There were reports that the Federal Bureau of Investigation in Buffalo had arrested her again. The woman, named Svetlana Dali, is now scheduled to appear in court on Tuesday (Dec 17).

Buffalo, US A Russian woman earlier accused of stowing away on a flight from New York to Paris was arrested again while on her way to Canada, authorities confirmed on Monday (Dec 16). Following her Paris flight fiasco, she was held in Philadelphia and was ordered not to leave the area except for court proceedings or meetings with her lawyers. However, she allegedly cut off her GPS-monitoring ankle device and boarded a bus to Canada. The New York Times reported that the Federal Bureau of Investigation in Buffalo had arrested her again. The woman, named Svetlana Dali, is now scheduled to appear in court on Tuesday (Dec 17). Last month, Dali grabbed global headlines after managing to enter a Delta fight without a boarding pass. She was spotted at John F Kennedy International Airport on November 26. Later, it was revealed that she entered the aircraft “through a special lane for airline employees masked by a large Air Europa flight crew." The Transportation Security Administration (TSA) said in a statement, “This is the only reported case of unauthorized access when over 18 million passengers were screened at TSA security checkpoints during the busiest Thanksgiving travel season ever. No one has ever fully breached the TSA security screening process." As the plane took off, Delta employees quickly realised Dali was on the plane. The plane crew notified French law enforcement and the woman was arrested at Charles de Gaulle Airport on November 27. She was flown back to New York on December 4 and was taken into custody.
Islamabad's corridors of power were taken aback by shock when insurgents in Balochistan carried out large-scale coordinated attacks on the 18th death anniversary of Nawab Akbar Bugti, a Baloch nationalist leader killed by the Pakistani military in 2006.

The coordinated strikes that left more than 70 dead, were more widespread than any such assault in the past by the separatist Baloch Liberation Army.
Paris, France

The diplomatic fallout from the arrest of Telegram CEO Pavel Durov in Paris pushed the United Arab Emirates (UAE) to cancel its US$20 billion deal with France for 80 Rafale fighter jets. The Russian-born tech tycoon's detention by French authorities strained relations between the UAE and France, despite Durov’s release on bail.

Durov, who holds UAE citizenship alongside several other nationalities, was arrested last week at a Paris airport after arriving from Azerbaijan. The arrest was reportedly linked to accusations from French authorities, including allegations of financial crimes, cyber offenses, drug trafficking, and child exploitation on the Telegram platform. While Durov has consistently denied these allegations, claiming they are politically motivated due to his refusal to grant Western governments’ backdoor access to Telegram, the arrest has nonetheless triggered significant diplomatic repercussions.

In The Capitals this week, the focus of the most powerful individuals in Pakistan's capital Islamabad returned to insurgency in Balochistan after the separatists staged the biggest single-day attack on several locations on the anniversary of the killing of Baloch nationalist leader Nawab Akbar Bugti. The 'angels' — as The Capitals has reported in the past —have not prevailed yet this time around. Across the Ocean, Paris paid quite a hefty price for the arrest of Telegram CEO Pavel Durov. Meanwhile, New Delhi's efforts to lead the critical technologies boom appeared to be paying off. Read this in The Capitals this weekend. Islamabad, Pakistan Islamabad's corridors of power were taken aback by shock when insurgents in Balochistan carried out large-scale coordinated attacks on the 18th death anniversary of Nawab Akbar Bugti, a Baloch nationalist leader killed by the Pakistani military in 2006. The coordinated strikes that left more than 70 dead, were more widespread than any such assault in the past by the separatist Baloch Liberation Army. The attack continues to foreground Baloch armed separatism fuelled by decades of exploitation of impoverished Balochistan's natural resources. Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif vowed to eliminate the "terrorist threat" after he travelled to Quetta to address the unrest. × Sharif described the attacks as part of a "wicked scheme" orchestrated by the BLA and Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) "There has been a wave of great concern among the people across Pakistan due to the recent heartrending incident that occurred in Balochistan. Everyone is aggrieved by this incident," he said. The decades of "kill and dump policy", a reference to the abduction, disappearance, and killings of the Baloch dissidents by the Pakistani state, formulated the mistrust between ethnic Baloch people and Islamabad. This week appears to be the beginning of yet another violent chapter in Islamabad's Balochistan problem. Paris, France The diplomatic fallout from the arrest of Telegram CEO Pavel Durov in Paris pushed the United Arab Emirates (UAE) to cancel its US$20 billion deal with France for 80 Rafale fighter jets. French President Emmanuel Macron has attempted to mitigate the situation, stating that Durov’s arrest was not politically motivated and was unrelated to the Russia-Ukraine conflict. However, these assurances have done little to appease the UAE.
Even as France risks igniting a diplomatic war over the arrest of Telegram CEO, citing alleged promotion of criminal activities on the messaging app, French President Emmanuel Macron is continuing to actively use the social media platform.

Telegram boss Pavel Durov was detained in Paris last week amid allegations that his app enabled drug trafficking and exploitation of minors. However, despite these serious allegations by the government, French leaders are finding it difficult to abandon the popular platform.

European press reports claimed on August 26 that Macron was believed to have logged into Telegram “recently.” Not just the president, French lawmakers, cabinet members, and presidential advisers are also using Telegram regularly, as claimed by the report.

The French president, who boasts over 112,000 followers on the app, has been using Telegram since the early days of his first presidential campaign.

Macron earlier on Thursday said that granting citizenship to Durov was a “good” thing, saying he is a high-profile figure who learnt French and contributed to the nation.

“It’s part of a strategy to allow women and men, whether artists, athletes or entrepreneurs, when they make the effort to learn the French language and that they develop wealth, innovation … to be given French nationality,” Macron said.

He also claimed that he was totally unaware of Durov’s arrival in France before his detention on Saturday (Aug 24). Some media reports earlier quoted the Telegram boss as saying he planned to meet the French president during his visit.

“I was absolutely not aware of Mr Durov’s arrival in France,’’ Macron said, describing Durov’s arrest as “an independent act of French justice”. “It is false that I offered any kind of invitation to him,” he asserted.

Meanwhile, UAE has expressed serious concern over Durov’s arrest to the French authorities, given he is also a national of the West Asian nation.
