Lok Sabha&nbsp;Leader of Opposition&nbsp;Rahul Gandhi alongside&nbsp;several leaders of the INDIA bloc, including those from the TMC and AAP, participated in the protest on the steps leading to the Makar Dwar in Parliament.

As power reports, they carried placards which read "Stop misusing agencies to silence opposition" and "BJP mein jao bhrashtachar ka licence pao (Join the BJP and get a licence for corruption)".&nbsp;Some AAP leaders also displayed posters of Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal standing behind bars.

This comes as three new criminal laws replacing British-era laws come into effect in India on Monday. These new laws, as per reports, take into account some current social realities and modern-day crimes.

With the opposition slamming the ruling government over what they say is NDA's "bulldozer justice," the second week of the first session of the 18th Lok Sabha is expected to see a fiery, chaotic start.

Named the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS) and the Bharatiya Sakshya Adhiniyam (BSA), these laws have replaced the British-era Indian Penal Code, Code of Criminal Procedure and the Indian Evidence Act, respectively.

The opposition has slammed the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) led NDA Alliance and said that it was another case of "bulldozing" existing laws and that "90-99 per cent of the so-called new laws are a cut, copy and paste job".

In a post on X, senior Congress leader P Chidambaram said that "90-99 per cent of the so-called new laws are a cut, copy and paste job. A task that could have been completed with a few amendments to the existing three laws has been turned into a wasteful exercise."&nbsp;

Opposition MPs stage protest outside Parliament, accuse BJP-led NDA of 'misusing' probe agencies

India's Parliament security breach saga has taken another turn with two of the six accused behind the major security lapse undergoing narco-analysis and brain mapping tests. On the orders of the court, a team of the Delhi Police Special Cell has taken accused Sagar Sharma, Manoranjan D, Amol Shinde, Lalit Jha and Mahesh Kumawat to Ahmedabad, Gujarat where the test will be conducted.

<h2>Narco test</h2>

The narco test is being conducted in India's most important forensic laboratory, the Forensic Science Laboratory in Gandhinagar. On Thursday (Jan 11), as per news agency ANI, tests of accused Sagar Sharma and&nbsp;Manoranjan D were underway. The whole process is expected to be completed by Friday (Jan 12).

Furthermore, all five will have to take polygraph tests. The sixth accused, Neelam Azad, refused to give her consent for the test.

As per the report, narco-analysis and brain mapping tests on Sagar and Manoranjan were ordered by the court to conclude the real mastermind behind the Parliament infiltration.&nbsp;

Delhi Police reportedly suspects that Manoranjan D was the mastermind behind the parliament security breach.&nbsp;

Quoting sources, ANI reports that during interrogation, one of the accused Lalit Jha accused Manoranjan and said that he was constantly trying for funding and that Manoranjan's final goal was to create a big organisation.

Lalit also said that he had no idea Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act, UAPA, would be imposed on all of them after the incident.&nbsp;

In a major security breach on the anniversary of the 2001 Parliament terror attack, on Wednesday (Dec 13), two men - Sagar Sharma and Manoranjan D - entered the Lok Sabha. They jumped into the chamber from the public gallery during Zero Hour. There, they released coloured smoke and shouted slogans before being overpowered by the MPs.

Two other&nbsp;individuals — Neelam and Amold Shinde — were detained outside the Parliament complex for staging a protest. The four were promptly arrested and charged under the stringent Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act.

As per reports, on Wednesday, police picked up an ex-techie and a 50-year-old man from Karnataka's Bagalkot city and Uttar Pradesh's Jalaun district, respectively.

A Times of India (TOI) report identifies the arrested men as a "50-year-old jobless man named Atul Kulshreshtha", and a senior software engineer, Sai Krishna.

As per a PTI news agency report, the two are being questioned over their alleged involvement in the security breach.&nbsp;

Citing sources, the news agency reported&nbsp;that one of them is said to be a close friend of Manoranjan D, one of the two men who disrupted parliament proceedings on the day.&nbsp;It goes on to identify the individual as Sai Krishna.&nbsp;

They will remain in police custody for seven days. Their custody ends on Thursday, following which they will be produced before a court, where the Special Cell is expected to seek further custody.

Two more&nbsp;individuals were arrested later. According to the police, they are&nbsp;Lalit Jha and Mahesh Kumawat, and the two have also been interrogated.

Indian government announced a five-day special session of Parliament from September 18 to 22, and the latest reports suggest that the session will begin in the old building and will shift to the new Parliament building on September 19, India-based news agency ANI reported citing sources. The shift is expected to be on the occasion of Ganesh Chaturthi.&nbsp;

"The Special Session of Parliament will start in the old building on 18th September and will be later moved to the new building on 19th September on the occasion of Ganesh Chaturthi: Sources," ANI tweeted.&nbsp;

With the announcement of the special session, people started speculating on its agenda. Some say the session would be about rumoured plans to scrap official usage of India after a state-issued invite sent to world leaders referred to it as "Bharat".&nbsp;

As India’s top opposition leader Rahul Gandhi lambasted Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s government on Wednesday (August 9) on the second day of the no-confidence motion debate, a massive row erupted over the alleged portrayal of his speech by state broadcaster Sansad TV.

Opposition party Congress alleged that while Gandhi spoke for about 37 minutes in the lower house of the parliament, Sansad TV showed him on screen for just 14 minutes and 37 seconds. Instead, Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla was shown for most of the time.

It must be noted that state-funded Sansad TV is the only channel that has the rights to telecast parliamentary proceedings in India.

<h2>What is Congress alleging?</h2>

Congress general secretary Jairam Ramesh said in a post on X, “In his first speech after coming back from the unjustified disqualification, Rahul Gandhi spoke from 12:09 pm to 12:46 pm (37 minutes), during the No-Confidence Motion. Out of which the Sansad TV camera showed him for ONLY 14 mins 37 seconds. That’s less than 40% screen time!”

“What is Mr Modi afraid of,” he asked.

In the second post, Ramesh claimed that when Gandhi spoke on the Manipur issue, which has become a bone of contention between the ruling BJP and opposition INDIA alliance, Sansad TV kept the cameras away for good “71 per cent of the time.”

During his speech, Gandhi slammed Prime Minister Modi over Manipur, saying that he didn’t visit the violence-hit state because he does&nbsp;not consider Manipur to be a part of India.

“I am saying Manipur but the truth is there is nothing of Manipur left in Manipur. You have divided Manipur into two parts," he said in the Lok Sabha.

India's opposition Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on Wednesday attacked the government alleging that two Indias, one for the rich and one for the poor, have been created and the gap between them was widening, even as he claimed that the country was at risk both internally and externally.

Speaking first from the Opposition side in Lok Sabha during the debate on the Motion of Thanks on the President's address, he said the speech to a joint sitting of Parliament didn't touch the central challenges facing the country and was a "list of bureaucratic ideas" instead of a strategic vision.

"There are now two distinct Indias, one India is for the extremely rich people - for those who have immense wealth, immense power, for those who don't need a job, those who don't need water connection,electricity connections, but for those who control the heartbeat of the country...The gap is widening between the two," he claimed.

Gandhi accused the ruling BJP of bringing back the idea of a "king of India" that was "smashed in 1947" and targeted the PM saying that the "idea of a king is back".

"India is described in the Constitution as a union of states and not as a nation. One cannot rule over the people of a state in India. Different languages and cultures cannot be suppressed. It is a partnership, not a kingdom," he said. Stressing on the importance of cooperative federalism, he said that the only way India has been ruled over the decades is through conversations.

"Congress smashed the idea of a king in 1947, but now that has come back. There is a vision that India can be ruled by a stick from the Centre. Every time that has happened, the stick has been broken," he said.

"That is the only way India has been ruled. You can look at Ashoka, Maurya, the country has always been ruled by conversation and negotiation.

"My great grandfather was jailed for 15 years. My grandmother was shot 32 times. My father was blown to bits. So I know what I am talking about. You are fiddling with something very, very dangerous. I am advising you to stop. If you don't stop you will create a problem. The problem has already started," Gandhi said.

Gandhi alleged that the government lacked any idea of history and they sought to suppress the concept of Union of States as against the idea of a king.

"There are two competing visions of India. One, of a Union of States, where decisions are taken through conversation and negotiation - a partnership of equals. Another, of rule by a Shahenshah's diktat. This hasn't worked in 3000 years. BJP's flawed vision has weakened our nation," he said.

He said that India was weakening and is completely isolated and questioned why no foreign dignitary was present as chief guest during the Republic Day celebrations.

"We are surrounded in Sri Lanka, Nepal, Burma, Pakistan, Afghanistan, China. Everywhere we are surrounded. Our opponents understand our position," he said.

The Congress leader also accused the BJP and the RSS of playing with the foundation of the country and ensuring that jobs were at a premium. Targeting the government over unemployment, Gandhi said that the presidential address made no mention of job losses.

"You keep talking about Made in India, Made in India. Made in India is not possible anymore. You have destroyed 'Made in India'. You need to support small and medium industries, otherwise 'Made in India' is not possible. Small and medium industries are the only ones who can create jobs.

"You keep talking about Made in India, Start-Up India, etc. And joblessness is only increasing. We had taken 27 crore people out of poverty. You have thrown 23 crore people back into poverty," Gandhi said.

The Congress MP tore into the government over unemployment and said it was because of "your flawed vision that two Indias are being created".

He referred to the protest of Railway aspirants in Bihar over jobs and said how the government was unable to provide jobs.

Gandhi also accused the government of using the judiciary, the Election Commission, and Pegasus spyware as "instruments of destroying the voice of the union of states".

The Congress leader alleged that the wealth of the country was in the hands of a chosen few.

"I want to advise the PM that you are making two Indias. Please start working towards bringing the two Indias together. Stop sending the wealth of India to a chosen few...", he said.

Speaking on foreign policy issues, Gandhi said that the present government's stand on China and Pakistan worked only to bring the two neighbouring countries together to work against India.

"The single biggest strategic goal of India has been to keep China and Pakistan apart. But what you have done is brought them together. You have committed the single biggest crime you can commit...China has a plan.

"The foundation of their (China and Pakistan) plan has been put in place in Doklam and Ladakh. This is a serious threat to India. We have made a huge strategic mistake in J&amp;K and in our foreign policy," he said.

Gandhi also said that the country was under seige both from within and from outside and cautioned the government of its dangers.

"The nation is now at risk from outside and inside and that is a very dangerous lace for a nation to be in. This worries me," he said.
