David Fuller, the man believed to be the worst necrophiliac killer Britain has ever seen, could carry out his nefarious abuse of over 100 women and girls due to "serious failings" at his workplace, found an inquiry on Tuesday.&nbsp;

An inquiry found that Fuller's string of abuses was aided by the hospital's "missed opportunities to question" his working practices.

<h2>Fuller and his crimes</h2>

Between 2005 and 2020, David Fuller abused the bodies of at least 101 women and girls at Kent hospitals: Maidstone and Tunbridge Wells NHS Trust.&nbsp;

In 2021, Fuller admitted to killing two women 25-year-old Wendy Knell and 20-year-old Caroline Pierce. He said that he committed the murders in 1987 in separate attacks in Tunbridge Wells, Kent.&nbsp;

Subsequently, he admitted to engaging in necrophilia on many occasions. He confessed to abusing the bodies of many women he found in mortuaries. His victims ranged between the ages of nine and a hundred years.&nbsp;

A search of his home uncovered more than 800,000 images and 500 videos of his "persistent interest" in abusing, raping and murdering women.

For his shocking crimes, he will spend the rest of his life behind bars. He was given two life sentences for the murders. In addition, he was sentenced to 16 years behind bars for abusing corpses, so the 69-year-old will die in prison.&nbsp;

<h2>Inquiry findings</h2>

An inquiry into his crimes found that "there were missed opportunities to question Fuller's working practices".

The Guardian quotes Inquiry chair Sir Jonathan Michael as saying that the abuse "had caused shock and horror across our country and beyond".

"He routinely worked beyond his contracted hours, undertaking tasks in the mortuary that were not necessary or which should not have been carried out by someone with his chronic back problems. This was never properly questioned," he added.

Michael in the report released on Tuesday (Nov 28) said, "The offences that Fuller committed were truly shocking and he will never be released from prison."

He chalked up Fuller's barbarities to "failures of management, of governance, of regulation, failure to follow standard policies and procedures, together with a persistent lack of curiosity."

As per the report, there was "little regard" given to who was accessing the mortuary. It said that Fuller, who worked as the maintenance supervisor at hospitals, visited the mortuaries around 444 times in a year, yet it went "unnoticed and unchecked".

Talking to reporters, he also said&nbsp;senior bosses were allegedly "aware of problems in the running of the mortuary from as early as 2008".

<h2>How can such crimes be prevented?</h2>

The inquiry, as per BBC, has made 17 recommendations to prevent "similar atrocities". These include the installation of CCTV cameras in mortuaries and post-mortem rooms. Making it compulsory for maintenance staff to carry out tasks in these areas in pairs was also recommended.

Furthermore, it recommended that the "practice of leaving deceased people out of mortuary fridges overnight" or while maintenance is carried out should be put to an end.

Another inquiry to review how the deceased are cared for around the UK was launched in July and its findings are expected to be released in 2024.

<h2>Quantification of slave trade</h2>

Speaking at the opening of the summit, Ghana's President's Nana Akufo-Addo emphasised the staggering consequences of slavery. He said, "The entire period of slavery meant that our progress, economically, culturally, and psychologically, was stifled."

"There are legions of stories of families who were torn apart … You cannot quantify the effects of such tragedies, but they need to be recognised," he added.

He also said that the "entire continent of Africa deserves a formal apology from the European nations involved in the slave trade".

The assailant, Wadea's landlord, 71-year-old Joseph M Czuba reportedly entered the little boy's family home yelling: "You Muslims must die!".

In the attack, the child's 32-year-old mother also suffered several stabbing wounds and had to be hospitalised.

During the almost two years when the pandemic was at its peak, in the US, as per the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), crimes against the Asian American community saw a significant rise.

Between 2019 and 2020, there was a 77 per cent increase in hate crimes against Asian people living in the US.

Furthermore, during the period from March 2020 to June 2021, more than 9,000 anti-Asian hate incidents were reported, as per advocacy group Stop AAPI Hate Center. This included verbal harassment, including being called things like the "Chinese Coronavirus".&nbsp;

As per a Health Affairs report, these numbers are not a just reflection of the incidents as hate crimes frequently go unreported. A 2021 poll by Axios/Ipsos, called the 'Hard Truth Civil Rights &amp; Social Justice poll' found that 82 per cent of Asian Americans agreed that as a group they've faced discrimination because of the coronavirus pandemic. More than 57 per cent said they often or sometimes feel unsafe in public.

Varun Raj Pucha, a 24-year-old Indian-origin student who on October 29th was stabbed at a public gym in Valparaiso, Indiana, has succumbed to his injuries.

Pucha, who was a student of computer science at Valparaiso University, died at a local hospital on Wednesday (Nov 8).

In a statement, Valparaiso University announced the passing and said: "It is with heavy hearts that we share the passing of Varun Raj Pucha. Our campus community has lost one of its own, and our thoughts and prayers go out to Varun's family and friends as we mourn this devastating loss."

He belonged to India's Telangana and was pursuing an MS in computer science in the US since August 2022. A memorial service will be held for him on the Valparaiso University campus on November 16th.

<h2>A little 'weird'</h2>

An NWIU Times report previously identified the attacker as 24-year-old Jordan Andrad, who was detained by the police soon after the attack.

The attacker, Andrad, is facing charges of aggravated battery with a deadly weapon and attempted murder.&nbsp;

As per the charging document, upon arrest, Andrad&nbsp;told the police that he had requested a massage at the gym on the morning of the incident.&nbsp;

Upon entering the massage room, he encountered the other man (Varun), whom he described as "a little weird" and potentially threatening.&nbsp;

Andrad&nbsp;claimed that he reacted the "right way" in response to the perceived threat.&nbsp;He reportedly also told the police that Varun "was going to assassinate him" and that the attack was in defence.

The police reported that "Andrad&nbsp;then described (Varun) as a threat to him, so he 'just reacted'."

However, when police talked to the gym 'Planet Fitness' staff they "indicated that (the victim) was a regular gym member and generally kept to himself, was quiet and reserved, nothing indicating that he was 'creepy'."

In his statement to the police, the assailant said that Varun, the victim, remained seated throughout the incident and only made physical contact to push him (the attacker) away after he had initiated the attack.

Men are ahead, with 45 per cent binge-drinking at least once a month. However, Romanian men topped the charts, with around 57 per cent doing so.

UK women are way ahead when it comes to binge drinking, study finds

Nathan Woodyard, a Colorado police officer accused of killing Elijah McClain, a 23-year-old Black man has been acquitted of all charges by a Colorado court. McClain died after being put in a chokehold and the administration of a powerful sedative.

Following the verdict, the victim's mother said she no longer has faith in the justice system.

As per CNN, the Aurora police officer was found guilty on all charges — reckless manslaughter and criminally negligent homicide, by a Colorado jury.

Talking to KUSA on Monday, Sheneen McClain, Elijah's mother, expressed her disappointment in the justice system and said the verdict "lets us down, not just people of colour, it lets down everybody."&nbsp;

"They don't do the right thing, they always do the bare minimum," she said, adding "It's just unfortunate that the people that stopped my son, brutalised my son, tortured my son, get away with murder, and their passing on what they did to the medical professionals that still were supposed to do their job."

"Nobody did. So it's just unfortunate that they are placing the blame and passing the buck."

<h2>What happened in 2019?</h2>

Woodyard, as per an NBC News report, was the first officer to confront the victim McClain.

At the time of the incident, McClain was walking home from a convenience store in the Denver suburb of Aurora.&nbsp;

The police officer was responding to a 911 call by a 17-year-old caller who had reported that the black man — who was wearing a ski mask and was listening to music, and dancing as he walked — as suspicious.

Prosecutors allege that Woodyard tackled McClain within eight seconds of exiting the patrol car — without introducing himself or explaining the reason for stopping him. They contend that officers used excessive force against the victim, putting him in carotid holds.

"Elijah McClain was walking home, he was dancing. As he told the defendant, he was stopping the music to listen," said Colorado Assistant Attorney General Jason Slothouber.&nbsp;

"There was no need for this escalation of violence," he emphasised.

Woodyard's neck hold as per NBC rendered McCain temporarily unconscious. Prosecutors also allege that McCain was injected with a fatal overdose of ketamine by paramedics. Roman actress Sibilla Barbieri has ended her life in Switzerland. The 58-year-old actor and director last week chose assisted suicide across the border&nbsp;after authorities denied her request in her home country, Italy.

<h2>Why was Sibilla Barbieri seeking assisted suicide?</h2>

As per Vanity Fair Italy, the actress was suffering from terminal cancer for 10 years. Barbieri was completely dependent on oxygen therapy and pain medications, which, if interrupted, would have led to a painful death.

Given the severity of her condition, she had requested assisted suicide back in July, but her application was rejected.

In mid-September, Barbieri's health company replied to her request, stating that the medical team had considered that the woman lacked the requirement of dependence on life-sustaining treatment.

<h2>How the suffering woman chose to end her life</h2>

Denied the request, Barbieri chose to end her suffering in a foreign land. She was accompanied to Switzerland by her son and Marco Perduca, of the Luca Coscioni Association, which works for human rights and civil liberties.

In a video&nbsp;statement addressed to 'all politicians' posted 19 hours ago by&nbsp;Luca Coscioni, Barbieri alleged of, "very serious discrimination between cancer patients and those who also find themselves in other non-terminal conditions."

So far, with the support of the Luca Coscioni Association, five Italian citizens have received a green light for assisted dying.

Michelle Ryan, director of the Global Institute for Women's Leadership at the Australian National University in Canberra, who is one of the two researchers behind the 2005 research, said that Reynold's analysis was "robust and added to the work in this area".

The two leaders, along with Israeli soldiers and officials, also walked into some houses that were burned during the October 7 attacks.

Johnson, as reported by Reuters, said that he believed that the attacks, which killed over 1,400 Israelis, might suggest that the memory of the Holocaust is “starting to fade” but stressed that antisemitism "simply cannot be tolerated".

<h2>Memory of the Holocaust 'starting to fade'</h2>

Later, talking to the press, Johnson said he believed that the attacks, which killed over 1,400 Israelis, might suggest that the memory of the Holocaust is "starting to fade". He also stressed that antisemitism "simply cannot be tolerated".

"There's been no single attack like this on the Jewish people since the Second World War, and that's a matter of record," said Johnson.

"I think that maybe because across the world, the memory and the lesson of that appalling crime, where six million died, the memory may be starting to fade. And it may be that what we're really seeing right now, in some of these marches and these demos, and the unthinking way people are talking about this issue, what we're starting to see perhaps, I hope this really isn't the case, we're seeing more and more evidence of antisemitism."

"In the end, that is something that simply cannot be tolerated, neither in my country nor anywhere else," he emphasised.

In the attack, as per Israeli estimates, around 1,400 people were killed, while more than 230 were taken hostage by the militants. These kidnapped individuals, which involve foreign nationals and around 30 children, remain with the Hamas, amid calls for their release. As of Sunday, more than 9,770 Palestinians have been killed in the war, said Gaza health officials.

Former UK prime minister Boris Johnson on Sunday (Nov 5) visited Jerusalem, and met with British soldiers enlisted in the Israeli Army. The British leader, who was accompanied by former Australian PM Scott Morrison, also visited Kibbutz Kfar Aza, which was devastated in the terror attack by Hamas militants on October 7. Johnson talks to troops As per Reuters news agency, the British leader, during his conversation with the soldiers, expressed his support for the troops and said he disagreed with those trying to make a moral equivalence between what the Israeli soldiers are doing and what the Hamas militants are doing. The two leaders, along with Israeli soldiers and officials, also walked into some houses that were burned during the October 7 attacks. Johnson, as reported by Reuters, said that he believed that the attacks, which killed over 1,400 Israelis, might suggest that the memory of the Holocaust is “starting to fade” but stressed that antisemitism "simply cannot be tolerated". "There's been no single attack like this on the Jewish people since the Second World War, and that's a matter of record," said Johnson. "I think that maybe because across the world, the memory and the lesson of that appalling crime, where six million died, the memory may be starting to fade. And it may be that what we're really seeing right now, in some of these marches and these demos, and the unthinking way people are talking about this issue, what we're starting to see perhaps, I hope this really isn't the case, we're seeing more and more evidence of antisemitism." "In the end, that is something that simply cannot be tolerated, neither in my country nor anywhere else," he emphasised. In the attack, as per Israeli estimates, around 1,400 people were killed, while more than 230 were taken hostage by the militants. These kidnapped individuals, which involve foreign nationals and around 30 children, remain with the Hamas, amid calls for their release. This is the latest broad counter-espionage campaign undertaken by Chinese leader Xi Jinping's government&nbsp;amid intensifying geopolitical tensions with the United States.

<h2>A national risk</h2>

China's top spy agency, the Ministry of State Security, on Tuesday (Oct 31) said it had discovered 'illegal meteorological stations' with foreign links, reported CNN.

It said that these weather stations were sending real-time updates outside China to foreign governments.

This, as per South China Morning Post (SCMP), was labelled an infringement upon its data rules and poses national security risks by China.

However, the nation failed to specify which foreign governments were allegedly at the receiving end of this data.

These facilities were found in 20 provinces across China. To detect them, China investigated over 3,000 overseas-related meteorological stations.&nbsp;

On WeChat, China's alternative to WhatsApp, the spy agency, said, "Meteorological data constitutes an essential component of data security and resource security; it is closely linked to national, food and ecological security, climate change, along with public interests."

"The illegal collection and cross-border transmission of meteorological data pose a threat to our country's sovereignty, security and development interests," it added.

As per the state security ministry, some of these spy weather stations were located near China's military and defence units, while others were near its main grain producer and were monitoring, analysing the nation's crop growth and production.

Just eight months back, the US Air Force announced that it had shot down a suspected spy balloon that was flying across North American airspace.

This episode sent relations between the two nations plummeting to a new low and eventually halted top-level engagements for months.
