Iran also stages a walkout
Similarly, part of the Iranian delegation left the assembly as Trump began his Iran portion of the speech. Trump said that he will drive Iran to “hell”, then said that he has a choice to make.“But I have a big decision to make,” Trump said. “Will a deal be made with Iran that lets them rebuild and create a far greater country than it ever was before? Maybe one of the greatest in the Middle East or even the world?“Or do I annihilate the Islamic Republic and do it quickly? Never giving them a chance to kill and destroy countries again?” Trump continued.“Do I drive them into hell with no chance of survival and no hope of future greatness or generations?” Trump asked rhetorically. “But I believe we’ll make a deal, right after the election.”

New satellite imagery reveals Iran is rapidly rebuilding Taleghan 2, a facility inside the Parchin military complex tied to Iran's past nuclear weapons research under the Amad programme. The site, struck by Israel in October 2024 and again in March 2026, now shows construction crews adding concrete reinforcement for blast protection and a tarp concealing work from aerial view. Watchdogs say Iran first patched bomb craters in June before ramping up reconstruction, raising fresh concerns just months after the site was last destroyed.

The risk to global trade is growing as two crucial maritime chokepoints face disruption.
The Strait of Hormuz and Bab-el-Mandeb are vital routes for global shipping and energy supplies.
Any disruption could force ships to take longer and more expensive alternative routes.
The Bab-el-Mandeb connects the Red Sea with the Gulf of Aden and is key to Europe-Asia trade.

Marking two decades since its inception, the expanded 11-member BRICS bloc is pushing to transform the Global South from passive "rule-takers" into active "rule-shapers" of the international system. As world leaders gather in New Delhi, the key question remains whether a diverse group of nations can forge sustainable consensus, challenge Western-dominated institutions, and act as a stabilizing force in a fractured global order.

Tehran has condemned what it describes as support for Israeli-U.S. military action against Iran, accusing those backing the campaign of endorsing aggression. The remarks come amid continuing tensions and fallout from the U.S.-Israel war with Iran.

US Iran War: Tehran slams endorsing Israel-US aggression

Iranian Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf declared the era of "proportionate responses" is over, warning any future US aggression will trigger a "faster, heavier, and more painful" reply. It comes after US forces struck three Iranian oil tankers off Kharg Island and near Jask, retaliating for IRGC missiles fired at two Navy warships — both of which evaded the attack. Iran hit back, targeting tankers and US-linked vessels in the Strait of Hormuz.

The USS Abraham Lincoln just pulled into port after 286 grueling days at sea, exposing the severe logistical strain facing the US military in the Persian Gulf. With forward supply hubs damaged and recent strikes erupting around the Strait of Hormuz, over 20,000 American troops on 20 warships must source food, parts, and fuel from Diego Garcia, more than 3,500 kilometres away and from Singapore about 6,000 KM away. Here is how Iran turned supply lines into a high-stakes war of attrition against the world's most powerful navy.

Tensions are boiling over again. Israeli Defense Minister Israel Katz warned that any Iranian attack would remove "every existing constraint" — threatening to hit Tehran's energy and civilian infrastructure and send Iran "back into the Stone Age." Hours later, PM Netanyahu declared toppling Iran's regime is Israel's "central mission" and now "within reach," calling the regime "weaker than ever." It comes amid fresh US-Iran clashes near the Gulf and growing fears of a full reignition of the war that began in February.
