PM Shehbaz has not yet delineated the agenda for the meeting, however,&nbsp;President Dr Arif Alvi's decision to return the&nbsp;Supreme Court (Practice and Procedure) Bill 2023,&nbsp;Justice Athar Minallah’s dissenting note and Supreme Court's verdict on polls would come under discussion, GEO News has reported.

The meeting will take place at the PM House with the prime minister in the chair to devise a strategy to address the matters surrounding the bill.&nbsp;

The report, quoting sources, further said that the cabinet is expected to also approve the decisions taken during the National Security Council (NSC) meeting that took place on Friday.&nbsp;

On Saturday, President Alvi returned the bill that seeks to curtail the Supreme Court chief justice's powers and asked the government to reconsider.

The bill seeks to clip the powers of the chief justice, especially relating to taking cases suo motu&nbsp;and the formation of benches.

Imran Khan’s Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) had strongly condemned the move to pass the legislation and said it is an "attack on the judiciary".

He further said that the Pakistan delegation would not visit any hydropower project being constructed on Pakistan rivers such as Jehlum and Chenab rivers. However, both sides would also hold further talks on some projects which in Pakistan`s viewpoint are not as per the provisions of the Indus Waters Treaty 1960.

With Imran Khan booted out of the office after losing the no-confidence motion, the battle for the new premiership is set to begin tomorrow (April 11) when Pakistan’s National Assembly (NA) will be reconvened to elect a new prime minister.

Khan’s Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) party has nominated former foreign minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi as PM candidate, while the joint opposition has named Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz’s (PML-N) Shehbaz Sharif, the brother of former PM Nawaz Sharif.

Both of them filed their nomination papers earlier today on Sunday which are being scrutinised.

According to Dawn newspaper, the NA secretariat had earlier issued a statement delaying the timing of submitting the nomination papers but later retracted it after the opposition members condemned the move.

According to the secretariat, the PTI had requested to delay the timings, reports the newspaper.

The National Assembly will reconvene on Monday at 2 pm (local time) where the voting will take place to elect a new prime minister.

Meanwhile, PTI Leader Fawad Chaudhry has said that if Shahbaz Sharif's nomination papers are accepted then they will be resigning en mass from the assemblies.

PTI also announced that they will stage protests across Pakistan today evening (Sunda), which will be led by Imran Khan.

On Saturday midnight, Khan was ousted from the prime minister’s office after the NA passed a no-confidence motion following a debate that lasted for more than 12 hours.

The session was chaired by Ayaz Sadiq — a member of the panel of chairs — after speaker Asad Qasier resigned from his post.

In the 342-member house, a majority of 174 MPs voted in favour of the resolution of vote of no-confidence against Imran Khan.

"174 members have recorded their votes in favour of the resolution, consequently the resolution for the vote on no-confidence against Imran Khan, the prime minister of Pakistan, has been passed by a majority," Ayaz Sadiq announced after the process of voting was completed.

Once the voting was concluded and the result was announced, Opposition leaders delivered their victory speeches.

During the television address, the Pakistan prime minister said: "Why did I come into politics is what I want to tell the people before anything else."

"Jinnah had the stature to come to politics. I thank God as he bestowed everything on me. Today too I don't need anything," the Pakistan prime minister said.

"The most disturbing thing in all of this that the people are in contact with the three stooges who are here, what do they(the country) want.&nbsp;They want the stooges to come in," he asked. "These people are convicts," he said.

"When we decided to go to Russia then we had taken everyone onboard,&nbsp;I had even called ambassadors here in this room and we collectively took a decision," he said on his Russian visit recently.

PM Imran also attacked Nawaz Sharif and said there were cases registered against him in the country.

"Why do these (stooges) suit them (West). Because they would not condemn the drone attacks. Even Karzai in Afghanistan used to condemn," he said.&nbsp;

"I took the cabinet into confidence,&nbsp;I took the national security committee into confidence.&nbsp;I took the document to the parliamentary committee too.&nbsp;In the end, Sunday would be the vote of no confidence," he said.

"I play till the last ball," he said on Sunday's vote. The cricketer-turned-politician said, "I have played cricket. Those who have played with me know&nbsp;I want all those against me to be seen who are doing the deal and voting."

"The coming generation will not forgive you.&nbsp;I&nbsp;will fight against it.&nbsp;I don't have any liability.&nbsp;I will live in my house and the treachery that is &nbsp;going to happen against the nation this Sunday. Do remember all those faces," he said.&nbsp;

Without offering any evidence, he alleged that India “was changing the demography” of Kashmir, which he termed it as a “war crime”.

Referring to India's decision to revoke temporary special status for Kashmir in August 2019, he said "nothing happened because they (India) feel no pressure."

With PM post at stake, Imran Khan rakes up Kashmir issue, says 'nobody takes OIC seriously'

Pakistani Prime Minister Imran Khan may lose the no-confidence motion in Parliament as three of his cabinet ministers are about to tender their resignation, a top leader from the party supporting the government said.

In an interview with Hum News on Tuesday, Chaudhry Parvez Elahi, whose Pakistan Muslim league-Quaid party is a key government partner with five members in the lower house National Assembly, asserted that the opposition had the support of “more than required” in order to pass the no-confidence plea.

"He is 100 per cent in trouble,” Elahi said, adding there are “plenty of surprises in store”.

"It's up to Imran Khan now to personally reach out to his allied parties and convince them to stay in the coalition government," Elahi said.

Elahi claimed that he had been offered Punjab’s chief minister position from the opposition alliance, adding that Khan’s Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) party had yet to make that offer.

However, hours after his explosive interview, Elahi struck a conciliatory note saying that his party had neither left the government nor decided to support the no-trust move against PM Imran Khan.

The Joint Chamber of Commerce between Afghanistan and Pakistan said that the agreement will allow the Afghan trucks to freely move in all Pakistani cities. 
 
"The governments of Afghanistan and Pakistan have agreed on it and it will soon become effective in practice," said Naqibullah Sapai, head of the Joint Chamber. 
 
Afghan traders said that the free movement of the trucks in Pakistan would help reduce the price of commodities. 
 
"Previously, the Afghan trucks were being fined while importing commodities from Karachi, but now these problems are resolved," said Zalmai Azimi, a trader.

Afghanistan, Pakistan agree on free movement of cargo trucks

“Prime Minister Imran Khan is by my boss, not my friend,” country’s Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Qamar Javed Bajwa reportedly said at a Parliamentary Committee of National Security (PCNS) meeting when he was queried by the members on the premier’s absence from the meeting.

The “light-hearted conversation” between the lawmakers and the military head took place on Monday when Bajwa was summoned to appraise the parliamentarians about the Afghanistan situation and national security, according to Pakistani-based outlet 24News.

However, Pakistan Prime Minister Khan was absent during the meeting. Taking note of Khan’s absence, Jamiat Ulema Islam Fazl group (JUI-F) leader Abdul Ghafoor Haideri asked Bajwa smilingly, “You came but did not bring your friend to this important meeting”.

Giving an abrupt reply to this query, General Bajwa said Imran was his boss, not his friend.

While the Nazis hate was directed at the Jews, the RSS directs it towards the Muslims and to a lesser extent towards the Christians."

"They believe that India is exclusively for Hindus and others are not equal citizens. The secularism of Gandhi and Nehru has been replaced by the dream of creating a Hindu Rashtra by subjugating, even cleansing India’s 200 million Muslims and other minorities."

"For over 72 years, India has illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir against the wishes of the Kashmiri people, and in blatant violation of the resolutions of the Security Council and indeed its own commitments to the people of Kashmir," he said.

"On 5th August last year, India illegally and unilaterally sought to change the status of the occupied territories and deployed additional troops, bringing the total number to 900,000, to impose a military siege on 8 million Kashmiris. All Kashmiri political leaders were incarcerated; about 13,000 Kashmiri youth were abducted and thousands tortured; a complete curfew was imposed, accompanied by a total communications blackout.&nbsp;

"The international community must investigate these grave violations and prosecute the Indian civil and military personnel involved in state terrorism and serious crimes against humanity, being perpetrated, I am sad to say, with complete impunity."

He continued, "The brave Kashmiri people will never submit to Indian occupation and oppression. Their struggle is indigenous. They are fighting for a just cause and generation after generation have laid down their lives to rid themselves of Indian occupation.

To this end, India must rescind the measures it has instituted since 5 August 2019, end its military siege and other gross human rights violations, and agree to resolve the Jammu &amp; Kashmir dispute in accordance with the relevant UN Security Council resolutions and of course the wishes of the people of Kashmir."

Pakistan's false claims did not stop here. The prime minister said Islamabad wanted a peaceful solution in Afghanistan too.

"I have consistently maintained over the past two decades that there is no military solution to the conflict in Afghanistan. The only way forward was and is a political settlement which involves the full spectrum of Afghanistan’s political actors," he said.

Khan added, "Pakistan is deeply gratified that it has fulfilled its part of the responsibility. The Afghan leaders must now seize this historic opportunity to achieve reconciliation and restore peace in their war-torn country."

Pak PM targets India at UNGA, terms it 'state sponsor' of Islamophobia

Pakistan&nbsp;Prime Minister Imran Khan had hoped a fight over cartoons of the Prophet Mohammed would result in an easy win,&nbsp;placating the ultra-conservative quarters at home while being hailed as a defender of Islam abroad.&nbsp;

The gamble seems to have backfired spectacularly.

For the past week, riots have again engulfed&nbsp;Pakistan, with police officers killed and taken hostage, and the French embassy taking the "urgent" step of advising its citizens to leave the country.

Khan is now scrambling to keep order, months after launching a war of words with President Emmanuel Macron following the French leader's defence of the magazine Charlie Hebdo's right to republish images of Mohammed, an act deemed blasphemous by many Muslims.

When Macron openly backed the magazine, Khan took up a crusade,&nbsp;accusing the French leader of insulting Islam and using an address to the United Nations as an opportunity to lambast the West.&nbsp;

But rather than appease the religious right, Khan's grievance appears only to have encouraged the extremists, with the radical Tehreek-e-Labbaik&nbsp;Pakistan&nbsp;(TLP) -- the Movement at the Service of the Prophet,&nbsp;calling for the expulsion of the French ambassador.&nbsp;

"I think the prime minister has realised that appeasing the radical forces isn't an easy task because when you try to please them they demand more and more," security analyst Amir Rana told AFP.&nbsp;

"So far he has failed to maintain the balance."&nbsp;

Protests turn violent&nbsp;

Few issues resonate in Islamic&nbsp;Pakistan&nbsp;quite like blasphemy, where the publication of the cartoons in Europe has long stoked outrage.

"No Pakistani politician or military dictator has or is going to challenge the idea that the honour and the sanctity of Islam and the prophet, and his person in particular, are not important to them," said political analyst Mosharraf Zaidi.&nbsp;

"Any time that the prime minister is representing that view, it's one that has salience in the Pakistani mainstream."&nbsp;

Khan's rhetoric coincided with a wave of Francophobia that prompted a nationwide boycott of French goods, and upstart party TLP sent its supporters into the streets.

The outrage quickly boiled over into violence.

In September, a Pakistani national stabbed two people outside Charlie Hebdo's former office in Paris just days after Khan railed against Islamophobia at the UN general summit.&nbsp;

The assailant later admitted to being inspired by the likes of Khadim Rizvi, the late leader of the TLP.

The protests in&nbsp;Pakistan&nbsp;reached a violent climax in November when the group laid siege to the capital, Islamabad, sparking days of fighting.

The violence only ended after Khan's government allegedly agreed to a deal with the TLP that would see the French ambassador booted out after receiving parliamentary approval.&nbsp;

But last week, the TLP said the government had reneged on the agreement,&nbsp;a deal officials have been vague about,&nbsp;and its new leader Saad Rizvi called for a march on Islamabad, to take place on Tuesday.&nbsp;

When his arrest was met with nationwide rioting, Khan's government retaliated by officially banning the TLP, effectively labelling them a terrorist outfit.

"No one can be above the law and the constitution," tweeted Khan over the weekend, where he also called for Western nations to outlaw blasphemous speech.

But even then he hedged his bets, suggesting he sympathised with their ideology, if not their methods.

Banning the TLP may have little impact, however, as other religious parties have now thrown their support behind the group.

"The Pakistani state has, over decades, actively fostered the ideology that led to the TLP and that leads many in the population to sympathise with the TLP," said Madiha Afzal, a Brookings Institution fellow.

"Khan attempted to try to thread this needle in his tweets about the group... but it is a tough line to walk: not disavowing the group's ideology and demands while taking action."

Khan appears to have few easy options -- crack down even harder on a group claiming to defend Islam and risk sparking a wider confrontation in the deeply religious country.&nbsp;&nbsp;

Or, the government can accede to some of the TLP's demands and embolden religious fanatics to continue using violence in the future as a potent bargaining chip.

"There is no doubt there is a bind," said Zaidi.&nbsp;

"Pakistan&nbsp;has to certainly manage its relationship not just with France and other nations and the rest of the world but it must also be seen to be responsive to the sentiments of Pakistani Muslims."

Pakistan PM Imran Khan battles fallout in France blasphemy row

Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan has said the onus of creating an "enabling environment" for progress in bilateral relations rests with India, though he welcomed the ceasefire agreement with New Delhi.

In his first comments since the militaries of India and Pakistan jointly announced on Thursday that they have agreed to strictly observe all agreements on the ceasefire along the Line of Control (LoC) and other sectors, Khan Saturday said Pakistan remains ready to move forward to resolve "all outstanding issues" with India through dialogue.

"I welcome restoration of the ceasefire along the LOC. The onus of creating an enabling environment for further progress rests with India. India must take necessary steps to meet the long-standing demand &amp; right of the Kashmiri people to self determination according to UNSC resolutions," Khan tweeted.

"We have always stood for peace &amp; remain ready to move forward to resolve all outstanding issues through dialogue," Khan said in a series of tweets.

India and Pakistan issued a joint statement on Thursday to strictly observe all agreements on ceasefire along the LoC and other sectors after hotline discussions by their Director Generals of Military Operations (DGMO). The decision by the two countries came into effect from the midnight of February 24/25.

In a series of tweets marking the second anniversary of Pakistan's retaliatory air strikes after the Indian Air Force (IAF) targetted a Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM) terror training camp at Balakot in 2019, Khan claimed that Pakistan have always stood for peace and remain ready to move forward to resolve all outstanding issues through dialogue.

He said that Pakistan also demonstrated to the world its "responsible behaviour" by returning the captured Indian pilot.

IAF warplanes hit a JeM terror training camp in Balakot on February 26, 2019 to avenge killing of 40 CRPF personnel in the Pulwama terror attack. Pakistan Air Force retaliated the next day but the IAF foiled the attack.

India has told Pakistan that it has no locus standi to comment on internal affairs of India, asserting that the union territories of Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh have been and will remain an integral part of the country.

New Delhi has been maintaining its stand that "talks and terror" cannot go together as it continues to ask Islamabad to take demonstrable steps against terror groups responsible for launching various attacks on India.

Ties between India and Pakistan nosedived after a terror attack on the Pathankot Air Force base in 2016 by terror groups based in the neighbouring country. Subsequent attacks, including one on Indian Army camp in Uri, further deteriorated the relationship.

The relationship dipped further after India's war planes pounded a JeM terrorist training camp deep inside Pakistan on February 26, 2019 in response to the Pulwama terror attack in which 40 CRPF jawans were killed.

Ties between India and Pakistan nosedived after a terror attack on the Pathankot Air Force base in 2016 by terror groups based in the neighbouring country. Subsequent attacks, including one on Indian Army camp in Uri, further deteriorated the relationship. Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) vice president Maryam Nawaz Sharif on Friday slammed Prime Minister Imran Khan for not visiting the Shia Hazaras protesting against the killing of coal miners in Balochistan and for suggesting that the demonstrators were "blackmailing" the premier.

Speaking at a press conference in Karachi, Maryam said Khan had admitted today that he was not going to Quetta because of his ego and stubbornness, reported Dawn.

"The nation wants to know what was the problem which prevented you from going and putting your hand on their heads. If this was due to obedience (tabedari), then the nation wants to know is obedience more important than the people's lives?" she said.

"If this is insensitivity and ruthlessness then tell the nation so we know not to look towards you in crisis and [know that] you won't come and call innocents blackmailers," added the PML-N leader.Maryam terming Khan's remarks 'devoid of humanity', adding that it was a `great failure` on the part of the government that the Hazaras, who were a vulnerable population and had been repeatedly targeted in the past again, became victim to a terrorism incident.

"When I asked them what are your demands, they said we have no demands, we only want the [prime minister] to come here and cover our wounds and reassure us that such events won`t happen again," she mentioned.

She further alleged that the Prime Minister had "time to watch dramas and play with dogs and soak the sun in huge lawns but did not have the time to partake in the pain and grief of the Hazara community". She also appealed to the Hazaras to bury their loved ones, telling them "the person you have kept hopes from has no heart in his chest".

Earlier today, the prime minister was widely criticised on social media when, amidst countrywide protests and rising political pressure, he suggested that the protesters were "blackmailing" him by refusing to bury their loved ones until he visits them, Dawn reported.

"We have accepted all of their demands. [But] one of their demands is that the dead will be buried when the premier visits. I have sent them a message that when all of your demands have been accepted [...] you don`t blackmail the prime minister of any country like this," Khan said on Friday while speaking at an event here.

On Sunday, unidentified gunmen stormed a coal mine in Machh town near Quetta, pulling out ethnic Hazaras, members of Pakistan`s Shia minority community, from their homes and opening fire on them.

The Islamic State claimed responsibility for the attack. Following the deadly attack, protests erupted in the region with the kin of the victims refusing to bury the dead until the government meets their demands.

The protestors have held several rounds of negotiations with members of Khan`s cabinet, including Interior Minister Sheikh Rasheed, but to no avail.

The National Commission on Human Rights has estimated that more than 2,000 Hazaras - adherents of the minority Shia Muslim sect, and easily targeted due to their distinctive facial features - have been killed in targeted attacks since 2004, Al Jazeera reported.

They have been subject to targeted shootings and mass bomb and suicide attacks, particularly in Quetta, where the majority of the country`s estimated half a million Hazaras reside.
