And over the next five days, the number of cases in the US surged to make it the new epicentre of the coronavirus with India's confirmed cases standing at over 1,000.

According to a study by a Washington University, as many as 2,300 patients could be dying in the US every day by April.

Coronavirus outbreak exposes leadership crisis in Pakistan

In a bid to automate the drive to disinfect the city, Bengaluru has deployed 6 hexacopter drones to do the job. The hexacopters, developed by city start-ups Alpha drones and Multiplex drones are equipped with the 15-litre capacity and are manoeuvred through the city localities to disinfect it.&nbsp;

'The drones have a 5km range but we insist to fly them in the line of sight. We control it from a maximum of 100mt distance. The drone can fly for 25-30 minutes depending on the size of the payload. With a 15litre capacity, it can fly for the same period depending on the surroundings. It moves at a pre-set speed of 6mts per second.' says Neelsagar, Alpha Drones.&nbsp;

The drones are being used to cover highly crowded areas like railway stations, bus stops, markets and some of the major slums in the city. The drones use the cetrifuger automiser pump technology that enables it to disperse the disinfectant on land and air simultaneously. The disinfectant is provided by the local administration.&nbsp;

'We have done around 170 flights through which we have covered 45 localities like Brigade Road, Church Street, Commercial Street, Shivajinagar bus stop, Malleshwaram, Nandini Layout etc. The flight time of the drones is around 7 hours a day' says Neelsagar.&nbsp;

Amid the coronavirus crisis which has now infected over 700,000 people worldwide, Russia is taking a different approach to deal with the pandemic.

As per official Moscow police data, 200 people who violated quarantine have been caught and fined. This was achieved using a 170,000 facial recognition camera system.

Many media reports indicated that many people had left their homes only for a minute before the camera had identified them.

All points of entries (POE) being manned &amp; monitored, establishment of joint Check Posts and joint patrolling with other Law Enforcement Agencies (LEAs) being carried out effectively," the government statement said.

Additional troops have been sent to the volatile region of Pakistan-occupied Kashmir, in areas like Kotli, Bhimber, Mirpur, Barnala, Muzafarabbad, Bagh, Kel and Rawalakot.

Out of the 1571, 857 people who tested positive for coronavirus were pilgrims who visited from Iran, which has taken a major hit owing to the virus. Additional 191 patients visited from outside the country, and the rest being local transmissions.

As of figures, 8,066 people continue to live in quarantine centres, with 4,365 undergoing mandatory testing. Out of these, 869 have tested positive so far.

Many experts fear that the number of infected patients right now is lower than the reported cases.

However, the numbers are low because of early measures, as claimed by Pakistan’s authorities.

Belarus President Alexander Lukashenko recently mocked what he calls the ''panic''&nbsp;gripping countries that have imposed lockdowns to minimise deaths.

Mexican politician causes uproar after suggesting poor people can't contract coronavirus

Amid the novel coronavirus pandemic that has shut out over three billion people from their respective societies, parents of children have been forced to skip routine immunisations, a UNICEF report said.&nbsp;

Owing to the pandemic, the health infrastructure around the globe has been overburdened, with all response being mitigated to contain the virus and to treat the infected.&nbsp;

UNICEF also noted that many world governments may have to halt their ongoing immunisation programmes to tackle the ongoing pandemic.

Owing to new social distancing norms in place, people are being forced to “make the difficult decision to defer routine immunisation", said UNICEF’s executive director Henrietta Fore.

Many countries around the world have been battling outbreaks of measles, cholera, and polio. These are mostly countries grappling with poverty and/or war, including Somalia, Afghanistan, the Philippines, South Sudan, Syria, and the Democratic Republic of Congo, AFP reported.

"At a time like this, these countries can ill-afford to face additional outbreaks of vaccine-preventable diseases," Fore added.

"Medical goods are in short supply and supply chains are under historic strain due to transport disruptions. Flight cancellations and trade restrictions by countries have severely constrained access to essential medicines, including vaccines".

Mass vaccination campaigns are organised by governments around the world to spread awareness and to contain outbreaks for which vaccinations are available. However, in the times of social distancing, such mobilisation of people is being neglected.&nbsp;

As per the recommendation by UNICEF, governments need an action plan to battle not only coronavirus, but to resume their ongoing vaccine programmes once the pandemic is under control.

World’s Health Organization programme on immunisation’s head Ann Lindstrand, spoke in sync with UNICEF’s concerns and further claimed that measles was a worrisome outbreak.

"This will be a particular challenge where vaccination coverage is already low," she told AFP.&nbsp;

"There is a risk that more people will die due to the indirect impact of COVID-19, because vaccination will go down. There will surely be more measles deaths."

Lim said the company is adding new machines every week, and could increase its production by as much as 30%.

This month, Top Glove stepped up its factory utilisation by 10% to 95% and expects to reach near maximum utilisation in April.
