Former England footballer Wayne Rooney has praised up-and-coming star Jude Bellingham while warning English supporters not to "kill" the Real Madrid midfielder if his form takes a dip sometime.&nbsp;

The 20-year-old has been tearing up in La Liga with Real Madrid, ever since his high-profile summer transfer and has been in phenomenal touch for the national side as well.&nbsp;

“He’s on such a good run of form and what’s important is that when [his form dips] — and&nbsp;it will dip at some point — we don’t kill him and we get behind him and stick with him,” Rooney said.

“It happens to all players and it will happen to Jude. We’ve seen it with Marcus [Rashford] and Raheem [Sterling] as well."

The former Manchester United striker said Bellingham had all the makings of becoming an all-timer and could even sport the captain's armband in the future.&nbsp;

“Jude has got the potential to be one of, if not the best, if he carries on the way he is going, so I think we really have to support him because in my eyes he’s the future captain of England. We need to protect him and really look at him as the future of England.”

<h2>Bellingham's meteoric rise&nbsp;</h2>

Rooney looking after Bellingham doesn't&nbsp;come as a surprise as he himself burst onto the scene as a 16-year-old before retiring at the age of 31 from&nbsp;international football. The United player was a classic case of a talent peaking early in the career before the weight of expectations became too heavy to carry.&nbsp;

Bellingham has scored 10 goals for Real in all competitions so far and was instrumental in England securing a Euro 2024 spot. During the game against Italy earlier this week, Bellingham helped the 'Three Lions' complete a comeback by winning the first penalty while assisting Marcus Rashford for the second goal.&nbsp;

Apart from his footballing prowess, Bellingham is being lauded by football pundits for having a calm head on his shoulders, especially at the ripe age of 20. Such has been Bellingham's influence that Championship side Birmingham City retired his jersey number 22 at the age of 17 while Borussia Dortmund allowed him to captain the side in the Champions League.&nbsp;

'Don’t kill him...': Wayne Rooney warns English fans regarding Jude Bellingham

After months of speculation, Qatari&nbsp;banker Sheikh Jassim bin Hamad Al Thani has withdrawn from the process of buying Manchester United, according to multiple reports.&nbsp;The current owners of United, the Glazer family was informed about the Qatari businessman's decision late Saturday evening.&nbsp;&nbsp;

Jassim's offer, which valued the club at $3.5&nbsp;billion was believed to be the only bid for 100 per cent of the club. He had committed an&nbsp;additional initial amount of over $1.5 billion for the club and was ready to finance new stadium plans, new training centre facilities,&nbsp;buy players, and fast-track city/community regeneration projects, according to football journalist Fabrizio Romano.&nbsp;

The withdrawal comes after Sheikh Jassim launched a fifth and final bid in June to get over the line. However, the reluctance of the Glazers to let go of the complete ownership of the club meant that the deal remained stuck, testing the patience of the Qatari businessman.&nbsp;

After Sheikh Jassim's withdrawal,&nbsp;British businessman Sir Jim Ratcliffe's Ineos Group remains the only bidder. According to a BBC report, Ratcliffe is now attempting to conclude a deal for a minority stake in the club, thought to be around 25 per cent.&nbsp;

<h2>Sheikh Jassim's initial bid</h2>

Sheikh Jassim, the chairman of one of Qatar’s biggest banks had filed an initial bid for the complete ownership of the club&nbsp;in February, earlier this year, after the Glazers announced plans to sell the club in November last year.&nbsp;

For a long time, a vocal section of United fanbase has been demanding that Glazers give up their control of the club, primarily due to their poor decision-making involving the benefit of the club.&nbsp;

Football: Qatar's Sheikh Jassim withdraws from race to buy Manchester United from Glazers

Scott McTominay's two stoppage-time goals gave Manchester United a dramatic 2-1 win at home against Brentford, while 10-man Tottenham climbed to the top of the Premier League after a 1-0 victory at Luton on Saturday.

Troubled United were just moments away from a third defeat in the space of seven days at Old Trafford before McTominay came to the rescue.

Beaten by Crystal Palace last weekend and then Galatasaray in the Champions League on Tuesday, Erik ten Hag's side were breached in shambolic fashion after 26 minutes.

Casemiro gave the ball away under no pressure, Victor Lindelof made a hash of his attempted clearance and Mathias Jensen's low shot beat Andre Onana's weak save.

Against a Brentford team without a win since August 19, ninth placed United were booed off at half-time and laboured for long periods before finally equalising in the 90th minute.

McTominay came off the bench to level three minutes into stoppage-time with a close-range strike.

And the Scotland midfielder won it in the 97th minute, producing a powerful header from Maguire's assist to ease the pressure on Ten Hag.

At Kenilworth Road, Tottenham midfielder Yves Bissouma was sent off just before half-time, earning a needless second booking for diving.

But Mickey van de Ven's first goal for the club soon after the interval clinched unbeaten Tottenham's sixth win in eight league games.

Ange Postecoglou's side sit two points clear of second placed Manchester City, who travel to title rivals Arsenal on Sunday.

"We showed a lot of character and resilience. We started really well, should have been three or four up, but then you get the red card and it is a different type of game," Postecoglou said.

"The players want to change the destiny of this football club and that is what they are trying to do on the pitch," the Australian added of the best unbeaten start any Tottenham manager has made.

<h2>Sterling shines</h2>

Raheem Sterling proved a point to England manager Gareth Southgate by inspiring Chelsea's 4-1 rout of Burnley.

Sterling has again been left out of the England squad for the forthcoming matches against Australia and Italy.

But the winger showed his class by playing a role in three Chelsea goals at Turf Moor as Mauricio Pochettino's team won for a third successive game in all competitions.

French teenager Wilson Odobert celebrated his first Premier League start by giving Burnley a shock lead after 15 minutes.

Chelsea equalised in the 42nd minute when Ameen Al-Dakhil accidently diverted Sterling's cross into the net for an own goal.

The Blues went head five minutes into the second half after Sterling was fouled by Vitinho and Cole Palmer converted the penalty for his first goal since signing from Manchester City in August.

Sterling capped his virtuoso display in the 65th minute with a clinical finish from Conor Gallagher's pass, with Nicolas Jackson netting Chelsea's fourth 10 minutes later.

Everton cruised to a 3-0 win against second bottom Bournemouth at Goodison Park.

Sean Dyche's side took an eighth minute lead when James Garner bagged his second goal in three games.

Jack Harrison scored Everton's second with a superb 30-yard lob that caught Neto off his line in the 37th minute.

Abdoulaye Doucoure's close-range finish on the hour wrapped up Everton's second league victory this season.

Fulham beat winless Sheffield United 3-1 thanks to Bobby De Cordova-Reid's opener, Wes Foderingham's own goal and Willian's late strike.

Antonee Robinson's own goal had briefly drawn bottom of the table United level at Craven Cottage before their late collapse.

Premier League: Scott McTominay's dramatic double lifts Man Utd as 10-man Spurs go top

Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag believes the Red Devils will work their way out of an early season crisis after facing questions over whether he fears losing his job.

United have lost six of their last nine matches after they lost 3-2 at home by Galatasaray on Tuesday.

The English giants have lost their opening two games of the Champions League group stage for the first time.

Also Read:&nbsp;<a href="https://www.wionews.com/sports/var-audio-released-after-blunder-over-liverpool-forward-diazs-disallowed-goal-642302">VAR audio released after blunder over Liverpool forward Diaz's disallowed goal</a>

United are also off to their worst ever start to a Premier League season after losing four of their opening seven matches.

Ten Hag enjoyed a successful first season at Old Trafford, leading the club back into the Champions League by finishing third in the Premier League and ending a six-year trophy drought by lifting the League Cup.

"Last season went brilliant, terrific, more than we could expect," said the former Ajax boss.&nbsp;

"Also when we went into this project we knew there would be gaps. In this moment we are in a very difficult period as everyone can see but we (will) come out together.

"We are fighting together, we stick together, we are behind each other. Me, the directors, the team all together we will fight. This is not us. We know we have to do better and in togetherness we will come out (of this situation)."

Goalkeeper Andre Onana had another night to forget as his difficult start to life at United goes on.

He accepted responsibility for United's 4-3 defeat at Bayern Munich two weeks ago after a handling error led to the Germans' opening goal.

The Cameroonian was signed from Inter Milan for £47 million primarily for his ability to play the ball out from the back.

But Onana's slack pass straight to Dries Mertens proved the crucial point in the game as Casemiro dived in to bring the Galatasaray forward down and was shown a second yellow card on 77 minutes.

Mauro Icardi fired the resulting penalty wide, but made amends four minutes later by dinking the ball over Onana for the winner.

Onana was part of the Ajax side that reached the Champions League semi-finals in 2019 and helped Inter reach the final of the competition last season.

Ten Hag defended his player when asked if Onana should be dropped.

"Andre was in one semi-final of the Champions League and last season he was in the final of the Champions League, so yes he has the capabilities to be one of the best goalkeepers in the world.

"He's showed that and he will do. We have already seen in games his great capabilities and personality. When he makes mistakes, he will bounce back."

Football: Ten Hag urges Manchester United to stick together amid crisis

Out of favour Manchester United winger Jadon Sancho is likely to leave the club in January, Sky Sports Germany has claimed. Ever since Sancho had a fallout with manager Erik ten Hag, the former has been banished from the main squad and currently finds himself isolated from competitive football.&nbsp;

The report states that Sancho might secure a loan move, come the winter transfer window, instead of a permanent transfer. Sancho's most likely destination is expected to be his former club Borussia Dortmund. The Bundesliga club and its head coach&nbsp;Edin Terzic are understood to have been in regular contact with the England international, the report added.&nbsp;

Sancho has barely kicked the ball this season and it looks highly unlikely that he will don the United jersey ever again if one goes by Ten Hag's comments. Quizzed last month over Sancho's availability, the Dutch gave a straight answer.&nbsp;

"I don't know. I am sitting here. Tomorrow we have a big game, we are going into a new block of games, many games in a condensed programme. I focus on that," said Ten Hag.&nbsp;

"He is not available, so in this moment, he is not important, because he can't contribute."

The United boss added that he had inherited a club with&nbsp;"no good culture" when he took over the reins, replacing Ralf Rangnick.

"It's in favour of the team. That is what my decision is based on," said Hag, justifying the decision to bin Sancho.&nbsp;

"That is not about me, and to be strict. No. This is in favour of the team. I don't think about that (Sancho's tweet) and I don't talk about that, because I have to win a game. It is all about that."

<h2>What happened with Sancho?</h2>

Sancho has been marginalised to the fringes and is currently training away from United's first team after the former Borussia Dortmund player had a go at Ten Hag following the Dutch's comments on him.&nbsp;

Notably, United signed Sancho from Borussia Dortmund for a record fee of $100 million. At the time, Sancho was touted as one of the brightest stars on the horizon.&nbsp;

However, his failure to adjust to the pace of the league brought him excessive criticism from fans and critics alike. His fallout with Ten Hag might have been the final straw for his United career. experts argue.&nbsp;

Jadon Sancho likely to leave Manchester United for this club after fallout with Erik ten Hag

British billionaire Jim Ratcliffe is considering changing his bid and offering to buy a minority stake in Manchester United, according to reports on Monday.

Ratcliffe, founder of chemicals giant INEOS, emerged as one of two leading candidates to purchase the 20-time English champions, along with Qatari banker Sheikh Jassim Bin Hamad Al Thani.

A lengthy takeover saga has followed, with numerous bids entered by both boyhood fan Ratcliffe and Sheikh Jassim, but no progress has been made over any potential change of ownership from the Glazer family, who announced in November they were open to selling the club.

United's valuation on the New York Stock Exchange plummeted last month after reports the Glazers may not sell.

It is now being reported that Ratcliffe could target a minority stake in the Premier League giants.

Sky News said Ratcliffe could seek a stake of about 25 per cent as part of a proposal to try to bring the drawn-out sale process to an end, having initially wanted to complete a majority takeover.

If the Glazers accepted this new reported offer, the American family would retain majority control of the club they bought in 2005.

The Glazers are deeply unpopular with United's supporters, who accuse the family of having saddled the club with debt and not investing enough.

Thousands of fans took part in an hour-long sit-in at Old Trafford after a 3-2 win over Nottingham Forest in August.

United have started the Premier League season poorly, losing four of their opening seven games to sit 10th in the table.

ALSO READ | EXCLUSIVE | Want to set new benchmark for women athletes in India - Jyothi Yarraji after Asian Games success Sky News said Ratcliffe could seek a stake of about 25 per cent as part of a proposal to try to bring the drawn-out sale process to an end, having initially wanted to complete a majority takeover. Champions League: Manchester United face Galatasaray at home, record champions Real Madrid travel to Naples

Manchester United winger Antony could return for Tuesday's Champions League clash against Galatasaray, manager Erik ten Hag said on Monday.

The 23-year-old has not played for United since the first week of September and was withdrawn from Brazil's squad for two World Cup qualifying matches amid police investigations into assault allegations made by his former girlfriend Gabriela Cavallin.

Antony has denied any wrongdoing.

Last week, the Premier League club confirmed that Antony would resume training. The club had earlier agreed to allow the Brazilian to take a period of absence.

"Antony will be in consideration. Yesterday was his first time back in team training. We have final training and then we make a decision," Ten Hag told reporters ahead of Tuesday's home game against Turkish champions Galatasaray.

"He will be in consideration, yes... He co-operated fully and it's come out that he's not charged."

Ten Hag also confirmed that Argentine Lisandro Martinez would have to undergo surgery for a foot injury. The United defender has been ruled out of action for an extended period, after aggravating an injury he suffered in April.

United go into their game against Galatasaray off the back of a 1-0 loss to Crystal Palace on Saturday which dropped them down to 10th in the Premier League standings.

It was their fourth league defeat of the season -- making this their worst start to a top-flight campaign since 1989-90.

Despite United's recent struggles, Ten Hag said his team were "moving forward", adding: "You have to make adjustments. We don't have a full-back on the left side. There are shortages in our game.

"A lot of positives, but at the end of the day it is about results and we didn't get it."

United are bottom of Group A in the Champions League, after a 4-3 defeat at Bayern Munich in their opening match last month, but defender Raphael Varane said they possessed the quality to win the Champions League.

"You need to be efficient to win trophies. We have the quality in the squad to win competitions. We have to move forward and improve," Varane told reporters.

"The competition is difficult, you have to take care of every detail but we have a team of quality, of good mentality.

"We have to make some improvements, it was not the start to the season we expected but I still believe we have the quality to compete with the best teams in the world."

Champions League: Manchester United star set for return in Galatasaray clash, confirms Ten Hag

Manchester City's perfect start to the Premier League season came undone in a shock 2-1 loss to Wolves, while Manchester United slumped to a 1-0 home defeat to Crystal Palace on Saturday.

Arsenal closed to within a point of the lead by cruising to a 4-0 win at Bournemouth, while Aston Villa thrashed Brighton 6-1 to move into the top four.

City had won the opening six games of their title defence as they aim to become the first side to ever claim four consecutive English top-flight titles.

By contrast, Wolves had taken just four points from their first six games but stunned the champions at Molineux.

Ruben Dias' own goal put the home side in front, but City responded after the break through Julian Alvarez's free-kick.

Wolves, though, were a constant threat on the counter-attack and got their reward when Hwang Hee-Chan swept home at the second attempt 25 minutes from time.

City's defeat means Liverpool can go top should they end Tottenham's unbeaten Premier League start under Ange Postecoglou in the 1615GMT kick off.

United have now lost four of their opening seven league games of the season to pile more pressure on Erik ten Hag.

Joachim&nbsp;Andersen's stunning first-half volley separated the sides at Old Trafford.

United had won a League Cup meeting between the sides 3-0 in midweek.

But with Palace restored to full strength, the Red Devils suffered from a familiar lack of cutting edge up front as they laboured to get back into the game.

Defeat sees United slip to 10th in the table.

<h2>Arsenal up to second&nbsp;</h2>

Arsenal moved up to second as Mikel Arteta's men eased to victory at Bournemouth.

Bukayo Saka had been an injury doubt, but headed into an empty net to open the scoring on his 87th consecutive Premier League appearance.

Saka could have had more had he not then handed over penalty duties.

Martin Odegaard has shared responsibility from the spot with Saka this season and the Norwegian slotted home Arsenal's second before the break.

Both Saka and Odegaard then stood aside to give Kai Havertz the confidence boost of his first goal for the club when the Gunners were awarded a second spot-kick on 53 minutes.

Ben White rounded off the scoring in stoppage time.

Newcastle's recovery from a slow start to the season continues as the Magpies overcame Burnley 2-0.

Miguel Almiron fired into the top corner to open the scoring and Alexander Isak's penalty secured the points 14 minutes from time.

Ollie Watkins bagged a hat-trick in Villa's stunning demolition of Brighton.

Two goals from the England striker and a Pervis Estupinan own goal put Villa 3-0 up inside 26 minutes.

Ansu Fati reduced the deficit with his first Brighton goal.

But the day belonged to Watkins and he became the first Villa player in 47 years to score two hat-tricks in one season.

Jacob Ramsey and Douglas Luiz piled on the pain for Brighton in the closing stages and did enough to edge Villa ahead of the Seagulls on goal difference.

"We are feeling strong here with the supporters, we are connected with them," said Villa boss Unai Emery after a 10th consecutive home Premier League win.

Luton secured their first ever Premier League win with a 2-1 victory at Everton.

Tom Lockyer and Carlton Morris were on target for the Hatters, who climb out of the relegation zone.

Sheffield United remain bottom after the Blades were beaten 2-0 at West Ham with Jarrod Bowen and Michail Antonio getting the goals for David Moyes' men.

Manchester United’s star forward Marcus Rashford escaped unhurt in an unfortunate late-night car accident following the Burnley game on Saturday. The England international is said to have not sustained any injuries, while his white Rolls Royce got damaged in the crash. As per several reports emerging&nbsp;from the UK, United’s captain, Bruno Fernandes, reached the scene on time and helped Rashford get out unhurt.

The incident happened when Rashford left Manchester United’s Carrington training ground for home in his car.&nbsp;

In the videos and photos surfacing online, Rashford’s car first hit the lamppost before ramming into another a few yards ahead. The police also reached the accident scene on time and did their usual investigation without making any arrests and letting go of Rashford.

Speaking to the media after the game, Ten Hag said this win will overturn United’s fortune this season.

"This is only one win, but what we have seen is that there is togetherness and fight - a real good spirit in the dressing room," said Ten Hag. "What we have seen is when you have to defend with 11 and do it together, it is very difficult to play against this Manchester United."

Meanwhile, Manchester United will host Crystal Palace in the EFL Cup on Wednesday, September 27, and then again three days later in the Premier League.&nbsp;

The left-winger Rashford, in 245 appearances in the Premier League, has scored 77 goals, assisting 38 times.

This season, he would be United’s go-to-forward in the absence of several first-team players.&nbsp;

"This is only one win, but what we have seen is that there is togetherness and fight - a real good spirit in the dressing room," said Ten Hag. "What we have seen is when you have to defend with 11 and do it together, it is very difficult to play against this Manchester United." Meanwhile, Manchester United will host Crystal Palace in the EFL Cup on Wednesday, September 27, and then again three days later in the Premier League. The left-winger Rashford, in 245 appearances in the Premier League, has scored 77 goals, assisting 38 times. This season, he would be United’s go-to-forward in the absence of several first-team players. WATCH WION LIVE HERE You can now write for wionews.com and be a part of the community. Marcus Rashford escapes unhurt in late-night car accident following Manchester United’s 1-0 win over Burnley

Former Manchester United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has admitted the club's re-signing of Cristiano Ronaldo "turned out wrong".

Solskjaer was in charge when United brought the five-time Ballon d'Or winner back to Old Trafford in a much-hyped move in August 2021.

At the time, the transfer was viewed as a coup that could potentially fuel a Premier League title challenge for the Red Devils, who had finished second the previous season.

But things soon unravelled as the team struggled and Solskjaer was sacked in November that year.

Ronaldo left the club in acrimonious fashion 12 months later and currently plays his football in the Saudi Pro League with Al Nassr.

"It was about taking the next step to challenge for the title. And, unfortunately, it just didn't work out," Solskjaer told the Athletic.

"It was a decision that was very difficult to turn down and I felt we had to take it, but it turned out wrong."

"It felt so right when he signed and the fans felt that at that Newcastle game (when he scored twice), when Old Trafford was rocking. He was still one of the best goalscorers in the world, he was looking strong."

But the Norwegian added: "When you have a group you need everyone to pull in the same direction. When things didn't go right, you could see certain players and egos came out."

Solskjaer was also the manager when the club signed England defender Harry Maguire in 2019.

The Norwegian feels the recent criticism, and even ridiculing of Maguire, has been unfair.

He said: "Harry Maguire -- it's a disgrace that he's getting so much abuse. I feel sorry for him, but he's a strong lad and I hope it turns for him."

"He raised our defence big time when he arrived and lifted the mood around the place."

United, with Dutchman Erik ten Hag now at the helm, have not won the Premier League since 2013 and are currently 13th in the table after three defeats in their first five matches.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer admits mistake of resigning Cristiano Ronaldo to Manchester United

Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag is starting to feel the heat from frustrated fans of the Red Devils after a disastrous start to the season has left hopes of Premier League glory already looking forlorn.

For the first time in the Premier League era United have lost three of their opening five games and face a daunting task to open their Champions League campaign away to Bayern Munich on Wednesday.

Also Read:&nbsp;<a href="https://www.wionews.com/sports/no-jenni-hermoso-in-spain-squad-uefa-womens-nations-league-637277">No Jenni Hermoso in Spain squad UEFA Women’s Nation’s League</a>

Ten Hag had been sheltered from criticism in the early weeks of the campaign as supporters concentrated their anger towards a series of off-field issues.

Despite the fans' desire to see them gone, the Glazer family appear to have put a process to sell the club on hold.

Brazilian winger Antony has been given a leave of absence to fight domestic abuse allegations made by his ex-girlfriend.

Meanwhile, United decided Mason Greenwood had no future at Old Trafford last month despite abuse charges against the 21-year-old being dropped.

Ten Hag was credited for returning United to the Champions League by finishing third in the Premier League last season and ending the club's six-year trophy drought by winning the League Cup.

However, he was the target for a chorus of boos when he substituted new signing Rasmus Hojlund midway through the second-half of Saturday's 3-1 home defeat to Brighton.

The Dutch coach tried to spin that moment into a positive show of support for Hojlund, who was making his home debut after a £64 million ($79 million) move from Atalanta.

The Dane has only recently returned to fitness and Ten Hag could ill afford to lose another key player by forcing him to play 90 minutes too soon.

But United's bet on the 20-year&nbsp;coming good in the long run could face a backlash should they be undone by Harry Kane in Germany.

Despite their need for a striker, United never tested Tottenham's resolve for the England captain, who instead joined Bayern in a 100 million euro ($110 million, £86 million) deal.

Kane has hit the ground running with four goals in as many starts, while Hojlund is yet to find the net for United.

<h2>Sancho disciplined</h2>

To add to United's woes going forward, winger Jadon Sancho is also absent from first-team action due to a spat with his manager.

Sancho, who cost £73 million from Borussia Dortmund just two years ago, has been ordered to train on his own after claiming he was a "scapegoat" when Ten Hag criticised his poor performances in training.

Ten Hag's disciplinarian streak was heralded as part of his success in his first season as even Cristiano Ronaldo and Marcus Rashford were not afforded special treatment.

The United boss is yet to face much fan fury for his latest stance as Sancho has failed to live up to his price tag.

But that decision has upped the pressure on Ten Hag to lift the mood around the club with an upturn in results on the pitch.

With United already trailing local rivals Manchester City by nine points in the Premier League, making an impact on the Champions League is even more vital to the success or failure of Ten Hag's second season.

"It's about character," said Ten Hag, ahead of his return to Munich, where he coached the Bayern B team between 2013 and 2015.

"Now we have to see how strong we are, how the team sticks together and which players are standing up and showing the character and leading the team."

Champions League: Erik ten Hag faces heat from fans as Manchester United gear up for Bayern Munich clash

Manchester United's crisis deepened on Saturday as Brighton's Danny Welbeck scored in a 3-1 win against his old club while Manchester City beat West Ham to stay perfect in the Premier League.

Liverpool had a brief taste of life at the top, beating Wolves 3-1 in the early kick-off, while Tottenham scored two goals in stoppage time to beat Sheffield United.

The season is spiralling out of control for Erik ten Hag's United, who started the campaign in buoyant mood after ending their trophy drought and finishing third in the league last season.&nbsp;

Some fans dreamed of a long-overdue title challenge but instead they find themselves trailing leaders City by nine points after a third chastening defeat in five matches.

United started brightly at Old Trafford, desperate to put their nightmare start to the season behind them but former youth player Welbeck silenced the home fans in the 20th minute.

A 53rd-minute goal by Pascal Gross gave United a mountain to climb and substitute Joao Pedro made it 3-0 before a consolation for Hannibal Mejbri.

Brighton's fourth straight league win against United lifted them to third in the table.

Ten Hag, in his second season at Old Trafford, now has a huge job on his hands to save United's season, besieged by problems on and off the pitch.

Jadon Sancho has been exiled from first-team training after a public spat with the manager while fellow forward Antony has been given a leave of absence to address domestic abuse allegations, which he denies.

Protests continue in the stands against unpopular owners the Glazer family, who appear to have put their attempt to sell the club on hold.

<h2>City on charge</h2>

Champions Manchester City continue to churn out the wins, even though Pep Guardiola's men did not have it all their own way at the London Stadium, trailing to a James Ward-Prowse goal in the first half.

Jeremy Doku equalised early in the second period and Bernardo Silva put City 2-1 before Erling Haaland's seventh goal of the season guaranteed a fifth win in five games.

City's win lifts them to 15 points, two clear of Liverpool at the top of the table.

Earlier, Jurgen Klopp's men roused themselves after an anaemic first-half display against Wolves, recovering from a goal down following a first period that Wolves dominated.

Cody Gakpo scored 10 minutes into the second period and Andy Robertson finished neatly in the 85th minute before an own goal from Hugo Bueno added gloss to the scoreline.

It was the third time this season that Liverpool have come from behind to win.

Klopp said his team deserved to win the game after their powerful second-half performance but stressed that they could not afford to keep falling behind.

"Turning games around is helpful in a season but we cannot rely on it, we cannot," he told the BBC.

"We have to play better in the first half of games generally. We are not stable yet, that is not possible. Too many things are new."

Sheffield United looked to be on track for their first win of the season at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

But Spurs grabbed an equaliser in the 98th minute when Richarlison headed home Ivan Perisic's corner to set up a grandstand finish, with 12 minutes of additional time at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium and Dejan Kulusevski scored the winner.

Aston Villa scored three late goals to beat Crystal Palace 3-1.

The London side led 1-0 courtesy of Odsonne Edouard's first-half goal but Jhon Duran equalised in the 87th minute.

Douglas Luiz scored a penalty deep into stoppage time to put Villa in front and Leon Bailey made it 3-1.

Fulham's Carlos Vinicius condemned Premier League new boys Luton to a fourth consecutive defeat.

Struggling Newcastle host Brentford in the evening kick-off.

Premier League: Brighton thump Man Utd as Man City come from behind; Richarlison leads Spurs comeback

Manchester United Manager Erik ten Hag is 'unsure' if exiled forward Jadon Sancho would ever don the iconic Manchester United jersey again, after the fallout between the two.&nbsp;

Speaking ahead of his side's Premier League contest against Brighton after the international break, Ten Hag said:&nbsp;"I don't know. I am sitting here. Tomorrow we have a big game, we are going into a new block of games, many games in a condensed programme. I focus on that."

Further quizzed about the controversy surrounding the issue, on the eve of an important game for his team, Ten Hag looked visibly frustrated.&nbsp;

"He is not available, so in this moment, he is not important, because he can't contribute," an irked Ten Hag said.

The United boss added that he had inherited a club with&nbsp;"no good culture" when he took over the reins, replacing Ralf Rangnick.

"It's in favour of the team. That is what my decision is based on," said Hag, justifying the decision to bin Sancho.&nbsp;

"That is not about me, and to be strict. No. This is in favour of the team. I don't think about that (Sancho's tweet) and I don't talk about that, because I have to win a game. It is all about that."

"The players who are there and available deserve me. I have to guide them, I have to prepare them, it is about that. I only focus on the players who are available."

Sancho has been marginalised to the fringes and is currently training away from United's first team after the former Borussia Dortmund player had a go at Ten Hag following the Dutch's comments on him.&nbsp;

Notably, United signed Sancho from Borussia Dortmund for a record fee of $100 million. At the time, Sancho was touted as one of the brightest stars on the horizon.&nbsp;

However, his failure to adjust to the pace of the league brought him excessive criticism from fans and critics alike. His fallout with Ten Hag might have been the final straw for his United career. experts argue.&nbsp;

Meanwhile, Ten Hag has had his fair share of controversies since coming to the club last season. The former Ajax manager had a bitter fallout with five-time Ballon d'Or winner Cristiano Ronaldo before his ambivalent stance on Mason&nbsp;Greenwood's inclusion irked a significant portion of the club's fanbase.&nbsp;

More recently, Ten Hag has had to field questions surrounding Antony, who has been facing legal troubles for sexual assault allegations.&nbsp;

French footballer Paul Pogba has been provisionally suspended for an anti-doping offence, Italy's National Antidoping Tribunal (NADO) announced on Monday (September 11).

French footballer Paul Pogba has been provisionally suspended for an anti-doping offence, Italy's National Antidoping Tribunal (NADO) announced on Monday (September 11). Pogba, who is currently plying his trade for Italian Seria A club Juventus, was tested after his side's victory against Udinese on August 20 where he was an unused substitute. According to reports, the test results showed elevated levels of testosterone - a hormone that increases an athlete's endurance. "The National Antidoping Tribunal informs that, in acceptance of the instance proposed by the National Antidoping Prosecutor, it has provided for the provisional suspension of the athlete Paul Labile Pogba," NADO was quoted as saying by news agency AFP. The anti-doping agency said the test concerns the 'A' sample, and if the 'B' sample also returns positive for testosterone, the midfielder could face a four-year ban. Juventus released a statement in the aftermath, acknowledging the failed test and said they were considering the next steps. "The club reserves the right to consider the next procedural steps," read the statement. Watch | Gravitas: Spanish football Chief Luis Rubiales steps down × Wanted to quit football: Pogba The announcement by NADO came hours after Pogba, in an Al Jazeera interview, said he was almost driven to walk away from football after allegedly being blackmailed by an organised crime gang. "When there is money you have to be careful. Money changes people. It can break up a family. It can create a war," said Pogba. "Sometimes I was just by myself thinking: 'I don't want to have money anymore. I just don't want to play anymore. I just want to be with normal people, so they will love me for me - not for the fame, not for the money.' Sometimes it's tough. This life, you have to go through it. It will only make me stronger," he added. His tumultuous staggered stay at Manchester United was plagued with injuries, controversies and fallout with colleagues and coaches. Football: Brazil drop Manchester United winger Antony from World Cup qualifying games over assault allegations

Spanish team Getafe signed striker Mason Greenwood from Manchester United on loan on Friday, they said in a statement, despite him having faced allegations of abuse involving a young woman. Greenwood had been suspended since January 2022 by the Premier League side over the allegations but prosecutors dropped charges including attempted rape and sexual assault in February.

"Getafe have reached a deal with Manchester United for the arrival of Mason Greenwood on loan for a season," said the Madrid side in a statement.

Last week United and Greenwood mutually agreed the striker would leave Old Trafford.

"The move enables Greenwood to begin to rebuild his career away from Manchester United," said the Red Devils in a statement. "The club will continue to offer its support to Mason and his family during this period of transition."

Greenwood's signing comes during a sexism storm in Spanish football, surrounding the suspended president of the Spanish football federation (RFEF), Luis Rubiales.

The 46-year-old chief was provisionally suspended by FIFA for 90 days after forcibly kissing Women's World Cup star Jenny Hermoso on the lips on August 20 after Spain won the tournament in Sydney.

Getafe president Angel Torres said Rubiales could not stay "a minute more" in his post.

English prosecutors said they were dropping the charges against Greenwood after key witnesses withdrew and new evidence came to light.

Greenwood, whose contract runs until June 2025, said last week: "I did not do the things I was accused of, and in February I was cleared of all charges.

"However, I fully accept I made mistakes in my relationship, and I take my share of responsibility for the situations which led to the social media post."

He added: "The best decision for us all, is for me to continue my football career away from Old Trafford, where my presence will not be a distraction for the club.

"I thank the club for their support since I joined aged seven. There will always be a part of me which is United."

Greenwood was tipped for stardom at United after rising through the Old Trafford youth system and went on to score 35 goals in 129 senior appearances for the club.

Premier League: Manchester United rally to beat Forest 3-2, Arsenal held by 10-man Fulham

Premier League champions Manchester City racked up a club-record 17th successive home win in all competitions with a 1-0 victory over Newcastle United on Saturday. A superb strike from Julian Alvarez sealed the points for Pep Guardiola's side, but the relief they showed at the final whistle said a lot about a strong Newcastle display.

City's win lifted them to six points from two games alongside Brighton and Hove Albion who earlier in the day thumped Wolverhampton Wanderers 4-1 away.

Manchester United were unable to join City and Brighton at the top of the fledgling table though as they went down to a 2-0 defeat at Tottenham Hotspur in what was Ange Postecoglou's first home game in charge of the London club.

City will be contending for multiple trophies again this season, but Newcastle showed why Guardiola has tipped them to be amongst the contenders for their Premier League crown. Manchester United forward Mason Greenwood will leave Old Trafford, the Premier League club said on Monday following an investigation into allegations of attempted rape of which he was cleared. Greenwood, who was suspended by United in January 2022 when accusations against him surfaced on social media, was charged with attempted rape, controlling behaviour and assault last October.

He had been due to stand trial on Nov. 27, 2023, but all criminal charges against him were dropped in February. "All those involved, including Mason, recognise the difficulties with him recommencing his career at Manchester United," the club said in a statement. "It has therefore been mutually agreed that it would be most appropriate for him to do so away from Old Trafford, and we will now work with Mason to achieve that outcome."

Manchester United's forward Mason Greenwood to exit club after rape investigation

Manchester United's big-money signing Rasmus Hojlund will have to wait for his Old Trafford debut after being ruled out of their opening Premier League game, manager Erik ten Hag said on Friday. The 20-year-old Danish striker, who was signed from Atalanta for a reported 72 million pounds ($91.33 million), is struggling with a stress fracture of the back.

"As we said previously, he had a small issue and he's not on the levels where our players are in this moment so we have to train him," Ten Hag told reporters ahead of Monday's home clash against Wolverhampton Wanderers. "Prognosis is always difficult to say. We are confident, and we are positive."

The United manager said he was happy with the signing of Hojlund despite the club being linked with Harry Kane - who appears set to join Bundesliga heavyweights Bayern Munich.

"First of all, we have chosen a striker and we are really happy with our choice," the Dutchman said. "He's (Kane) a great striker... It's a miss for the Premier League, absolutely."

When asked about Maguire's availability, Ten Hag said: "Of course (Maguire)."

<h2>Fred on his way to Fenerbahce</h2>

Manchester United have agreed a deal in principle to sell Brazilian midfielder Fred to Fenerbahce, the Premier League club said on Friday.

The 30-year-old Fred, who has one year left on his United contract, is due to fly to Istanbul on Saturday for a medical.

British media reported that the Turkish side would pay a transfer fee of 15 million euros ($16.42 million).

"The Brazil international is set for a switch to the Turkish Super Lig, subject to a medical, agreeing personal terms and receiving international clearance to process the move," United added in their statement.

Fred joined the Old Trafford club in 2018 from Shakhtar Donetsk and has made 213 appearances, scoring 14 goals.

Still, the world’s most expensive defender, Maguire was signed by then-United manager Ole Gunnar Solksjaer in 2019 and quickly became absorbed into the environment at Old Trafford. His impressive stint in leading England to the 2018 World Cup semifinal also saw him earn plenty of applause from the fans. He became a key figure for the club and was handed the captain’s armband after the departure of Ashley Young to Inter Milan in 2020. Football Transfers: West Ham agree to Harry Maguire deal in principle as defender edges closer to Man Utd exit

Manchester United are set to unveil new signing Rasmus Højlund before their final pre-season game against French side Lens on Saturday, August 5. Højlund is in Manchester and will follow the likes of Mason Mount and Andre Onana in high-profile recruits for the club as they aim to end their Premier League title drought. Højlund could be possibly unveiled before the start of the contest against Lens as United try to put final pieces in place before the season begins next week.

<h2>Højlund arrives for United</h2>

Subject to a whopping $82 million transfer fee, the 20-year-old has been in Manchester for the last few days having arrived from London. The deal was completed on Thursday between the Red Devils and Atlanta as Højlund switched alliances from the Serie A to the Premier League. He was the subject of interest from Paris Saint-Germain as well, but the player was determined to land in Manchester as it was his preferred destination.

The Danish playmaker will follow the likes of Raphael Varane and Casemiro in big-money deals unveiled at Old Trafford during the transfer season. The deal also contains a $10 million add-on clause which Erik ten Hag’s side will have to pay to Atlanta if certain criteria are met.

Football Transfers: Manchester United to unveil Danish forward Rasmus Højlund before Lens friendly

Manchester United signed a 900 million pound ($1.1 billion) deal with Adidas on Monday, renewing the English soccer club's partnership with its official kit supplier for 10 more years.

Manchester United, whose U.S. owners have been considering selling the Premier League club, will return to the lucrative UEFA Champions League this year after securing a top-four finish in the domestic league last season under manager Erik ten Hag.

German sportswear giant Adidas became the club's official kit sponsor in the 2015/16 season, reuniting after 23 years and taking over from Nike after sealing a 750-million-pounddeal, which was a record at the time.

"The new deal increases the focus on the Manchester United women's team since their reintroduction in 2018," United said in a joint press release with Adidas.

United is still in talks to sell itself after American owners, the Glazer family, launched a formal sale process late last year.

Qatar's Sheikh Jassim bin Hamad al-Thani and British billionaire Jim Ratcliffe are among the potential suitors for the club.

The new deal with Adidas, ahead of the 2023/24 Premier League season starting next month, will continue the partnership until June 2035, the northwest England-based club said.

The original agreement with Adidas links a part of the yearly payments to the club's participation in the Champions League, according to the company's latest annual report.

A failure by the club to play in the Champions league for two or more consecutive seasons reduces its annual payments by 30% of the applicable amount, according to the deal.

Manchester United signed a 900 million pound ($1.1 billion) deal with Adidas on Monday, renewing the English soccer club's partnership with its official kit supplier for 10 more years.

United did not immediately comment on the terms of the new deal. Adidas declined to comment. "We will combine tradition and innovation to please both the players and the fans," Adidas CEO Bjorn Gulden said. Manchester United reunite with Adidas in a whopping $1.1 billion deal for 10 years

Borussia Dortmund punished Manchester United's defensive lapses on Sunday as the English Premier League giants wrapped up their North American tour with a 3-2 defeat to the Bundesliga side in Las Vegas.

A second-half strike by Dortmund substitute Youssoufa Moukoko proved the difference in an entertaining clash at the Allegiant Stadium, home of the NFL's Las Vegas Raiders.

United manager Erik ten Hag named a virtual reserve team to start, leaving the likes of Marcus Rashford, Bruno Fernandes and new signing Mason Mount on the bench.

Yet United's makeshift starting XI were more than a match for Dortmund in the first half, dominating for long periods before Diogo Dalot handed the Red Devils the lead on 24 minutes with a long-range strike.

But Dortmund turned the game on its head in the closing minutes of the first half, with two goals in a minute from Netherlands international forward Donyell Malen.

The first came when United's defense failed to close down Karim Adeyemi's burst down the right.&nbsp;

Despite the attention of a cluster of United defenders, Adeyemi was able to square for Malen, who hooked in from close range.

Malen grabbed his second a minute later, this time seizing on a United howler when Victor Lindelof lost possession inside the area trying to pass out from the back.

United were lucky not to go 3-1 down in the opening minutes of the second half, when another defensive slip, this time by Harry Maguire, allowed Sebastien Haller a shot on goal.&nbsp;

United goalkeeper Andre Onana saved and then watched in relief as Adeyemi blasted the follow-up wide with the goal gaping.&nbsp;

United did get back on level terms in the 52nd minute, when Brazilian forward Antony swept home a low shot from inside the area after a botched clearance by Dortmund veteran Mats Hummels.

Ten Hag rang in the changes with 30 minutes remaining, with Rashford instantly providing more of an attacking threat.

But it was Dortmund who scored the decisive goal, with veteran Marco Reus working a clever opening to set up Moukoko for the winner.
