Pakistan and Australia head into a winner-take-all third and final test from Monday as test cricket returns to Lahore's Gaddafi Stadium for the first time since the 2009 attack by gunmen on a bus carrying the Sri Lankan cricket team.

Top teams have largely shunned Pakistan since the attack that killed six policemen and two civilians with Australia visiting the country for the first time in 24 years.

"It's a different feeling to play in front of a home crowd, at my home ground. I can't explain this feeling," Babar told reporters on Sunday, adding that it will be a proud moment for the country and his team if they can win the series.

While Australia named an unchanged side from the one that failed to clinch a win in Karachi, Pakistan will take a call after taking a final look at the wicket.

Uncapped players Mohammad Haris and Asif Afridi on Thursday earned call-ups for Pakistan's white-ball series, comprising three ODIs and one-off T20I against Australia.

Left-arm spinner Asif and wicketkeeper-batter Haris have earned the selectors'&nbsp;nod to the squads led by Babar Azam as result of their impressive performances in the domestic circuit.

"I want to congratulate Asif and Haris on their inclusions in squads for the Australia series. This is a reward for their hard work and consistent performances in the domestic circuit. Their selections are also a message for all domestic players that their performances are being followed and whenever an opportunity arises, they will be rewarded with a national team call-up," said Muhammad Wasim, Chair of the Selection Committee.

In the recently concluded seventh edition of Pakistan Super League (PSL), Asif took eight wickets in five matches for Multan Sultans, while 20-year-old Haris scored 166 runs in five matches at an impressive strike-rate of 186.5 for Peshawar Zalmi. 
 
In the ongoing Pakistan Cup, Haris has already scored 219 runs in seven matches at an average of just under 44 for Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, while Asif has picked up eight wickets in seven matches for Khyber Pakhtunkhwa with an economy-rate of 4.39.

Haris was named in the Pakistan squad for the home series against New Zealand but the series couldn't be played at the time as the Kiwis returned home on the day of the series opener. 
 
"Australia are an equally outstanding team in the shorter formats of the game and, as such, we have decided to go with the best available and most experienced players. The four white-ball matches have significant context as the 50-over games count towards the 2023 World Cup qualification and the 20-over will be a repeat of the ICC Men's T20 World Cup 2021 semi-final. So, a lot to look-out for when the two sides will compete in coloured kits," added Wasim. 
 
Left-arm spinner Mohammad Nawaz, who didn't feature in the ongoing Benaud-Qadir Trophy due to a foot injury, has been drafted in the side for both the ODI and T20I formats. However, his selection in the playing line-up will be subject to fitness test. 
 
While a 20-member squad has been picked for the three-match ODI series that comes under the ODI Super League, the selectors have omitted Abdullah Shafique, Imam-Ul-Haq and Saud Shakeel from the group for the lone T20I. 
 
The white-ball players will assemble in Lahore on March 22 and will undergo a three-day room isolation following which they will join the national side. Australia are ranked third in ODIs apart from being reigning men's T20 World Cup champions.

He insisted that if a team is opting for a slow track, they should ensure it has turn on it for the game to have a result at the end of the five days. Akram said the ongoing Test series between Pakistan and Australia has been&nbsp;boring to watch for him.

“There is a method to making slow tracks. If you want to do that, on the basis of&nbsp;technicality, you roll the centre less and leave the area around the front foot a little dry so that the ball turns from day 1. If you want to make slow pitches at least make it a turner so that we get a result-oriented match. I hope they learn from it whoever is making the pitches. It is quite boring to be honest,” he added.

Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has been facing flak from all corners for the sub-standard in Rawalpindi for the recently-concluded first Test between the hosts and Australia. The first Test between the two sides ended in a draw with just 14 wickets falling over the course of the five days as none of the teams managed to churn out a result.

Batting first, Pakistan posted a huge total of 476/4 in their first innings of the Test match before Australia responded with a total of 459 runs in their first innings. Pakistan then went on to score 252 runs without losing a wicket in their second innings as the Test match ended in a draw.

Both the Pakistani and Australian bowlers struggled to pick wickets at regular intervals as batters enjoyed a field day on the flat track in Rawalpindi. In an honest assessment of the pitch after the drawn game, PCB chief Ramiz Raja admitted the game was not a good advertisement for Test cricket.&nbsp;

"A drawn match is never a good advertisement for Test cricket, and I totally understand that we need to get a result in five days these days, and we get it 90% [of the time], but I want to remind you of 2-3 things," Raja said in a video message posted on YouTube.

The PCB chief then went on to explain that the board has already identified the need to revive pitches across Pakitan and the work for the same has already begun. Raja also clarified that the board could not have offered a pace and bounce-friendly track for the very first Test as it would have meant the Aussies would have had the advantage.

"First of all, a number of headlines were in relation to the comments I made when I took over [as chairman] that pitches in Pakistan need to be redone, massively redone, but I took over in September and the season had already begun," said Raja.

"It takes 5-6 months to prepare pitches, and during the off-season, you will see - soil is coming from Australia; we've experimented, consulted soil experts and prepared soils, and we will redo 50-60 pitches all over Pakistan once our season ends in March-April.

"I understand the frustration of the fans - undoubtedly it would have been very good if we had a result, but this is a three-Test series, and we need to understand that a lot of cricket still remains to be played. Just for the heck of it, we can't prepare a fast pitch or a bouncy pitch and put the game in Australia's lap," he added.

The second Test of the three-match series between the two sides will be played at the National Stadium in Karachi from March 12.

Australian opener David Warner looked in fine form during the visitors' first innings of the ongoing first Test against Pakistan at the Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium in Rawalpindi. After Pakistan posted a huge total of 476/4 (declared) in their first innings, Australian openers Warner and Usman Khawaja got their team off to a solid start with a 156-run stand for the first wicket.

Warner enjoyed his duel against Pakistani pacers during his 68-run knock and was seen having some on-field banter with the likes of Shaheen Shah Afridi and Naseem Shah among others. Shah was seen trying to sledge Warne during his knock but the Australian batter laughed off his attempts and gave him a pat on his shoulder.

Shah beat Warner with some short balls and tried to have a go at the Aussie left-hander during the visitors' first innings. However, his aggressive attempts failed to trigger Warner. Shah hit Warner on his arm with one of his deliveries and walked down towards him in order to unsettle the veteran batter.

Warner also enjoyed some fun banter with Afridi and the duo was seen appreciating each other's skills while playing against each other during the first Test in Rawalpindi. Warner scored 68 off 114 balls before getting dismissed by Sajid Khan, who earned Pakistan their first breakthrough during Australia's first innings.

After a 156-run stand with Warner for the first wicket, Khawaja continued his brilliant run and missed out on a well-deserved hundred by just 3 runs as he scored 97 off 159 balls. Khawaja added 47 runs for the second wicket with Marnus Labuschagne, who went on to notch up 90 off 158 balls.

Steve Smith also completed his half-century on Day 4 as Australia crossed the 350-run mark in reply to Pakistan's first-innings total of 476 runs. The match is heading towards a draw after some splendid batting performances from both sides.
