At the Emmys Kimmel and Will Arnett presented the best writing for a comedy series award. During that Arnett dragged the `Jimmy Kimmel Live` host onstage and explained Kimmel had a few drinks after his show`s loss to `Last Week Tonight With John Oliver` for best variety talk series.

Emmy Awards 2022: 'Succession', 'Ted Lasso' lead nominations; here's the complete list

Marilyn Bergman, the Oscar, Emmy and Grammy-winning songwriter whose lyrics graced hits such as `The Way We Were,` `The Windmills of Your Mind`, `In the Heat of the Night` and the songs from `Yentl`, has died at age 93. 
 
According to Variety, Bergman was the first woman president and chairman of the board of the American Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers (ASCAP), a post she held from 1994 to 2009. 
 
She and her husband and lifelong writing partner Alan Bergman wrote the words to some of the most popular film and TV songs of the 1960s, `70s and `80s, and continued to write together well into the 2000s. 
 
They were Oscar-nominated 16 times, and won three (for `Way We Were,` `Windmills` and the entire song score for `Yentl`). The Bergmans were frequent collaborators with composers Michel Legrand (their co-writer on `Windmills,` `Yentl` and such other songs as `What Are You Doing the Rest of Your Life?` and `How Do You Keep the Music Playing?`) and Marvin Hamlisch (`The Way We Were`). 
 
ASCAP President and Chairman Paul Williams paid tribute to Bergman, writing in a statement, "It is with deep sadness that I personally, and all of ASCAP, mourn the passing of Marilyn Bergman -- one of the greatest lyricists who ever lived and truly ASCAP royalty. She was a brilliant songwriter who together with her husband, Alan Bergman, gave us some of the most beautiful and enduring lyrics of all time." 
 
He added, "She was a tireless and fierce advocate for music creators not only during her term as President and Chairman of ASCAP but throughout her life. Our community will miss her intelligence, her wit and her wisdom. Alan -- we mourn with you."She was born Marilyn Keith in Brooklyn, majored in music at New York`s High School of Music and Art, then studied at NYU. While still in high school, she often played piano for lyricist Bob Russell. He encouraged her to consider songwriting as a profession. 
 
When she moved to Los Angeles in the mid-1950s, she began writing lyrics for composer Lew Spence and soon met Spence`s other lyric-writing partner, Alan Bergman. Marilyn and Alan were married in February 1958. 
 
Among their early hits were `Nice `n` Easy`, title track for the 1960 Frank Sinatra album, written with Spence; and `Yellow Bird`, a calypso number for a 1959 Norman Luboff album.`In the Heat of the Night,` sung by Ray Charles, was their big breakthrough film, working with composer Quincy Jones in 1967. Numerous films with Legrand followed, including `The Thomas Crown Affair,` `The Happy Ending,` `Pieces of Dreams,` `Summer of `42,` `Best Friends` and `Yentl,` many of which yielded hit songs.

This&nbsp;decision was taken after he had to resign from his post following allegations made against him regarding his involvement in several sexual harassment cases.

"The International Academy announced today that in light of the New York attorney general's report, and Andrew Cuomo's subsequent resignation as governor, it is rescinding his special 2020 International Emmy Award," the organisation told news agency AFP. "His name and any reference to his receiving the award will be eliminated from International Academy materials going forward."<o:p></o:p>

Cuomo had won an Emmy for his confident press conferences and other performance at the beginning of the coronavirus pandemic.<o:p></o:p>

While that was a big news in itself, Sex and the City&nbsp;actress&nbsp;Cynthia Nixon has brought the issue back to headlines, but for a different reason.<o:p></o:p>

Nixon took to Twitter to take a dig at Cuomo and his Emmy loss. "The difference between me and Andrew Cuomo? Neither of us is governor, but I still have my Emmy(s),"&nbsp;she tweeted.

Television shows binge-watched -- and even filmed -- during the coronavirus pandemic will vie for coveted Emmy nominations Tuesday, with Netflix's 'The Crown'&nbsp;tipped to reign over a unique year for the small screen.

Like the rest of us, the Television Academy's 25,000 voters spent several months stuck at home, leaving them ample time to sift through a stripped-down selection of series from their sofas.

Nominees for TV's equivalent of the Oscars will be announced in a live-streamed ceremony starting at 1530 GMT, after which final-round voting begins for the 73rd Emmy Awards, set for September 19.

Here are five things to look out for as the nominations are unveiled:

Pandemic 'pandemonium' - The arrival of Covid-19 early last year shut down filming and upended TV production schedules, meaning the overall number of Emmy contenders has fallen.

Heavyweights like Netflix's royal drama 'The Crown'&nbsp;managed to wrap just before lockdown, while others including Hulu's dystopian saga 'The Handmaid's Tale'&nbsp;rushed back to set as soon as restrictions eased.

But the enforced hiatus meant popular shows like 'Succession',&nbsp;last year's best drama winner, failed to produce a season in time for this year's awards. That has created room for newcomers -- especially in comedy, where Michael Douglas's 'The Kominsky Method'&nbsp;is the sole nominee from last year running again.

The race for best comedy series "is going to have so much fresh blood in it," said IndieWire's TV awards editor Libby Hill.&nbsp; "When your job is to have an idea of what's going to happen, a year like this is just pandemonium." Netflix eyes top prize - In recent years, Netflix has unseated HBO in the battle for the most nominations.

Given the streaming giant's prodigious output, that is unlikely to change this year, according to Hill, who describes premium cable channel HBO as the "niche arthouse to Netflix's megaplex."

But nominations don't necessarily translate into wins, and Netflix has somehow never won the Emmys for best drama, best comedy or best limited series.

Could that change come September?

"This is most likely The Crown's year," said Hill, with previous drama winners "Succession" and "Game of Thrones" absent, and the British royals saga delivering "a spectacular fourth season."

Netflix's cultural phenomenon "The Queen's Gambit," which sent chessboard sales soaring, is tipped to dominate the limited series awards.

- Not so limited -&nbsp;The Emmys' limited series category -- for shows stopping after one season -- has become ever more competitive in recent years, drawing Hollywood's top A-listers to the small screen's most prestigious projects.

This year, "The Queen's Gambit" faces formidable competition from Kate Winslet's small-town murder mystery "Mare of Easttown," and the Barry Jenkins-directed slavery tale "The Underground Railroad."

Also competing are two series delving into London's Black communities -- HBO's critically adored "I May Destroy You," which follows the aftermath of a rape, and Steve McQueen's "Small Axe" immigrant anthology.

Marvel arrives -&nbsp;All those limited series must fend off a new foe -- the superheroes of Marvel's "WandaVision."&nbsp;

The show starring popular characters from Marvel's record-breaking films, including Elizabeth Olsen's magical witch Wanda Maximoff, won legions of fans and critical praise for its quirky send-up of classic TV sitcoms.

It is not the only "genre" show gatecrashing the Emmys -- fellow Marvel series "The Falcon and the Winter Soldier" is running for best drama, alongside "Star Wars" spin-off "The Mandalorian," which earned 15 nods and seven wins last year.

"I don't think there's that inborn bias like you find in film, that divide between what's 'popular' and what's 'high art,'" said Hill.

"I think there's plenty of room for Marvel at the Emmys."

Netflix eyes top prize - In recent years, Netflix has unseated HBO in the battle for the most nominations. Given the streaming giant's prodigious output, that is unlikely to change this year, according to Hill, who describes premium cable channel HBO as the "niche arthouse to Netflix's megaplex." But nominations don't necessarily translate into wins, and Netflix has somehow never won the Emmys for best drama, best comedy or best limited series. Could that change come September? It is a different Emmys this year courtesy the coronavirus pandemic. No red carpet and&nbsp;no audience as the host speaks amid several precautions.&nbsp;

Emmy Awards 2020 has stars make it to the virtual ceremony from their homes.&nbsp;To avoid the drawbacks of a Zoom call, the showrunners have arranged for many movie-quality cameras, lights and microphones to capture live and spontaneous reactions from winners in their living rooms. Producers are monitoring 130 live feeds from about 20 cities, including Los Angeles, New York, London, Tel Aviv and Berlin.
