The question over whether the US–Iran war has truly been “terminated” is now at the center of political and legal debate in Washington. The White House has claimed that hostilities have ended following a ceasefire and no exchange of fire, but critics argue that ongoing military presence and operations in the region suggest the conflict is not fully over. With interpretations of the War Powers Resolution also in dispute, uncertainty remains over the real status of the war.

US-Iran War: Has The US War Against Iran Really Been 'Terminated'?

The War Powers Resolution has come under renewed focus amid escalating US–Iran tensions, as it limits the President’s ability to use military force without congressional approval. The law requires notification to Congress within 48 hours of military action and restricts prolonged engagements without authorization. As debates continue over executive versus legislative authority, concerns are rising about unchecked military escalation in sensitive regions like the Middle East.

Donald Trump has a confession: Melania Trump is not a fan of his signature rally move. Speaking to a crowd at The Villages in Florida, Trump on Friday (May 1) revealed that the first lady objects to his end-of-rally YMCA routine, which he described, to the crowd's amusement, as dancing to "what's sometimes referred to as the gay national anthem." He then proceeded to do exactly that, working through his familiar repertoire of fist pumps, waves and stage movements as the 1978 Village People track filled the arena. Also read | ‘He was in that very building’: Iran official REVEALS Mojtaba survived strike that killed Ali Khamenei, dismisses health rumours
"Not presidential"
"She goes, 'Darling, please don't dance. Donald Trump hints at reducing US troops in Italy and Spain as tensions grow over Iran policy, NATO divisions, and disagreements on Israel-related issues.

US President Donald Trump, on Thursday, April 30, indicated that he was open to the “probability” of reducing US troop levels in Italy and Spain, rebuking both countries on their stance on US operations against Iran and their support for opening the Strait of Hormuz. Speaking to the reporters at the Oval Office on Thursday, Trump said, “Yeah, probably, I probably will. Why shouldn’t I?” This comes just after a similar remark made by Trump at another one of the US's traditional NATO allies, Germany. Italy has not been of any help to us, and Spain has been horrible, absolutely horrible,” Trump told reporters. He further added that the US has been helping them with Ukraine, when Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine is primarily a NATO concern. US President Donald Trump on Thursday (Apr 30) insisted that anyone seeking the US presidency or vice presidency must be "forced to take a Cognitive Examination", arguing it would prevent candidates he deemed unfit from reaching the Oval Office. US President Donald Trump on Wednesday criticised NATO allies' response to US requests in Iran and Ukraine, but elaborately praised King Charles, after his speech to the US Congress. He said that King Charles was "fantastic" and called him a “great friend”. At the same time, he said that even though the US did not need NATO support, he was just checking their willingness to provide support. "I was very disappointed with the fact that when we called on them to give us a little hand, we didn't need it. I actually did it just to see whether or not they'd be there when we called on Nato to give us a hand with Ukraine, and in particular the most recent... we asked them to do certain things on Ukraine, and we also wanted them to do things with Iran," said Trump. US President Donald Trump criticises NATO allies over Iran and Ukraine support, praises King Charles, and signals possible troop withdrawal from Germany.

US President Donald Trump on Wednesday criticised NATO allies' response to US requests in Iran and Ukraine, but elaborately praised King Charles, after his speech to the US Congress. He said that King Charles was "fantastic" and called him a “great friend”. As Iran has failed to reach a ceasefire agreement, a cryptic social media post by US President Donald Trump has triggered fresh speculation. For years, the phrase “Winter is coming” from the popular television series Game of Thrones has symbolised an impending threat across a fictional world created by George R.R. Martin. Drawing comparisons to that sense of foreboding, Trump shared an AI-generated image of himself on the social media platform Truth Social, accompanied by the message: “THE STORM IS COMING. NOTHING CAN STOP WHAT IS COMING.”

The timing of this message has fuelled speculation about its possible connection to rising tensions involving Iran, particularly as reports suggest no ceasefire deal has been finalised. But, no official link has been established between the post and any specific policy move or military action, and interpretations remain speculative. According to a report by Axios, the US Central Command has prepared plans for a “short and powerful” wave of strikes targeting Iran, potentially including key infrastructure. The report added that Trump is expected to receive a briefing from CENTCOM chief Brad Cooper on Thursday (April 30) regarding possible military options. Also read: Trump shares map showing Hormuz as 'Strait of Trump' after 'cry uncle' jibe The development comes amid continued US pressure on Tehran, with Trump reportedly refusing to lift a naval blockade until Iran agrees to terms addressing Washington’s concerns over its nuclear programme. Earlier, the American president had rejected Iran’s proposal that included ending hostilities, reopening the Strait of Hormuz, and postponing nuclear deal discussions. Separately, The Wall Street Journal reported that Trump has instructed national security officials to prepare for a prolonged blockade of Iranian ports in a bid to force concessions on its nuclear ambitions.
