Similar ceremonies will also take place at Edinburgh, York and the Windsor Palace.</p>

<p>King Charles III is expected to take an oath to preserve the Church of Scotland. He will also be making a similar oath regarding the Church of England but that takes place in the parliament.</p>

<p>The Guardian further reported that a carriage procession will be carried out after the official proclamation, and it will cover all major parts of London with troops standing on both sides.</p>

<p>The three main sites that the procession will visit are – Royal Exchange, the statue of King Charles I which is considered to the centre of the city, and Chancery Lane. The procession is expected to pass through Temple Bar – the ancient entrance to the city – where he will meet the mayor of London.</p>

<p>On entering the city, the procession is also expected to be greeted with gun salutes from Hyde Park and the Tower of London.</p>

<p>Queen Elizabeth II, born as Elizabeth Alexandra Mary on April 21, 1926, the longest serving monarch of the United Kingdom and 14 other sovereign countries, passed away at the Balmoral Castle in Aberdeenshire, Scotland, in the afternoon on Thursday (September 8), at the age of 96.&nbsp;</p>

<p>The Queen lived a fulfilling life and was blessed by four children, eight grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.</p>

<p>Queen Elizabeth II ruled for longer than any other monarch in British history, and was a much loved and respected figure across the globe. She was an important figurehead for the UK and the Commonwealth during times of enormous change.</p>

<p>The Queen was born on April 21, 1926, and christened on May 29 in the private chapel at Buckingham Palace.</p>

<p>Her family did not expect that she would become monarch one day and was expected to live a normal, if privileged, life. But everything changed in December 1936 when her uncle – King Edward VIII – decided to give up the throne to marry the woman he loved, twice-divorced American socialite Wallis Simpson, leaving her father as King, and her as next in line to the throne when she was 10 years old.</p>

<p>Princess Elizabeth’s father acceded to the throne as King George VI, and in 1937 she attended her parents’ coronation in Westminster Abbey.</p>

<p>She was educated at home and after her father became King in 1936 and she became heir presumptive (first in line to the throne), she started to study constitutional history and law as preparation for her future role.&nbsp;</p>

<p>She received tuition from her father, as well as sessions with Henry Marten, the Vice-Provost of Eton. She was also instructed in religion by the Archbishop of Canterbury.</p>

<p>She also learned French that later helped her in interaction with ambassadors and heads of state from French-speaking countries.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Elizabeth also studied art and music, learned to ride, and became a strong swimmer. She enrolled as a Girl Guide when she was 11, and later became a Sea Ranger.</p>

<p>She married navy lieutenant Philip Mountbatten, a Greek prince, at London's Westminster Abbey on Nov. 20, 1947.&nbsp;</p>

<p>The Queen had an enduring marriage with The Duke of Edinburgh and they supported each other and produced four children, eight grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Prince Charles, now The Prince of Wales, heir apparent to the throne, was born in 1948, and his sister, Princess Anne, now The Princess Royal, two years later.</p>

<p>After Princess Elizabeth became Queen, their third child, Prince Andrew, arrived in 1960 and the fourth, Prince Edward, in 1964. Prince Andrew and Prince Edward were the first children to be born to a reigning monarch since Queen Victoria had her family.&nbsp;<br />
She ascended the throne on the death of her father on Feb. 6, 1952 and was crowned on June 2, 1953 at Westminster Abbey, the first ever coronation to be televised.</p>

<p>At the time of her ascension, Josef Stalin, Mao Zedong and Harry Truman were leading the Soviet Union, China and the United States, while Winston Churchill was British prime minister.</p>

<p>On Sept. 9, 2015, she surpassed the 63 years, 7 months, 2 days, 16 hours and 23 minutes that her great-great-grandmother Queen Victoria had spent on the throne to become the country's longest-reigning monarch.</p>

<p>She was queen of United Kingdom, Australia, Canada, New Zealand, Jamaica, Antigua and Barbuda, the Bahamas, Belize, Grenada, Papua New Guinea, Solomon Islands, St Kitts and Nevis, St Lucia, St Vincent and the Grenadines, and Tuvalu.</p>

<p>She celebrated her Platinum Jubilee — the 70th anniversary of her accession — on Feb. 6, 2022.</p>

<p>She was Royal Patron or President of over 600 charities, military associations, professional bodies and public service organisations and provided them vital publicity for their work.</p>

<p>In 2007 The Queen and The Duke of Edinburgh became the first couple in the Royal Family to celebrate their Diamond Wedding anniversary (60 years).&nbsp;</p>

<p>Philip died in April 2021, aged 99.</p>

<p>Despite her busy programme and engagements as Head of State, she maintained hobbies and interests and being an animal lover since childhood, horses and dogs were her greatest passions.</p>

When Nizam of Hyderabad gifted 300 diamonds encrusted necklace to Queen Elizabeth

As UK enters 10-day mourning period, there are different types of mourning periods underway - there is a National mourning period that the government will officially end, then there is a period of Royal mourning which relates to all the royal households, buildings and properties.

<p>Queen Elizabeth II, Britain's longest-reigning monarch, died peacefully at her home in Scotland on Thursday at the age of 96. The next day, the front pages of newspapers in Britain carried poignant photographs of the Queen with heartfelt tributes.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Some of the papers, including The Times, Guardian, Daily Star and Independent, chose the most-defining image of the 27-year-old Elizabeth taken at her 1953 coronation.&nbsp;</p>

<p>In the image, the Queen is seen in full regal splendour clasping the Sovereign's Orb and Sceptre in the vaulted walls of Westminster Abbey. The photograph was on the front pages of The Times, Guardian, Daily Star and Independent.&nbsp;</p>

<p>The Telegraph used a famous, old quote from Queen, which was made for the victims of the September 11, 2001 attacks. "Grief is the price we pay for love," it said.&nbsp;</p>

<p>The Sun wrote in its header, "We loved you Ma'am." "Rest in peace, Ma'am. The Sun and our readers loved you. We are proud you were our Queen," it added.&nbsp;</p>

<p>"As God Save the Queen played on the radio and TV, as we heard that our beloved monarch had died, a nation's heart broke," it added.&nbsp;</p>

<p>The Sunday Times reported that Elizabeth's late husband, Prince Philip, left an estate worth £10 million, including an art collection of some 3,000 works. Reports mentioned that most of it was given to family and friends.&nbsp;</p>

<p>On one side, King Charles III inherits the Duchy of Lancaster, a private estate of commercial, agricultural and residential assets owned by royalty since the Middle Ages.&nbsp;</p>

<p>On the other hand, he will lose the Duchy of Cornwall, another private estate, in southwest England. It will go to Charles' eldest son, Prince William, who is now heir to the throne.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Importantly, the monarch is entitled to use his/her income and largely uses it to meet official expenditure. In the financial year 2021-22, it delivered a net surplus of £24.0 million.&nbsp;</p>

<p>King Charles II will receive the annual Sovereign Grant from the UK Treasury, which is set at 15 per cent of the profits from the Crown Estate.&nbsp;</p>

<p>The Sovereign Grant covers costs of official engagements for the monarch and other senior members of the royal family, paying the salaries of their staff and the upkeep of royal palaces.&nbsp;</p>

<p>In 2021-22, it was set at £86.3 million, equivalent to £1.29 per person in the UK, and included funding for the renovation of Buckingham Palace.</p>

<p>Queen Elizabeth II will receive the new UK prime minister at her Scottish Balmoral retreat instead of Buckingham Palace next Tuesday due to ongoing "mobility issues", the palace said Wednesday.</p>

<p>It will be the first so-called "kissing of the hands" ceremony to take place away from central London since Winston Churchill met the queen at Heathrow Airport in 1952 after she came to the throne.</p>

<p>The 96-year-old monarch will also first receive outgoing Prime Minister Boris Johnson at the remote estate in northeast Scotland as he tenders his resignation.</p>

<p>Traditionally, the new prime minister arrives soon afterwards and the queen, as head of state, asks them to form a government.</p>

<p>Foreign secretary Liz Truss is favourite to win the nomination from Conservative Party members, after Johnson announced in July he would quit after a series of scandals.</p>

<p>The winner of the contest is due to be announced on Monday.</p>

<p>The queen is on her traditional summer break in the Scottish Highlands, which usually lasts until October.</p>
