Johnny Depp`s ex-wife, Amber Heard, will return to the witness stand on Monday in a defamation trial filled with graphic allegations of physical and emotional abuse from both sides.

Jurors in the case have listened to explicit recordings of the couple`s arguments and testimony about a severed finger, feces in a bed and an alleged sexual assault with a bottle.

Depp, 58, is suing Heard, 36, for $50 million, saying she defamed him when she claimed she was a victim of domestic abuse. Heard has counter-sued for $100 million, arguing Depp smeared her by calling her a liar.

The 'Pirates of the Caribbean'&nbsp;star testified that he never hit Heard and argued that she was the abuser in their relationship. In early 2015 shortly after their wedding, Heard threw a vodka bottle that cut off the top of Depp`s right middle finger, he said.

In April 2016, Depp said, feces were found in the couple`s bed. One of his security guards testified that Heard told him the feces were left there as a "horrible practical joke gone wrong."

Heard, best known for her role in "Aquaman," has denied severing Depp`s finger and said she only hit him to defend herself or her sister. In tearful testimony about that night, she said Depp assaulted her by inserting a liquor bottle in her vagina while he threatened to kill her.

Heard has not yet been cross-examined by Depp`s lawyers.

The legal case hinges on a December 2018 opinion piece Heard authored in the Washington Post. The article never mentioned Depp by name, but his lawyer told jurors it was clear Heard was referencing him. The couple`s divorce was finalized in 2017 after less than two years of marriage.

Depp, once among Hollywood`s biggest stars, said Heard`s allegations cost him "everything." A new "Pirates" movie was put on hold, and Depp was replaced in the "Fantastic Beasts" film franchise, a "Harry Potter" spinoff.

Heard`s attorneys have argued that she told the truth and that her opinion was protected free speech under the U.S. Constitution`s First Amendment.

Closing arguments are scheduled for May 27.

Less than two years ago, Depp lost a libel case against the Sun, a British tabloid that labeled him a 'wife-beater.'&nbsp;A London High Court judge ruled he had repeatedly assaulted Heard.

Depp`s lawyers filed the case in Fairfax County, Virginia, because the Washington Post is printed there. The newspaper is not a defendant.

Johnny Depp defamation trial resumes Monday with ex-wife Amber Heard on stand

Tom Hardy's got some loyal fans globally.&nbsp;

The Hollywood star's sequel to 'Venom' (2018), 'Venom: Let There Be Carnage', is reportedly set to cross making over $200 million at the American box office this weekend. Thus, becoming the second film to achieve this feat in the pandemic era after 'Shang-Chi and The Legend of The Ten Rings', reports claim.

On Friday alone, the film raked in $199.7 million--with global collection being $427.3 million--and is expected to cross another $1 million on its home turf, becoming only the second movie to hit the $200-million mark amid Covid-19.&nbsp;

'Venom: Let There Be Carnage' was released by Sony Pictures.&nbsp;

Yet another movie doing phenomenally well at the box office is Marvel Studios' 'Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings', with a total earning of $224.2 million in North America (approx, as per reports).&nbsp;

Interestingly, both 'Shang-Chi' and 'Venom 2' got theaters-only releases, thereby clearly indicating that a theatre-first release is still the only sure-shot way to bring in the big bucks.

"There's a growing realization that the exclusive theatrical window works. It's not speculation anymore; it's fact. The only thing that's surprising is that it's surprising to people," Tom Rothman, Sony Motion Picture Group CEO, had previously told a news portal.&nbsp;

It is worth noting that Sony Pictures changed the release date of 'Venom 2' following the success of 'Shang-Chi' successful run at the box office in its opening weekend in September, which had surpassed all box-office predictions and went on to become the second-best debut of the pandemic. The first one being Scarlett Johansson's hybrid release, 'Black Widow'.&nbsp;

Tom Hardy-led 'Venom: Let There Be Carnage'&nbsp;marked its own record as well: bringing in &nbsp;$90.1 million in its opening weekend, the biggest opening since the start of the pandemic era.

A glammed up, post teen Britney Spears turns around with mischief in her eyes—teasing the crowd; a classic popstar move—while a sold-out stadium chants her name in unison: ‘Britney! Britney! Britney!’ before the fireworks, and of course, her killer moves take over. Turning back in time, to those early 2000s, through Erin Lee Carr’s introductory montage to ‘Britney Vs. Spears’, was one calculated gesture that guaranteed goosebumps. For Britney fans, and for those who couldn’t see her meteoric rise in the music world.&nbsp;

Carr’s motive in this 93-minute-long documentary is loud and clear: cut through the chase and address the elephant in the room—Jamie Spears and his systematic web of callousness and control, allegedly. Of late, reports of this Netflix offering being an exposé of sorts have been keeping the rumourville buzzing. Truth be told: barring a few customary Wikipedia-ish entries at the beginning, Carr does provide an insight into the shockingly lonely world of the biggest pop star America has ever produced. Each claim, outrageous. Each speaker substantiating that claim, appalled.&nbsp;

‘Britney Vs. Spears’ is essentially a passion project of two women who care deeply about Britney and the patriarchal hangover that has seemingly crippled most of her adult life. Lovers, lawyers, friends who helped, friends who couldn’t... everyone's jumped&nbsp;in to tell their version of what has been a regular occurrence inside the twisted world of Jamie Spears and the famous daughter he has been ripping off of millions; again, allegedly. And, some of the details are heartbreaking—like that one time Britney had to seek permission to buy toys for her kids, her monthly allowance of 8000 USD despite the forced-upon world tours and concerts, and a simple 30-minute drive being labelled as ‘buying independence’. There are questions, and then there are counter questions. Statements like “I didn’t do it,” or “show me a public document with my signature on it” were thrown in every five seconds.&nbsp;

Sure, <a href="https://www.wionews.com/entertainment/britney-spears-lawyer-says-dad-crossed-unfathomable-lines-by-monitoring-her-calls-416487">‘Britney Vs. Spears’</a> is combative, but not unswayed.&nbsp;

Call it youthful exuberance or the trauma that we now know she had endured at&nbsp;the hands of her folks, Britney did have her fair share of episodes and reported spats. Most of it is not shown in the documentary (the ‘head shave’ is missing, too), including the recent accusation by her staffers, however untrue.&nbsp;

Having said that, Carr and a certain journalist from a musically inclined magazine do unearth damning evidence against the outgoing conservator—hopefully—and just for that, kudos!&nbsp;

To perform 248 shows a year—adding some more to the calendar, not by choice, of course!—one has to be pretty incredible at what they do. But, then again, Britney Spears is no ordinary girl. While watching this slightly tainted yet audacious documentary—with strong feminist undertones—a famous quote by Jim Carrey comes&nbsp;to mind, “I think everybody should get rich and famous and do everything they ever dreamed of so they can see that it's not the answer.” This real-life saga is a classic instance of that belief.&nbsp;

Britney Vs Spears review: A lonely princess in her hellish castle

If you were watching television in America in the 1970s and ’80s — the old three-network days that now seem as distant as the horse-and-buggy era — you could hardly miss Jim and Tammy Faye Bakker. Upbeat evangelists with the Upper Midwest in their voices, they helped expand Christian broadcasting from a niche into an empire via their PTL satellite network.

Even if you missed them in their prime, you couldn’t avoid the spectacle of their downfall — an end-of-the-'80s tabloid scandal involving adultery, hypocrisy and financial shenanigans. In 1989, Jim Bakker was convicted of fraud and sentenced to federal prison. His wife (who had divorced him a few years later) was razzed by talk-show hosts and stand-up comedians across the land for her gaudy makeup, her big hair and her full-throated singing voice.
“The Eyes of Tammy Faye,” directed by Michael Showalter from a script by Abe Sylvia, tells this story dutifully, following the familiar showbiz biopic sequence of rise, ruin and redemption. We start out in Eisenhower-era Minnesota, where Tammy Faye (<a href="https://www.wionews.com/entertainment/hollywood/news-toronto-film-festival-jessica-chastain-benedict-cumberbatch-win-big-complete-winners-list-414108">Jessica Chastain</a>) grows up in the shadow of a pious, unsmiling mother (Cherry Jones). When she meets Jim Bakker (<a href="https://www.wionews.com/entertainment/hollywood/news-andrew-garfield-on-mothers-death-everything-has-changed-nothing-can-prepare-you-for-that-kind-of-cataclysm-413778">Andrew Garfield</a>) at Bible college, it seems like a providential match.
Jim preaches a version of the prosperity gospel, insisting to his flock that God wants them to be rich. This optimism and the worldly ambition that comes with it appeal to Tammy. A natural performer onstage (and later, on camera), she brings maternal warmth, wholesome sex appeal and relentless good cheer to their itinerant ministry. And puppets, too.

Showalter’s film shares its title and its plot with a 2000 documentary by Fenton Bailey and Randy Barbato, and also sympathy for its subject. Tammy Faye (who died in 2007) may have been an over-the-top spendthrift and an exhausting media personality, but she was also, these movies insist, sincere in her faith and generous in her view of humanity. Unlike the Revs. Jerry Falwell (Vincent D’Onofrio) and Pat Robertson (Gabriel Olds), powerful allies of her husband, she resisted mixing religion and politics, and defied their anti-feminist, anti-gay, culture-war ideology.
The documentary version, which includes voice-over narration by RuPaul, understands Tammy Faye as a camp figure, earning both sympathy and ridicule, and emerging with a measure of dignity intact. Showalter and his cast lack the style and the nerve to convey either the wildness of the character and her milieu or the pathos of her story.

&nbsp;

The narrative beats — Tammy Faye’s temptation (in the presence of a hunky record producer played by Mark Wystrach), Jim’s betrayal, Falwell’s treachery — seem almost generic. The performances, while hardly subtle, feel smaller than life. Garfield mugs and emotes with sketch-comedy abandon, and while Chastain tries for more depth and nuance, she is trapped by a literal-minded script and overwhelmed by hair, makeup and garish period costumes.
The Bakkers were many things to many people: appalling, inspiring, laughable, sad. This movie succeeds in making them dull.

If you were watching television in America in the 1970s and ’80s — the old three-network days that now seem as distant as the horse-and-buggy era — you could hardly miss Jim and Tammy Faye Bakker.

‘The Eyes of Tammy Faye’ Review: Fall from grace

"Things are easier when you don't care. Nobody gets hurt," moustache man Otis (Asa Butterfield) opines. Remember it. Cherish that line. For the rest of 'Sex Education 3' is laden with, well, sex scenes and nudity Moordale monsters embrace in the wackiest way imaginable. Just the opening sequence alone has about 15-odd couples indulging in hardcore sex: in cars, abandoned toilets (a recurring theme!) and even their parents' bedroom. To think the makers of this Netflix-nurtured show would tame it down over time would be foolish, no?

The conflict this season comes in an&nbsp;unexpected form, though. The (erotica) musical fiasco by Lily (Tanya Reynolds) in season 2 led to the exit of their stern headmaster Mr. Groff (Alistair Petrie), and now a new commander-in-chief takes over: a younger, and sharply dressed Hope (Jemima Kirke). Ironically, there's nothing hopeful about her entry into Moordale. As glimpses of it is already shown in the trailer itself, Hope advocates primitive values, and is blatantly traditionalist.&nbsp;

Big changes happen in little moments, or so the creators reckon. In a commendable move, through a simple scene, Laurie Nunn shows subtle racism that's rampant almost everywhere in the world: two boys wait outside the headmistress' office--one underdog and another, overachiever. Hope mistakes the underdog for the Head Boy. The other student was Black.

Sex Education's secret weapon is, in fact, irony--of time, place and situation. And staying true to its tried-and-tested tropes, the show takes its outrageous yet likeable elements notches higher without being too garish or&nbsp;in-your-face about it. Flawed little humans? Check. Informative interactions around sex and sexuality? Check. Intense moments of grief and heartache? Check.&nbsp;

To add to that, Netflix and Nunn have pulled every trick from&nbsp;the coming-of-age/erotica book out for their audience to feel satiated and for them, to continue enjoying their uninterrupted success on the streaming site. They win big, figuratively. Timed at almost an hour per episode (and even more, in some cases), this eight-part extension of the original Moordale saga doesn't drain you out or get sluggish at any given point. The surprise elements at regular intervals, sizzling chemistry between personable characters, the cliffhangers...&nbsp;everything's been retained and kept intact by the creators.&nbsp;

If anything, 'Sex Education 3' paves the path for its millions of viewers to have an open-mind about bigger, more relevant topics: like honoring non-binary individuals, geriatric pregnancy, and, of course, the moral conundrums of Young Adult (YA) lives.&nbsp;

Speaking of life and characters, Otis is what&nbsp;Otis does. And, after being habituated to this whack job of a character's nuanced depiction by Asa Butterfield, we don't know if the actor&nbsp;has performed better or poorly--Otis is second nature to him, anyway. <a href="https://www.wionews.com/photos/margot-robbie-sarah-paulson-javier-bardem-celebs-lookalike-colleagues-who-will-leave-you-confused-401563">Emma Mackey</a>, as Maeve, is still an unabashed nihilist, and 'sweet, sweet' Aimee (Aimee Lou Wood) never fails to amuse us with her naivety. Upbeat-y little man Eric Effiong (Ncuti Gatwa) yet again brings in the spunk and sparkle in 'Sex Education' season 3, and his relationship with Adam (Connor Swindells) undergoes an ocean of change. Pretty boy Jackson Marchetti (Kedar Williams-Stirling) is still discovering himself and not succumbing to external pressure (meaning, his moms) and his relationship with Viv (Chinenye Ezeudu) may or may not have soiled.&nbsp;

All-in-all, frankly, 'Sex Education 3' has an 'American Pie' vibe to it, with gentle reminders of&nbsp;high-school/ teenage dramas we have seen over the years. But, the series sure knows how to capitalize&nbsp;on its relatable nature and not get too cocky about it. Some watch 'Sex Education' for that shocker of a title, and some for sex. We watch it for those who live and breathe the story--hurt, bruised, but marching on regardless. One sex lesson at a time.&nbsp;

Sex Education 3 review: Wilder sexual urges, bolder tropes this time round

“There were all these lists of who's the favourite character on the show or who was the best-looking character, and I was always the ugliest, the least attractive,” Dev Patel, BAFTA-winning actor (for ‘Lion’) said in a recent interview.

“There were all these lists of who's the favourite character on the show or who was the best-looking character, and I was always the ugliest, the least attractive,” Dev Patel, BAFTA-winning actor (for ‘Lion’) said in a recent interview. However—now basking in the glory of his critically acclaimed film ‘The Green Knight’, set to release in India on August 27—those days of judgement over his looks seem to be a thing of the past. And he agrees, hopefully. In an exclusive interview with WION, the British actor talks about losing himself in the process of getting the nuances of Sir Gawain—his character in ‘The Green Knight’—right, how director David Lowery’s vision was of paramount importance to the script and he ‘trusted’ it completely, and why there’s a little bit of him in this modern retelling of Sir Gawain’s story. Excerpts from the interview: ‘I could draw a lot of parallels with my journey in this industry; being ambitious and trying to balance my life’ For Patel, preparing for the role meant letting David Lowery (‘The Old Man & the Gun’, ‘A Ghost Story’) take charge of how he would portray Sir Gawain on screen, and he went with it with utmost faith. “For me in a way, that was really David's process you mine was a process of real submission and trust in him as a as the visionary that he is. But you could see what the way he was approaching the sets and the costumes that kind of like was cranked ever so slightly differently, you know, so there was a familiarity to the world, but also, it kind of had a kind of slightly more modern composition to the way he was capturing this stuff, and how we were able to move and talk and there was a looseness to it, that I was like, Wow, this is awesome!” Dev Patel tells us. “You know, I split it, particularly for me in the way I was kind of talking, I was kind of throwing it away, like I would in a very modern piece I wasn't, you know, putting as much weight on the words. And I asked what I spoke to him about, it's like, how should we do this? How do I do and he's like, no, we're just kind of trying to exist and bring as much truth as possible. And it's a testament to him, he's kind of managed to strike this balance, I think a lot of story and tales around this era, they focus on the clashing of swords, or whatever that is, you know, but this is focusing on the more psychological journey aspects of the story. In a way, it's, it's far more complex in it, and it really does more justice to the complexities of this poem, and kind of the questioning of fate and ambition and the chivalry code of the time. You know, particularly for me, as a young actor, you know, I could draw a lot of parallels with my, you know, my journey in this industry, and, you know, being ambitious and trying to balance my life and, and, you know, the ego and masculinity, all of that stuff, you know, I could see all the threads in,” says the actor about his part in getting the nuances of his character right. With a 7.5 IMDb rating and 88 per cent on Rotten Tomatoes, Dev Patel seems to have gotten it right. ‘I was trembling on my horse, I was cold and wet and damp; it was a physical process’ Dev Patel’s penchant for perfection is palpable, and, ‘The Green Knight’ would give us a glimpse of that, again. When asked if the horses, weaponry and the overall feel on the set contributed to his performance, Patel was quick to add, “Completely! I mean, they extends we went to, you know, David, you know, we have the entire crew trudging in valleys, through streams and rivers, and when making provides police systems to get camera equipment up, and like, you know, just to get the shot, but it really, I said, every frame is a painting in this film, you look at it, and it's just like, there was never a moment where I was, I didn't even have a great scene partner and you know, Joel (Edgerton), and all the rest of the team or you're just in this costume, and it makes you sit differently stand differently.” But, the British actor—all of 31 now—sees certain facets of his persona, his own journey as a young man in Hollywood, in David Lowery’s ‘The Green Knight’. He shares with WION, before wrapping up. “A lot of this is about a young man romanticizing this knightly quest, and then all of a sudden, very quickly realizing how brutal nature can be and how humbling he gets humbled by it, his ego at the start of the film is totally bashed from him very quickly. And I felt that I was trembling you know, on my horse, I was cold and wet and damp and it was a physical process and you know, David's films really explored time in a beautiful way. And as a performer you know, you rarely get to feel time you know, in scenes because it you know, there's a exposition and there's an editor's hands that really comes in but and this was the way we shot this that David kind of sits and lets the scene really play out sometimes, you know, really just puts you in a spot and like, Is that okay? Now you try and get out of the situation. Your hands and legs are tight.”

Exclusive! Dev Patel: ‘The Green Knight’ embodies my own journey in Hollywood

After ‘Luke Cage’ famed actor Mike Jolter joined the star cast of Lionsgate’s upcoming thriller, ‘The Plane’—in which Gerard Butler and Victoria’s secret model Kelly gale play important roles—it has now been confirmed that Yoson An is the latest addition to the already stellar star cast.

Sophia Bush, ‘One Tree Hill’ star, gets engaged

When strong, powerful women sashay along in Dior dresses, with hopelessly expensive wine in hand while between frank conversations about their sexually liberated selves—‘Pack my vibrator!’—you are subconsciously trained to think: ‘Keeping Up With The Kardashians’! But the CEO of Elite World Group, Julia Haart, one of the biggest model management companies around, is no former-socialite-turned-reality television star and didn’t know the Hiltons of Hollywood, either. In her own words, an education-less Haart was married into a fundamentalist Jewish family at a tender age, to a husband she didn’t love, and with four kids, she eventually leaves behind her then family home to make something of herself: at 43!&nbsp;

Eight years later, Julia Haart becomes the CEO of a multi-subsidiary million-dollar brand. ‘My Unorthodox Life’ is a dive deep into Haart’s life circa 2020-21, with occasional rewind backs to how she shunned her past rigged with ‘too many rules’ and the journey she wishes to take with her new partner Silvio Scaglia.&nbsp;
Batsheva—the eldest of four—has one foot in her orthodox community and the other, in the modern chasm her mother introduces her to. One sequence in particular encapsulates the 27 YO’s dilemma: a very well-groomed Batsheva can be seen arguing with her stringent yet affable husband Ben to let her wear pants, forbidden in their religion. The stark contrast between Haart Sr.’s world and that of Ben’s is palpable. Her mother urges her to be bold and shatter the self-imposed boundaries of her older self—and even leave her husband—Bat (as she is lovingly called) refuses both. The dust from the past is yet to settle in here, we reckon.&nbsp;

Perhaps the most ‘out there’ character is the Standford-tutee Miriam Haart. In ‘My Unorthodox Life’, Miriam, 20, and the second youngest in the family, is bi-sexual, a first for many around her, and has no qualms about displaying her most intimate moments on camera, with a crew inside. She has been away from Monsey, New York—a safe haven for fundamentalist Jews, they claim—far too long to care, her mother reasons… or justifies? Juggling Stanford homework and a plethora of romantic interests (and Momma’s ‘yes ma’am’ duties) unabashedly is Miriam’s forte. Sass sans drama seems to be this Gen Z’s aesthetic.

The grips of cultural conditioning seem to be the tightest around Haart boys (also, Hendler from their father’s side) Shlomo and Aron. At 24, Shlomo is still immune to the appeals of female touch. “Oh! We were just thinking about you,” his sister Bat exclaims. “Why? Were you watching ‘The 40-Year-Old Virgin’?” he jokes. The tug of war between the two boys—in all fairness, Shlomo slightly more contemporary than his 14 YO brother Aron—and the rest of the family to drag them out of their supposed misery is part heartbreaking and part funny. Yet, the collective love these men have for what their mother stands up for—both good and the crass—is what makes them real (by reality TV standards).

Robert Brotherton’s the Chief Operating Officer of Elite and Julia’s best friend of five years. If Julia and the other women shepherd in the spices in right amount for the reality show to be a hit on Netflix (it’s already at Number 2 in Lebanon we hear), then Robert’s raunchy jokes and chirpy demeanor gives it a smooth landing. Touché!

The fundamentalist Judaism that Julia goes gung-ho about is deprived of a fair, eagle view in ‘My Unorthodox Life’. We do not question the ‘why’; just demand a ‘how’.&nbsp;

A while back, a similar-titled-but-not-similar-fashioned miniseries ‘Unorthodox’ had popped up on Netflix where a Hasidic Jewish woman in Brooklyn, Esther (played by a fantastic Shira Haas), brought forward the sense (and level) of patriarchal mindset this community exhibits. The in-depth research—adapted from a book, ‘Unorthodox: The Scandalous Rejection of My Hasidic Roots’—around the central theme and its various facets—the clothes, Yiddish language, the whole charade—took that series notches higher by sheer means of its crisp, matter-of-factly content. This series is more noise and less smell.

&nbsp;
Julia Haart’s hedonistic persona, coupled with her very luxurious lifestyle and a penchant for grandiosity, makes ‘My Unorthodox Life’ an entertaining extravaganza. But, given the fact that she has turned her life had a superhero-esque U turn and rmoved herself from a setting that is plagued with oppression, it is criminal that Julia Haart didn’t harp on that.&nbsp;

Could the personable Haarts be the new queens of reality TV—now that the Kardashians have officially retired—no! Is the intent there? Hell, yes! Julia Haart may be the matriarch of a Rabbi-free household now, sitting pretty in her throne trying to fight ‘nepotism’ debates around her: ahem! But no one can discredit her struggles and the subsequent rise—to the very top! And, to that, we say, “shalom shalom!” &nbsp;

Hollywood actress Judy Greer will play the female lead in an independent feature film, ‘LA Bound’, claim reports.&nbsp;

The film is based on a small-town high school football star and how he ruins his college scholarship to shift base to Los Angeles to become an actor, and pay tribute to his late sister’s passion for creative arts.&nbsp;

Hollywood actor William Smith, who has played the roles of bikers, brawlers, cowboys and tough guys in films and television shows like ‘Laredo’, ‘Rich Man, Poor Man’ and ‘Any Which Way You Can’ has died at the age of 88.&nbsp;

The actor’s wife, Joanne Cervelli Smith, said he died on Monday at the Motion Picture &amp; Television Country House and Hospital in the Woodland Hills section of Los Angeles. However, she declined to reveal the cause of death.&nbsp;

Smith, who has 300-odd acting jobs to his credit, was a popular face in the film and television industry in the 1960s, 70s and 80s. He was popular for his chiseled face, well-groomed moustache and bulging biceps. &nbsp;

He played the role of bare-knuckle boxer Jack Wilson, who tussled with Clint Eastwood in an epic brawl in ‘Any Which Way You Can’, one of the highest-grossing movies of 1980. “It has to be one of the longest two-man fights ever done on film without doubles,” Smith had said in an interview for the 2014 book ‘Tales From the Cult Film Trenches’.&nbsp;

The actor played Texas Ranger Joe Riley in both the seasons of NBC’s western series ‘Laredo’ from 1965 to 1967. He then went on to play Anthony Falconetti, the arch rival of the central family in the 1976 ABC miniseries ‘Pich Man, Poor Man’ and had also returned for its sequel. William Smith took on the role of Detective James ‘Kimo’ Carew in the final season of the original ‘Hawaii Five-O’ on CBS in 1979 and 1980.&nbsp;

Born in Columbia, Smith started his acting career at the tender age of eight and played small, uncredited roles in the 1940s films that included ‘The Ghost of Frankenstein’ and ‘A Tree Grows in Brooklyn’.&nbsp;

Smith then would become an elite discus thrower at UCLA, a martial-arts black belt and a champion arm-wrestler.
The actor had also served in the Korean War and took up small parts in television shows throughout 1950s before landing a regular role as a police sergeant in the 1961 ABC series ‘The Asphalt Jungle’. Another on-screen brawl that Smith would be remembered for was with Rod Taylor as a bodybuilder in the 1970 film ‘Darker Than Amber’. He would also play Arnold Schwarzenegger's father in 1982-released ‘Conan the Barbarian’ after being considered for the titular role, and a Soviet general in 1984's ‘Red Dawn’.

William Smith is survived by his wife of 31 years and two children: a son named William E. Smith III and a daughter named Sherri Anne Cervelli.&nbsp;

Top 5 Hollywood news today: Disney holds premiere of 'Cruella', Demi Lovato comes out as non-binary

Diane Keaton and 'Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom'&nbsp;star Taylour Paigeare set to star in a romantic comedy as per reports.

According to Deadline,&nbsp;an independent romantic comedy is coming together titled 'Mack and Rita'&nbsp;which will be produced by Alex Saks. Katie Aselton Duplass is said to be directing the film.

As per the concept description, the comedy is billed as being in the spirit of Big. Mackenzie Martin is tired of doing all the things she has to do to keep up and get ahead in her 30’s. Since she was a little girl, raised by her Grammie Martin, her deepest wish has been to be just like her Grammie, comfortable in her own skin, great at saying “no” and largely unburdened by what other people think of her. Not to mention Mack has always loved a good chunky sweater and being in bed by 8 pm. While at her best friend’s bachelorette in Palm Springs, Mack stumbles into a sound bath regression pod and comes out as a 70-year-old woman, who she names her Aunt Rita. But Mack’s transformation really has nothing to do with her exterior body and Mack she learns that the reality of old age isn’t quite what she imagined. It turns out that being comfortable in your own skin isn’t a given at 70, or any age, really, because self-acceptance comes from within and only through actually living.

Now, according to Sky News, its reported that Channel One is teaming up with Russian space agency Roscosmos for the film ‘Challenge,’ which is aiming send an actress to space for a shoot at the ISS in October 2021.

Matthew McConaughey and Russell Brand got together for a podcast this weekend and it did not go as planned as they took on Hollywood celebrities for their political views.&nbsp;

Condemning the perceived hypocrisy according to them of Hollywood celebs, Matthew McConaughey and Russell Brand attacked those in the Hollywood entertainment industry who are urging Donald Trump supporters to passively give up on hope of overturning the election results.

Russell Brand asked Matthew McConaughey whether he had noticed a “condemnation and criticism of ordinary working people” by liberal Hollywood as he said, “[There is] a kind of offhandedness, like, ‘Oh, they’re dumb, they’re voting for Brexit, they’re voting for Trump.’ I don’t like it, and I don’t like to hear it.”

Matthew McConaughey agreed and said, “There are a lot [of people] on that illiberal left that absolutely condescend, patronize, and are arrogant towards the other 50 percent.”

They also talked about the 2016 election. Matthew McConaughey told Russell Brand, “I’m sure you saw it in our industry when Trump was voted in four years ago, they were in denial that was real. Some of them were in absolute denial.”

“[Now] it looks like Biden’s our guy. Now you’ve got the right that’s in denial, cause their side has fake news. And I understand, they’ve been fed fake news. No one knows what the hell to believe, right? So they’re putting down their last bastion of defense,’ McConaughey said.

The plight of Kaavan -- an overweight, 35-year-old bull elephant -- has drawn international condemnation and highlighted the woeful state of Islamabad's zoo, where conditions are so bad a judge in May ordered all the animals to be moved.

A team of vets and experts from Four Paws, an Austria-based animal welfare group, has spent months working with Kaavan to get him ready for the journey to Cambodia.

The Weeknd had <a href="https://www.wionews.com/entertainment/the-weeknd-calls-the-grammys-corrupt-recording-academy-responds-345211">taken his fight to Twitter</a> as he wrote, "The Grammys remain corrupt. You owe me, my fans and the industry transparency..." The singer had recently been receiving a lot of praise for his most recent album ‘After Hours’ that many thought would earn him a nod.&nbsp;

After this tweet, Recording Academy chief Harvey Mason Jr. responded to The Weeknd's claims and expressed that he was also surprised and "can empathize with what he’s feeling." "His music this year was excellent, and his contributions to the music community and broader world are worthy of everyone’s admiration. We were thrilled when we found out he would be performing at the upcoming Super Bowl and we would have loved to have him also perform on the Grammy stage the weekend before," Mason Jr. said.

He also added, "To be clear, voting in all categories ended well before The Weeknd’s performance at the Super Bowl was announced, so in no way could it have affected the nomination process. All Grammy nominees are recognized by the voting body for their excellence, and we congratulate them all."

In response, The Weeknd said that he had been planning his Grammy performance "for weeks" before learning he received zero nominations.

He said, "Collaboratively planning a performance for weeks to not being invited? In my opinion zero nominations = you’re not invited!"&nbsp;
