<p>The Goa government plans to focus on the COVID-19 containment zones in the state and urge the recovered patients of coronavirus from these areas to donate their plasma for treatment of others.</p>

<p>Talking to reporters, state Health Minister Vishwajit Rane on Friday said that next week, Chief Minister Pramod Sawant would hold a meeting with those MLAs, in whose constituencies the containment zones fall, in order to involve them in the plasma donation drive.</p>

<p>"The MLAs, cutting across party lines, would be asked to encourage recovered coronavirus patients in the containment zones in their respective constituencies to come ahead and donate their plasma," he said.</p>

<p>"Plasma therapy is one of the best solutions to treat COVID-19. Time has come for the recovered patients to become saviour for others," the minister said.</p>

<p>Rane said that the Goa Medical College and Hospital (GMCH) has set up a facility to get plasma from the blood of the recovered patients.</p>

<p>"We will also appeal to the police personnel and people from health sector, who have recovered from the infection, to come ahead and donate plasma," he said.</p>

<p>The minister said that the state government will also involve NGOs and media to encourage people for plasma donation.</p>

<p>A woman in Goa has tested positive for coronavirus on Sunday. The woman had travelled to Goa in a Delhi-Thiruvananthapuram Rajdhani train on Saturday.</p>

<p>As soon as the passengers reached the destination, they were&nbsp;taken to the district hospital for testing, and later quarantined at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in Margao city, the official said.</p>

<p>In all, the district hospital has tested over 500 samples drawn from different sources since Saturday, he said. Goa, now, has 16 active cases.</p>

<p>Following intelligence inputs of a possible terror attack along the western coast, Section 144 of the Criminal Procedure Code (CrPC) has been imposed in North Goa.&nbsp;</p>

<p>North Goa District Magistrate R Menaka said that the law will be placed for 60 days, effective from February 11 to April 10.&nbsp;</p>

<p>The police said that under Section 144 of the Criminal Procedure Code (CrPC) large gatherings are banned in north Goa. The notification released by the district magistrate also talked of the possibility of "anti-social elements committing crime".&nbsp; &nbsp;</p>

<p>"It is absolutely necessary to take speedy measures to prevent danger to human life, and thwart and prevent any type of terrorist activities which may affect the security of the state and create disturbance of public order and tranquillity," Menaka said.&nbsp;</p>

<p>The district magistrate has also asked owners of houses, hotels, lodgings, private guest houses, and paying guest accommodations of religious institutions to strictly verify people before allowing them to enter their premises on lease or rent.&nbsp;<br />

IFFI 2019 to pay homage to 13 veteran Bollywood stars including Kader Khan and Veeru Devgan

<p>According to the Indian Navy, an MiG-29K aircraft crashed in South Goa's Dabolim area on Saturday after taking off for a training mission.</p>

<p>No casualties or injuries were reported and&nbsp;both the pilots managed to eject safely and timely.&nbsp;Captain M Sheokhand and Lt Commander Deepak Yadav were on board during the accident.</p>

<p>Additionally, according to the Navy, the model of MiG-29K involved in the crash was a training imprint of the actual fighter jet.</p>

<p>Navy Spokesperson Commander Vivek Madhwal tweeted, "The MiG-29K trainer aircraft suffered an engine fire. The pilots Captain M Sheokhand and Lt Commander Deepak Yadav ejected safely."</p>

<p>Goa Airport sources said that the Navy aircraft crashed in South Goa at around 12 noon, shortly after taking off from the Dabolim International Airport.</p>

<p>The aircraft witnessed a small mishap while in flight as a bird hit the plane and fire was spotted in the right engine. In the aftermath of this fire, the aircraft crashed in an open and safe area away from civilians. The Indian Navy added that there were no losses reported besides the aircraft.</p>

<p>Sources have told WION that the Moscow based Aerospace company, Mikoyan, which manufactures these aircraft&nbsp;has been&nbsp;informed about the incident.&nbsp;</p>

<p>"Women work in night shifts throughout the country in various sectors. Goa is a developing state and as we are looking to develop an IT and electronics industry, then this bill is very important," Sawant told media persons here on Friday.</p>

<p>"We are moving towards a new age and we require this amendment," the chief minister added.</p>

<p>The Factories (Goa Amendment) Act, 2019, was passed on Thursday by the Goa legislative assembly.</p>

<p>The law amended Section 66 of the Factories Act,1948 (Central Act 63 of 1948), as in force in the State of Goa, to empower the Government to specify the conditions for ensuring the safety of women who work in any factory or manufacturing process between the hours of 7:00 P.M. and 6:00 A.M.</p>

<p>Earlier, Section 66(b) of The Factories Act, 1948 (Central Act 63 of 1948) read, "no women shall be required or allowed to work in any factory except between the hours of 6 A.M. and 7 P.M".</p>

<p>BJP MLA Alena Sardanha, however, had a different view.</p>

<p>The lawmaker was of the opinion that women should not be made to work at night and should stay at home due to security reasons.</p>

<p>"I fear for women's security and I firmly believe that ladies should be in their homes. They are mothers and they have so many responsibilities," Sardanha said.</p>

<p>"The presence of the mother in the house is very essential especially when children have to go to school. She has to be there to help her children get ready for school the next day," Saldanha added.</p>

<p>Upon being asked why she did not raise any objections during the bill's discussion in the assembly the MLA said, "It's not that I did not object, I was busy writing down some points on another issue and that is how I missed it," she said."I am very upset about it. But definitely, I believe that ladies should not be made to work in the night shift," she added.&nbsp;</p>

The law amended Section 66 of the Factories Act,1948 (Central Act 63 of 1948), as in force in the State of Goa, to empower the Government to specify the conditions for ensuring the safety of women who work in any factory or manufacturing process between the hours of 7:00 P.M. and 6:00 A.M. Earlier, Section 66(b) of The Factories Act, 1948 (Central Act 63 of 1948) read, "no women shall be required or allowed to work in any factory except between the hours of 6 A.M. and 7 P.M". BJP MLA Alena Sardanha, however, had a different view. The lawmaker was of the opinion that women should not be made to work at night and should stay at home due to security reasons. "I fear for women's security and I firmly believe that ladies should be in their homes. They are mothers and they have so many responsibilities," Sardanha said. "The presence of the mother in the house is very essential especially when children have to go to school. She has to be there to help her children get ready for school the next day," Saldanha added. Upon being asked why she did not raise any objections during the bill's discussion in the assembly the MLA said, "It's not that I did not object, I was busy writing down some points on another issue and that is how I missed it," she said."I am very upset about it. But definitely, I believe that ladies should not be made to work in the night shift," she added.
