<p>The canopy collapsed at approximately 11am, with an estimated 10-12 individuals suspected to be trapped, said the&nbsp;Delhi police, as reported by ANI.&nbsp;They were subsequently rescued and transported to AIIMS Trauma Hospital for medical treatment.</p>

<p>“As of now, no causality has been reported. Police, Fire and Ambulance are there on the spot for other rescue efforts,” the police further said.</p>

<p>The US&nbsp;State Department announced on Friday (Feb 16) that a Panamanian-flagged tanker carrying crude oil bound for India was struck by a missile in the Red Sea. According to reports, the missile, launched from Yemen, hit the M/T Pollux on its port side.</p>

<p>Earlier on the same day, both the United Kingdom Maritime Trade Operations (UKMTO) agency and British maritime security firm Ambrey reported that a Panama-flagged tanker had been hit approximately 72 nautical miles&nbsp;(133 km)&nbsp;northwest of the port of Mokha, off Yemen. Ambrey stated that the vessel, identified as the M/T Pollux, sustained minor damage and confirmed that the crew was safe and unharmed.</p>

<p>The aircraft would be fitted with the required radars and sensors. India’s Defence Research and Development Organisation's (DRDO) Centre for Airborne Systems (CABS) will turn them into maritime patrol planes.</p>

<p>"There are plans for acquiring long-range maritime surveillance aircraft, which the Air Force has taken, and the contracts will be signed with TASL (Tata Advanced Systems Limited), wherein we are about to get six C295 transport aircraft,"&nbsp;Indian Coast Guard Chief Director General Rakesh Pal was quoted as saying by ANI.</p>

<p>He said, "The Ministry of Defence is giving us adequate funds to ensure that our acquisition processes are all fast-tracked."</p>

<h2><strong>Significance of the move</strong></h2>

<p>The procurement of 15 aircraft for the navy and coast guard will boost the surveillance, reconnaissance, and patrol capabilities of the two forces.</p>

<p>Earlier on Wednesday (Feb 14), the Ministry of Defence also inked an INR 1,752.13 crore contract with a Kanpur-based firm for manufacturing and supply&nbsp;of 463 indigenously built 12.7 mm stabilised remote control guns for the Indian Navy and the Indian Coast Guard.</p>
