Zhu Xiaotong, also known as Tom Zhu, smiled in a vest and a black hat with a white "T" for Tesla in a Twitter post celebrating Tesla manufacturing 3,000 Model Ys a week at its Texas factory last month. Zhu, who oversaw the US automaker's operations in Asia-Pacific and managed its Shanghai factory to become the company's most productive in the world, was sent to Austin late last year to assist with running Tesla's newest plant, as reported by the South China Morning Post.

It is claimed that Zhu is now in charge of worldwide automotive production, sales, and service—a degree of authority that is perhaps second only to that of Tesla CEO Elon Musk—despite the fact that Tesla has not yet made any announcements or designated him as an executive officer.

Zhu joined Tesla in early 2014 to help expand its Supercharger network. By the end of his first year at Tesla, Zhu had swiftly risen through the ranks and was in charge of the China operations. Under his leadership, Tesla's Shanghai factory—the company's first site outside the US—materialized quickly, transforming from a muddy field to a dazzling assembly line for electric vehicles in less than a year. Zhu was elevated to the positions of president of Greater China and worldwide vice president before mass production even began at the end of 2019.

He was promoted in July of last year when the automaker expanded into Thailand, Hong Kong, and Singapore. He now has overall responsibility for Tesla Asia-Pacific. Musk also commended Zhu's China team for "burning the 3 am oil" when they toiled nonstop to keep the Shanghai factory running throughout the city's Covid lockdowns. The company underwent improvements to increase manufacturing capacity to 1 million electric vehicles annually during what was an incredibly challenging final year.

This time it concerns the Twitter offices on the 30th floor in downtown San Francisco. This building's landlord claims in a lawsuit filed last week that Twitter owes $136,260 (£113,601) in overdue rent.
Tesla, the world's most valuable automaker registered a 40 per cent year-on-year growth in terms of deliveries in 2022, according to the Q4 vehicle production and delivery report published on Monday. Despite the impressive numbers, Tesla’s new vehicle deliveries fell short of Wall Street expectations.

Tesla produced a total of 439,701 cars in Q4 while managing to deliver 405,278. Comparatively, Tesla only delivered 308,600 vehicles in the same period last year.

The production was increased after Tesla opened up the conveyor belt at its new Austin, Texas and Brandenburg, Germany plant.

Overall, Tesla's annual production stood at 1.37 million in 2022 where it managed to deliver 1.31 million cars. Last year, the full-year deliveries stood at 936,172 vehicles.

While the numbers are a booster shot of confidence for the Tesla board, it still fell short of the expectations of Wall Street which predicted a sale of 420,000-430,000 vehicles in Q4.

The logistical troubles meant that Tesla's deliveries in the quarter fell about 34,000 short of production. It also fell short of the ambitious goal set by Musk of expanding deliveries by 50 per cent annually.

While Tesla's stock plunged 65 per cent in 2022, its worst performance since being listed in 2010, CEO Elon Musk urged the employees to not be “bothered” by the “stock market craziness".

Tesla, the world's most valuable automaker registered a 40 per cent year-on-year growth in terms of deliveries in 2022, according to the Q4 vehicle production and delivery report published on Monday.
