"There is one regret I have had throughout my life: that I never became the heavyweight boxing champion of the world. I would like my friend Evander Holyfield to know that today I feel like the heavyweight boxing champion of the world," he said to thunderous laughter of US lawmakers.

Evander Holyfield is the boxer whose ear was famously chomped off by Mike Tyson. The infamous match had taken place just three years before. Holyfield was heavyweight champion in early 90s.&nbsp;

Perhaps it took stature of Nelson Mandela to get away with regarding Queen of England as "Elizabeth". Mandela always spoke with the queen using her first name. He of course respected her. The queen, in turn, regarded him as 'Nelson'.

As per former British PM Gordon Brown's 2013 parliament speech, Mandela wanted a certain person from his tribe to get invited to Buckingham Palace. After trying diplomatic channels he decided to phone the queen directly.

His first words to Queen of England during the call reportedly were,"Hello Elizabeth, how's the Duke?". While the official records said the queen was non-committal in her assurances, Mandela got his way in the end.

British news outlet The Guardian on Friday (July 29) lost the legal challenge mounted against a previous decision banning the media from court case about Prince Philip's will. In September 2021, a High Court judge had ruled that will of Prince Philip, the late husband of UK Queen Elizabeth, should remain sealed for 90 years to protect privacy of the queen. Media organisations were not allowed to attend the hearing which was held in private.

The Guardian then launched legal action against the attorney general and the queen's private lawyers. It argued that media should have had access.

The appeal was dismissed. Senior judges Geoffrey Vos and Victoria Sharp ruled that access to media would have caused a publicity storm.

"The hearing was at a hugely sensitive time for the sovereign and her family, and those interests would not have been protected if there had been protracted hearings reported in the press," the judges found.

Guardian lawyer Caoilfhionn Gallagher had argued that "an entirely private hearing such as this is the most serious interference with open justice".

However, the judges held circumstances of the case to be 'exceptional'. They also observed that UK probate rules "allow wills and their values to be concealed from the public gaze in some cases".

"It is true that the law applies equally to the royal family, but that does not mean that the law produces the same outcomes in all situations."

Unlike those of ordinary members of the public, wills of the Windsor family are traditionally kept secret after their deaths.

As per The Guardian, more than 30 UK royals have been able to keep their wills secret since 1910 by applying at private court hearings.

Prince Philip, who was also known as the Duke of Edinburgh, died in April last year, just weeks short of his 100th birthday, after more than a month in hospital.

He and the Queen were married for 73 years.

UK newspaper loses appeal for public gaze on Prince Philip's will

The Guardian said that it had obtained a Scottish parliament memo to support the claim. The investigative report says that the mechanism of Queen's consent has been used in recent decades to vet legislations before they are presented in the parliament. The investigation revealed that as many as 67 legislations were vetted by the queen before they were tabled in the legislature.

The queen's representative reportedly refused to reveal how many times the mechanism has been used.

Queen Elizabeth and the royal family are supposed to be neutral as far as politics in the UK is concerned. The queen's position is supposed to be that of a ceremonial head. If the claims in the report are further substantiated by more such investigations, there is a likelihood that Queen Elizabeth's public image will take a beating.

Several polls have shown that British people are not as ardent followers of the royal family as they were in past. Numerous scandals, and controversies have meant that public image of the royals is relatively less robust.

'The Telegraph' has reported that Prince Andrew has asked the Queen to reinstate his royal status and lobbying to get back his title of Colonel of the Grenadier Guards.

The Duke of York, who is the second son of Queen Elizabeth, had stepped down from public life after the furore over his friendship with paedophile billionaire Jeffrey Epstein.

Earlier this year, he had settled a US civil case for sexual assault brought by a woman who claimed Epstein trafficked her for sex.

There was widespread criticism after he accompanied his mother to a memorial service to her late husband, Prince Philip, in March, although the Archbishop of Canterbury said this week Andrew was seeking to "make amends". That prompted speculation he was angling for a return to duties.

Prince Charles and his son Prince William honored the past and looked to the future Saturday as they paid tribute to Queen Elizabeth II at a star-studded concert outside Buckingham Palace celebrating the monarch's 70 years on the throne.

Diana Ross, rock band Queen, Duran Duran, Alicia Keys and others performed in front of some 22,000 people gathered on the Mall for the open-air Party at the Palace,&nbsp;which rounded up the third day of a four-day holiday weekend dedicated to celebrating the queen's Platinum Jubilee.

The 96-year-old monarch did not attend the concert, but she delighted the crowds when she appeared in a surprise video recorded with an animated version of another British national treasure: Paddington Bear.

The queen revealed she shared Paddington's love of marmalade sandwiches in a comedy skit that was shown to open the concert, which culminated in speeches by the monarch's son and grandson.

Charles opened his short speech by addressing the queen as "Your Majesty, mummy,&nbsp;then paid tribute to her lifetime of selfless service."

The queen's eldest son and heir recalled the ever-growing list of world leaders Elizabeth has met and the endless stacks of state papers she has reviewed during a reign that has now stretched from the early days of the Cold War to the information age.

But he also highlighted his mother's role as a symbol of stability, unifying the UK&nbsp;And the Commonwealth as they negotiated this rapidly changing world.

"You have met us and talked with us. You laugh and cry with us and, most importantly, you have been there for us, for these 70 years,"&nbsp;Charles said as scenes from the queen's life were projected on the palace walls. "You pledged to serve your whole life&nbsp;you continue to deliver. That is why we are here. That is what we celebrate tonight."

William preceded his father with remarks that underscored the queen's long-time commitment to the environment as he highlighted the need to combat climate change.

Recalling the queen's 1989 Christmas message, in which she called on all nations to work together to protect the earth for "our children and children's children," William said: "It's my firm hope that my grandmother's words are as true in 70 years' time as they are tonight, that as nations we come together in common cause, because then there is always room for hope."

The queen has not attended any of the festivities since Thursday due to what the palace describes as episodic mobility issues. But her absence at the concert didn't dampen the party atmosphere among the crowds.

"It's a magical experience ... (This is) never again going to happen in our lifetime, and it's just absolutely incredible to be a part of this,"&nbsp;said Sam Ahcquoim, from Cornwall in southwestern England. "I've been really, really excited and just can't wait to get in there now and start dancing."

The monarch also opted not to attend the Epsom Derby earlier Saturday, and was represented at the prestigious annual horse race by her daughter, Princess Anne.

The queen is widely known as an avid horse lover, and she has only missed the Epsom Derby a handful of times.

On Saturday, five of her former racehorses were paraded, and 40 jockeys who have ridden for the queen formed a guard of honour before the national anthem was played.

"She's been breeding horses for over 60 years. She knows all the blood lines and she's won lots of races and she's very knowledgeable," Frankie Dettori, who lined part of the course with fellow jockeys, told the BBC.

"I'm sure today she'll find a TV and she's going to watch it live, because she loves the Derby so much,"&nbsp;he added.

It was the second time in as many days that the queen's mobility issues have robbed crowds of a chance to see her.

On Friday, the queen skipped a special service of Thanksgiving in her honor at St. Paul's Cathedral in London. Palace officials said she had experienced 'some discomfort'&nbsp;at events the day before, which included waving to huge crowds from Buckingham Palace.

Prince Harry and his wife, Meghan, were among nearly 50 members of the royal family who gathered Friday at St. Paul's Cathedral to honor the absent head of state. It was the couple's first public appearance in the UK&nbsp;Since they stepped back from royal duties and moved to California two years ago.

Apart from attending Friday's service, the couple has so far stayed out of the limelight.

Their two children, Archie and Lilibet, who turned one Saturday, haven't yet made an appearance during this trip. A spokesperson for the couple said they were spending the day privately&nbsp;and were not joining some 30 other royals at Saturday's concert.

Meanwhile, members of the royal family travelled to Wales and Northern Ireland as part of celebrations across the UK.

William and his wife Kate brought two of their three children 8-year-old Prince George and 7-year-old Princess Charlotte&nbsp;to Cardiff Castle in Wales before a separate concert in the castle grounds in honour of the queen.

The queen's youngest son, Prince Edward, and his wife Sophie, Countess of Wessex, visited a 1950s-themed seaside funfair in Belfast. Edward tried his hand at pulling a pint of Guinness at a diner, while Sophie took in a 50s and '60s dance demonstration.

Britain`s four days of Platinum Jubilee celebrations to mark Queen Elizabeth`s 70 years on the throne conclude on Sunday with a pageant through central London, and with tens of thousands of people expected to take part in nationwide street parties.

Singer Ed Sheeran and more than 100 "national treasures" ranging from former soccer player Gary Lineker to children`s TV puppet Basil Brush will join military bands, performers and dancers in the parade through the capital.

The procession, which will follow a similar route the 96-year-old took on her coronation day in 1953, aims to evoke the different decades of her record-breaking reign.

There were will also be a series of "Big Jubilee Lunches" across Britain, with an estimated 16,000 street parties, and some 600 also being held across the globe, including in Canada, Brazil, New Zealand, Japan and South Africa.

The final day of festivities comes after her son and heir Prince Charles, 73, paid a personal tribute to his mother at a glittering pop concert outside Buckingham Palace on Saturday night.

This isn't the first time one of &nbsp;William's children has worn a hand-me-down from their father's closet. In 2015, 2-year-old Prince George, making his own Trooping debut on the Buckingham Palace balcony, wore a baby blue romper 31 years after William had worn the same outfit for the same occasion.

In 2019, Louis made his own balcony debut in uncle Harry's outfit. Harry had worn the blue-and-white shirt with matching shorts back in 1986 and had been pictured in his mother's arms, Princess Diana's arm on the same balcony.&nbsp;

Queen Elizabeth thanks everyone marking start of Platinum Jubilee celebrations

Actor Damian Lewis, author Ian Rankin and former Northern Ireland first minister Arlene Foster were among more than 1,100 people recognised by Britain's Queen Elizabeth in her annual birthday honours.

The list, which is issued to mark the 96-year-old monarch's official birthday, honours recipients for their "outstanding"&nbsp;contributions; most awards recognise public service or community work.

This year's honours come ahead of four days of national celebration, beginning on Thursday, to mark Elizabeth's 70 years on the throne.

"This historic Platinum Jubilee is not only a celebration of the monarch but of the qualities she possesses,"&nbsp;Prime Minister Boris Johnson said. "The honours she confers this week reflect many of those qualities that have been invaluable from all different walks of life and to communities across the UK."

Lewis, who won a Golden Globe for his role in the TV drama 'Homeland', was made a CBE (Commander of the Order of the British Empire) for services both to drama and to charity for initiating a campaign with his late wife Helen McCrory to raise 1 million pounds to provide food for health service workers during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Foster, who served as the first minister in the British province between 2016 and 2021, was among politicians to be honoured, and becomes a dame, while crime-writer Ian Rankin, creator of the acclaimed Inspector Rebus series, receives a knighthood.

Previously knighted author Salman Rushdie and renowned illustrator Quentin Blake, best known for his work in Roald Dahl`s books for children, were made Companions of Honour, of which there are only 65 at any one time.

From the world of sport, former England soccer player Rio Ferdinand was made an OBE (Officer of the Order of the British Empire), while Wales soccer captain Gareth Bale, Liverpool stalwart James Milner and England cricketer Moeen Ali were all made MBEs (Members of the Order of the British Empire).

Among the 1,134 people to receive honours was Angela Redgrave, founder and principal of the Bristol School of Dancing, who was awarded a British Empire Medal, and at 104 was the oldest recipient on the list.

This was the message from “the world’s first ultra-realistic humanoid robot artist” that made use of the artificial technology to create the portrait – something that was unimaginable few years ago.

British media reports said the lifelong horse lover spent almost an hour at the parade ring at the show, which is near her Windsor Castle home west of London.

Buckingham Palace announced on Monday night that the queen would not officially open parliament on Tuesday -- the first time she had missed the event since 1963.

There are many variations of Falooda and it can even be paired with an ice-cream. Falooda is one of Mumbaiites' go-to drink especially in summer months to beat the heat.

Shabnam Russo's Rose Falooda Cake appears a bit removed from the quintessential Mumbai dessert but incorporates elements of it. She describes her creation as 'a humble cake of the people'

'My falooda cake is a humble cake of the people and by qualifying, I felt I was representing people from all walks of life, their struggles, journeys, their hopes and aspirations," she said. She was quoted by Daily Mail.&nbsp;

'I hope it's inspiration for anyone really, that you can achieve anything if you just believe in yourself,' she added.

In a massive security breach, the intruder spent a night eating and drinking in the officer's mess yards away from Windsor Castle.

The fake priest was able to spoof his way into the Coldstream Guards barracks as he pretended to be a friend of the regiment's padre.

"Officers attended and removed the intruder from the barracks. No further action was required."

Following an attempt of a break-in at the Windsor Castle on Christmas, the Queen had started advertising for a new secuity officer at Hollyroodhouse Palace.

Our memory - short term and long term - starts fading, and it’s perfectly normal and a consequence of lesser brain activity caused partly by the shrinkage.

Age-related forgetfulness is not always a cause of Alzheimers’ disease or any such ailment. It just happens.

And the involuntary loss of muscle mass, which in fact starts in the 30s, becomes worse in the 60s onwards and leads to several mishaps and accidents that lead the elderly to be less active, wheel-chair bound, or bed-ridden.

I’ve cut some parts to bore you less, but you get the point. It’s a 12-hour work day. Some days are less packed than the others, but it’s generally a busy schedule.

This is in addition to the many other news interviews, speeches, public appearances, planned and unplanned media interactions.

Biden is no stranger to any of these. He is one of the longest-serving senators, and is not new to the White House, as he has been vice president before.

It's OK to make a political point against him. But to stalk his every move and troll him for being an elderly man smacks of ageism. 
 
Such micro-analyses may have cost Hillary Clinton the presidency when she contested against Donald Trump. When on the grueling campaign trail, a video caught her appearing to faint. She said she is fine, but the damage had been done, and may have contributed to a perception she's not fit to be president. Ageism, mixed with sexism, is a deadly cocktail. 
 
Similar attacks were made about Trump being overweight, having lost his marbles and being out of touch. But then, Trump kind of invited such criticism, almost reveling in it, as long as he is the headline.

A random check reveals many of them ruled past 80. 
 
Queen Elizabeth II of Britain just turned 96. Iranian Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei is 83. Palestinian leader Mahmoud Abbas is 86. The age range of the top 10 oldest leaders currently living and ruling is from 96 to 83. I rest my case.

May be the cultural insensitivity towards older people is what's reflected in the constant attention to Biden's gaffes. 
 
So, what is ageism? 
 
Simply put, it is the mental or attitudinal bullying of people based on their age. It may be active, passive, or passive-aggressive. 
 
World Health Organization defines ageism as “the stereotypes (how we think), prejudice (how we feel) and discrimination (how we act) towards others or oneself based on age.” 
 
We live in a youth-obsessed society. Looking younger and fitter than your age is a million-dollar industry. 
 
At the same time, we also live in a world where several countries have ageing populations, and it’s also an era of medical advancements that makes longevity possible. 
 
And the younger ones should not forget that, with some luck, we will all reach where Biden is now.
