Mamata's statement comes a day after the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) in a briefing confirmed that Bangladesh had conveyed its objection to the statements made by the Trinamool Congress (TMC) leader.&nbsp;

“I can confirm that we have received such a communication from the Bangladesh side. It is on the lines described in the reports,” said MEA spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal on Thursday.

On Wednesday (Jul 24) Bangladesh Foreign Minister Hasan Mahmud stated that his ministry sent a diplomatic note to New Delhi.&nbsp;

"With due respect to the West Bengal Chief Minister, with whom we share a very close relationship, we want to make it clear that her comments have a lot of scope for confusion. Therefore, we have given a note to the Government of India," Mahmud said.

"Excess mortality reported in the 'Science Advances' paper in 2020 over the previous year is a gross and misleading overestimate," the ministry said.&nbsp;

The study titled Large and unequal life expectancy declines during the COVID-19 pandemic in India in 2020&nbsp;stated that India lost 2.6 years in life expectancy between 2019 and 2020. It added that the decline was&nbsp;more pronounced among females (3.1 years) compared to males (2.1 years).&nbsp;

The researchers looked at the social groups&nbsp;and found that upper-caste&nbsp;Hindu groups experienced a life expectancy decline of 1.3 years, whereas Muslims and Scheduled Tribes experienced a 5.4-year and 4.1-year drop in their life expectancies.

Overall, the study stated that&nbsp;mortality across India was 17 per cent&nbsp;higher in 2020 compared to 2019, implying 1.19 million excess deaths in India. The paper highlighted that the decline in&nbsp;life expectancy was higher among young individuals and those aged 50-60.&nbsp;

“Even though absolute increases in mortality were highest in the oldest ages, mortality increases in the younger ages contributed substantially to life expectancy losses because life expectancy is more sensitive to early-life mortality," the study authors noted.&nbsp;

Italy and Kazakhstan summits top diplomatic agenda for new Indian government

In a U-turn, Google announced its decision to reinstate Indian apps it had removed due to a billing dispute, marking a shift in stance following backlash from the Indian government and local internet startups. <o:p></o:p>

According to a Reuters report, the move comes after Google faced widespread criticism for removing over 100 Indian apps, including popular ones like Matrimony.com, for non-compliance with its in-app payment policy, which mandates a service fee for transactions not routed through Google's payment system.<o:p></o:p>

Two 16-year-olds have been charged in connection with the shooting, said the Surrey detachment of the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) in a statement.&nbsp;

Multiple shots had been fired at the residence of an associate of the pro-Khalistan figure Nijjar who was killed in Canada’s Surrey, British Columbia, last year.

Since then Khalistani separatist groups in Canada, including Sikhs for Justice (SFJ) had alleged the involvement of the Indian government in the shooting which took place at Simranjeet Singh’s residence on February 1.&nbsp;

Officers responded to a report of shots fired at a residence in the 2800-block of 154 Street, on February 1 at around 1:21 am (local time), said the RCMP.&nbsp;

“At the time of this incident, there was speculation circulating that this was connected to foreign interference. Investigators have not established any links to foreign interference in relation to this matter,” it added.&nbsp;

The shots were fired at Simranjeet Singh’s home, earlier this month, who is reportedly a close associate of Hardeep Singh Nijjar and helped organise a pro-Khalistani protest outside the Indian consulate in Vancouver on January 26.&nbsp;

A spokesperson for the British Columbia Gurdwaras Council and prominent figure of the pro-Khalistan movement in Canada, Moninder Singh told CBC News how Simranjeet believes the Indian government is involved in the incident.&nbsp;

The security alert, which was issued on December 13, categorised the concern as high-risk and emphasised the urgency of updating the operating system or firmware in the existing Samsung mobile phones. 
 
"Multiple vulnerabilities have been reported in Samsung products that could allow an attacker to bypass implemented security restrictions, access sensitive information, and execute arbitrary code on the targeted system," said CERT, in its vulnerability note. 
 
The note&nbsp;emphasised the issues which might affect Samsung mobile phones that have been using Android versions 11 and above.

That OIC does so at the behest of a serial violator of human rights and an unrepentant promoter of cross-border terrorism makes its action even more questionable. Such statements only undermine OIC’s credibility," he added, in an oblique reference to Pakistan.&nbsp;

A day after the top court issued its verdict, OIC expressed "concern" over the decision, claiming the reversal of Article 370 was "illegal and unilateral".&nbsp;

"The General Secretariat reaffirms its solidarity with the people of Jammu and Kashmir in their quest for the right of self-determination and reiterates its call on the international community to enhance its efforts to resolve the issue of Jammu and Kashmir in accordance with the relevant United Nations Security Council resolutions," OIC said in the statement.

Notably, OIC has 57 member states from across four continents and describes itself as the voice of the Muslim world. The organisation has been known for taking a radical approach to Kashmir and has sided with Pakistan which claims authority over parts of the region.&nbsp;

The government order says that this is part of the UT administration's action against the terrorist ecosystem and its key stakeholders. In the last three years, the J&amp;K administration has invoked 311 (2) (c) of the Constitution of India to sack more than 59 employees for their involvement in anti-national and terror activities.&nbsp;

“Two pistols, six empty magazines and ten grenades were also recovered from their possession. A case FIR no 128/2023 under sections 7/25 of the Arms Act and 13, 18, 23, 39 of the UAPA has been registered,” said Jammu and Kashmir police.&nbsp;

The inspector-general of registrations and revenue has already received a list of around 4,200 terrorists living in PoK from the last three decades. The revenue department most likely would be seizing the properties and making sure that these properties are neither sold nor bought by anyone.&nbsp;

Jammu and Kashmir Police recently also attached properties of those found guilty of wilfully providing shelter to the terrorists.

The special session of parliament will initially commence in the old parliament building and subsequently shift to the new facility on the day of Ganesh Chaturthi. Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the new Parliament building on May 28 this year.

The notice needs to be supported by the signatures of at least 50 Members of Parliament. In order for the House Speaker to read the notice, the front needed&nbsp;to submit the same before 10 am on Wednesday, PTI news agency said.&nbsp;

In addition, Congress had&nbsp;also issued a whip in Lok Sabha for the party members to be present in its parliamentary office "to discuss some important issues" by 10:30 am.&nbsp;

The key decision was taken during a meeting of INDIA MPs on Tuesday.&nbsp;

One of the alliance leaders said the meeting was held to force the Indian government to hold a discussion on the Manipur issue. It is not just in Lok Sabha that the opposition alliance INDIA is trying to target the government. Its strategy is also to continue building pressure on the government in the Rajya Sabha.&nbsp;

"We discussed that if we move a notice of no-confidence motion with 50 MP signatures, the PM will have to speak. If he still doesn't speak, it will send a clear message that he is running away. It is a matter of perception. We are working on it now and we will make sure we submit it before 10 am tomorrow," said a senior leader of the alliance.

"The overall parliamentary strategy is in place for the INDIA parties. Tactics to execute that strategy evolve every day. Rule 198 of the Lok Sabha states the procedure of moving a no-confidence motion. 'Picture abhi baki hai' (the story is still unfolding)!" said Derek O'Brien, Trinamool's leader in Rajya Sabha.

Indian Union Home Minister Amit Shah has written to the leaders of Opposition in both Houses saying that the Indian government is ready for a discussion. "They (Opposition) are not interested in co-operation, they are not interested in Dalits, nor in the welfare of women, so their sloganeering is very obvious. However, I want to say again that I have written to the leaders of Opposition in both Houses that I am ready for a detailed debate on Manipur. The government has no fear and anyone who wants to discuss is welcome," the home minister said in Lok Sabha.
