<div>I remember taking a walk through the meadows that seemed never-ending, and sipping the traditional spiced kahwa at roadside stalls while chatting with locals who were incredibly warm and welcoming.</div>

<div>This cowardly <a href="https://www.wionews.com/tags/terrorist-attack">terrorist attack</a> on innocent civilians has shaken not just the valley, but the Indian nation.&nbsp;As I was scrolling through the images, it brought back so many memories.&nbsp;And one thought was: it could have been me.&nbsp;It could have been my family.</div>
<h2>A country unites</h2>
<div>And yet, something is different this time. It&rsquo;s not just the rest of India that's mourning. It&rsquo;s the people of Kashmir too. In a heartfelt show of solidarity and condemnation, local residents across Jammu and Kashmir held candle light marches, mourning the loss of innocent lives. Their message was louder than ever: This is not who we are.</div>

<p>The daughter shared the terrific situation to PTI, saying that her family went through the horrific attack in Pahalgam in Jammu and Kashmir on Tuesday.&nbsp;</p>

'Asked to recite Islamic verse': Tourists recall horror after Pahalgam terror attack

<p>A terror attack in Baisaran, Pahalgam claimed the life of at least 27 people including two foreigners and left many others injured on Tuesday. The attack has been claimed by The Resistance Front (TRF), a group linked to the banned terror outfit Lashkar-e-Taiba.</p>
<p>A victim, Manjunath Rao, was visiting the Baisaran meadow, often called &lsquo;mini Switzerland&rsquo;, with his wife and young son when the shooting happened.</p>
<p>His wife, Pallavi, described the moment. &ldquo;Three of us &ndash; me, my husband and our son &ndash; had gone to Kashmir. It happened around 1.30 pm, I think. We were at Pahalgam. He died on the spot, in front of my eyes,&rdquo; she told India Today. &ldquo;It still feels like a bad dream,&rdquo; she added.</p>

<p>Pallavi said the attackers seemed to be targeting Hindu tourists. &ldquo;Three to four people attacked us. I told them &ndash; kill me too, you&rsquo;ve already killed my husband. One of them said, &lsquo;I won&rsquo;t kill you. Go tell this to Modi&rsquo;,&rdquo; she recounted. She also mentioned that local civilians helped her immediately after the attack. &ldquo;Three local people rescued me,&rdquo; she added.</p>
<p>Eyewitnesses said the attackers came out of the thick pine forests surrounding the area and started shooting at civilians, triggering chaos and panic.</p>

<p>Security agencies, including the army, CRPF and local police, quickly launched a search operation to hunt down the attackers. Injured tourists were airlifted from the site, while some were carried by locals on ponies.&nbsp;</p>
<p>Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah called the attack &ldquo;much larger than anything we&rsquo;ve seen directed at civilians in recent years.&rdquo; He noted that the full death toll was still being confirmed.</p>
<p>Prime Minister Narendra Modi strongly condemned the killings, calling it a &ldquo;heinous act&rdquo; and promising that the attackers would be &ldquo;brought to justice.&rdquo; He stressed that their &ldquo;evil agenda will never succeed.&rdquo;</p>
<p>Home Minister Amit Shah echoed this message, saying the attackers &ldquo;won&rsquo;t be spared.&rdquo; He confirmed the death and injuries, and has reached Srinagar for an urgent security review after speaking with the Prime Minister.</p>

Jammu and Kashmir Police have intensified operations against cybercrime and have over 20,000 such bank accounts on their radar. More than 50 people have been detained for the investigation of the case.</p>
<p>The Jammu and Kashmir Police revealed that 7200 bank accounts were flagged, while the number could go further to over 20,000 accounts. The transaction amounts have not yet been disclosed by the investigative agencies, but reports suggest that they could be in crores.</p>
<p>These &lsquo;mule accounts&rsquo; are basically a third-party account used by cybercriminals to obscure the black money trail. The scammers recruit people via social media platforms to open these bank accounts, and these are kept active for a short period of time. During this time, illicit funds are deposited, and the accounts are swiftly closed.</p>

Mule accounts are those accounts that are used for cyber fraud on a rental basis. The cybercriminals give commission to these account holders. We approached I4C, which is the cyber coordination centre, and with their help we managed to identify 3400 accounts, and later we managed to unmask 7200 accounts. We have initiated proceedings against 50 people, two kingpins have been arrested, and we are sure more arrests will be taking place in the coming time. The investigations are on,&rdquo; said Iftikhar Talib, SP Cyber Cell, Kashmir.</p>
<p>Jammu and Kashmir Police have filed four FIRs in this case so far. All the people detained will be questioned and investigated about who directed them to do so.&nbsp;</p>
<p>As all accounts require signatures and official documentation of the account holder, the people got alarmed on noticing big transactions in their accounts. A lot of them reached out to a social activist, who became a whistleblower and took them to the police and civil administration.</p>

They told me that they got links via social media from some local people who told them that if they fill in account details, they will be given a daily commission of Rs 5000 or Rs 10,000, depending on the transactions. I took them to the police and civil administration and filed a case. I am glad that SSP Srinagar took action and identified 7200 mule accounts. I am sure there are over 20,000 plus such accounts,&rdquo; said Harris, a social activist.</p>
<p>Some victims who got lured into the cybercrime racket recall that they gave the bank account details on the premise that they would be paid money, but after they shared the details, all the money was withdrawn from their accounts.</p>

<p>India and Pakistan on Friday held a flag meeting along the Line of Control (LoC) in Jammu and Kashmir's Poonch district in an effort to ease tension after several recent incidents of cross-border firing and an IED attack, official sources said.</p>
<p>The sources said the brigade-commander level flag meeting took place in the Chakkan-Da-Bagh crossing point area with both sides highlighting the need to maintain peace along the borders.</p>
<p>The 75-minute long meeting started around 11 am, they said.</p>

<p>The joint operations of the Army's 1st Rashtriya Rifles (RR), Jammu and Kashmir Police and 178 Battalion of the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) managed to avert a big tragedy in the Shopian area as the IED was planted very close to the roadside.</p>
<p>Security forces have now cordoned off both places and are carrying out a massive search operation at both locations. More deployment was brought in for searching and sanitising the areas around the incident sites.</p>
