Furthermore, the country’s Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has also reportedly confirmed that it was this particular amoeba which was the cause of the patient’s death, indicated the statement. It added that the infection is also “extremely rare, and almost always fatal”.&nbsp;

Reports also suggest that Naegleria fowleri is most active during summers and found in bodies of water that are above 80 degrees Fahrenheit (27 degrees Celsius). Therefore, the CDC recommends swimmers protect themselves by holding their noses shut or wearing nose clips in warm freshwater and avoid digging or stirring up the sediment.&nbsp;

"And third, we know that this happened in the late '70s, early '80s (when) the mob was very prominent in Las Vegas."

But this week, the Nevada attorney general filed two charges of voter fraud against Hartle, 55, claiming that he was the one who forged his wife’s signature to vote with her ballot.

Ford, the attorney general, said in a statement Thursday. “I want to stress that our office will pursue any credible allegations of voter fraud and will work to bring any offenders to justice.”

The announcement from Ford’s office comes months after waves of Republicans, including former President Donald Trump, falsely asserted that the 2020 election had been tainted by widespread voter fraud, including in Nevada, a state that Trump lost.

Hartle, a registered Republican, was charged with voting using the name of another person and voting more than once in the same election, the attorney general’s office said in the statement. Each charge carries a prison sentence of up to four years and a fine of up to $5,000, prosecutors said.

The criminal complaint did not explain how prosecutors came to the conclusion that Hartle had committed voter fraud. Questions sent to the office of Ford, a Democrat elected to the position in 2018, were not immediately responded to Saturday.

David Chesnoff, a lawyer for Hartle, said in a statement that his client “looks forward to responding to the allegations in court.” Hartle is scheduled to appear Nov. 18 in the Las Vegas Township Justice Court.

The Nevada Republican Party had cited Hartle’s story as evidence of voting irregularities on Twitter last year, saying that Hartle “was surprised to find that his late wife Rosemarie, a Republican, cast a ballot in this year's election despite having passed away” in 2017.

Since the announcement of the charges against Hartle, the party has not corrected the record, said Callum Ingram, an assistant professor of political science at the University of Nevada, Reno.

“The state Republican Party has been pretty quiet certainly on this case since the narrative got flipped on its head,” Ingram said in an interview on Saturday.

Hartle is the chief financial officer and treasurer for Ahern Rentals, according to his LinkedIn profile. The business rents out construction equipment and is a part of the Ahern Family of Companies. One of its businesses, Xtreme Manufacturing, was fined $3,000 in 2020 for hosting a Trump rally that did not comply with the state’s COVID regulations at the time, said Kathleen Richards, a spokesperson for the city of Henderson, Nevada.

Nevada was among several states dealing with dubious claims of voter fraud after the presidential election last November.

Nevada Secretary of State Barbara Cegavske said in a document posted in December titled “Facts vs. Myths” that there was no evidence of large-scale voter fraud in the state.

Cegavske’s office led the investigation of Hartle’s case.

“Our office takes voter fraud very seriously,” Cegavske said in the statement released by Ford’s office. “Our securities division worked hard to bring this case to a close.”

Conservative news outlets spread Hartle’s story. After the state Republican Party highlighted the case on Twitter, conservative commentator Dinesh D’Souza discussed the case on his show. Then Fox News host Tucker Carlson promoted Hartle’s account, saying, “We don’t know who did this. We wish we did, because it’s fraud.”

Nevada man is charged with voting using his dead wife’s ballot

In what could lead to the cancellation of cargo and passenger fights, the airport catering to the&nbsp;second largest metro area of&nbsp;Nevada state in the United States has been&nbsp;facing an acute shortage of&nbsp;jet fuel.&nbsp;

It can result in&nbsp;potential restriction of&nbsp;the flow of tourists and essential goods into the northern part of the state.

In a statement late on Saturday, the political leaders of the state pledged to minimise disruption at the Reno-Tahoe International Airport. They also said that they will&nbsp;ensure the aerial fight against Western wildfires isn't hampered.

The passengers have been advised to check with their airline for any delays in order to avoid any kind of inconvenience.

The airport, which is the nearest passenger terminal to Lake Tahoe, also serves Reno, a popular gambling destination.

Gov&nbsp;Steve Sisolak, Sens&nbsp;Catherine Cortez Masto and Jacky Rosen, and US Rep&nbsp;Mark Amodei&nbsp;wrote, "To be clear, further failure to secure adequate fuel supplies is unacceptable."

According to Washoe County police, a&nbsp;42-year-old&nbsp;US woman&nbsp;broke into a dentist’s office, stole money and pulled 13 teeth from an unconscious patient on two separate occasions.&nbsp;

Laurel Eich, who is not a dentist, broke into a dental office where she claimed to have&nbsp;worked earlier, said the police.&nbsp;

During the May 3 break-in, Eich&nbsp;allegedly stole $22,861 in cash and checks,&nbsp;the Washoe County Sheriff's Office said in a press release.&nbsp;&nbsp;

She also&nbsp;broke-in on&nbsp;a different date to perform the&nbsp;tooth extraction,&nbsp;Eich told&nbsp;the police.&nbsp;&nbsp;

The accused woman was arrested and charged with two counts of burglary and one count each of grand larceny, conspiracy to commit burglary and perform surgery on another without a medical&nbsp;licence.&nbsp;

As per a Daily Mail report, the woman, who is a&nbsp;resident of Reno, allegedly performed the extractions 'on her own time'.&nbsp;

After, or if, the Nevada state Governor Steve Sisolak signs the bill, the state of Nevada will become third state to opt for mail-in ballots this year after California and Vermont decided to prioritise their citizens' health.&nbsp;Utah, Colorado, Hawaii, Oregon and Washington have been following mail-in ballot since few years now, making Nevada the seventh state in total.

Trump on Monday said he has the right to issue an executive order on mail-in voting but he has't gotten to it yet.

Nevada mailed ballots to voters ahead of its primary election in June and encouraged residents not to risk in-person voting.

US&nbsp;Senator <a href="https://www.wionews.com/world/three-swing-district-democrats-back-joe-bidens-presidential-bid-272511">Elizabeth Warren</a>, one of the leading Democratic presidential contenders who has vowed to get money out of politics, blasted Bloomberg when he launched his campaign with a $37-million TV advertising blitz, accusing the former New York City mayor of trying to buy American democracy.

"These are just political things they say, hoping they catch on and they don't like me doing it, because it competes with them, not because it's bad policy," Bloomberg said.

After entering the race late and missing the first six Democratic debates, Bloomberg generally sits fifth in national public opinion polls behind <a href="https://www.wionews.com/world/us-senate-leader-ready-to-pass-impeachment-trial-rules-without-democrats-272835">Joe Biden</a>, <a href="https://www.wionews.com/world/white-house-gives-lawmakers-formal-notice-of-iraq-strike-amid-complaints-from-democrats-272196">Bernie Sanders</a>, Warren and <a href="https://www.wionews.com/world/democratic-candidate-warren-discloses-details-of-past-legal-work-showing-2-million-in-compensation-267187">Pete Buttigieg</a>.

But not just the two liberal standard-bearers of Warren and Sanders, all of the four are too liberal to beat Trump, Bloomberg said.

"One of the reasons I'm reasonably confident I could beat Trump is I would be acceptable to the moderate <a href="https://www.wionews.com/world/texass-greg-abbott-becomes-first-to-refuse-refugees-order-given-by-president-donald-trump-273510">Republicans</a> you have to have," said Bloomberg, a former Republican who made his fortune selling financial information to Wall Street firms.

"Whether you like it or not, you can’t win the election unless you get moderate Republicans to cross the line. The others are much too liberal for them and they would certainly vote for <a href="https://www.wionews.com/world/us-house-of-representatives-curbs-trumps-war-power-amid-iran-tensions-273283">Donald Trump</a>."

After a late entry into the race, he is skipping the first four Democratic nomination contests in Iowa, New Hampshire, Nevada and South Carolina all due to take place in February.

Instead, Bloomberg is waging a nationwide campaign to capture delegates in later contests such as Texas, which will be the second-largest prize among the 14 Super Tuesday states.

At campaign events in San Antonio, Austin and Dallas in Texas on Saturday, Bloomberg said his bipartisan nature made it more likely he could deliver on his pledges to expand health insurance coverage, fight climate change and reduce gun violence.

While his speeches drew modest crowds of no more than a few hundred in Austin and fewer still in San Antonio, many who attended said they were independents or former Trump supporters who had learned about Bloomberg through his massive advertising campaign.

"He’s better than Trump," said Marcelo Montemayor, 75, who listened to Bloomberg speak at a taco restaurant in San Antonio.

Montemayor voted for Trump in 2016 but worries the president’s conservative appointees to federal courts could undermine <a href="https://www.wionews.com/world/united-states-supreme-court-leaves-kentucky-abortion-restriction-in-place-267309">abortion rights</a>.

Bloomberg's television ads have dominated the airwaves both nationwide and in Texas.

That exceeds the combined spending nationwide by Democratic frontrunners in 2019, according to a Wesleyan Media Project analysis of Kantar/CMAG television ad data through mid-December.

And for this year's Super Bowl broadcast on February&nbsp;2 in Miami, Trump and Bloomberg both plan to air a 60-second television commercial, a prime example of their ability to devote vast resources to reach millions of viewers.

Trump campaign officials said the campaign paid $10 million for air time. Last year’s <a href="https://www.wionews.com/sports/former-commissioner-david-stern-dies-at-77-made-league-truly-global-brand-271536">National Football League</a> championship game drew nearly 100 million viewers.

"You can't get to 330 million people by shaking hands. Television is still the magic medium," Bloomberg said.

An Indian-American cardiologist in Nevada has been arrested on the charges of unlawful distribution of prescription opioids and healthcare fraud.

The accused, Dr Devendra Patel, today appeared in a federal court in Reno city of Nevada. He was charged with 36 counts of distribution of controlled substances such as oxycodone and hydrocodone, and three-counts of healthcare fraud.

The statutory maximum penalty for distribution of a controlled substance is 10 years in prison and the maximum penalty for healthcare fraud is 10 years in prison.

Federal prosecutors alleged that from May 2014 to September 2017, Patel routinely prescribed fentanyl, hydrocodone, and oxycodone for his patients without a legitimate medical purpose and that he fraudulently billed Medicare and Medicaid for medical tests that he did not perform.

The indictment alleges that Patel performed EKGs on his patients, so he could then order nuclear stress tests which he did not administer.

He allegedly used a poorly calibrated machine and presented his patients with fraudulent X-rays, in order to deceive his patients into thinking they had coronary issues that needed to be treated by him, the indictment alleged.
