Mitchell and Williamson were sure that there was an inside edge but there wasn't any spike on snicko&nbsp;but the TV replays clearly showed there was an inside edge.&nbsp;

The windy conditions here could just be the shot that Trent Boult would need as he again marks his run-up.&nbsp;

And that's where Dhoni's presence will be a factor in that middle order which still doesn't rock solid if skipper Virat Kohli isn't around.&nbsp;

Assistant coach Sanjay Bangar confirmed that Dhoni is fit and available for the game.&nbsp;

"Yes, he is fit and will be playing the fifth ODI," Bangar told reporters on the eve of the game.&nbsp;

Dhoni's calmness in anchoring the innings will be priceless and young Shubman Gill might make the way in the playing XI as the World Cup preparations hit full swing.&nbsp;

When asked if there can be an ideal bowling combination, the skipper said: "Depends on the all-rounder to be honest. If you see the strongest sides in the world, they have two all-rounders at the least, some sides have three, so that gives you a lot of bowling options." 
 
For Kohli, a third fast bowler is an option only when a specialist all-rounder is unavailable. 
 
"Only if someone like a Vijay Shankar or a Hardik doesn't play, then (only) three fast bowlers makes sense. Because if an all-rounder can chip in with a few overs of seam up, then you don't necessarily need a guy bowling 140kmph as the third bowler along with the two fast bowlers," Kohli said ahead of the first ODI at McLean Park. 
 
Kohli, in a very subtle yet strong manner, put across his point about Hardik's absence from the side. 
 
"So whether it's me backing three bowlers or during Asia Cup, every time it happened when Hardik wasn't available. We have had to play three fast bowlers. So every time, the all-rounder is there, you are not thinking about a third fast bowler unless you are playing in conditions which are totally against spin bowling," the skipper said. 
 
While winning the series is important, the Indian captain made it clear that he would like to remain flexible about team combination keeping the World Cup in mind. 
 
"Look winning is always going to be a very important factor but the main thing is not to be desperate at this stage. There needs to be a good atmosphere in the change room, there needs to be calmness and collective effort towards just refining ourselves as a team approaching the World Cup." 
 
Kohli indicated that a few players could be tried here and there, raising hopes of young Shubman Gill getting an opportunity during the series. 
 
"Also to try a few players here and there and see how they react to different situations or different positions in the team. We are open to doing that as well.&nbsp; 
 
"You don't want to be too rigid because you want to be flexible in your mind and in your preparation to be able to competitive during a big tournament like the World Cup," the skipper explained. 
 
"I think we need a good balance of both even if we back a few players to play at some stage, the idea is still to win the games and not just think of it as an experiment," he set priorities right. 
 
New Zealand grounds presents a different challenge for bowlers with the boundaries on the shorter side. 
 
"You have to aware of side boundaries being really short in most of the grounds, so targeting the right areas of the ground becomes very important but I think bowlers require more composure here in terms of which are the shots that batsmen want to play, so you have the best chance of getting them out or restricting boundaries," the skipper observed. 
 
The current batting group is much more experienced compared to the one in 2014, said the skipper. 
 
"Well we have seen a lot of things that happened from the last series (2014) that we played here, like what were patterns and how the guys were trying to get us out last time, we were probably not an experienced a side back then in terms of batting group," he stated.

The jury is still out on whether Mahendra Singh Dhoni's much-acclaimed finishing powers are on the wane or not but former Australia captain Ian Chappell still considers the World Cup-winning former skipper as the "best finisher" in 50-over format.

Dhoni was recently awarded the Man of the series for his match-winning knocks which helped India win their maiden ODI series in Australia.Chappell saluted the former India skipper's nerve and longevity.

"Nobody has Dhoni's nerve for finishing off victories. Many times I've thought, "He's left it too late this time", only to be amazed as he produced a couple of powerful shots to bring India a nail-biting victory," Chappell wrote in his column in ESPNcricinfo.

"His outward calm is no illusion since his tactical adeptness in these situations is proof his brain continues to work perfectly."

Drawing a comparison with Michael Bevan, who is considered to be one of the greatest finisher of the game, Chappell said Dhoni has surpassed the former Australian number six.

"Where Bevan finished matches with fours, Dhoni does so with sixes. The one area - running between wickets - where you'd expect the fleet-footed Bevan to have an advantage is debatable, because even at age 37, Dhoni is among the quickest in the game," he wrote.

Indian skipper Virat Kohli fell four-run short of his half-century and was dismissed for 46 by Jhye Richardson. Kohli's inning came in 62 balls and included just three boundaries. Earlier, India lost opener Rohit Sharma early in chase of 231 set by Australia in the third and final ODI at the Melbourne cricket ground on Friday. With Shikhar Dhawan skipper Virat Kohli on the crease, India's score stands at 26 for the loss of one wicket after 10 overs. Earlier, spinner Yuzvendra Chahal displayed a fiery spell of bowling to clinch six wickets and restrict Australia for a mere 230 runs in the third and final ODI against India on Friday. The legspinner picked up 6 for 42 and was well supported by Bhuvi and Shami, who picked two each. Just when the hosts recovered from the early losses, Chahal clinched three wickets in quick intervals - of two set batsmen and another - to make India dominate the game. Both Usman Khawaja and Shaun Marsh were dismissed off Chahal while trying to hit a shot. While Marsh was stumped by MS Dhoni, Khawaja caught and bowl by the bowler. Marcus Stoinis was the third player to be dismissed by the right-arm leg spinner. However, it was Peter Handscomb crucial 58 runs that helped Australia revive their inning. He too was dismissed by Chahal at a point when he was all set to take the game away from the Men in Blue. Handscomb is also the highest scoring player with the bat as the rest nine failed to reach the fifty digit mark. Marsh contributed 39 runs and Khwaja made 34 before giving away their wickets. Pacer Bhuvneshwar Kumar too struck twice after the rain break to dismiss Australian openers Alex Carey and Aaron Finch early. He also took a brilliant catch of Glenn Maxwell to hand Shami his first wicket of the game. Apart from Kumar, Mohammed Shami also clinched two wickets and gave away 47 runs in his 9.4 overs bowled.
