Donald Trump is blaming immigration for the France unrest. He claims Paris is 'going to be a Muslim city very soon'. Meanwhile, unrest is spreading across different parts of Europe.

Fires burn in Paris as violent protests, looting and attacks on businesses shake France. CCTV footage shows a phone shop being attacked in Nice, while a Paris grocery-store worker questions why rioters targeted his business. In a striking contrast, a couple is seen enjoying a drink on the edge of the unrest. The demonstrations have been fuelled by anger over the cost of living and deteriorating public services, but violence has intensified the political crisis. Students have blocked access to the Louvre, while far-right leader Marine Le Pen accuses President Emmanuel Macron’s government of losing authority. Watch the latest on the France protests in this video.

A major fire has destroyed a nearly 40-year-old market in Paris, engulfing a historic heritage site dating back to 1615. The blaze has raised concerns over the preservation of the French capital’s architectural heritage and the damage caused to the historic location. Authorities are expected to investigate the cause of the fire and assess the extent of the destruction.

Pope Leo XIV drew massive crowds in Paris, with hundreds of thousands gathering for an open-air Mass near the Champs-Élysées. The visit comes as the Catholic Church continues to confront a 2021 report that found roughly 330,000 French children were abused by clergy over seven decades. Before Mass at Lourdes, Leo is set to meet abuse survivors directly. He also called on Catholics to seek joy through faith. Watch the full coverage.

The Paris State Prosecutor’s Office has launched a preliminary investigation into allegations of institutional workplace bullying and psychological harassment within French government departments. The inquiry follows a formal legal complaint filed after a tragic series of incidents involving two employee suicides and two attempted suicides linked to services under the French Prime Minister’s office.

<p>An Australian woman has shared a horrifying experience she had in Paris, saying she was almost "trafficked" during a solo trip. Djanaya Hampton said in an Instagram post that it happened a year ago when she was in the French capital for her birthday. Two men befriended her at the Eiffel Tower, where she was waiting to see the sunset. People started noticing that she was alone, and this is when the men came and sat in front of her. The man was quite attractive and smiled at her, struck up a generic conversation and then asked her to join them at a party, but she refused.</p><p>&nbsp;</p><p>Hampton got suspicious at this point, saying they asked her to get a picture taken with them. He "grabbed and literally lifted" her. She covered her face at this point. She says in the video that her photo would have been posted on the black market, and she knew this from the movie "Taken."</p><p>The men then got up, approached a vendor and pointed at Hampton. "My heart literally sank at this moment," she said, adding that she had the "urge to run, get out of there, what is happening."&nbsp;</p><p>&nbsp;</p><p>In a bid to lose the men, she then FaceTimed her friend, told her about what had happened, and then went into several cafes and restaurants. Hampton tried to ensure no one was following her, and then went to the subway.<br>&nbsp;</p>

They sat around her to try and block the exits. Hampton's friend on the phone told her to get off at an extremely busy station. She got off at Notre Dame but didn't leave the station since it was a tunnel route, where she feared they would "grab" her. Hampton then got on the next train and told a guy about the men following her and asked for help. But he didn't speak English.</p><p>&nbsp;</p>

<p>She broke down and started crying, and the person she had approached asked her if she was OK. He started speaking in a foreign language, which luckily her friend on the phone was also familiar with. She explained the entire situation to him. The man accompanied her, assuring her that he was a security guard. He covered her with a jacket so that the other men wouldn't grab her. He then helped her get a cab, and she finally made it back to her Airbnb.</p><h2><strong>Hampton went to the Australian embassy</strong></h2><p>The driver told her she was "lucky" to have escaped; otherwise, she would have been out of the country by tomorrow. Hampton was left shocked by what happened to her. She explained in a second video that she went to the Australian embassy, where they arranged a flight for her the next day. They also cautioned her to avoid going to the police, as "9 out of 10 times", they are also involved in human trafficking because it makes so much money.</p><p>&nbsp;</p><p>Hampton stated that she is not "on the black market in Europe and would never return." While she doesn't explain what it fully means, people in the comments said that they could be on the lookout for her because her photo is on there. The incident left her shocked, and she has warned solo female travellers to be careful. She also says that such things happen in several countries, but they are mostly hidden.&nbsp;</p>

The woman from Australia said that she was extremely lucky to have escaped. She said a very good-looking man approached her in Paris and then tried to kidnap her. She went through a terrifying ordeal before making it out of the country.

An Australian woman has shared a horrifying experience she had in Paris, saying she was almost "trafficked" during a solo trip. Djanaya Hampton said in an Instagram post that it happened a year ago when she was in the French capital for her birthday. Two men befriended her at the Eiffel Tower, where she was waiting to see the sunset. People started noticing that she was alone, and this is when the men came and sat in front of her. The man was quite attractive and smiled at her, struck up a generic conversation and then asked her to join them at a party, but she refused. Hampton got suspicious at this point, saying they asked her to get a picture taken with them. He "grabbed and literally lifted" her. She covered her face at this point. She says in the video that her photo would have been posted on the black market, and she knew this from the movie "Taken." The men then got up, approached a vendor and pointed at Hampton. "My heart literally sank at this moment," she said, adding that she had the "urge to run, get out of there, what is happening." In a bid to lose the men, she then FaceTimed her friend, told her about what had happened, and then went into several cafes and restaurants. Hampton tried to ensure no one was following her, and then went to the subway.

<p>France is globally renowned for the iconic landmarks of Paris, yet the true heart of the country often lies tucked away in its quieter corners. For travellers seeking an authentic escape away from the crowded boulevards of the capital, France’s rural villages offer a glimpse into a slower, more traditional way of life. These hidden gems provide a peaceful retreat with historic architecture and local charm that remains largely untouched by the frenetic pace of urban tourism.</p><h3>1. Saint-Paul-de-Vence: A haven for artists</h3><p>Located in the Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur region, Saint-Paul-de-Vence is one of the oldest medieval towns on the French Riviera. Perched on a hill, it offers expansive views of the surrounding countryside. The village is historically significant for its association with artists, including Marc Chagall, who lived here for nearly two decades. Visitors often explore the narrow, cobblestone streets lined with contemporary art galleries and craft workshops, which maintain the village's long-standing artistic heritage.</p><h3>2. Colmar: The fairytale destination of Alsace</h3><p>Often described as a living museum, Colmar is situated in the Alsace region near the border with Germany. It is frequently noted for its well-preserved half-timbered houses, which date back to the Middle Ages and the Renaissance. The "Little Venice" (La Petite Venise) district is particularly popular, where traditional boats navigate the canal that winds through the historic centre. According to regional tourism data, the area's wine-growing heritage is a central component of its local economy, with the village serving as a hub for the Alsace Wine Route.</p><h3>3. Conques: A medieval pilgrimage site</h3><p>Tucked away in the Aveyron department, Conques is an essential stop for those interested in medieval history. The village is best known for the Abbey Church of Saint-Foy, a UNESCO World Heritage site and a key landmark on the ancient pilgrimage route to Santiago de Compostela.
