U.S. President Donald Trump has expressed strong disappointment with NATO, criticizing the alliance for what he called insufficient support during ongoing U.S. military operations in Iran. Trump described NATO as a “paper tiger” and warned that Washington could reconsider its role in the alliance if partners fail to back American strategic priorities.

US-Iran War: US President Donald Trump Expresses His Disappointment with NATO

The US Supreme Court appeared inclined on Wednesday (April 1) to reject Donald Trump’s unprecedented attempt to end birthright citizenship, following a high-profile hearing attended by the president himself. The case represents a central element of Trump’s broader immigration agenda, and his presence at oral arguments marked a rare moment for a sitting president. Trump left after Solicitor General John Sauer presented the administration’s arguments, and did not stay for American Civil Liberties Union attorney Cecillia Wang, who defended birthright citizenship. "We are the only Country in the World STUPID enough to allow 'Birthright' Citizenship!" Trump said in a social media post after returning to the White House. Trump had signed an executive order at the start of his second term declaring that children born in the U.S. to undocumented immigrants or temporary visa holders would not automatically receive citizenship. Lower courts blocked the order, citing the Citizenship Clause of the 14th Amendment, which guarantees citizenship to nearly all individuals born on US soil. Sauer argued before the court that "unrestricted birthright citizenship contradicts the practice of the overwhelming majority of modern nations" and “demeans the priceless and profound gift of American citizenship.” "It operates as a powerful pull factor for illegal immigration and rewards illegal aliens who not only violate the immigration laws but also jump in front of those who follow the rules," he said. Also Read: US lifts sanctions on Venezuela’s interim leader Delcy Rodriguez He also raised concerns about "birth tourism," where individuals travel to the US specifically to give birth. However, both liberal and several conservative justices expressed doubts about the administration’s reasoning. Chief Justice John Roberts questioned the relevance of such arguments. Roberts noted that the administration appeared to be attempting to broaden exceptions to include undocumented immigrants, calling the approach “quirky.” Justice Brett Kavanaugh questioned the relevance of comparing U.S. law to policies in other countries. "We try to interpret American law with American precedent based on American history," Kavanaugh said. "Why should we be thinking about...other countries? I'm not seeing the relevance as a legal, constitutional interpretive matter." Justice Neil Gorsuch also raised historical concerns, noting that the concept of illegal immigration did not exist when the amendment was adopted in 1868. "If somebody showed up here in 1868 and established domicile, that was perfectly fine," Gorsuch said. “And so why wouldn't we...come to the conclusion that the fact that someone might be illegal is immaterial?” Wang argued that overturning birthright citizenship would jeopardize millions of Americans’ legal status. "Ask any American what our citizenship rule is, and they'll tell you, everyone born here is a citizen alike," Wang said. He warned that the so-called “news” is just a “pump” and "dump" scheme and dismissed the US diplomatic signals as “fake news” "Heads-up: Pre-market so-called "news" or "Truth" is often just a setup for profit-taking. Basically, it's a reverse indicator. Do the opposite: If they pump it, short it. If they dump it, go long. See something tomorrow? You know the drill," wrote Ghalibaf in a post on X He warned Washington against any escalation, claiming it would be a ‘big mistake’, and threatened that “if they hit one”, they would be hit with several. This comes as a response to US President Donald Trump's claim that Ghalibaf was the “insider” figure who was involved in negotiations with the US. "Iran's enemies pass off their wishes as ‘news’ while simultaneously threatening our nation—they're dead wrong. If they strike once, they'll get hit several times back." US Secretary of State Marco Rubio has said that communication with Iran is ongoing, primarily through intermediaries, with some level of direct contact also taking place.

Rubio outlined Washington’s war objectives, including degrading Iran’s military capabilities, particularly its missile, naval and air power, while avoiding a ground invasion.

He also issued a strong warning on the Strait of Hormuz, saying the key global shipping route will reopen “one way or another,” either through Iranian compliance or coordinated international action.

The statement comes amid continued disruption in the strait and rising global concern over energy supplies, with the waterway remaining central to the ongoing conflict.

White House spokesperson Karoline Leavitt has backed the idea that US President Donald Trump might be “interested” in asking the Gulf Countries to cover the cost of the US-Israel war on Iran. Gulf countries, Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates are asking the US President Donald Trump to continue its offensive operation against Tehran until its military capability is completely reduced. According to them, the military capability of Iran has not been weakened enough by the month-long US-led bombing.
Why did Trump share the video now?
The fact that Trump chose to share this clip now, in the middle of an active conflict, feels less like nostalgia and more like a statement of intent. Or at minimum, a reminder that his approach to Iran hasn't fundamentally changed in nearly four decades. It comes as in a separate Truth Social post, the POTUS said negotiations were underway with what he described as a "more reasonable" faction within Iran's new leadership, and that progress toward ending military operations had been made. However, the olive branch came wrapped in a threat. If a deal isn't reached shortly, and if the Strait of Hormuz isn't reopened, Trump said the US would "blow up and completely obliterate" Iran's electrical generating plants, oil wells, and Kharg Island — the country's main crude export hub. #Gravitas U.S. President Donald Trump is now threatening to hit Iran where it hurts the most, water. He has openly warned that if Tehran refuses a ceasefire and fails to reopen the Strait of Hormuz, American forces could target and destroy Iran’s desalination plants, the very systems that supply drinking water across the country.

US-Iran War: Trump Threatens to Use Water as a Weapon in West Asia War

US President Donald Trump has indicated that America could "take the oil in Iran" and seize the Kharg Island-- Tehran's main oil export hub-- as war in the Middle East continued into its fifth week. Talking to the Financial Times, the American commander-in-chief said his "preference would be to take the oil", comparing the US military operation in Iran with those in Venezuela earlier this year, where Washington gained control of the oil industry following the capture of the Latin American nation's leader, Nicolas Maduro.

Trump: US Forces Could Take Iran's Kharg Island Very Soon; Floats Seizing Iran Oil Exports

Local media reported that Iran has placed the issue of withdrawing from the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT) on its review agenda. Amid this, U.S. President Donald Trump stated he is negotiating with Iran while directly mentioning the possibility of seizing Kharg Island through ground force deployment.

According to Iran’s semi-official Tasnim News Agency on the 28th, the Iranian parliament and other relevant institutions are urgently reviewing the issue of withdrawing from the NPT.

Donald Trump says ‘big day in Iran’ claims key targets destroyed amid talks of diplomacy

US President Donald Trump on Sunday night aboard Air Force One said that, the Iran has allowed almost 20 cargo ships of oil through the Strait of Hormuz, starting on Monday, March 30. He called this a “tribute” and a “sign of respect” to the US. He also implied that Tehran's decision was a sign that the negotiations are underway and the war was coming to an end. However, it was not clear where these 20 ships were headed. China and India are the major buyers of Iranian oil. The ship could also belong to the Gulf nations. “As you know, they agreed to send eight boats two days ago, and they added another two. So, that’s 10 boats. So, today they gave us as a tribute…I don’t know, I can’t describe it exactly…I think out of a sign of respect, 20 boats of oil, big, big boats of oil going through the Hormuz Strait. That’s taking place starting tomorrow morning over the next couple of days. I would only say that we are doing extremely well in negotiations,” said Trump to the reporters aboard Air Force One. Also read: US-Iran war day 30: Kharg Island showdown, regional escalation and global market shock
Do the 20 ships belong to Pakistan?
Pakistani Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Isaq Dar confirmed that Iran has approved 20 Pakistani-flagged vessels to sail through the Strait of Hormuz. A reported drone incursion at the Palm Beach Airport on Sunday caused panic hours before President Donald Trump was to board Air Force One for Washington DC. However, White House and Secret Service later stated that a private plane lost communications with air traffic control, triggering the scare. Officials were forced to impose a ground stop and scramble helicopters to tackle the situation. Some reports suggest that the Air Force also scrambled F-16 fighter jets and deployed flares. White House and Secret Service confirmed that there was no risk to Air Force One or the President's safety. Trump later safely boarded the plane. "The civilian aircraft violated the Temporary Flight Restriction (TFR) at approximately 1:15 p.m. Eastern Daylight Time. The aircraft was safely escorted out of the area by NORAD aircraft,” the Defense Visual Information Distribution Service said in a statement. The North American Aerospace Defense Command, which controls the airspace over the US and Canada, shared the official reason. The incident came to light when a Delta pilot informed passengers that there was a security scare at the airport, after which helicopters were dispatched. Trump also heaped some praise on the late IRGC general Qasem Soleimani, who was killed by the US in 2020. He characterised Soleimani as a "great leader" and a "mad genius," but called him a "vicious, horrible human being". He further explained the leader label, saying, "if you define a leader in a certain way- a very powerful leader". He claimed that the Iranian leadership was happy when Soleimani was eliminated. Iranian leadership was “extremely happy”, adding that they wouldn't, but he was very powerful and "nobody’s going to be asking them anymore because they’re not here either". He suggested that the Iranian leadership is not there, and nobody wants to be their leader anymore. He said that the “supreme leader” is no more “supreme” and the son is either dead or severely injured, as no one has heard or seen him. “Their leaders are all dead… Their supreme leader is no longer supreme. He's dead,” he said and further added, “Iran's navy is gone… their air force is totally, completely dead.” He claimed that they were "begging” to make a deal. Trump's comments were part of a broader response to the questions regarding global leadership, where he stated that "winning" is the most important factor.
