The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes is based on Suzanne Collins’ prequel novel of the same name. The film will follow a young Coriolanus Snow (Tom Blyth), who strives to revive his family’s legacy. In the midst of his efforts, he is tasked with mentoring District 12’s tribute and Panem’s favourite, Lucy Gray Baird (Rachel Zegler). Coriolanus works with Lucy to keep her alive in the Hunger Games, and he begins to battle between good and evil. We will get to see Jason Schwartzman as Lucretious Flickerman, a descendant of Stanley Tucci’s Caesar Flickerman. Coriolanus’ cousin, Tigris Snow, is portrayed by Hunter Schafer. Peter Dinklage portrays one of the creators of the Hunger Games, Dean Casca Highbottom, while Viola Davis plays Dr. Volumnia Gail, the head game maker of the 10th annual Hunger Games. We were shooting in a beautiful estate in the countryside of France and I asked the driver to let me out in this field so I could cry and capture this moment. Even tho this time in Paris was extremely hard for me, was going thru a bad breakup and also was sexually assaulted by someone I had worked with."&nbsp;</p>

<p>"This photo was taken right after I wrapped <em>Mockingjay Part Two </em>and I had to say goodbye to everyone on set,” Malone wrote of the throwback pic, which shows her standing alone in the middle of a field in France.<br />

<p>Actor Josh Andres Rivera will share the screen again with his ‘West Side Story' co-star Rachel Zegler in the ‘Hunger Games’ prequel. It will be a special treat for fans to see the couple acting together again. Rivera will play Sejanus Plinth, the mentor to a tribute from District 2 and a close friend of young Coriolanus Snow, to be played by Tom Blyth.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Actor Rachel Zegler has been signed to play the role of Lucy Gray, the girl tribute from impoverished District 12. Sharing a repost of the film’s casting news, Rachel took to her Instagram account and wrote, "She's "never been prouder" of her boyfriend, Josh Andres Rivera after it was announced that he will star in ‘The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes’ alongside her. She had also shared the update on her Twitter account, where she said: "always and forever proud of my Joshua".&nbsp;</p>

<p>Filmmaker Francis Lawrence will return to direct the franchise, while Nina Jacobson and Brad Simpson will also return as producers. The prequel is scheduled for a theatrical worldwide release on November 17, 2023.&nbsp;</p>

<p>The prequel will follow the story of Coriolanus Snow (Tom Blyth), an 18-year-old who will go on to become the dictator President of Panem. He is the last chance for his fading lineage, a once-proud family that has fallen out of favour in the post-war Capitol. The young Snow is disturbed when he is assigned to train Lucy Gray Baird (Zegler), the girl tribute from impoverished District 12, with the 10th annual Hunger Games quickly approaching. Snow believes he can turn the odds in his favour after Lucy Gray commands all of Panem's attention by defiantly singing at the reaping ceremony. Snow and Lucy's fight against time to survive will reveal who is a songbird, and who is a snake.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Rachel and Rivera began dating after starring opposite each other in Steven Spielberg’s ‘West Side Story.’ Rachel played Maria, the love interest of Ansel Elgort’s Tony, in the film, while Rivera portrayed Chino, Maria’s would-be love interest who becomes the main antagonist in the Sharks versus Jets scuffles.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Rivera will next be seen opposite Nicholas Braun, Emilia Jones, and Geraldine Viswanathan in Susanna Fogel's adaptation of Cat Person, based on Kristen Roupenian's buzzy short story published in The New Yorker.</p>

Jennifer Lawrence offended over plunging dress furore, blasts media

<p>Sanjay Leela Bhansali perhaps could have never imagined that his magnum opus Padmavati would divide an entire country with contrasting opinions. &nbsp;Right from the time the filming of Padmavati began, there have been agitations around the film. In January Rajput Karni Sena, stormed the sets of the film, thrashed the director and vandalised the sets.&nbsp;<br />

While assurance from Bhansali productions came soon after that the film did not distort history or disrespect Rajput history in any manner, opposition against the film continued to grow.&nbsp;<br />

Things took an ugly turn when the film&#39;s trailer released in October as protestors gained steam. While earlier the group had objected to an alleged dream sequence between Rani Padmavati and Alauddin Khilji - which the makers assured did not exist- later the protestors claimed that the film distorted history.<br />
<br />
The protests in the past few weeks have gained momentum after various state governments also raised objection towards the film. While the release of the film has been deferred- it was earlier scheduled to release on December 1- many of the states have declared a ban on the film&#39;s screening.<br />

Here is a quick look at which of the states have opposed to&nbsp;</p>

<p>The protests began in <strong>Rajasthan</strong> back in January when Rajput Karni Sena vandalised the film&#39;s set. Later in September, Karni Sena&#39;s Lokendra Singh Kalvi reiterates that his organisation will oppose the film&#39;s screening if facts are &quot;distorted&quot;. Earlier in November, protest by the Karni Sena against the film picked up the pace in Rajasthan with a complete bandh observed in Chittorgarh. Now, the state CM Vasundhara Raje has stated that the film will not be released in the state until changes in the film are made.The Chief Minister had suggested that the film and its plot should be reviewed by a committee of renowned historians, film personalities, and representatives of society at large.<br />
Members of BJP wrote to the Chief Election Commissioner seeking a ban on the release of the film in Gujarat in the wake of the assembly elections in the state. Expressing concern about distortion of history in the movie, the BJP leaders stated that CBFC should only release the film after the &#39;objectionable&#39; scenes are removed.&nbsp;<br />

In Noida,<strong> Uttar Pradesh</strong>, members of the Karni Sena had vandalised a cinema hall for screening the trailer of the film earlier this month. The UP Home Minister had even written a letter to the Censor board to consider the sentiments of the people before certifying the film. They feared if the film released it would affect the peace and harmony in the state. Now CM Yogi Adityanath has stated that the film will be not be screened in the state if the desired cuts are not made. &quot;Sentiments of the people of the state should not be hurt,&quot; reiterated Yogi.<br />

<p>In <strong>Madhya Pradesh</strong>, the state CM Shivraj Singh Chouhan declared a ban on the film and stated that the decision was taken after he received requests from various Rajput groups appealing for a ban on the film&#39;s release.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Punjab and Jammu and Kashmir have also expressed concern over the film&#39;s content. <strong>Punjab</strong> Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh has said, &quot;Nobody will accept the distortion of history and those who are protesting are rightly doing so.&quot;&nbsp;</p>

<p>Meanwhile, National Conference leader Devender Singh Rana has also written to<strong> Jammu and Kashmir </strong>Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti asking her not to allow the release of the film until its contents have been verified.</p>

<p>In Coimbatore, <strong>Tamil Nadu</strong>, members of the Karni Sena staged a protest a few days back demanding a ban on the film&#39;s release in the state as they alleged the film distorted history.</p>

<p>Rajput communities in <strong>Bihar </strong>too have protested against the film.&nbsp; News of protest from Patna, Bhagalpur and Supaul have been reported.&nbsp;Bihar minister Jay Kumar Singh and BJP MLA Gayanu Singh, both from Rajput community, have extended their support&nbsp; to the protestors.</p>

<p>Echoing Ms. Banerjee&#39;s sentiments, the <strong>Karnataka </strong>government on Tuesday declared its support to the film. The film&#39;s leading lady Deepika Padukone belongs to the state and the government has stepped up security for Padukone&#39;s parents who reside in Bangalore. Chief Minister Siddaramaiah asked his Haryana counterpart Manohar Lal Khattar to take stringent action against those threatening Padukone for her role in the film.</p>

Sanjay Leela Bhansali perhaps could have never imagined that his magnum opus Padmavati would divide an entire country with contrasting opinions. Right from the time the filming of Padmavati began, there have been agitations around the film. In January Rajput Karni Sena, stormed the sets of the film, thrashed the director and vandalised the sets. While assurance from Bhansali productions came soon after that the film did not distort history or disrespect Rajput history in any manner, opposition against the film continued to grow. Things took an ugly turn when the film's trailer released in October as protestors gained steam. While earlier the group had objected to an alleged dream sequence between Rani Padmavati and Alauddin Khilji - which the makers assured did not exist- later the protestors claimed that the film distorted history. The protests in the past few weeks have gained momentum after various state governments also raised objection towards the film. While the release of the film has been deferred- it was earlier scheduled to release on December 1- many of the states have declared a ban on the film's screening. Here is a quick look at which of the states have opposed to The protests began in Rajasthan back in January when Rajput Karni Sena vandalised the film's set. Later in September, Karni Sena's Lokendra Singh Kalvi reiterates that his organisation will oppose the film's screening if facts are "distorted". Earlier in November, protest by the Karni Sena against the film picked up the pace in Rajasthan with a complete bandh observed in Chittorgarh. Now, the state CM Vasundhara Raje has stated that the film will not be released in the state until changes in the film are made.The Chief Minister had suggested that the film and its plot should be reviewed by a committee of renowned historians, film personalities, and representatives of society at large. Members of BJP wrote to the Chief Election Commissioner seeking a ban on the release of the film in Gujarat in the wake of the assembly elections in the state. Expressing concern about distortion of history in the movie, the BJP leaders stated that CBFC should only release the film after the 'objectionable' scenes are removed. In Noida, Uttar Pradesh, members of the Karni Sena had vandalised a cinema hall for screening the trailer of the film earlier this month. The UP Home Minister had even written a letter to the Censor board to consider the sentiments of the people before certifying the film. They feared if the film released it would affect the peace and harmony in the state. Now CM Yogi Adityanath has stated that the film will be not be screened in the state if the desired cuts are not made. "Sentiments of the people of the state should not be hurt," reiterated Yogi. Uttar Pradesh chief minister said his government's view on the Padmawati row has already been conveyed to India's information and Broadcasting minister Smriti Irani. (ANI) × In Madhya Pradesh, the state CM Shivraj Singh Chouhan declared a ban on the film and stated that the decision was taken after he received requests from various Rajput groups appealing for a ban on the film's release. Punjab and Jammu and Kashmir have also expressed concern over the film's content. Punjab Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh has said, "Nobody will accept the distortion of history and those who are protesting are rightly doing so." Meanwhile, National Conference leader Devender Singh Rana has also written to Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti asking her not to allow the release of the film until its contents have been verified. In Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu, members of the Karni Sena staged a protest a few days back demanding a ban on the film's release in the state as they alleged the film distorted history. Rajput communities in Bihar too have protested against the film. News of protest from Patna, Bhagalpur and Supaul have been reported. Bihar minister Jay Kumar Singh and BJP MLA Gayanu Singh, both from Rajput community, have extended their support to the protestors.
