<p>A police official told the PTI that the finding of empty cough syrup bottles indicates that Suchana might have&nbsp;given a heavy dose of the medicine to her son and that it was a pre-planned murder.</p>

<p>Suchana Seth allegedly smothered her child to death either with a cloth or a pillow, according to officials cited by the PTI.</p>

<p>The Bengaluru-based techie&nbsp;allegedly killed her son in an apartment at Candolim in Goa and stuffed the body in a bag before taking it to neighbouring Karnataka in a taxi, police said.</p>

<p>"The post-mortem conducted on the body has indicated the possibility that the child might have been smothered to death and there were no signs of struggle," a senior police official told the Press Trust of India.</p>

<p>"We are examining the possibility if the woman gave a heavy dose of cough syrup to the child before putting him to death," the official said.</p>

<h2><strong>Suchana did not own an office space</strong></h2>

<p>Meanwhile, it was found that Suchana Seth's listed address of her company is a co-working space and not a particular office on its own, The Indian Express reported.&nbsp;</p>

<p>According to Suchana Seth's LinkedIn page, she is the CEO of Mindful AI Lab and was among the top ‘100 Brilliant Women in AI Ethics for 2021’.</p>

<p>"Suchana is an AI ethics expert and data scientist with over 12 years of experience in mentoring data science teams, and scaling machine learning solutions at startups and industry research labs," her LinkedIn profile says.</p>

<p>The 39-year-old CEO was serving as a director of a machine intelligence-based firm registered in September 2020 and was active. "Goa police visited the office of the firm and collected information," a Bengaluru police official told The Indian Express.</p>

<p>On December 31, people assembled at Ayodhya's famous Lata Mangeshkar Chowk to celebrate New Year's Eve. As the clock struck midnight, people gathered and cheered "Happy New Year." They also chanted "<em>Jai Shri Ram</em>."</p>

Between December 30 and 31 this year, we received 230k+ last-minute bookings globally," OYO's CEO posted on X. According to him, OYO received over 620,000 bookings for New Year's Eve 2023. "We are up by 37 per cent from last year as last-minute bookings rise," he added.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Agarwal's post has garnered over 3.8 lakh views and 8,000 likes. The post comes ahead of the consecration ceremony of Ayodhya's grand Ram Mandir on January 22.</p>

<p>India’s Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) on Wednesday (August 16) suspended an Indian Police Service (IPS) official accused of molesting a woman at a night club.</p>

<p>IPS Dr A Koan was serving as Deputy Inspector General (DIG) in India’s southwestern state of Goa. Last week, he was relieved of his duties and ordered to report to the state Director General of Police (DGP).</p>

<p>A statement released by the MHA on Wednesday read, “The President of India, in exercise of the powers conferred under Rule 3 of ALL India Services (Discipline and Appeal) Rules, 1969, hereby places Dr. A. Koan, IPS (AGMUT:2009) under suspension with immediate effect.”</p>

<p>Koan is a 2009-batch IPS officer of the AGMUT (Arunachal Pradesh, Goa, Mizoram and Union Territories) cadre.</p>

<h2><strong>What happened?</strong></h2>

<p>According to media reports, IPS officer Koan allegedly molested a woman at a night club in Goa on August 7. A CCTV footage showing the woman engaged in a heated argument with another person accompanying the IPS officer is also circulating on social media.</p>

<p>A different CCTV footage showed the IPS officer walking around in the washroom in a drunken state.</p>

<p>Dudhsagar Falls (literal translation 'A sea of milk') is a favourite tourist spot for someone who doesn't mind a bit of trekking. The waterfalls, together with the lush greenery that surrounds it, make for a scenic location. The waterfalls become especially beautiful during the ongoing Monsoon season.</p>

<p>The visitors to the falls often walk along tracks of the South Western Railway line to reach Dudhsagar after getting off at Collem station in South Goa.&nbsp;</p>

<p>However, Goa Police, the Forest Department, along with the Railways have now issued orders banning trekking during monsoon to prevent the likelihood of mishaps.</p>

<p>Just last week, the Goa Police banned people from visiting waterfalls in the state after two deaths at Mainapi waterfall in Sanguem taluka.</p>

<p>The South Western Railway tweeted, urging people not to walk along the tracks.</p>

<p>"We urge you to savour the beauty of Dudhsagar Falls from within your coach. Walking on/along tracks not only endangers your own safety but is also an offence under sections 147, 159 of Railway Act. It can also endanger the safety of trains," it tweeted.</p>

The ocean sailing yacht Indian Navy Sailing Vessel (INSV) Tarini, which has been travelling under difficult circumstances for the past seven months and covering 17,000 nautical miles, has arrived back at its home port in Goa on Tuesday.

This is just a glimpse of the grand welcome that awaits Indian Naval Sailing Vessel (INSV) Tarini and her crew of naval officers, as she sails towards the shores of Goa around 2:20 pm local time on Tuesday (May 23). At that time, INSV Tarini would have completed a grand voyage of 31,000 kilometres. In a 188-day trans-oceanic and inter-continental voyage, the vessel sailed from Goa, on India's southwestern coast, to Cape Town, South Africa and Rio De Janeiro, Brazil, and then set sail for the return to Goa.</p>

<p>Over the last decade-and-a-half, the Indian Navy has taken earnest efforts in promoting ocean sailing in the country. Indian Navy's Captain Dilip Donde was the first Indian to circumnavigate the globe in 2009-2010. Subsequently, Commander Abhilash Tomy (retired) was the first Asian skipper to participate in two circumnavigations. Recently, during Golden Globe Race 2022, an east-bound non-stop circumnavigation race starting and finishing in Les Sables d’ Olonne, France, Cdr Abhilash Tomy (retd) accomplished the rare feat of getting a podium finish by completing the gruelling course in second position, all while using primitive sailing tools and no modern technology. On board INSV Tarini, six women officers of the Indian Navy had successfully completed a circumnavigation expedition 'Navika Sagar Parikrama' in the year 2018. While the legacy of such expeditions stands tall in the country, Tarini's latest mission is a special one.</p>

<p>The Indian Navy envisions sending a woman on a solo circumnavigation attempt and this latest expedition is a stepping stone towards that goal. Lieutenant Commanders Dilna (hailing from Kerala) and Roopa (hailing from Pondicherry) have sailed 188 days on Tarini, guided and mentored in two phases (onward phase from Goa to Rio De Janeiro and return from Rio to Goa), by two batches of naval Officers with vast sailing experience. Through rough seas and adverse conditions, the women officers are being put through the process of gaining more confidence and experience towards more daring feats on the high seas.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Pakistan's 34-year-old foreign minister Bilawal Bhutto Zardari arrived in Goa this week for a meeting of the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) and depending on how you read it, &nbsp;you can interpret the Namaste returned by the young Bhutto scion to his counterpart Subrahmanyam Jaishankar as a sign of diplomatic thaw, uneasy courtesy on a difficult encounter or persisting coldness between India and Pakistan.</p>

<p>Since its inception in 2001, the SCO has mostly talked about regional security and a fight against separatism and terrorism, often associated with religious extremism. But it is precisely these issues that have kept India and Pakistan apart for decades. After all, in the Indian political imagination, Pakistan itself seceded from undivided India in 1947 only to fan terrorism and separatism laced with religious extremism in the disputed Kashmir region.</p>

<p>We need to push the cameras of our minds back to 1964 when Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru died and Lal Bahadur Shastri took over. Bilawal's grandfather Zulfikar Ali Bhutto visited Delhi then as Pakistan's 36-year-old foreign minister to attend Nehru's funeral. The older Bhutto's American biographer Stanley Wolpert says that then-young Bhutto mistook the diminutive Shastri for a weakling and decided to push his country's military ruler Ayub Khan to invade Kashmir in 1965. &nbsp;</p>

<p>Pakistan lost the war badly. Bhutto resigned and rose in protest against the army ruler (much like Imran Khan did as PM recently) after joining the general in negotiating a peace treaty with Shastri, who died tragically and mysteriously in Tashkent where the treaty was signed. Uzbekistan is now part of the SCO, and memories of Tashkent come creeping in.</p>

<p>The young Ms. Bhutto, Bilawal's mother, went on to become prime minister in PPP-led democratic governments as Pakistan shakily put army rule behind. Somewhere along the way, Zulfikar was hanged to death by the man he appointed as army chief, General Zia Ul Haq.</p>

<p>Why all this now? In time-slice terms, these images may show that Pakistan is a pale shadow of its former self as far as diplomatic and economic strengths go.&nbsp;</p>

<p>However, the young Bhutto, despite losing his grandfather to a military ruler's noose and his mother to a mysterious election rally assassination in 2007, retains the family spunk to show strength in times of severe adversity.</p>

<p>In 2016, he described Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi as a "butcher" related to deaths in Gujarat and Kashmir and recently in March, raked up the Kashmir issue at the UN Security Council.</p>

<p>A Namaste in Goa cannot ease up relations between India and Pakistan any more than an elegantly worn saree did in Shimla in 1972. Pakistan's existential political weapons for mobilising mass support are Islam and Kashmir, and that does not appear to have changed despite Pakistan sinking deeply into an economic crisis.</p>

<p>We can always debate if demagogic politics is an escape from bad economics or &nbsp;if economic crises are caused by bad politics. Despite being liberals in their personal lives and amiable in their social behaviour, the Bhuttos have their political capital in the rhetoric that feeds Pakistan's masses. &nbsp;Unless that changes, little can be expected from the family that may still have the best interests of the average Pakistani in its hearts.</p>

<p>Upon receiving Zardari, who arrived from Pakistan yesterday to attend SCO summit, Jaishankar chose to greet the Pakistani foreign minister with a 'Namaste' rather than a handshake.&nbsp;</p>

<p>On the arrival podium ahead of the commencement of the SCO meeting, there were no handshakes between the two ministers, at least not publicly.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Jaishankar did Namaste to the Pakistani foreign minister just like he did with other foreign ministers, including the China's Qin Gang.</p>

<p>Every gesture matters in international affairs. Remember Biden's fist bump with the Saudi crown prince and the striking photograph which was much discussed in the world arena?</p>

<p>Even when Rajnath Singh met his Chinese counterpart Li Shangfu at the SCO defence ministers' meet, the Indian defence minister skipped a handshake.&nbsp;</p>

<p>He, just like Jaishankar, chose to welcome his Chinese counterpart with a Namaste.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Leaving alone only the Chinese counterpart, Singh shook hands with Tajik, Iranian and Kazakh counterparts. The video footage gained much traction on social media and was shared widely.&nbsp;</p>

<p>India's ties with Pakistan are strained even further after the Pulawama terror attack and the revocation of Article 370 on the status of Jammu and Kashmir. Jaishankar, on many international forums, has brought the attention of the world towards the state-sponsored cross-border terrorism by Pakistan.&nbsp;</p>

<p>India's retaliation to the Pulwama attack with Balakot strikes in 2019 was New Delhi's befitting reply to Islamabad.&nbsp;</p>

<p>The most recent incident which left five soldiers dead and many others injured in Jammu and Kashmir's Poonch district was Pakistan’s act of “desperation” after the 2019 Balakot air strikes, as per Lt. Gen. (Retd) Kanwal Jeet Singh Dhillon, media reports said.&nbsp;</p>

<p>“After Pulwama, the Indian government’s resolve and their will to strike at will was showcased when we carried out the air strikes in Balakot. As per technical terminology, when the Air Force fully armed crosses the international boundary it’s actually a declaration of war,” said Dhillon.&nbsp;</p>

<p>He added, “(The) Indian Air Force crossed the Line of Control, overflew Pakistan-occupied Kashmir, suppressed the Pakistani air defence, defeated the Pakistani Air Force and crossed the international boundary.”&nbsp;</p>

<p>Dhillon cautioned Pakistan that India will hit back if Pulwama is repeated.&nbsp;</p>

<p>“Balakot is not in PoK, Balakot is in proper Pakistan. So IAF struck in proper Pakistan, destroyed the camp and came back safely without even being noticed or touched by the Pakistani air defence. So that was the lesson told to Pakistan that we will hit back if you try out anything like this (Pulwama),” he added.</p>

<p>Apart from that, India-China relations have also suffered several blows in recent years. Chinese Foreign Minister Qin Gang in his meeting with Jaishankar said, “Both sides should continue to implement the important consensus reached by the leaders of the two countries, consolidate the existing achievements, strictly abide by relevant agreements, take joint action to further ease and cool down the border situation and maintain sustainable peace and tranquillity in the border areas."</p>

<p>But the tensions cut deeper than the diplomatic words. Starting from Galwan clashes to China's renaming of about 11 places in Arunachal Pradesh, the relationship is marred by varied incidents. India has already rejected China's renaming of places in Arunachal Pradesh, and the instances like Namaste for a handshake are not a surprise and are often resorted to conveying a strong warning or a message.&nbsp;</p>
