Karni Sena announces reward of $132,152 to kill Indian gangster Lawrence Bishnoi: Reports

The NIA on Wednesday filed a charge sheet against Canada-based gangster Goldy Brar and 11 others for their alleged involvement in the killing of Karni Sena chief Sukhdev Singh Gogamedi last year, according to an official statement.

Brar has been designated a terrorist by the government under the anti-terror law Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA). He has been involved in the smuggling of high-grade arms, ammunition and explosive materials through drones from across the border, supplying them for carrying out killings and also providing sharpshooters.

According to the statement, NIA investigations have revealed the involvement of the notorious terrorist-gangster syndicate behind the killing of Gogamedi, who was shot dead in the living room of his house in Shyam Nagar colony in Jaipur in December 2023.

Two others - Naveen Shekhawat and Ajeet Singh - were killed while Gogamedi's gunman Narender Singh was injured in the attack.

Moving swiftly with its investigations in the case, the National Investigation Agency (NIA) arrested eight persons for their involvement in the conspiracy to kill Gogamedi, the statement from the federal probe agency said.

Four others, including gangsters Mahendra Kumar, Ravataram Swami alias Rohit Godara, Virendra Charan, and Satwinder Singh alias Goldy Brar, are still absconding, said the NIA statement.

In its charge sheet filed before the NIA Special Court in Jaipur, the NIA has charged all the 12 identified accused, under various sections of the Indian Penal Code, Arms Act and UAPA.

NIA investigations have revealed that Rohit Godara was the mastermind who had hatched the murder conspiracy along with accused Virendra Charan, Goldy Brar and others. After the killing, Rohit Godara and Goldy Brar claimed responsibility and used it to threaten and extort money from other people, the statement said.

The two assailants -- Rohit Rathore and Nitin -- had received pistols and several rounds of bullets for carrying out the attack on Gogamedi, the probe agency said.

It was Udham Singh who, along with Bhawani Singh and Rahul, had sent Nitin to Jaipur to execute the plan. Accused Rambeer had given shelter to Nitin despite knowing of his involvement in another arms case, the agency said.

Further investigations into the case are in progress and a search is on for the absconders, the NIA said.

The two shooters have been identified as Rohit Rathore Makrana and Nitin Fauji, as the police remain on the lookout. The Karni Sena is a form of pressure group based in Rajasthan which attempts to espouse the interest of Rajputs. The performance was a part of the rapper's MC Stan Basti Ka Hasti India tour, where he will be performing across 10 cities, including Pune, Mumbai, Hyderabad, and Bengaluru.&nbsp;He began his nationwide tour named earlier this month.

On Monday while addressing a media conference Kiran Maheshwari was asked to comment on Sarv Rajput Samaj Sangharsh Samiti is compaigning agianst the BJP to which she reportedly responded saying that, "Aise bhi log hai jo barsati choose hain, jo chunav aate he bilon se nikal aatein hain (There are people like rainy rats who come out of their holes during election time)."&nbsp

According to media reports, the Karni Sena after holding a meeting&nbspin Jaipur&nbspwarned Maheshwari to apologise for the statement immediately or will face dire consequences.

They also reportedly added that Maheshwari should have remembered the Deepika Padukone incident during the 'Padmaavat'&nbspcontroversy while making such remark.

However, Kiran Maheshwari later denied that she equated rats with Rajputs and&nbspclarified&nbspthat she was targetting Congress. She also added that her statement was twisted to incite the community.

The Karni Sena has also said that they hold women in high regard but will not tolerate any women insulting the community.

By now half of the country has watched Padmaavat. Even those who haven&#39;t - I am sure - intend to watch it in the coming days. Because even if you aren&#39;t a fan of Sanjay Leela Bhansali&#39;s film or Deepika Padukone, or just don&#39;t like period dramas, Karni Sena has ensured in the past few months that you get curious about Bhansali&#39;s magnum opus and rush to watch it in theaters to understand what the fuss is all about.&nbsp; 
 
Here&#39;s some good news for those who haven&#39;t watched it yet. There really isn&#39;t anything offensive about the Rajput community in the film. Instead, it glorifies the community to the hilt. The film also for the first time, shows a leading man as bisexual. Okay, it just hints that Khilji swung both ways. But that itself is an achievement from Bollywood which has for generations treated members of the LGBT community as comic relief in films. Neither has any of the leading men in commercial cinema played a character who could lust over women and also get &#39;physically&#39; comfortable with his prime confidant at the same time like Khilji does with his manservant Malik Kafur in Padmaavat.&nbsp;

It&#39;s a first in Bollywood and hopefully, the crackling performances by both Ranveer Singh and Jim Sarbh will encourage more writers to write bisexual and homosexual characters as leads in films and inspire more mainstream Bollywood actors to take up such roles.&nbsp;

But did Sanjay Leela Bhansali really think of breaking the taboo when he wrote Khilji and Malik Kafur&#39;s characters? Or was it an accidental breakthrough? Because if one looks at Padmaavat closely, (and shut all the unnecessary noise that Karni Sena is creating) Bhansali&#39;s film sticks to all sorts of stereotypes and plays to the gallery.&nbsp;

At its core, Padmaavat focusses on Khilji and his maverick, brutal ways. He is the antagonist in the film, even though the story is from his perspective. He is pitted against the moralistic, brave Rajputs.&nbsp;

A Muslim invader, who is ruthless, barbaric and conniving, Bhansali&#39;s depiction of Khilji is far from how the actual Sultan of Delhi was. It just clearly ticks all sorts of stereotypes that one can possibly think of while depicting a Muslim ruler. His tents are dark, he is unkempt, he philanders, plunders, loots and chomps on meat like a barbaric nomad. Something that Khilji&nbsp;actually wasn&#39;t.&nbsp; 
 
History states that in real life Alauddin Khilji was not cruel but a great administrator and that his siege of Chittor was clearly politically motivated. He wanted to take charge of Chittor and eventually the rest of the Rajput kingdoms and expand his territory of <span class="m_405305391776333809gmail-gr_ m_405305391776333809gmail-gr_231 m_405305391776333809gmail-gr-alert m_405305391776333809gmail-gr_gramm m_405305391776333809gmail-gr_inline_cards m_405305391776333809gmail-gr_run_anim m_405305391776333809gmail-Grammar m_405305391776333809gmail-only-ins m_405305391776333809gmail-doubleReplace m_405305391776333809gmail-replaceWithoutSep" id="m_405305391776333809gmail-231">rule.&nbsp;He wasn&#39;t, in fact, motivated by any woman or her beauty.&nbsp;

On the other hand, the Rajput ruler Ratan Singh is shown as a man of principles in Padmaavat. He is loyal to his wives (yes, wives), fights to protect the <span class="m_405305391776333809gmail-gr_ m_405305391776333809gmail-gr_82 m_405305391776333809gmail-gr-alert m_405305391776333809gmail-gr_spell m_405305391776333809gmail-gr_inline_cards m_405305391776333809gmail-gr_run_anim m_405305391776333809gmail-ContextualSpelling m_405305391776333809gmail-multiReplace" id="m_405305391776333809gmail-82">honour of his people and his love, and doesn&#39;t even attack or kill the enemy when he comes visiting his palace as a guest. Because his morals don&#39;t allow him to kill someone outside the battlefield, unarmed. He is shown as the epitome of all things right and yes, he is a Hindu ruler, a worshiper of Bhawani.&nbsp;

The narrative, pretty evidently, makes clear demarcations. The righteous one is Hindu, the ruthless, barbaric one is a Muslim. Khilji is flawed in every possible way. He only knows and understands the language of killing. And unlike his Hindu enemy, Khilji isn&#39;t governed by usool or marayada or shaan. Bhansali&#39;s depiction of Khilji is all black, there are no grey spots even. In the final battle scene, the antagonist wins the battle by unfair means, but the viewer&#39;s take away is of the moral victory of the righteous Rajput king.&nbsp;

Which is why the fact that Khilji is shown as bisexual could also be just one of the &#39;negative&#39; traits that the character possesses. Maybe, the fact that he lusts over women, and even eyes his eunuch commander general is also supposed to be a flaw. That even though he is obsessed about Padmavati, he is not really loyal to anyone.&nbsp;

The film not just caters to a certain section of the society with its subtle jingoism, but it is also regressive in the way it over-dramatizes and glorifies something as horrible as Jauhar. And no, the disclaimer, in the beginning, doesn&#39;t help much. But that&#39;s a discussion for another day perhaps.&nbsp;

The irony is not lost on anyone. Bhansali plays to the gallery and his film can appeal to a larger population- going by the current sentiments of the nation, where demarcations are often made on religious lines. Yet, the film is opposed by those very people who harp about their national identity time and again.

If one looks at Padmaavat closely, Bhansali's film sticks to all sorts of stereotypes and plays to the gallery.

By now half of the country has watched Padmaavat. Even those who haven't - I am sure - intend to watch it in the coming days. Because even if you aren't a fan of Sanjay Leela Bhansali's film or Deepika Padukone, or just don't like period dramas, Karni Sena has ensured in the past few months that you get curious about Bhansali's magnum opus and rush to watch it in theaters to understand what the fuss is all about. Here's some good news for those who haven't watched it yet. There really isn't anything offensive about the Rajput community in the film. Instead, it glorifies the community to the hilt. The film also for the first time, shows a leading man as bisexual. Okay, it just hints that Khilji swung both ways. But that itself is an achievement from Bollywood which has for generations treated members of the LGBT community as comic relief in films. Neither has any of the leading men in commercial cinema played a character who could lust over women and also get 'physically' comfortable with his prime confidant at the same time like Khilji does with his manservant Malik Kafur in Padmaavat. It's a first in Bollywood and hopefully, the crackling performances by both Ranveer Singh and Jim Sarbh will encourage more writers to write bisexual and homosexual characters as leads in films and inspire more mainstream Bollywood actors to take up such roles. But did Sanjay Leela Bhansali really think of breaking the taboo when he wrote Khilji and Malik Kafur's characters? Or was it an accidental breakthrough? Because if one looks at Padmaavat closely, (and shut all the unnecessary noise that Karni Sena is creating) Bhansali's film sticks to all sorts of stereotypes and plays to the gallery. At its core, Padmaavat focusses on Khilji and his maverick, brutal ways. He is the antagonist in the film, even though the story is from his perspective. He is pitted against the moralistic, brave Rajputs. A Muslim invader, who is ruthless, barbaric and conniving, Bhansali's depiction of Khilji is far from how the actual Sultan of Delhi was. It just clearly ticks all sorts of stereotypes that one can possibly think of while depicting a Muslim ruler. His tents are dark, he is unkempt, he philanders, plunders, loots and chomps on meat like a barbaric nomad. Something that Khilji actually wasn't. History states that in real life Alauddin Khilji was not cruel but a great administrator and that his siege of Chittor was clearly politically motivated. He wanted to take charge of Chittor and eventually the rest of the Rajput kingdoms and expand his territory of rule. He wasn't, in fact, motivated by any woman or her beauty. On the other hand, the Rajput ruler Ratan Singh is shown as a man of principles in Padmaavat. He is loyal to his wives (yes, wives), fights to protect the honour of his people and his love, and doesn't even attack or kill the enemy when he comes visiting his palace as a guest. Because his morals don't allow him to kill someone outside the battlefield, unarmed. He is shown as the epitome of all things right and yes, he is a Hindu ruler, a worshiper of Bhawani. The narrative, pretty evidently, makes clear demarcations. The righteous one is Hindu, the ruthless, barbaric one is a Muslim. Khilji is flawed in every possible way. He only knows and understands the language of killing. And unlike his Hindu enemy, Khilji isn't governed by usool or marayada or shaan. Bhansali's depiction of Khilji is all black, there are no grey spots even. In the final battle scene, the antagonist wins the battle by unfair means, but the viewer's take away is of the moral victory of the righteous Rajput king. Which is why the fact that Khilji is shown as bisexual could also be just one of the 'negative' traits that the character possesses. Maybe, the fact that he lusts over women, and even eyes his eunuch commander general is also supposed to be a flaw. That even though he is obsessed about Padmavati, he is not really loyal to anyone. The film not just caters to a certain section of the society with its subtle jingoism, but it is also regressive in the way it over-dramatizes and glorifies something as horrible as Jauhar. And no, the disclaimer, in the beginning, doesn't help much. But that's a discussion for another day perhaps. The irony is not lost on anyone. I have something to tell you. I sat riveted to Sanjay Leela Bhansali&#39;s&nbsp;Padmaavat&nbsp;and while my entire consciousness was subsumed in the splendour, a part of my subconscious also wondered at the brutal attack that SLB had to suffer in the hands of your organization which supposedly espouses the Rajput community&#39;s interests.&nbsp;

Dear Karni Sena, I am not a Rajput. I am an Indian. And a Hindu. And a responsible citizen of India. I pay all my taxes and have never broken the law even in passing while you, sirs, have repeatedly thumbed your supposedly lofty noses at the law of the land by attacking a film which had been cleared by the highest authorities of the Government of India. Even when the Supreme Court gave it a go-ahead you continued your attacks on the film, its director and leading lady with unconstitutional impunity.

Well, sirs, having seen the film I want to tell you, you were way off the mark. You were lying to the public by accusing&nbsp;Padmaavat&nbsp;of being anti-Rajput. Far from it, the film is a glorious celebration of the Rajput community&#39;s bravery and fierce commitment to the sovereignty of the nation. Suggesting that&nbsp;Padmaavat&nbsp;was anti-national and an insult to the Rajput community is akin to calling the song&nbsp;Ae mere watan ke logon&nbsp;anti-patriotic. You were in fact alleging the exact opposite of what&nbsp;Padmaavat&nbsp;has done. It salutes the bravery of a community. You said it insulted the community. You were lying.

Now tell us, Dear Karni Sena, who will pay for all the damage, physical and emotional, that you caused the film and its director? How will you make amends for your uncouth attempts to jump into the jauhar fire with a whooping joy that children express when they dive into the swimming pool.

You swam into the deep end and waded into totally unfounded utterly conjectural moral policing on behalf of a community that totally disowns you.

I sat with Rajput friends to watch&nbsp;Padmaavat. They all had tears in their eyes as they watched Shahid Kapoor and Deepika Padukone fight off the boorish foreign invader with every drop of their blood. Their spectacular sacrifice to make our nation what it us has not gone unrewarded. Sanjay Leela Bhansali has made sure of that.

We all stood and applauded at the end of the film. Never have we felt more proud to be Indian, more happy to be watching a film that celebrates the valour of the warrior class with such glorious authority.

Dear Karni Sena, I have a question for you. What were you thinking while attacking this magical mystical ode to the spirit of gallantry? Or were you not thinking at all? Now that the truth is out in the public domain, what will you protest against? Maybe you can now protest against&nbsp;Padmaavat&#39;s failure to give you any genuine reason to protest.

The Sanjay Leela Bhansali&#39;s film earlier called&nbsp;Padmavati was scheduled for release on December 1, 2017.&nbsp;However, its release&nbsp;was postponed after a widespread protest by certain fringe elements.

The film, which was banned by Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan and Haryana. However, following Supreme Court (SC) intervention, the movie is likely to be released even in these states.

On Wednesday, a mob of 60 people attacked a bus full of school kids and teachers in Gurugram in protest against the release of &quot;Padmaavat&quot;.

A&nbsp;special investigation team has been formed under the supervision of DCP South Ashol Bakshi to probe the case.

Next week, the Supreme court will be hearing a case against Karni Sena for the ruckus they have created in different parts of the country after a contempt petition was filed against them.

CCCA president Jai Prakash Chaukse said: &quot;We&#39;d have liked to release the movie, but have decided not to risk life and property. The state government has failed to assure us security and seems to be backing groups opposed to the release of the film.&quot;

In Rajasthan, the epicenter of protests against Sanjay Leela Bhansali&#39;s film, cinema and multiplex owners had already decided against screening the film.

The school bus staffer asked the kids to crawl under seats for safety and directed the driver to not stop it, Ravinder Kumar, PRO, Gurugram Police said.

&ldquo;Some of the bus windows shattered and terrified kids cried for help. Fortunately none of the children was hurt in the attack,&rdquo; Kumar said.

He said the situation was now under control.

Cinema halls and many other places in Mumbai, Mathura, Gurugram, Meerut, Rajasthan have been attacked by protesters demanding a ban on the film&#39;s release. They have also blocked the Delhi-Jaipur highway.

Security has been beefed up and efforts are underway to nab the unidentified miscreants to bring the situation under control. &nbsp;A number of protesters have been arrested in Ahmedabad, Mumbai, Nashik and other places till now.

The police raided the homes of Karni Sena Chittorgarh unit president Govind Singh Khangarot and vice-president Kamlendu Singh Solanki on Tuesday and arrested them.&nbsp;

Karni Sena chief: We won't let Padmaavat release, come what may

The Multiplex Association of India, which represents about 75% of multiplex owners, has announced that they will not be screening Padmaavat in four states - Rajasthan, Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh and Goa.

The decision came as Rajput outfits and other fringe elements vandalised malls, burned vehicles, and issued open threats to theatre owners and public in their bid to stall its release, claiming distortion of history.

&ldquo;For us safety of patrons is important. Depending on the scenario, we will see if the atmosphere is safe, then we will play it (in these four states). Things could change (but) at the moment we are looking at safety of people,&rdquo; Deepak Asher, president of the association said.

In Gujarat, theatre owners said that the film would not be screened in any of the multiplexes or single screens till the row was resolved.

No screening of 'Padmaavat' in 4 states, says Multiplex Association of India

Mall vandalised in Kurukshetra Haryana, suspected to be in protest against 'Padmaavat'

Senior lawyer and representative of &quot;Padmaavat&quot;&nbsp;producers in supreme court Harish Salve said that he received threatening calls on Friday.

The Delhi Police have registered a police complaint against unknown persons for threatening Salve, ANI reported.

Security has been beefed up at Salve&#39;s office following the incident. Salve said that he received a threatening call&nbsp;from a person who identified himself as a member of Karni Sena.
