According to a report by Bloomberg, the two American citizens took millions of dollars from their victims by making them invest in fraudulent business and donations to political campaigns.

“We allege Li and Wang promised investors green cards, access to political figures, and dividends on their money. Tens of millions of dollars came in from investors and straw donors, who expected their money would bear fruit. However, only one promise came to fruition, the access to political power. Foreign money pollutes our immigration and democratic processes, and we must do all we can to protect them,” US Attorney Breon Peace in Brooklyn said according to the report.

The main leverage used by Li and Wang was a picture they took with Trump during a fundraising event in 2017. They used the picture to claim that they had access to former US President, and they charged $93,000 each for foreign visas and also took $600,000 in unlawful campaign contributions.

The United States Secret Service has received subpoenas from the House committee investigating the January 6 Capitol riot.

It comes after Joseph Cuffari, the inspector general of the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), told Congress that his office has had difficulties obtaining records of text messages from the Secret Service on the of the assault.

In a letter of the subpoena, the chairman of the January 6 committee told the agency's director James Murray to hand over the missing texts.

The letter, which is posted on the committee's website, said "The Select Committee seeks the relevant text messages, as well as any after action reports that have been issued in any and all divisions of the USSS pertaining or relating in any way to the events of January 6, 2021."

He said in a statement, "The Secret Service notified DHS OIG of the loss of certain phones' data, but confirmed to OIG that none of the texts it was seeking had been lost in the migration."&nbsp;

I've made up my mind, says Donald Trump on 2024 presidential run

Tesla CEO and billionaire Elon Musk and former US president Donald Trump are now trading jibes, the former on the social media platform he earlier was to buy. In a back-and-forth, both influential men have taken potshots at each other.&nbsp;

It was Trump who fired the first expletive-laden salvo and called Musk "another bull s*** artist". He was speaking at a rally. During his address he also claimed that Musk voted for him.

"You know what he (Elon Musk) said the other day that he never voted for Republicans. You know he told me he voted for me. So he is another bull s*** artist," Trump said at a Save America rally in Anchorage, Alaska.

Musk has denied the claim and has replied "not true" on a news video showing Trump's remarks.

The former US President also commented on the ongoing legal battle between Twitter and Musk. "Elon is not going to buy Twitter. Where did you hear that before? From me...He has got himself in a mess," Trump said.

Trump`s comment comes in the wake of an American billionaire`s decision to back off from the Twitter deal which has led to a lawsuit from the social media giant.&nbsp;

Last week, Musk said he is terminating his USD 44 billion deal to buy Twitter citing multiple breaches of the purchase agreement, according to a letter sent by the billionaire Tesla chief`s team to Twitter.

You know he told me he voted for me. So he is another bull s*** artist," Trump said at a Save America rally in Anchorage, Alaska. Musk has denied the claim and has replied "not true" on a news video showing Trump's remarks. The former US President also commented on the ongoing legal battle between Twitter and Musk. "Elon is not going to buy Twitter. Where did you hear that before? From me...He has got himself in a mess," Trump said. The tweet was sent a little more than an hour after Trump met at the White House with his lawyer Rudy Giuliani, former general Mike Flynn, and Sidney Powell, another attorney, for a strategy meeting that one aide described as "unhinged." Committee member Jamie Raskin said that Trump's "1:42 am tweet electrified and galvanized his supporters, especially the dangerous extremists in the Oath Keepers, the Proud Boys and other racist and white nationalist groups spoiling for a fight against the government." Representative Stephanie Murphy, another committee member, said the tweet "served as a call to action, and in some cases as a call to arms, for many of President Trump's most loyal supporters." Trump tried to contact witness In an explosive revelation, representative Liz Cheney, the vice-chair of the House committee investigating the attack on Congress, said that the 76-year-old Trump had recently attempted to contact a committee witness. The witness, who was not identified, did not take the call from Trump and alerted their lawyer, Cheney said, adding that the committee has "supplied that information to the Department of Justice." Both Stone and Flynn were pardoned by Trump after they were convicted by jurors or pleaded guilty in cases unrelated to January 6.

Invoking their Fifth Amendment right against self-incrimination before the House committee, they both denied saying anything related to the riot.

Out of these, while about one-third of respondents said he is too old, 45 percent said Biden should not make another bid because he is a bad president, and about one-quarter said because it is time for a change.

Mark Penn, the co-director of the Harvard CAPS–Harris Poll survey, said “President Biden may want to run again but the voters say ‘no’ to the idea of a second term, panning the job he is doing as president. Only 30 percent of Democrats would even vote for him in a Democratic presidential primary.”

The survey, which comes as the United States braces for mid-term elections in November, shows that 61 per cent of people believe that former President Trump should not run for the White House in 2024.

36 per cent of them believe that Trump is erratic while 33 percent said he would divide the country. Not only this, 30 per cent of the pollsters said he was responsible for the US Capitol riot in 2021.

Should Biden and Trump square off against each other in 2024, a majority of those polled said they would consider a moderate independent candidate.

With respondents giving him low marks on handling inflation, the economy, stimulating jobs and reacting to COVID-19, the survey found that Biden has an overall approval rating of 38 per cent.

Given the historical precedent that a first-term president’s party generally suffers losses in the midterm elections, Democrats are already bracing for losses this November.

Although it is unclear how the issue will compare to inflation and other concerns, Democrats have used abortion as an issue to galvanise voters.

The vice-chair of US House committee probing the last year’s January 6 riots said that it would not hesitate to prosecute Donald Trump and that it could make multiple referrals to the Department of Justice seeking criminal charges against the former president.

In an interview with ABC news on Sunday, vice-chair of committee Liz Cheney said that the House of Representatives select committee would soon make a formal recommendation of charges to take action against Trump.

"We'll make a decision as a committee about it," she said when asked about the prospect of referring Trump for prosecution.

"The Justice Department doesn't have to wait for the committee to make a criminal referral, and there could be more than one criminal referral," Cheney said.

Cheney slammed Trump's conduct during and after the Capitol riots, in which his supporters failed to prevent Congress from certifying Biden's 2020 election victory, including an incendiary speech immediately preceding the riot.

The Republican leader said, “If a president can engage in these kinds of activities, and the majority of the president's party looks away; or we as a country decide we're not actually going to take our constitutional obligations seriously, I think that's a much, a much more serious threat" than prosecuting him.”

"I really believe we have to make these decisions, as difficult as it is, apart from politics. We really have to think about these from the perspective of: What does it mean for the country?" she added.

The comments by Cheney come days after the testimony of former White House aide&nbsp;Cassidy Hutchinson who told the panel that Trump was angry when informed by his Secret Service that he couldn't accompany protesters to the Capitol on January 6.

Trump has denied responsibility for the Capitol attack but has said he would pardon those involved if he again becomes president.

Donald Trump, Donald Trump Jr. and Ivanka Trump are scheduled to testify under oath starting on July 15, and continuing the following week, in state Attorney General Letitia James three-year-old civil probe.

No immediate comments from Trump's and James' office were forthcoming, said Reuters.

Attorey Geneal James is investigating whether Trump Organization misled lenders and tax authorities, by inflating real estate values to get better loan terms and lowering those values to save on taxes.

Trumps argued before the court that testifying would result in violation of their constitutional rights. They said that their words could be used against them in a related criminal investigation led by Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg.

They had agreed to testify so long as the Court of Appeals did not issue a stay.

Trump, a Republican, has repeatedly denied wrongdoing. He has also called James' probe a politically motivated witch hunt, and James a racist. James is a Democrat, and is Black.&nbsp;

After former US attorney general Bill Barr lashed out at former President Donald Trump, the latter has now blasted the Capitol riot hearings as a "mockery of justice."

Slamming for Democratic-led panel by calling it "a Kangaroo Court, hoping to distract the American people from the great pain they are experiencing," Trump said that it should instead be focusing on the country's larger problems.

He added: "The truth is that Americans showed up in Washington, DC in massive numbers... on January 6th, 2021, to hold their elected officials accountable for the obvious signs of criminal activity throughout the Election."
