Klopp fielded a second-string XI with a number of players, who had not enjoyed regular football this season. Southampton took the lead through a goal from Nathan Redmond in the 13th minute and it looked like Klopp's decision to field a second-string side might have backfired. However, Liverpool came from behind to win the game 2-1 and bag all three points.

Post the game, Klopp was asked about the decision to make a staggering nine changes in the team and the Liverpool boss responded by giving credit to his players. He also compared them to Ferraris stating that they all delivered when called upon despite having not featured regularly.

"After making nine changes, if it didn't work out it was my responsibility, now it worked out it's the boys' responsibility. I thought they did exceptionally well," Klopp said after Liverpool's win.

"I'm so happy about the performance. It was a bit touching. It's like having Ferraris in the garage," he added.

After Liverpool went behind in the 13th minute, Takumi Minamino equalised for them in the 27th minute before a towering header from Joel Matip secured a thumping 2-1 win for the Reds, who were without the likes of Mohammed Salah, Sadio Mane and Virgil Van Dijk among others.

"That Takumi doesn't play more often, that Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, who is in outstanding shape and is not part of the squad very often, Harvey (Elliott) didn't play for a long time, Curtis (Jones) didn't play for a long time and all these boys deliver, it's unbelievable," Klopp said lauding his players.

"I live in Liverpool. Here a lot of people want us to win the league that`s for sure. But even here it`s probably only 50%," Klopp said.

"As a manager I had this experience recently, we are obviously influenced by the game, the situation.

"I have said things, but would I say it again? No. I said Tottenham play how they play but are still only fifth. It felt good at the moment, but it is probably wrong."

Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp claimed FIFA's proposal to stage a World Cup every two years is "all about money" as former France star Patrick Vieira warned it would damage the standing of the competition.

The World Cup is currently played every four years, with the next edition scheduled for Qatar in 2022.

But FIFA president Gianni Infantino promised this week there would be decisions by the end of the year on the controversial plan, which is part of a move to cut out what he called "too many meaningless matches".

Former Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger, now director of development at FIFA, has backed the proposal from world football's governing body.

However, Aleksander Ceferin, president of European governing body UEFA, warned the plan would "dilute" the World Cup and the World Leagues Forum said it would "undermine players' welfare".

Fans groups from across the globe also voiced their opposition to the idea.

Klopp was strongly critical of the plans in his pre-match press conference on Friday.

"There is no other sport in the world with such a relentless calendar, no physical sport," he said.&nbsp;

"There are more demanding sports like athletics and marathons but they don't run 20 or 30 or 40 a year.

"We all know why it's happening. Whatever people say that it's about giving different countries opportunities, in the end it's all about money. That's how it is."

Klopp said if the World Cup became a biennial event it was certain that the European Championship would switch to being held every two years, meaning international players would be limited to a three-week break every year.

"At one point somebody has to start understanding that without the players -- the most important ingredients of this wonderful game -- we cannot play it," he said.

Crystal Palace manager Vieira, who played under Wenger at Arsenal, called his old boss a "visionary" but conceded having the World Cup every two years would lessen the importance of the competition.

"For me I think that it will lose a little bit of its importance to have the World Cup every two years," said Vieira, who won the 1998 World Cup with France.

Klopp believes many teams won't move into the transfer window until after Euro 2022, saying: "The market will be really strange.&nbsp;

"I hear about really big money moves... is Kylian Mbappe going? Haaland? Sancho? I don't see that happening a lot this summer because the football world is still not in the same place it was before.

"We will see how the market will develop but for sure it won't be an early market."
