<p>Industry bible Women's Wear Daily earlier on Wednesday said Michele was quitting after being asked to orchestrate a creative revamp to restore the brand's lustre.</p>

<p>With his bookish chic looks and vintage mashups that harkened back to the 1970s and 80s, Michele helped turn the once-flagging house into a white-hot success, drawing in a new generation of fans with his anti-establishment veneer.</p>

<p>Michele also joined a handful of other designers by announcing in 2021 that the number of annual shows would be slashed from five to just two, saying that "clothes should have a longer life" and that his future collections would be "seasonless".</p>

<p>The CEO of BitPay, Stephen Pair, stated in a statement, “Because our luxury merchant partners’ clients requested it, we introduced ApeCoin and Euro Coin. We gave them what they requested.”</p>

<p>ApeCoin further added to the frenzy after Gucci made its announcement by tweeting, “Excited to announce that @Gucci will become the first big brand to allow customers to pay for items in-store using ApeCoin, via @BitPay.”</p>

<p>Gucci’s cryptocurrency activities appear to have received great approval thus far from the BAYC community. Leaky 'sun umbrellas' worth $1642: Adidas, Gucci slammed in China

<p>The word metaverse, a combination of the prefix ''meta'' meaning beyond, and ''stem'' meaning the universe is used to describe a virtual space within a digital environment.</p>

<p>LVMH's head Bernard Arnault said his business is eyeing to expand into the digital metaverse.</p>

<p>That was the in-your-face message at Gucci's runway show Friday at Milan Fashion Week, where one could be excused for thinking they'd showed up at the wrong show.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Instead of Gucci's decades-old world-famous stripe logo in green and red, suddenly guests at the show saw Adidas' three white stripes everywhere -- on bodices, baseball caps and running down the length of the male and female models' arms and thighs.</p>

<p>And if the hit-them-over-the-head-hard branding message still hadn't sunk in, the name "Gucci" underneath Adidas' trefoil logo was also added to the mix.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Newsflash: Gucci and Adidas are collaborating. In a short statement, Adidas confirmed the joining of forces, saying the union "combines the heritage and the creative codes of both brands".</p>

<p>The mutual admiration society between the luxury apparel and sneaker brands left some enthused, and others puzzled, with images of unlikely pairings (avocado and watermelon anyone?) and head-scratching memes appearing on Twitter shortly after the show.&nbsp;</p>

<p>In the front row, there was Serena Williams and Rihanna, too -- pregnant, in a black latex bra with a lavender fur and sparkly Cleopatra-style headdress.&nbsp;</p>

<p>But back to the collaboration.&nbsp;Stripes were on capes, stripes were on blazers, stripes were on gloves, berets and more.&nbsp; A "Little House on the Prairie"-like a dress with puffy sleeves and long ruffle skirt had stripes running down the bodice, sleeves, hem and high frilly collar. <p>Luxury label Gucci found itself becoming the talk of town among Indian fans as it listed a bizarre price for a clothing item on its official website.&nbsp;</p>

<p>We are talking about a fancy kurta that Gucci is selling on its website that they priced at an exorbitant $3,500, roughly translating to Rs 2.5 lakh. Called the “organic linen kaftan” with floral embroidery, the kurta is made in Italy. The linen kaftan has a neck opening with a self-tie tassle.</p>

<p>While they can call it whatever they want, we Indians know it's a linen kurta.&nbsp;</p>

<p>The clothing piece, also, did not sit well with desi fans of Gucci. They took to Twitter and were seen wondering who was buying a kurta for such a huge price.&nbsp;</p>

<p>"Gucci selling an Indian kurta for 2.5 lakhs ? I'll get the same thing for 500 bucks," wrote one Twitter user. Another wrote, “Gucci kurta for $3500?! I can have Ashokbhai make this back home for 500 rupees Face with tears of joy”</p>

<p>"More than one million pieces of content were removed from&nbsp;Facebook&nbsp;and Instagram in the first half of 2020, based on thousands of reports of counterfeit content from brand owners, including&nbsp;Gucci," the statement said.</p>

Gucci joins Alibaba's luxury e-commerce site to woo Chinese consumers

<p>It’s an upside world for luxury brand Gucci as they launch a new glamorous head-turner in their glassware range. They call it the “inverted cat eye sunglasses”.&nbsp;</p>

<p>In what has caught the fancy of many who follow Gucci’s updates on social media, the price of the sunglasses will also give you a mini jolt as it costs&nbsp;$755 (Rs 55, 672).</p>

<p>Calling the sunglasses “an unconventional take on the ’50s and ’60s inspired cat eye frames”, the Italian brand has received many comments on its addition.</p>

<p>The product description on the website read, “An unconventional take on the ’50s and ’60s inspired cat eye frames, these sunglasses are presented with an inverted design that created an ‘upside down’ effect.&nbsp;<br />
The frames and temples are created using multiple layers of black and white acetate. Enameled floral details and a petite ‘Gucci’ logo further enrich the design.”&nbsp;</p>

<p>Many asked Gucci “why are we doing this” while others simply mocked the label for the inverted glasses.&nbsp;</p>

Luxury label Gucci trolled for 'inverted sunglasses' as netizens find it amusing

<p>Gucci is revisiting 1960s handbags and other classics in its latest collection, mixing them with up-to-the-minute sneakers and logoed skateboards, as it seeks to reach a wider audience and reverse a fall in sales after years of stellar growth.</p>

<p>With traditional fashion shows cancelled because of the coronavirus pandemic, designer Alessandro Michele teamed up with U.S. director Gus Van Sant to shoot a seven-part miniseries to show off his largely seasonless, gender-neutral creations.</p>

<p>Gucci is showing the videos as a virtual fashion film festival, with a new instalment released daily over the course of this week.</p>

<p>The films, which have a dream-like, retro quality with vintage cars and juke-boxes, follow a woman, played by Italian actress Silvia Calderoni, as she goes about her daily routine in Rome.</p>

<p>They feature cameo appearances by celebrities close to the fashion house such as singers Billie Eilish and Harry Styles - all wearing Gucci creations, including re-editions of Michele’s designs from his first 2015 collection.</p>

<p>The former One Direction singer has also created a buzz in the fashion world by appearing on the cover of a December edition of Vogue, clad in a Gucci ball gown.</p>

Behind the scenes, luxury industry watchers say this is a watershed moment for Gucci, the business that drives the bulk of revenue and profits at parent Kering, but which has been losing steam over the past year.</p>

<p>After a nearly fourfold increase in earnings since Michele took the creative helm, Gucci’s revenues have slowed down, lagging rivals like LVMH’s Louis Vuitton and Hermes. Gucci was the only fashion brand in Kering’s stable to suffer a sales decline in the third quarter.</p>

<p>Much of the brand’s success up until recently relied on well-heeled, young Chinese shoppers travelling to Europe’s fashion capitals and snapping up Michele’s quirky, flamboyant designs.</p>

<p>But with international tourism almost frozen due to the pandemic, Gucci can no longer rely on foreign visitors coming to Europe’s shopping streets to boost sales.</p>

<p>Consultancy Bain, which produces closely-followed forecasts for the luxury industry, said on Wednesday the share of high-end goods purchases by local clients is expected to rise to 80-85% of the total this year from 60% in 2019. Local buyers are still set to account for 65-70% of luxury shopping in 2025.</p>

<p>Gucci is rejigging its marketing and product line-up to refocus the label and boost its appeal among local and older shoppers in Europe and the United States. The fashion house has, for example, produced “re-edited” versions of its classic handbags such as the 1,800-euro Jackie 1961.</p>

<p>People born from 1981 onwards -- Millennials and Generation Z buyers -- now make up almost 60% of luxury purchases, Bain said, but brands cannot afford to neglect the remaining 40%.</p>

<p>That is why on top of tweaking their ranges to include less trend-driven items, most luxury labels are directing their customer service to establish close contact with clients who are not able to go to the stores themselves.</p>

<p>Gucci is still doing well on many fronts, including an operating margin of 30% in the first half of 2020, down from a record high of 40.6% a year earlier but still far exceeding that of many competitors.</p>

<p>But analysts say there are some signs of fatigue.</p>

<p>Luca Solca of Bernstein said Gucci’s social media traction, while still high, is diminishing. It also seems to have more trouble selling excess inventory at full price.</p>

<p>“There is no red flag at Gucci, but we see an opportunity to act now in order to avoid bigger issues down the road,” said Solca in a note.</p>

Netizens go no holds barred after Gucci unveils stained jeans worth $1,200

<p>Aldo Gucci's grand daughter,&nbsp;Alexandra Zarini, has accused her stepfather of sexually assaulting her over a period of 16 years.</p>

<p>The heiress of the global fashion world filed a case in&nbsp;the California superior court in Los Angeles. She has accused her former stepfather&nbsp;Joseph Ruffalo of sexually abusing her.&nbsp;</p>

<p>She has also filed a case against Patricia Gucci, her mother, and Bruna Palombo, her grandmother, on the charges of complicity and a cover-up.</p>

<p>In the lawsuit, she alleged the producer of sexually abusing her from the age of six to 22. She explained that Ruffalo used to get&nbsp;into bed naked with her, and penetrate her with his hands. She also accused him of rubbing his&nbsp;own genitals against her.</p>

<p>Hinting towards Ruffalo's alcohol problem, she said she knew she&nbsp;was about to be subjected to abuse whenever she heard ice and alcohol being poured into Ruffalo's. She also accused him of encouraging her to use&nbsp;cocaine and crystal meth.</p>

<p>She said her mother and grandmother&nbsp;“tried to avoid, at all costs, what they perceived would be a scandal that could tarnish the Gucci name and potentially cost them millions.”</p>

<p>Patricia has also been accused of hitting Zarini when she was a child.&nbsp;</p>

<p>“If you think this doesn’t happen here in Beverly Hills, then you should know that my perpetrator still lives in California, spends time at the Bel-Air country club and volunteers in your children’s hospitals,” Zarini said in a video released by her lawyers.</p>

She has also filed a case against Patricia Gucci, her mother, and Bruna Palombo, her grandmother, on the charges of complicity and a cover-up. In the lawsuit, she alleged the producer of sexually abusing her from the age of six to 22. She explained that Ruffalo used to get into bed naked with her, and penetrate her with his hands. She also accused him of rubbing his own genitals against her. Hinting towards Ruffalo's alcohol problem, she said she knew she was about to be subjected to abuse whenever she heard ice and alcohol being poured into Ruffalo's. She also accused him of encouraging her to use cocaine and crystal meth. She said her mother and grandmother “tried to avoid, at all costs, what they perceived would be a scandal that could tarnish the Gucci name and potentially cost them millions.” Patricia has also been accused of hitting Zarini when she was a child. “If you think this doesn’t happen here in Beverly Hills, then you should know that my perpetrator still lives in California, spends time at the Bel-Air country club and volunteers in your children’s hospitals,” Zarini said in a video released by her lawyers. “This is not something that only happens to other families, other neighborhoods or other countries. It is everywhere.” Zarini has also launched her own anti-child abuse non-profit, the Alexandra Gucci Children’s Foundation. “What he did to her is inexcusable and I was devastated when she disclosed everything to me at our family doctor’s office in London in September 2007. I immediately initiated divorce proceedings against Mr Ruffalo and set about healing my family through counseling,” Patricia Gucci said in a statament.

“I think these are stale and underfed words … clothes should have a longer life than that which these words attribute to them,” he said.</p>

<p>The brand, instead, will showcase “seasonless” collections twice a year. The last show was held in February this year and there are no plans for a show in September when the Gucci collection would normally be staged as a key part of Milan fashion week.<br />

The carousel of international fashion shows has been halted owing to the outbreak of the pandemic. There is no surety as to when the events will again begin.<br />

<p>Kering's Gucci and Bottega Veneta brands do their presentations in Milan, while Saint Laurent, Balenciaga and Alexander McQueen host their showcases in Paris, where they rival the likes of Chanel or LVMH's&nbsp;Christian Dior.</p>
