<h2><strong>What happened?</strong></h2>

<p>The death toll rose from 15 which was reported earlier by the city mayor Ekrem Imamoglu, following a series of statements issued by the Istanbul governor’s office.&nbsp;</p>

<p>The fire reportedly broke out during daytime renovation and repair work at the 16-storey building in Istanbul’s Besiktas.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Out of the 13 injured, seven were reportedly seriously wounded during the fire at a Masquerade nightclub which occupies two floors underneath a 16-storey residential building in the city’s Gayrettepe district.&nbsp;</p>

<p>The fire broke out at around 12:47 pm (local time), said the Istanbul Governorship, in a statement, due to some renovation work in the entertainment centre which was operating in the basement of the 16-storey building.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Images from the site show flames and a column of thick smoke emitting from the upper floors of the building. The officials said that the fire has since been extinguished and those injured have been taken to nearby hospitals.&nbsp;</p>

<h2><strong>Response to the fire</strong></h2>

<p>Firefighters responded with 31 vehicles and 86 personnel after the blaze was reported, said the governor’s office.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Governor of Istanbul Davut Gul told reporters at the scene that the cause of the fire was under investigation and the victims are believed to be involved in the renovation work.</p>

<p>An Indian-origin couple along with their teenage daughter lost their lives in a "suspicious" fire that gutted their home in Canada's Ontario province last week, said the police on Friday (Mar 15).&nbsp;</p>

<p>According to the press release issued by the Peel Police, the family's home,&nbsp;located at the Big Sky Way and Van Kirk Drive area of Brampton was&nbsp;engulfed by fire on March 7.</p>

<p>After the fire was put&nbsp;under control, the investigators found the&nbsp;human remains inside the gutted house, however, they could not ascertain the number of people killed at the time.</p>

<p>On Friday (Mar 15), the authorities identified the charred remains as those belonging to three family members: 51-year-old Rajiv Warikoo; his wife, 47-year-old Shilpa Kotha; and their 16-year-old daughter, Mahek Warikoo.</p>

<h2><strong>Fire 'not accidental', says police&nbsp;</strong></h2>

<p>The police officials informed that the family was living at the address before the fire broke out.</p>

<p>On Friday (Mar 15), Peel police Constable Taryn Young said that the fire appeared 'suspicious', reported the CTV news channel.</p>

<p>"At this time, we are investigating this with our homicide bureau, and we are deeming this as suspicious as the Ontario Fire Marshal has deemed that this fire was not accidental," Young was quoted as saying in the report.</p>

<p>"There's not much left to it," she said while speaking about the possible cause of the fire.</p>

<p>"Looking into something like that as a fire marshal, I'm sure it's very tough when there is not much left to look at. But we are exhausting all avenues," she added.&nbsp;</p>

<h2><strong>Investigation into 'mysterious fire' incident continues</strong></h2>

<p>Kenneth Yousaf, the neighbour of the deceased family, said that for 15 years the family was living at the same address and they never noticed any problems with them.</p>

<p>He said that one of his family members alerted him about the fire, after hearing a big "bang". "When we came out, the house was on fire. So sad. Within a few hours, everything was down to the ground," said Yousaf, as quoted in the report.</p>

<h2><strong>What did the email say to employees?</strong></h2>

<p>An email, which was sent to some RNC employees from Chief Operating Officer Sean Cairncross, read that “certain staff are being asked to resign and reapply.”</p>

<p>The email further said that those employees who will not reapply will have their last working day with the RNC on March 31.</p>

<p>On Friday (Mar 8), the RNC voted for the installation of new leaders which included Michael Whatley as chair and Lara Trump as co-chair.&nbsp;</p>

<p>LaCivita, a top aide for Trump’s 2024 campaign,&nbsp; took over as the chief of staff of the committee.&nbsp;</p>

Media reports said that the fire gutted several rooms in 'Pine Palace Platinum' hotel and a massive effort to douse the flames was underway.</p>

<p>A massive fire broke out in a paint factory in Delhi's Alipur area Thursday night.&nbsp;At the time of the incident, some individuals were working inside the warehouse and got trapped inside.&nbsp;At least 11 people&nbsp;lost their lives in the fire.&nbsp;</p>

<p>It took approximately three hours to bring the fire under control, and later seven&nbsp;bodies were recovered in a search operation.</p>

<p>The treatment of the injured is underway at Raja Harishchandra Hospital in Narela. The bodies of the deceased have been sent to the mortuary at Babu Jagjivan Ram Hospital.</p>

Police claim that there was a blast at the factory before the fire. An officer stated, "Teams have been formed to investigate the incident." Officials from the fire department informed that on Thursday evening, the police and fire department received information about a fire in the paint factory located in H Block, Dayal Market, Alipur. The families of the victims will be given an ex-gratia of Rs 10 lakhs, those who have sustained serious injuries will get Rs 2 lakhs and those with minor injuries will be given Rs 20,000. the nearby shops and houses that got burnt in the fire will also be compensated after assessing the loss," said Kejriwal. "It is a very sad incident. The fire broke out in a paint factory. 11 people have lost their lives and 4 others are injured. We will provide Rs 10 lakhs each to the families of the deceased, Rs 2 lakh each to the people with major injuries and Rs 20,000 each to the people with minor injuries. It is being informed that the fire tenders were late, I will order an inquiry for the same. Actions will be taken against the factory owner for running the factory in a residential area," he added. Delhi BJP President Virendra Sachdeva also visited Alipur and said, "BJP will provide assistance to the injured people and will provide immediate assistance of Rs. 50,000 to the family members of the deceased. <p>The explosion sent a huge fireball into the night sky close to the residential area in the southeast of Nairobi, shattering several buildings and damaging vehicles. The blaze also engulfed a nearby textile and garment warehouse.</p>

<p>The government said that three people had lost their lives in the blast at a gas refilling plant and 280 more were being treated at hospitals around Nairobi.&nbsp;</p>

<p>The Kenyan Red Cross released a statement saying that several others were being treated at a triage point.</p>

<p>"The fire caught up with me from almost one kilometre away as I was escaping," survivor Edwin Machio told news agency Reuters.</p>

<p>"The flames from the explosion knocked me down and burnt me on my neck," he added, taking off his shirt to show burnt flesh on his shoulders and upper arms.</p>

<p>Reportedly, Douglas Kanja, Deputy Inspector of Police, said a guard at the site where the blast incident occurred, had been arrested and that the probe was underway.</p>

<p>As per the news agency AFP, residents said that they were fearful of such an incident taking place as the gas trucks were arriving almost every day in the Mradi area.</p>

<p>Kenyan government spokesman Isaac Maigua Mwaura said that the residential houses in the neighbourhood also caught fire with some still inside their homes.</p>

<p>The explosion ignited a "huge ball of fire that spread widely", he said in a statement. &nbsp;</p>

<p>"Consequently, the inferno further damaged several vehicles and commercial properties, including many small and medium-sized businesses," he added.</p>

<p>"Sadly, residential houses in the neighbourhood also caught fire, with a good number of residents still inside as it was late at night," Mwaura further said.</p>

<p>Kenya's Energy and Petroleum Regulatory Authority (EPRA) released a statement on Friday (Feb 2) stating that it had last year denied permission at least three times for the construction of a liquefied petroleum gas storage and filling plant at the site of the explosion. &nbsp;</p>

<p>"All applications were rejected as they did not meet the set criteria for an LPG storage and filling plant in that area," EPRA said in a statement.</p>

<p>"The main reason for the rejection was the failure of the designs to meet the safety distances stipulated," it said, noting "the high population density around the proposed site," it added.</p>
