"I am certain that we are going to see more cases. First, health authorities are now – very actively – looking for cases, so we are more likely to spot people with mild versions which we might previously have missed or misdiagnosed," Hammer said as quoted by The Guardian.&nbsp;

"In addition, monkeypox has an incubation period of between one and three weeks so it is likely we will see new infections among those who were in early contact with the outbreak’s first cases," he added.&nbsp;

Britain's health authorities are investigating four more cases of rare viral monkeypox infection which have been diagnosed in England taking the total confirmed cases since May 6 to seven.

The UK Health Security Agency (UKHSA) said investigations were underway to establish links between the latest four cases who appear to have been infected in London and do not have known connections with the other three cases.

All of the necessary infectious control procedures have been followed and we are working closely with UKHSA and NHS England,'' said Professor Julian Redhead, medical director at Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust.

''We are contacting any potential close contacts of the case. We are also working with the NHS to reach any healthcare contacts who have had close contact with the cases prior to confirmation of their infection, to assess them as necessary and provide advice,'' Brown said.

“The patient is being treated in our specialist isolation unit at St Thomas’ hospital by expert clinical staff with strict infection prevention proceduresm,” said Dr Nicholas Price, Director NHSE High Consequence Infection Diseases (airborne) Network and Consultant in Infectious Diseases at Guy’s and St Thomas’.

In the UK, the first case of monkeypox was recorded in 2018 with the infected person reporting symptoms of fever, headache, muscle ache, backache, swollen lymph nodes, and exhaustion.

People infected with monkeypox can also develop rashes that often spreads throughout the body before finally forming a scab, which later falls off.

Public Health officials in UK's North Wales said two cases of monkeypox had been reported in the region.

After one of them contracted monkeypox while abroad, Public Health Wales (PHW) confirmed that two members of the same family had developed the disease, which causes pains, fever, and a scabby rash.&nbsp;

Both Public Health Wales and Public Health England are keeping track of the two people's hospitalisation in England.&nbsp;

"Confirmed cases of monkeypox are a rare event in the UK, and the risk to the general public is very low. We have worked with multi-agency colleagues, following tried and tested protocols and procedures, and identified all close contacts. Actions have been put in place to minimise the likelihood of further infection," said Richard Firth, PHW's consultant in health protection.

What is Monkeypox?&nbsp;

According to the World Health Organization, the monkeypox virus causes an illness with symptoms that are comparable to smallpox but are less severe (WHO).

Fever, rash, and enlarged lymph nodes are common symptoms of the infection.
