"Generally speaking, we still prepare the pitch the exact same way every time to try and get the same good carry, pace and bounce that the Gabba is known for.

"We are just trying to make a traditional Gabba wicket like we do each year," he added.

The last time India played at the Gabba, they went on to win the match in an epic fashion and became the first team to beat Australia at their fortress in nearly 32 years.

Sandurski, while further talking about the pitch, gave an example of a domestic Sheffield Shield match from last year between Victoria and Queensland which saw 15 wickets fall on the first day, albeit with a pink-ball.

Indian pacer Jasprit Bumrah revealed that he never got formal coaching while growing up and learnt everything about the game on television. Bumrah also stated that when he had started, many thought he would last not more than six-seven months. Bumrah made his international debut in 2016 and soon became a regular in white-ball before making his Test debut in 2018. At present, he remains an integral part of India's lineup across formats and is the vice-captain in the longest format.

Bumrah further shared, "When I used to play cricket as a youngster, there used to be benches over there. So I couldn’t go any further than that. So I couldn’t go through that. So that was the limit that we had. So we used to keep it as a boundary. So I used to run in from there. So when I came into serious cricket, I tried to run more. Initially, I did run a lot more, but it used to have no difference to my pace. It used to stay the same."

"So at that time, I thought, okay, might as well conserve some energy to&nbsp;bowl faster for a long period. So I had this and it did, it made no difference to my bowling. So I thought I’d keep it with me. I don’t think a lot of people believed in me because they thought that this bowling action will not last for long. He’ll play for six months, seven months. So not really a lot of people worked on me or, you know, gave me inputs that, you know, I think this is useful or you should stop doing that because. I don’t think they saw a lot of merit."

“I think that worked out in my favour because&nbsp;I was self-reliant then and I had to have a lot of self-belief and find out solutions on my own. So yes, nobody tried to change me, but nobody gave any extra solutions. So that worked out for the best in the greater interest, but then that helped me develop, you know, relying on yourself and having self-belief. So I think that worked out brilliantly for me," Bumrah added.

Bumrah is currently involved in the five-match Test series between India and Australia in Australia. "So at that time, I thought, okay, might as well conserve some energy to bowl faster for a long period. So I had this and it did, it made no difference to my bowling. So I thought I’d keep it with me. I don’t think a lot of people believed in me because they thought that this bowling action will not last for long. He’ll play for six months, seven months. So not really a lot of people worked on me or, you know, gave me inputs that, you know, I think this is useful or you should stop doing that because. It's a very small challenge right now in front of India, that Rahul comes in at one or two or he bats at three or four. I think the bigger challenge is what is going to be the playing 11 for India, which I'm sure that the management would be thinking. we have options which are very good. Everyone is a very good option, but then which is your playing 11. So I guess the discussion point will not be who bats at what position. The discussion point will be who is there in the team to bat, in the 11 to bat.

Do you back Washington Sundar's chances in playing 11 over Ravi Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja again?

As I mentioned, the Indian team will probably be thinking as to who should be there in the 11. Because fortunately for us, we are in a situation where they can just close their eyes and pick players. It's that good a situation, fortunately for us. And because we have won the first test match, the confidence is also there which was always there, but it has strengthened that confidence. So whether it's Jadeja or Ashwin or Washy or even Nitish Kumar Reddy, you can pick anyone and play. So it's a very happy situation, pleasing position to be in for Indian cricket. Because we are in Australia, we are thinking who should play rather than thinking, oh, my God, who is in better form to play? So That's a very nice situation to be in.

What's your result prediction for this Test and the complete series?

See how quickly the question changes. Just prior to the series, everyone was thinking, Oh, what will India do (after losing home series to NZ)? 4-0, 4-1, 3-0, whatever we were thinking. Now we won the first Test from adversity, and we are saying this (positive series result). I think it's one Test at a time, one day at a time. And as a cricketer, it is one ball at a time. It's not that we have won the first Test,&nbsp;so Australians have taken a leave. So it is one Test at a time.

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has banned the open net-practice session for India after an outpour of fans in Adelaide ahead of the second Border-Gavaskar Trophy (BGT) Test. The players were also disturbed, mocked, laughed at during the session which prompted the Indian cricket board to take the action.

As per a report in local media outlet Sydney Morning Herald, nearly 5,000 fans were there at the open session and it became a bit difficult to manage them given the close proximity.

“It was very different,” India batter KL Rahul told reporters about the experience on Wednesday (Dec 4). “We are not used to it. We have had practice with crowds, but it’s mostly T20 and ODIs back home. We’ve had crowds come in and watch our practice sessions.”

“So, it felt a little different, but it also adds to your preparation for the Test match and gives us a bit of what we can expect on day one or all the days here in Adelaide, so it was good,” he added.

The Indian board has also requested Cricket Australia to not promote any more such sessions for the upcoming Tests as well.

The second Test will be a day-night match to be played with the pink ball from December 6.

Australia have won all the six pink-ball games they have played, including against India in 2020—the first match of the tour. This time Adelaide is the second stop in the five-Test series, with India leading 1-0 after winning the first match in Perth by 295 runs.

India though have a solid chance of taking a 2-0 lead in the series if they manage to keep out the collapses - a recurring feature in recent past, but Australia hits different to India batters, and they have shown that in the first Test.
