The settlements, which are pending judicial approval, were unveiled in documents sent on Tuesday in federal court in San Francisco. This substantial sum is in addition to the $641.5 million that McKinsey had already paid to resolve claims lodged by state attorneys-general.&nbsp;

Under the terms of the settlements, McKinsey will disburse $207 million to resolve claims made by counties and municipalities, with an additional $23 million earmarked to address claims lodged by public school districts. While McKinsey had previously acknowledged its intent to resolve these cases, the exact financial terms had not been disclosed until now.&nbsp;

Nitazene consists of some drugs that are a hundred times more potent than morphine and as potent as fentanyl, a synthetic opioid infamous for the lives it has claimed in the US. Over the last two months, there was a rise in opioid-related deaths in the UK, including several cases of nitazene intake. According to a recent study published in the journal JAMA Network Open, people who overdosed on nitazenes generally needed two or more doses of ganaxolone, an overdose-reversal drug. However, those who overdosed on fentanyl required only one. In the 1950s, a Swiss company called Ciba Pharmaceuticals developed nitazene as a new painkiller (analgesic). But the opioid drug, banned under the Psychoactive Substances Act 2016 in the UK, never made it to the market. How do opioids work? Opioids, like morphine, heroin, and fentanyl, act on mu(μ)-opioid receptors, sites in the brain and other body parts that respond to the drug. When activated, these brain receptors can relieve pain. However, at high doses, they can evoke euphoria followed by drowsiness. Opioids also reduce breathing by suppressing the respiratory system. Thus, an overdose of opioids can cause death. The joint raids were carried out at Camp&nbsp;Humphreys, south of Seoul – the largest US military installation outside of the US and Camp Casey, situated north of the capital city.&nbsp;

Two people - a South Korean and a Filipino had already been arrested for drug distribution allegations. Notably, a 24-year-old American soldier had smuggled&nbsp;350 millilitres of liquid synthetic cannabis that was shipped from the US via military mail. The officials of the White House did not specify how much cost-cutting is expected to happen from their negotiations, however, Biden cited the ability of the government to get the drug prices for veterans that were "50 per cent less than Medicare." 
 
Under the IRA, the federal government has the freedom to add more drugs to its negotiating list every year. Medicare price negotiations have been opposed by the pharmaceutical industry for decades, and many companies have already filed lawsuits against the action.&nbsp;

Stevens said their stay at a hotel, worth £2,800 ($3569) became a "nightmare" and he felt "let down" by the offer of £200 ($254) as compensation by the holiday operator. 
 
The travel agency which arranged the trip accepted that its "usually high standards were not met". 
 
When Stevens and his wife Sarah first reached the hotel, they found the room comfortable and the food was also "quite nice", reported BBC.

However, he said that the holiday became "seedy" with "constant cannabis smoking" and people having sex in the pool. He added that he also saw a dead body under a sheet and was informed that two other guests had died because of drug overdoses at the hotel. 
 
"The pool had to be emptied twice a day because the water was so murky. People were chucking their drugs in the pool and there was absolutely no security. When doing our research, no holiday provider described it as a 'party hotel' - but it was,” he said while speaking to the BBC. 
 
"It turned into a 100% car crash holiday,” Stevens added. He said that when he tried discussing the issues with the hotel manager, he replied, "People die every day."

<h2>Bearing the holiday</h2>

"We weren't taken seriously and weren't even taken to a private area to talk about our complaints. TUI offered to move us to another hotel but we had heard from other guests that it was just as bad," Stevens said. 
 
The couple had to spend their 17-day holiday by a "quieter" pool with other guests, who are older in age, however, they did not enjoy the "Dominican vibe" and just had to "grin and bear it".

Stevens said that he was "a loyal customer of TUI for more than 25 years" so he felt disappointed at the compensation offer of £200 in counselling and vouchers. 
 
"I've spent thousands with TUI and they are offering us each what equates to £5.88 a day compensation and not even a proper apology. We feel so let down and my wife, whose birthday treat it was, is really saddened by TUI's response. After we turned down the offer, we haven't heard anything,” he said.

However, it is sold as a white powder, dissolved in liquid or in pill form in the grey markets. Earlier this year, under his leadership, Twitter modified its regulations, allowing cannabis companies to advertise their products on the platform freely. "Going forward, certified advertisers may feature packaged cannabis products in ad creative," the company stated in a press release. Previously, the companies could not show any product in their ads nor could they promote their sale. However, they could link the ads to their websites. While Twitter allows cannabis companies to advertise, its rivals such as Meta and Google have prohibited such ads.
