Even as Donald Trump faces criminal charges over hush money paid to former porn star Stormy Daniels, the Manhattan grand jury is looking into evidence of another separate financial transaction in which money was paid to a Playboy model to keep mum about her alleged affair with the 76-year-old during the 2016 presidential election.

According to reports, McDougal was paid about $150,000 by the publisher of the National Enquirer magazine to buy her story about the alleged affair.

The incident bears resemblance to the Stormy Daniel case, in which she was paid $130,000 by Michael Cohen, Trump’s former lawyer, to keep her from revealing her sexual encounter with the former president.

Donald Trump's arrest delayed yet again; reports claim indictment could take weeks

Former US president Donald Trump will be arraigned before New York Supreme Court Judge Juan Merchan next Tuesday, his lawyer Susan Necheles told AFP.

"We do expect the arraignment to occur on Tuesday," Necheles said in an email, without elaborating.

At the arraignment, he will be presented with the charges he is facing. The judge will then decide whether he should be released on bail or taken into custody.

CNN reported that the 76-year-old Republican faces&nbsp;more than 30 counts related to business fraud in an indictment from a Manhattan grand jury.&nbsp;

Meanwhile, hours after the Manhattan jury announced his indictment, Trump called the jury’s decision to indict him “political persecution and election interference at the highest level.”

In a lengthy statement on his Truth Social platform, Trump blamed the left saying that they are ‘destroying the Make America Great Again movement’.

“The Democrats have lied, cheated and stolen in their obsession with trying to ‘Get Trump’, but now they’ve done the unthinkable — indicting a completely innocent person in an act of blatant Election Interference,” Trump said.

He accused Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg of “doing Joe Biden’s dirty work, ignoring the murders and burglaries and assaults he should be focused on.”

ChatGPT's above response reflected Trump's wordings from his July 4, 2020 remarks in which the then-US president attacked what he said was 'radical left', at the 'Salute to America' event.&nbsp;

A US judge has ordered former president Donald Trump’s ex-aides to appear before the grand jury investigating the notorious attack on the US Capitol building. This comes&nbsp;even as the former president attempted to block their&nbsp;testimony. As per a report by ABC, Trump's aides from his time in the White House have been asked to testify before the federal grand jury investigating the Capitol riots that shook the US on January 6,&nbsp;2021. The jury is looking into the failed attempt by Trump and his allies to overturn the results of the 2020 presidential elections. Trump has reportedly sought to prevent his former aides from testifying by invoking ‘executive privilege’.

Citing multiple sources, ABC reports that US judge Beryl Howell last week struck down Trump's claims of executive privilege via a sealed order.

The following former aides have been ordered to testify: White House chief of staff&nbsp;Mark Meadows, former Director of National Intelligence John Ratcliffe, former deputy chief of staff Dan Scavino, former top Department of Homeland Security official Ken Cuccinelli, along with former advisers Stephen Miller, Nick Luna and John McEntee.

According to the letter, the chairmen's request for communications, records, and testimony constituted&nbsp;"unlawful incursion into New York's sovereignty."

Stephanie Clifford, aka Stormy Daniels, is an adult film director and actress who claims she had a sexual encounter with Trump in 2006 and was paid to remain silent about it.

Trump described the payment a "simple private transaction" and denied ever having an affair with Daniels. He has argued that he did not break any laws and claimed that the probe was politically motivated.&nbsp;

Announcing his first veto on Twitter, Biden wrote that the Republican bill "would risk your retirement savings by making it illegal to consider risk factors MAGA House Republicans don't like."

Here, MAGA stands for Make America Great Again, a political slogan Donald Trump and his followers popularised.&nbsp;

"Your plan manager should be able to protect your hard-earned savings," he added.

Democrats, however, contest that as long as the investment fund is meeting its obligations to its beneficiaries, the policy is neutral on how the said ESG factors are taken into consideration.&nbsp;

The Republican bill, as per Reuters, cleared the US congress earlier this month. The US Senate voted &nbsp;50-46 to adopt the resolution which seeks to overturn a US Labor Department rule, making it easier for fund managers to consider ESG factors, etc.

The former leader of the free world has himself said that he might be arrested. The charges? Alleged payment of USD 130,000 to porn star Stormy Daniels in 2016 as hush money to hide an affair with him. On his social media platform Truth Social, Trump has already asked his supporters to protest against his possible arrest. The last time he made such an appeal, hundreds of his supporters had stormed the US Capitol Building on January 6, 2021.

If an indictment is filed against Trump, he would be the first sitting or former US president ever to be charged with a crime. Trump supporters were scheduled to protest in New York later Monday as Manhattan district attorney Alvin Bragg weighs charging the ex-president&nbsp;

Bragg, an elected Democrat, has not confirmed any plans to indict, but has indicated that prosecutors are nearing a decision by putting key witnesses in front of a grand jury in recent weeks and offering Trump the opportunity to testify.

"They are MANY years beyond the Statute of Limitations which, in this instance, is TWO YEARS. More importantly, THERE WAS NO CRIME!!!" Trump wrote on his Truth Social platform Monday.

The New York Times reported that on Sunday, more than a dozen senior New York officials met senior safety aides of city mayor Eric Adams to discuss security and contingency plans for any protests.

NBC News said that police and other law enforcement agencies had conducted "preliminary security assessments," including placing a security perimeter around the Manhattan Criminal Court where Trump would likely appear before a judge.

"The NYPD's state of readiness remains a constant at all times, for all contingencies. Our communications and coordination with our partners in government and in law enforcement are fundamental tenets of our commitment to public safety," a police spokesperson told AFP.

Senior Democrats have warned that Trump's calls could trigger a repeat of the violence that his supporters unleashed on the US Capitol in January 2021.

The New York Young Republican Club announced a "peaceful protest" of Bragg's "heinous attack" on Trump for 6:00 pm (2000 GMT) in lower Manhattan Monday but it was unclear how many would turn out.

Trump has blasted the investigation as a "witch hunt," while his vice-president Mike Pence described the probe as a "politically charged prosecution."
