Tajik man kills two at Chisinau airport in Moldova

<p>A 22-year-old woman in New York was killed in a hit-and-run by her co-worker&nbsp;who had a crush on her.</p>

<p>The incident happened on Thursday night when the duo went for drinks, and when she refused to ride with him after the party, the man killed her.</p>

<p>Onondaga County District Attorney’s Office said that the young woman, Madison Faltisco, had been drinking in the bar with the suspect. Later that night, around 10.30 pm, she refused to get into his car since he was inebriated.</p>

<p>After she decided to walk to her house, which was nearby, along Route 57 in Clay around 11 pm, Joshua Schiano, 23, came from behind her and ran her over with his blue Hyundai Elantra.</p>

<p>Within two minutes of hitting her, Schiano crashed his car into a store sign and items outside a Salvation Army thrift store, according to local news channel CNYCentral.</p>

<p>The crashing led to Schiano’s car bursting into flames, following which he was taken to the hospital in police custody under suspicion of driving while intoxicated. Schiano did not sustain injuries,&nbsp;Syracuse.com reported.</p>

<p>Onondaga County sheriff’s spokesperson Tom Newton said Schiano never confessed to having hit someone while driving Thursday night, so they didn’t look for Faltisco.</p>

<h2><strong>Body discovered a day after</strong></h2>

<p>Her body was discovered the following day around 5 am on Friday when someone called 911 to report they found an unconscious woman on the side of the road. She was declared dead at the scene.</p>

<p>Both victim and accused worked at Smokey Bones, a nearby bar and restaurant.</p>

<p>One of Faltisco’s friends and co-workers, Halana Sieber, said that she received three phone calls from Faltisco just before the hit-and-run but didn’t answer any of them.</p>

<p>Sieber further revealed that she was also invited to join them at the bar that night, but did not go. Instead, she offered to give them a ride later, but Faltisco declined.</p>

<p>Reminiscing about her, Sieber described Faltisco as a “girl's girl”. Her other friends said that she had the “biggest heart” and that “she'd do anything for anyone”.</p>

<p>The tragic incident shook the neighbourhood which laid candles and flowers near the sight of her death along Route 57 in Clay. Heart-shaped balloons reading, “We love you always Maddy” have been tied to the posts.</p>

<p>The girl’s family has started a GoFundMe&nbsp;page to raise money for her funeral, New York Post reported,</p>

22-year-old woman killed in hit-and-run for refusing to ride in jilted co-worker’s car

<p>A 31-year-old man was caught in Nottingham City, England, on Tuesday morning on the suspicion of murdering three people and using his van to run over more at another site.</p>

<p>The incident took place around 11 pm local time on Saturday (0500 GMT) at the "El Estadio" bar in the town of Apaseo el Grande, when a group of armed men burst in and opened fire at customers and employees of the bar along a highway that connects the cities of Celaya and Queretaro.</p>

<p>Three of those killed are women, officials said. The authorities have reinforced security in the area with members of various law enforcement agencies.</p>

<p>The State Attorney General's Office said via Twitter that it had opened an investigation to find those responsible for the violent incident on Saturday.</p>

<p>Guanajuato is one of Mexico's most popular tourist destinations. A prosperous industrial region, it has now become the country's bloodiest state.</p>

<p>Mexico is witnessing one of the bloodiest turf wars between cartels who are vying to establish their dominance to conduct drug trafficking and fuel theft.</p>

<p>Four Americans were kidnapped earlier this month in the Mexican city of Matamoros. They were reportedly visiting for medical tourism when they were caught in the crossfire between rival cartel groups and abducted.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Two of them were returned to the US, while two others were found dead. A Mexican bystander was also killed.</p>

<p>One of the cartel groups in Matamoros apologised for the killings and turned over the men they say are responsible to police, saying kidnappers “acted under their own decision-making and lack of discipline” when they ambushed the victims.</p>

<p>In light of this incident, the Texas authorities issued a warning to Americans, especially those planning spring break trips, to skip travelling to Mexico.</p>

<p>“Drug cartel violence and other criminal activity represent a significant safety threat to anyone who crosses into Mexico right now,” Steven McCraw, the director of the Texas Department of Public Safety, said in a statement.</p>

<p>In court, he invoked his right to stay silent during much of the questioning and at the end of the hearing, he just said that this was because he felt "great shame" about what he did.&nbsp;</p>

France: Self-styled ‘seduction coach’ jailed for life for stabbing ex-girlfriend over 80 times to death

<p>A man with a machete (a bladed weapon)&nbsp;attacked two churches in the city of Algeciras on Wednesday (January 25), killing a sexton and seriously injuring a priest before being arrested, as per&nbsp;Spain's interior ministry.&nbsp;The suspect is in the National Police of Spain's custody after being arrested in the southern city.&nbsp;The ministry did not identify him as reported by AP news agency.</p>

<p>At around seven in the evening of January 25, the armed man entered the San Isidro church and attacked a priest, inflicting significant injuries, according to the ministry.</p>

<p>Five minutes later, the attacker travelled to a different church, Nuestra Seora de La Palma, where he entered and continued his spree by attacking the sexton,&nbsp;whose responsibility it is to look after the church and maintain it.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Among the deceased were three men and two women, of which three of the victims were members of the condo board. Another woman was injured and remains hospitalised.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Villi was later killed during a confrontation with the police at the hallway of the&nbsp;building in Vaughan, Ontario.</p>

<p>The police had described the murder sit as a “horrendous scene where numerous victims were deceased.”</p>

<p>Police have not yet disclosed the possible motive for the attack or released the names or ages of the victims.</p>

<p>Ontario's Special Investigations Unit spokesperson Kristy Denette said that the attacker carried a semiautomatic handgun and that investigators don't believe he exchanged fire with the officer who killed him.</p>

<p>Police said that there was no further threat to the community and was hoping to get residents back into the building.</p>

<p>After the murder, the woman went to the police and confessed to the crime. But she concocted a story of her partner having drawn out a knife.</p>

<p>The girl’s body was found on the street with a gunshot wound to the head and the weapon in her hand, while the father, 38, was inside the house with a gunshot wound to the abdomen.</p>

<p>According to authorities, the girl shot her father, went outside and then shot herself, the sheriff's office said.</p>

<p>The father-daughter duo was later taken to local hospitals by air ambulance. Their conditions were not known till Monday morning, reported CNN.</p>

<p>The investigators claimed that the shootings were part of a murder plot the girl made with another kid weeks ago in Lufkin (about 230 miles (370 km) southeast of Weatherford).</p>

<p>They had planned to kill their families and then run away together to Georgia, the police alleged.</p>

<p>However, the girl in Lufkin, whose age was not revealed, did not go through with the plan. It is being investigated as to how the two girls knew each other.</p>

<p>According to the sheriff’s office, the Lufkin girl was charged with criminal conspiracy. Though it is known whether the injured 12-year-old faces any criminal action.</p>

<p>Lufkin Police are also probing the incident, the release stated.</p>

<p>The names of the juvenile suspects and their families have not been revealed by the Parker County Sheriff's Office in order to protect their identities.</p>

Mali: Over 130 civilians killed by suspected jihadists

<p>In a rare public admission, retired soldiers of Colombia's military have confessed to murdering civilians and presenting them as rebels killed in fighting. &nbsp;</p>

<p>The 10 retired members made the admission on Tuesday in front of family members of the victims for their role in the elimination of 120 civilians. &nbsp;&nbsp;</p>

<p>In the case, a general, four colonels and five officers along with a civilian will make confessions soon, an AFP report said. &nbsp;</p>

<p>The case is being heard by a special tribunal, which came up after the peace deal in 2016. It had also marked the ending of a half century of conflict between the government forces and Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia (FARC) rebels. &nbsp;</p>

<p>The 'false positives' scandal, which saw many civilians getting murdered in cold blood and passed off as enemy warriors, has caused ripples in Colombia. &nbsp;</p>

<p>"I ask you to clear our family names ... they were rural workers, not subversives, guerrillas and thugs as they were branded," said Eduvina Becerra, partner of Jose Ortega, a murdered farmer. &nbsp;</p>

<p>The hearing of Special Jurisdiction for Peace (JEP) is taking place in Ocana.</p>

<p>Around 50 family members of the victims reached the university theater to witness the proceedings. The soldiers gave details about the killings as victims’ sobbing family members listened. &nbsp; &nbsp;</p>

<p>"I acknowledge and accept my responsibility as co-perpetrator" of the murders, which were carried out from 2007 to 2008, said Nestor Gutierrez, a former non-commissioned officer in the army. &nbsp;</p>

<p>"We murdered innocent people, peasants," added Gutierrez. He also promised to "clarify it here before the judgment, before the world, before the country." &nbsp;</p>
