded public transport system. For long, there had been demands from the public to bring a law making the offence punishable.&nbsp;&nbsp;</p>

<p>Reports state that anyone found violating the law could face&nbsp;imprisonment of up to three years or a fine of up to&nbsp;$22,000 (Three&nbsp;million Japanese yen).</p>

<p>The bill, once passed, will be part of Japan's total overhaul of sex crimes. Reportedly, as part of the overhaul, the definition of rape will be expanded as well.&nbsp;</p>

<p>To avoid the menace of "upskirting", mobile phone manufacturers in the country have also installed audible shutter sounds on the devices.</p>

<p>According to police statistics, in 2010, there were 1,741 arrests in Japan with regard to illegal photographs of women. The number of arrests swelled three times to over 5,000 in 2021, signalling a grave problem. Some reports at the time&nbsp;claimed that the "perverts"&nbsp;who took the objectionable photos were "bored"&nbsp;amid the pandemic.&nbsp;</p>

<p>In March, several men photographed themselves upskirting and groping anime statues at a theme park in the country. The now-deleted posts showed the masked men touching characters from Studi Ghbili in a sexually suggestive way.</p>

<p>"This is being done as a desperate bid to ensure the sanctity of dead bodies in case some randy monsters cherry-pick them to satiate their lust," it added.&nbsp;</p>

<p>WION earlier carried the report with an image shared by a user named Harris Sultan, claiming to be an ex-Muslim atheist activist and author of "The Curse of God, why I left Islam". Sultan tweeted that hardline Islamist ideology was to blame for such unproven acts.&nbsp;</p>

<p>The user wrote in his tweet that "Pakistan has created such a horny, sexually frustrated society that people are now putting padlocks on the graves of their daughters to prevent them from getting raped. When you link the burqa with rape, it follows you to the grave".&nbsp;</p>

<p>But the image turned out to be false as a fact-check by BOOM clarified that the "grave in the viral image is located at Masjid E Salar Mulk in Darab Jung Colony, Hyderabad, India, and does not show an instance of parents in Pakistan locking their daughter's grave to protect against necrophilia".&nbsp;</p>

<p>In 2021, a freshly-buried teenage girl in the Maulvi Ashraf Chandio village near the coastal town of Ghulamullah was raped by unknown men after digging out the body. The victim's family stated that a local goon, the son of the village landlord, was the main perpetrator in the heinous crime.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Similarly, in 2020, a man was caught red-handed raping the corpse of a woman in a graveyard in Okara in the Punjab province.&nbsp;</p>

<p>According to National Commission for Human Rights, over 40 per cent of women in Pakistan have faced some kind of violence in their lives.&nbsp;Pakistan is undergoing one of the worst economic crises in its history and yet minorities and women's rights are being constantly trampled upon, even in their death.&nbsp;</p>

<p>"That said, we do not understand why two of the accused have been only sentenced to 10 years," he said, adding that he was considering a further appeal to the Court of Cassation "after consulting the child's family".</p>

<p>The court heard testimonies from the victim and a witness in private after a request from the prosecution.</p>

<p>The public gallery was packed for Thursday's hearing, which ran on into the early hours of Friday.</p>

<p>The victim, looking frail and silent, was accompanied by her grandmother and father.</p>

<p>The defendants faced the same charges as in the original trial -- "misappropriation of a minor" and "indecent assault on a minor with violence".</p>

<p>The prosecution requested that "rape" be added to the charges, a request rejected by the judge.</p>

<p>The judgement was made almost simultaneously with an opposite order by US District Judge Thomas O. Rice in Washington, D.C.</p>

<p>A woman with cerebral palsy who claims she was raped as a teenager by Backstreet Boys star Nick Carter lodged a civil lawsuit against the singer in the United States on Thursday.</p>

<p>Shannon Ruth, now 39, said the singer forced her to perform oral sex on him on a tour bus after a show in 2001, and then raped her.</p>

<p>Attorney Mark Boskovich told a virtual press conference that Ruth, who was then 17, had been queuing for an autograph after a Backstreet Boys show in Tacoma, Washington, when Carter invited her onto the bus.</p>

<p>"He gave her a funny tasting beverage that he called VIP juice," Boskovich told reporters.</p>

<p>Then "Carter took her to the bus's bathroom and told her to get on her knees, and he pulled down his pants and exposed his genitals ordering (her) to perform sexual acts on him."</p>

<p>Ruth, who was a virgin at the time, cried throughout the ordeal, but Carter persisted, Boskovich said.</p>

<p>"Carter took (her) to a bed in the back of the bus. He pushed her onto the bed and proceeded to rape her, despite her pleas."</p>

<p>After the sexual assault, Ruth, who is also autistic, said she would tell people what had happened.</p>

<p>"He grabbed and bruised her arm and screamed at her," the lawyer said, adding that Carter had called her "retarded" and said "no one would ever believe in her."</p>

<p>Ruth, who has waived the right to anonymity that is customary for victims of sexual crimes, wept openly during the 30-minute press conference.</p>

<p>"Even though I'm autistic and live with cerebral palsy, I believe that nothing has affected me more or had a more lasting impact on my life than what Nick Carter did and said to me," she said.</p>

<p>"The probative value of a woman's testimony does not depend on her sexual history. It is patriarchal and sexist to suggest that a woman cannot be believed when she states that she was raped merely because she is sexually active."</p>

<p>In the concluding statements, the bench ordered the union government and state governments to ensure that guidelines laid down by the Department of Health and Family Welfare are implemented in government and private hospitals.&nbsp;</p>
