Indian middle-order batsman Ambati Rayudu has announced retirement from all forms of cricket on Wednesday. Rayudu has written to&nbsp;The Board Of Control For Cricket In India (BCCI).&nbsp;

The decision came after he was snubbed for the Cricket World Cup 2019, which is underway in England and Wales.&nbsp;

He was not named in India's 15 member squad as all-rounder Vijay Shankar got the opportunity to play for Team India.&nbsp;

India made two replacements during the tournament as Shikhar Dhawan and Vijay Shankar were ruled out due to injury but still, Rishabh Pant and Mayank Agarwal's names were preferred over Rayudu.

Defending champions United States reached the women's World Cup final for the fifth time after an incident-packed 2-1 win over England, who missed a late penalty, on Tuesday.

In a tournament that has earned unprecedented attention, the much-anticipated game certainly delivered with an abundance of excitement and relentless effort, topped by moments of wonderful skill.

It was business as usual for the three-times World Cup winners but for England there was agony as skipper Steph Houghton missed an 84th-minute penalty that could have pushed the game into extra time.

After a powerful start from the Americans, Christen Press, replacing the absent Megan Rapinoe, opened the scoring in the 10th minute with a fine header but the Lionesses fought back, levelling nine minutes later with Ellen White's sixth goal of the tournament.

The US&nbsp;restored their advantage in the 31st minute through Alex Morgan's header from Lindsey Horan's perfectly floated ball -- a goal which Morgan, on her 30th birthday, celebrated with a mocking 'sip of tea' gesture.

England thought they had levelled in the 69th minute, through another excellent White finish, but the goal was ruled out for offside by VAR video review.

VAR did provide England with a lifeline though, a penalty awarded for a foul on White, but Houghton's soft spot kick was saved by Alyssa Naeher.

England had defender Millie Bright sent off for a second booking three minutes from the end.

The drama on a remarkable night began before the game when the team-sheets showed that Rapinoe, who had scored four goals in the last two games, had been left on the bench, most likely with an injury although the absence was not explained by US&nbsp;team officials.

There was an unwelcome surprise for England too with goalkeeper Karen Bardsley missing out with a hamstring injury and Carly Telford drafted in.

As so often, the Americans were fast out of the traps and launched a wave of early attacks and high pressing which England's defence struggled to cope with.

Telford was called into early action to parry a fierce shot from Rose Lavelle after the midfielder had slipped the ball through the legs of Bright and, luckily for the Lionesses, Morgan blasted the loose ball over the bar.

The early lead the defending champions had threatened came in the 10th minute when Kelley O'Hara whipped in a cross from the right and Press lost her marker Lucy Bronze and headed firmly past Telford.

With the US&nbsp;fully exploiting the space they were given in midfield, England were in danger of letting the game slip out of their control but against the run of play they levelled in superb style.

Keira Walsh's sweeping cross-field pass found Beth Mead on the left and her ball inside was met first time by White, who lifted a side-foot shot in off the far post.

The Lionesses were back in the game but they soon needed Telford again to keep out a fierce snap-shot from the excellent Lavelle.

But the quality of the Americans in the final third was displayed in perfect fashion when Press collected a ball from deep on the left flank and fed Horan, whose delightful lofted pass was met by Morgan with a pinpoint header that flashed past Telford.

Walsh forced Naeher into a full-stretch save with a powerful strike from 20 metres out but England needed the tactical adjustments that coach Phil Neville made at the break.

The improved approach looked to have paid dividends when Jill Scott's defence-splitting through ball was slotted home by White but to the agony of the Lionesses the VAR signal was made and the review showed the England striker offside by the tightest of margins.

The next time the signal was made for review, it was after White went down in the area under challenge from Becky Sauerbrunn and after some delay the Brazilian referee pointed to the spot.

But Houghton, so dependable in so many ways for England, let the nerves get to her and a soft kick was easily saved by Naeher.

It was the killer blow for England and a major let-off for the Americans. When Bright was dismissed any chance of a late upset went with her.

Indian opener Rohit Sharma broke MS Dhoni's record of hitting most One-Day International sixes by an Indian player&nbsp;in Tuesday's league match of Cricket World Cup 2019 against Bangladesh.&nbsp;

Rohit hit five giant sixes in his 104-run knock at Edgbaston and took his tally to 230 to set the record of hitting most ODI sixes by an Indian batsman in ODI format.&nbsp;

Rohit also became the first Indian batsman to hit four centuries in World Cup tournament.&nbsp;

Overall, he is the second player to hit four tons in a World Cup edition as previously, Sri Lanka's Kumar Sangakkara had achieved this feat in the World Cup 2015.&nbsp;

In the match against Bangladesh, India opted to bat first post winning the toss. Sharma survived an early scare to take control against the bowlers.

Sharma, who was dropped on nine by Tamim Iqbal at deep mid-wicket, reached his second successive ton with a single off Shakib Al Hasan, celebrating by flipping his bat in the air.

But he was caught at extra cover by Liton Das off the bowling of Soumya Sarkar for 104, ending a 180-run opening stand -- the best for the first wicket in this World Cup -- with KL Rahul.&nbsp;

<a href="https://www.wionews.com/sports/live-updates-cricket-world-cup-2019-match-39-sri-lanka-vs-west-indies-231990">Sri Lanka beat West Indies by 23 runs</a> in the Cricket World Cup on Monday as Nicholas Pooran's counter-attacking knock of 118 went in vain for the Caribbean side.

Chasing 339 to win, West Indies lost Sunil Ambris and Shai Hope to Sri Lanka pace spearhead Lasith Malinga's fierce spell with the new ball.

Chris Gayle and Shimron Hetmyer added 49 but wickets fell at regular intervals to leave the Windies on the brink of another defeat at 145-5.

After failing to build on solid starts for the majority of the tournament, Pooran went on to make his maiden ODI hundred.

The 23-year-old left-hander combined with tailender Fabian Allen in an 83-run stand before Allen was run out for 51.

Pooran continued to find boundaries to set up a tense finale before he was caught behind off experienced all-rounder Angelo Mathews, who was bowling in an ODI for the first time since December 2017.

"Angelo put his hands up and said 'OK I will bowl two overs'. He has that confidence. He did the job," captain Dimuth Karunaratne said.

Malinga returned to trap Oshane Thomas lbw for his third wicket as West Indies finished on 315-9.

Although Sri Lanka could beat India in their final group match to potentially join England on 10 points, they would miss out on qualification having won four games to England's five.

However, captain Karunaratne said he was pleased with the confidence levels in the Lankan dressing room as they look to finish the tournament on a high.

"To win any match is a great feeling. It gives us lots of confidence," he added.

Sri Lanka beat West Indies by 23 runs in Cricket World Cup

Australia paceman Pat Cummins has fired a warning at the nation's <a href="https://www.wionews.com/search?q=cricket+world+cup">Cricket World Cup</a> rivals, saying the champions may have "clicked" but are yet to put in a complete performance at the global showpiece.

Aaron Finch's Australia booked their place in the semi-finals early with a comprehensive win over England and carried on the form with another convincing victory over New Zealand at Lord's on Saturday.

A relaxed Australia will head into their final round-robin match against already-eliminated South Africa in Manchester on Saturday with the benefit of a week's rest before bigger tests await.

"I think just everything's clicked, the batting, the bowling, our game plan is the way we've wanted to play," Cummins told reporters.

"Even just everyone being comfortable in their roles and comfortable around each other. I think it takes time but everyone's in a really good place.

"The thing we have spoken about, we have managed to scrape home wins without really putting through a complete performance," Cummins added.

"With each game, we have got a little bit better."

Led by pace spearhead Mitchell Starc, Australia's quicks have bowled superbly throughout the tournament but have gone up a level in recent matches, skittling England's vaunted batting lineup for 221 before routing New Zealand for 157.

Jason Behrendorff's promotion to open the bowling with Starc, with Cummins switched to first change bowler, has been key to the improvement.

Cummins has only nabbed one wicket from the last two matches but has proved highly effective at keeping the batsmen pinned down during the middle overs.

He captured veteran Ross Taylor's wicket and conceded a miserly 14 runs from his six overs' work against New Zealand.

"I think it's a massive change," he said of the shift from new ball to first change bowler. "I think it's a lot different to say red ball cricket where the ball kind of stays hard and there might be some swing on offer.

"I think it's kind of outside of those first eight to 10 overs, there is no swing, the ball is not as hard, normally the batters are set.

"Jason and Starcy have been brilliant up front. My role is to just try and hold them a little bit and hopefully they take a risk. It (feels) like I have done that job pretty well."

The match against South Africa will be a dead rubber but also the first that opener David Warner and former skipper Steve Smith have had against Faf du Plessis's side since they were suspended for ball-tampering during the Cape Town test in March, 2018.

Warner and Smith, whose one-year ban expired at the end of March, have been jeered at stadiums throughout the tournament but have not let it affect them, with the former leading the tournament's runs list with 516 and the latter chipping in 287.

Cummins did not feel the ball-tampering history would add much significance to the Proteas game.

"I know Dave and Smithy have played quite a bit with (South Africa's players) in IPL and played heaps of times before so I wouldn't have thought so," he said.

The&nbsp;International Cricket Council (ICC) has confirmed&nbsp;Mayank Agarwal's name as&nbsp;a replacement&nbsp;for all-rounder Vijay Shankar, who has been ruled out due to injury.&nbsp;

Twitterati not pleased on Mayank Agarwal's choice over Ambati Rayudu as Vijay Shankar's replacement

India will persist with Rishabh Pant at number four in the batting order to avail the left-right advantage in the middle overs, assistant coach Sanjay Bangar said ahead of Tuesday's Cricket World Cup group match against Bangladesh.&nbsp;

The twice champions were left without a left-hander in the top half of their batting order after a fractured finger ended opened Shikhar Dhawan's World Cup.&nbsp;

Pant was flown in as Dhawan's replacement and the 21-year-old finally made his debut in <a href="https://www.wionews.com/sports/world-cup-england-end-indias-unbeaten-run-to-revive-semis-hopes-231858">Sunday's loss to England</a>, scoring 32 after some nervous running between the wickets early in his knock.&nbsp;

"I felt he had a decent innings," Bangar told reporters at Edgbaston. "He got 32 and played a couple of god shots, got a partnership going (with Hardik Pandya), so we're going to persist with him."&nbsp;

All-rounder Vijay Shankar, who was originally picked in the squad to bat at number four, has been ruled out of the remainder of the ongoing World Cup with a toe injury, the team said on Monday.&nbsp;

"The team management was feeling the absence of a left-hander since Shikhar got injured," Bangar said, explaining the decision to send Pant ahead of Pandya on Sunday.&nbsp;

"It was a ploy to use a right-left combination in the middle overs to upset the bowling plans. I feel because of that Adil Rashid could not bowl the number of overs he'd have usually bowled."

Known for his six-hitting prowess, Pant hit a century in an Oval test last year and also smashed an unbeaten 159 against Australia in Sydney in January.

Sunday's match was only his sixth one-day international but Bangar said the time Pant spent with the World Cup squad has prepared him for the challenges ahead.

"He's spent close to two weeks with us now. He has done well at the international level, especially in the test format. The one-day format is slightly newer to him," said Bangar, who played 12 tests and 15 ODIs for India.

"We're trying to help him with the various mindsets and the roles that come with the middle order job, and the importance of the right-left combination... so straightaway he can put the pressure back on the spinners.

"It can help the team in a big way. On those lines, we've been communicating with him."

India, second in the table with 11 points, need a victory in their final two group matches to qualify for the semi-finals.

World Cup: Former Pakistani cricketer Waqar Younis targets 'sportsmanship' in India vs England match

India's winning streak in the Cricket World Cup 2019 came to an end after <a href="https://www.wionews.com/sports/world-cup-england-end-indias-unbeaten-run-to-revive-semis-hopes-231858">England defeated the Virat Kohli-led side by 31 runs</a> in Sunday's group match&nbsp;at Edgbaston.&nbsp;

Despite Rohit Sharma's century and Virat Kohli's 66, India failed to chase down the 338-run target.&nbsp;

Debutant Rishabh Pant, who looked nervous in the start, came in to bat at number fourth spot in the absence of Vijay Shankar and scored 32 runs off 29 balls.&nbsp;

During the post-match interview, Rohit was asked, whether he was surprised to see Pant ahead of the in-form Hardik Pandya.&nbsp;

Rohit's gave a hilarious reply, saying, "Not really (surprised) because you all wanted Rishabh Pant to play right? Right from the time we left India, you all kept on asking where is Rishabh Pant. There he is at No.4."

India's winning streak in the Cricket World Cup 2019 came to an end after England defeated the Virat Kohli-led side by 31 runs in Sunday's group match at Edgbaston. Despite Rohit Sharma's century and Virat Kohli's 66, India failed to chase down the 338-run target. Debutant Rishabh Pant, who looked nervous in the start, came in to bat at number fourth spot in the absence of Vijay Shankar and scored 32 runs off 29 balls. During the post-match interview, Rohit was asked, whether he was surprised to see Pant ahead of the in-form Hardik Pandya. Rohit's gave a hilarious reply, saying, "Not really (surprised) because you all wanted Rishabh Pant to play right? Right from the time we left India, you all kept on asking where is Rishabh Pant. There he is at No.4." India received another major blow as <a href="https://www.wionews.com/photos/major-takeaways-from-indias-historic-world-cup-win-over-pakistan-in-manchester-227794#vijay-shankar-joins-elite-list-227793">all-rounder Vijay Shankar</a> has been ruled out of the Cricket World Cup 2019 owing&nbsp;to a toe injury.&nbsp;

Shankar had suffered the injury when Jasprit Bumrah's ball hit him during a net session. It&nbsp;had not looked very serious but it looks to have been aggravated.

India have requested governing body International Cricket Council to approve Mayank Agarwal as Shankar's replacement.

"Vijay Shankar sustained a non-displaced fracture of the left big toe, which will require a minimum of three weeks to heal," the team said in a statement.

"The injury rules him out of the ongoing World Cup.

"The Indian team management has requested the ICC to consider Mayank Agarwal as his replacement."

Originally picked to play at the number four batting spot, Shankar has managed scores of 15 not out, 29 and 14 in his three matches in the tournament.&nbsp;

In India's group match against England on Sunday, wicketkeeper-batsman Rishabh Pant had replaced Shankar and made his World Cup debut.&nbsp;

Pant flew in to join the squad two weeks ago as a replacement for India's first choice opener Shikhar Dhawan after he fractured his hand.&nbsp;

"Vijay Shankar has a toe niggle, Rishabh Pant is in. He brings in a lot of fearlessness. Once he gets to 20, then he's unstoppable," Kohli had said.&nbsp;

In India's group match against Pakistan, Vijay Shankar had impressed with his bowling talent when on his first ball, he had opener Imam-ul-Haq lbw for seven.&nbsp;

World Cup: India's Vijay Shankar ruled out of tournament due to toe injury

Former Pakistani speedster Shoaib Akhtar said that for the first time since Indo-Pak Partition, his country supported India in Sunday's World Cup group match against England at Edgbaston.&nbsp;

Eoin Morgan-led England reignited their World Cup campaign after <a href="https://www.wionews.com/sports/world-cup-england-end-indias-unbeaten-run-to-revive-semis-hopes-231858">defeating India 31 runs</a> and they toppled Pakistan to regain their fourth position in the points table.&nbsp;

The result of the match had the potential of changing other teams' fortune in the World Cup as Bangladesh and Pakistan are also bidding to enter the semi-finals.&nbsp;

"India had five wickets in hands, so I thought they will take chances but they did not. I think India played very slow there. Anyways, it was our desire as Pakistanis and we were supporting India for the first time since partition, but India were unable to win and whosoever had performed from the Indian side, he would have become our hero as well," Akhtar said in a YouTube video.&nbsp;

Indian skipper Virat Kohli too expressed his thoughts on the support Team India is getting from Pakistan during the&nbsp;England clash. &nbsp;

Kohli said, "To be honest I haven't seen what's been happening outside. But I do believe the Pakistani fans will be supporting us, which is a rare thing (smiles)."&nbsp;

Opting to bat first, England posted a commanding total of 337 which they defended easily to secure a much-needed victory.&nbsp;

Rohit Sharma (102) scored a brilliant century and Kohli scored 66 which was not enough for the Indian side to chase the target.

India's middle order yet again came under immense criticism following their defeat. MS Dhoni was again criticised for his slow-paced inning as he scored 42 runs off 31 deliveries.&nbsp;

Although his strike rate was above hundred, it was not enough to help India chase the mammoth target set by the hosts.&nbsp;

Akhtar also opined that India's middle order is a concern for the team.

"Now India will have to think about their middle order as they are getting exposed again and again. They are unable to score there and it will be a worrying point for India in the coming days," he said.&nbsp;

Kohli, however, loved the designed and gave it an eight out of 10. "The fit is great, it's a nice change," he said.&nbsp;

England opener Jason Roy is set to return from a torn hamstring in Sunday's crucial Cricket World Cup match against India, said captain Eoin Morgan who is optimistic quick Jofra Archer will continue to play through a side strain.

England need all hands on deck after back-to-back defeats complicated their semi-finals passage ahead of their last two group assignments against India and New Zealand -- teams they have not beaten in World Cup since 1992.

Roy smashed 153 against Bangladesh but has since sat out with the injury, while replacement James Vince managed 40 in three innings.

"Jason is preparing to play tomorrow," Morgan told reporters at Edgbaston on Saturday.

"Providing he gets through to today's practice and tomorrow morning unscathed, we think that he might be fit to play."

Roy has been crucial to England's rise to the top of one-day rankings and Morgan said he would risk playing the 28-year-old unless it meant long-term injury for the opener.

"Depending on the significance of the risk. If it was going to rule him out long term, absolutely not. If it was going to rule him out for a couple of weeks, yes," he said.

Archer did not bowl on Friday but rolled his arms on Saturday.

"We're going to see how he comes through today. It's the same thing he's been playing with the last three games. So we'll see how he comes through today," Morgan said.

Many saw the team under Morgan as the strongest England side in a World Cup but defeats by Sri Lanka and Australia have intensified pressure on the hosts.

Morgan admitted his team, who had made it a habit to post 300-plus score heading into the tournament, have struggled to adjust to pitches where teams have successfully defended sub-250 totals but refused to blame his team mates.

"I can't fault the commitment or application that the guys have produced in every single game," Morgan said.

"Where we've let ourselves down as a group is adapting to conditions. It's been a bigger challenge in this World Cup than previous bilateral series that we've played.&nbsp;

"So tomorrow's going to be the exact same. We're going to have to adapt to conditions, adapt to playing against a strong side in India."

World Cup: Eoin Morgan optimistic on Jason Roy and Jofra Archer against India

<a href="https://www.wionews.com/sports/new-zealands-trent-boult-takes-world-cup-hat-trick-against-australia-231583">Trent Boult became the first New Zealand bowler to claim a hat-trick</a> in the World Cup but it could not stop champions Australia still cruising to an 86-run victory in Saturday's rematch of the 2015 final between the trans-Tasman rivals at Lord's.

Boult dismissed Usman Khawaja, Mitchell Starc and Jason Behrendorff in successive deliveries but Australia, who had been reeling at 92-5 in the 22nd over, managed to post a competitive 243-9 after electing to bat.

It turned out that each of Boult's three hat-trick victims played significant part in Australia's victory.

Khawaja (88), who was dropped at slip before he could open his account, and Alex Carey (71) had combined to arrest their slide before Bolt (4-51) wrecked their lower order.

Behrendorff then dealt early blows before Starc spearheaded New Zealand's rout, claiming 5-26 as the Kiwis were shot out for 157 in the 44th over with not one of their players managing a half-century.

Australia, who had already secured a place in the semi-finals, remain on top with 14 points from eight matches, three points ahead of India who have played six.

New Zealand remain third with 11 points from eight matches.

Earlier, Aaron Finch's decision to bat first appeared to backfire as Boult dismissed the in-form Australia captain in the fifth over.

The champions lost four more wickets before reaching 100 but it could easily have been worse if Martin Guptill had not spilled Khawaja in the slips when the batsman was yet to open his account.

Carey and Khawaja then rebuilt the Australian innings with a sixth-wicket stand of 107, which Kane Williamson broke when he had Carey caught at cover.

Boult claimed the tournament's second hat-trick, after India's Mohammed Shami achieved the feat against Afghanistan, but Australia put enough on board for their bowlers.

The Australians bowled with lot of purpose and Behrendorff denied New Zealand a strong start, dismissing both the openers, Henry Nicholls and Guptill, cheaply.

Key batsman Williamson and Ross Taylor (30) tried to steady the innings but the wheels came off their innings after the Kiwi captain's attempt to play his trademark dab shot resulted in his dismissal for 40.

Starc then mowed down the New Zealand lower order to consolidate his position as the tournament's leading wicket-taker with 24 victims.

England's opening batsman Jason Roy said that it is good to be back after he returned from hamstring injury to the starting line up to play against India at Edgbaston on Sunday.&nbsp;

Roy has missed the hosts' past three matches after suffering a hamstring tear in the field against the West Indies and his presence has been badly missed as England slumped to defeat against Sri Lanka and Australia.

In the match against India, England posted 337/7 after opting to bat first under a slightly overcast Birmingham sky. &nbsp;&nbsp;

"Good to be back out there. Spending time on the bench isn't great. Jonny (Bairstow) played extremely well. We have put a competitive score on the board... hope we can bowl well," said Jason Roy after the end of first innings.&nbsp;

Roy scored 66 runs off 57 balls in the match before losing his wicket to Kuldeep Yadav when Ravindra Jadeja took a stunning catch to dismiss him.&nbsp;

"I ran well between the wickets (the injury wasn't an issue). I kept it at about 80%, which is the target from the doctor. so I feel good."

"We got a good start, we didn't want to put a target on us. We just wanted to bat positively. We are pretty happy with 337. With the sort of bowling attack we have we should be alright. Fingers crossed," Roy added.&nbsp;

At the time of toss, Kohli said, "To be honest I haven't seen what's been happening outside. But I do believe the Pakistani fans will be supporting us, which is a rare thing (smiles)." <a href="https://www.wionews.com/sports/for-one-game-its-fine-virat-kohli-reacts-on-indias-away-jersey-231538">Virat Kohli</a>-led team will put on a different jersey other than their usual blue one in Sunday's World Cup group match against England at Edgbaston.&nbsp;

Ahead of the World Cup, International Cricket Council (ICC) had issued a guideline, requiring teams to have two different uniforms for all its televised tournaments except hosts England.&nbsp;

Keeping ICC's verdict in mind, India will be wearing an orange-blue jersey which was unveiled on Friday to distinguish themselves from hosts England who wear a lighter version of blue.&nbsp;

An ICC source revealed how orange colour was selected.&nbsp;

"Colour options were given to BCCI and they chose the colour combination that looked the best to them. The whole idea is to be different from blue as England also wears the same shade of blue as India," an ICC source told ANI.&nbsp;

"Also the design (orange) is taken from India's old T20 jersey which had orange in it. The designers who are sitting in the USA designed this jersey from something that already existed and not something completely new that fans don't identify with," the source added.&nbsp;

During the pre-match press conference, Virat said, "For one game, it's fine. I don't think permanently we'd be heading in that direction because blue has always been our colour, very proud to wear that. For a change and looking at the occasion, it's a very smart kit."&nbsp;

Kohli, however, loved the designed and gave it an eight out of 10. "The fit is great, it's a nice change," he said.&nbsp;

Just like India, few other teams like Afghanistan, South Africa, Sri Lanka appeared in different colour jerseys apart from their regular one.&nbsp;

For example, Afghanistan changed their blue kit to red in three matches, South Africa, who usually wear green, chose gold for two matches while Sri Lanka swapped their blue for yellow for a couple of games.&nbsp;

Captain Sarfaraz Ahmed (18) and Shadab Khan (11) were run-out to set up an intense finale but Wasim and Wahab Riaz (15) ensured there were no further hiccups as they chased down the target with two balls to spare.

The International Cricket Council has said it will take action against any fans involved in "scuffles" before the Cricket World Cup match between <a href="https://www.wionews.com/sports/live-updates-cricket-world-cup-2019-match-36-pakistan-vs-afghanistan-231448">Pakistan and Afghanistan</a> at Headingley on Saturday.&nbsp;

Videos shared on social media showed supporters of both countries fighting outside the venue and security personnel being forced to intervene, while ESPNcricinfo reported that at least two fans had been evicted from the ground.

"We are aware of some scuffles among a minority of fans and are currently working with the venue security team and the local police force, West Yorkshire Police, to ensure there are no further incidents," an ICC spokesperson said.

"We do not condone this type of behaviour, and will take appropriate action against any anti-social behaviour that spoils the enjoyment for the majority of fans."

Local media reported that the trouble started when a plane towing the message 'Justice for Balochistan' flew over the venue. Balochistan is the largest province in Pakistan and borders Afghanistan to the north.

The International Cricket Council has said it will take action against any fans involved in "scuffles" before the Cricket World Cup match between Pakistan and Afghanistan at Headingley on Saturday. "We do not condone this type of behaviour, and will take appropriate action against any anti-social behaviour that spoils the enjoyment for the majority of fans." Local media reported that the trouble started when a plane towing the message 'Justice for Balochistan' flew over the venue. Balochistan is the largest province in Pakistan and borders Afghanistan to the north. ICC Source: Fight broke out b/w Pak&Afghan fans in Leeds because a plane was flown which had Balochistan slogans. World Cup: ICC to take action after fans clash at Pakistan-Afghanistan match

<a href="https://www.wionews.com/search?q=virat+kohli">Virat Kohli</a> shows no signs of pressure when he bats but the India captain says it's because he knows how to fake it.

Arguably the greatest batsman of his generation, Kohli also has possibly the toughest job in international cricket - of captaining the national team of a cricket-crazy nation of 1.4 billion.

The 30-year-old, however, seems immune to pressure that comes with his twin roles as could be gauged from his nerveless half-centuries in each of India's last four matches which includes a narrow escape against Afghanistan.

"That would be a lie if I say I'm not under pressure. I'm probably good at hiding it," Kohli told reporters ahead of Sunday's group match against England.

"Everyone feels butterflies in their stomach. I'm glad that I feel like that. If I don't, then probably I don't have enough motivation to play anymore.

"I look forward to that, and maybe that's why my body language is the way it is. But in all honesty, everyone feels pressure. It's just the way you portray it to the opposition is what makes all the difference."

In January, Kohli became the first player to win all three major ICC awards and completed 20,000 international runs in their win against West Indies, quickest to the mark.

India, the tournament's only unbeaten team, take on an English side who are under pressure after back-to-back defeats jeopardised their semi-final prospects.

Eoin Morgan's men need to beat India and New Zealand -- two teams they have not defeated in World Cup since 1992 -- to make the semi-finals without bothering about other results.

Kohli admitted being surprised by the struggle of the hosts who entered the tournament as the top-ranked ODI team.

"Everyone is a bit surprised because we thought England is probably going to dominate in their own conditions," he said.

"But as I said at the beginning of the tournament, pressure is going to be a massive factor and low scores are going to be defended.

"We got a scare from Afghanistan... So you can't take anything for granted."

Kohli suggested India would field an unchanged squad with quick Bhuvneshwar Kumar continuing his recovery from a tight hamstring and Vijay Shankar retaining his place at number four.

Mohammed Shami, replacing Kumar, has claimed eight wickets in two matches to present India with a pace bowling dilemma.

"Shami, in the last year and a half, has come around amazingly well. I've never seen him fitter... he has that hunger within him, and he's bowling really, really well at the moment.

"Bhuvi is recovering very fast. When he gets fit, it's going to be a bit of a headache for us to see what we're going to do."

Indian skipper Virat Kohli explains how he fakes being calm

Former captain Michael Vaughan on Friday branded <a href="https://www.wionews.com/sports/world-cup-people-are-waiting-for-us-to-fail-says-englands-jonny-bairstow-231113">Jonny Bairstow's claim</a> that people are waiting for England to fail at the World Cup as "negative" and "pathetic".

England opener Bairstow was responding to criticism from Vaughan and fellow ex-skipper Kevin Pietersen after the hosts suffered consecutive losses against Sri Lanka and Australia.

Pietersen said current skipper Eoin Morgan was "scared" in the 64-run defeat by Australia, while Bairstow was played a radio clip of Vaughan saying England could be heading for their worst World Cup.

Morgan's side now face an uphill task to reach the semi-finals, with tough matches to come against India and New Zealand.

"People were waiting for us to fail," said Bairstow. "They are not willing us on to win, in many ways, they are waiting for you to get that loss, so they can jump on your throat.

"It's a typical English thing to do, in every sport."

But Vaughan hit back on Friday, saying the team had huge backing.

"How wrong can @jbairstow21 be," Vaughan posted on his Instagram account.

"Never has England team had so much support but it's you and your team that has disappointed Jonny ..&nbsp;

"WIN 2 games and you are in the semis .. With this negative, pathetic mindset I am concerned though.. it’s not the media’s fault you have lost 3 games .. !!!"

England, who have never won the World Cup, entered the competition as favourites but their much-vaunted batting line-up has stuttered badly in the past two games.

The host nation are fourth in the group table -- the last of the semi-final places -- but are looking over their shoulder at Pakistan, Sri Lanka and Bangladesh.

Bairstow's England comments 'pathetic', says Michael Vaughan

KL Rahul is "disappointed" at not being able to convert his starts but not at all "worried" as he believes that he is doing a lot of things right.

Rahul had scores of 26, 11 not out, 57, 30 and 48 in five completed games and barring the one against Australia where he came in at the fag end of the innings, he has got out after getting set.

"It's a bit disappointing," the talented Karnataka batsman said, accepting that he should have gone on to score a few more runs.&nbsp;

"I am doing the hard work in getting through the first 10 or 15 overs, or as an opening batsman, scoring the first 25, 30 runs, which is the hardest. (But then getting out) when the time comes to accelerate and may take the game deeper, so a bit disappointed that I have not been able to do that," Rahul lamented.

He will certainly assess and do the course correction but he does not want to brood over what has already done.

"But again I can sit, I will sit and assess, but it won't worry me that much because there are a lot of things I'm doing right, and I know that the mistakes I've made I can learn from them and get better," Rahul said at the post-match press conference after India beat the West Indies by 125 runs on Thursday.

He got out playing a reverse sweep to off-spinner Mohammed Nabi against Afganistan and versus West Indies, it was a pitched up delivery from Jason Holder that brought about his downfall.

"Against Afghanistan, I would not say it (reverse sweep) was a bad shot. It was a shot I play all the time. And more often than not I hit it for four, so I get it away. But unfortunately, I did not execute it," Rahul said.

"But the planning and the timing of that shot may be was questionable because I needed to stitch up a partnership with Virat," he admitted.

"And today (vs WI), as a batsman, it disappoints you but then again you know bowlers are allowed to bowl good balls. And you do make mistakes. And I can't sit back and break my head about it. I just go on and try to start fresh in Birmingham and try to get a big one."&nbsp;

He was always "ready" to juggle up and down the order, and Shikhar Dhawan's untimely injury did not change much for him.

"I know that Shikhar getting injured was unfortunate. And I had to go to the top of the order. But not that I never prepared for opening the batting. In my head, the last one or two years I have been preparing for whatever might be my role," the 27-year-old right-handed batsman said.

In fact, he is more comfortable opening the batting as that has been his natural slot in all forms of cricket.

"I had to prepare hard for number four because that's not where I batted all my life. I did that. And now to come back to opening the batting again, it's just a bit more comfortable and easier for me because I've batted it all my life," Rahul said. On India's not so impressive batting show in the past two games, Rahul said that both wickets weren't easy for scoring runs.

In fact, he revealed that when he and Rohit were batting, they had sent a message to the dressing room that the wicket was two paced and 260 was a par-score.

Ask about Virat Kohli once again looking like a different player compared to all others who struggled, Rahul said it's his special ability to get runs irrespective of the conditions.

"I don't think he's doing anything different. He has been doing the same thing for how long I can remember since the time he started playing cricket, this is what he has been doing, performing consistently," he observed.

"And no matter what condition, what wicket condition, who the bowlers are, he always finds a way to get runs, always finds a way to put the bowlers under pressure."&nbsp;

Virat Kohli's Team India currently only unbeaten team in Cricket World Cup 2019

Faf du Plessis and Hashim Amla struck unbeaten half-centuries as <a href="https://www.wionews.com/sports/live-updates-cricket-world-cup-2019-match-35-sri-lanka-vs-south-africa-231153">South Africa cruised to a nine-wicket victory</a> at the Riverside Ground on Friday to put a major dent in Sri Lanka's hopes of reaching the Cricket World Cup semi-finals.

After putting Sri Lanka in to bat, South Africa were set a target of 204 as seamer Dwaine Pretorius took 3-25 off 10 overs in an innings that was interrupted by a swarm of bees that invaded the pitch and sent the players and umpires to the floor.

After the early loss of Quinton de Kock, already-eliminated South Africa never looked troubled as Amla (80 not out) and Du Plessis (96 not out) put on 175 for the second wicket, playing with a kind of freedom not seen before by the team in a dismal tournament for the side.

Sri Lanka needed victory to move level with fourth-placed England in the race for semi-final places, but struggled with bat and ball against an opponent who have now beaten them in 17 of their last 19 meetings.

Sri Lanka produced a fast start to their innings that was halted by the immaculate line and length of Pretorius as South Africa limited their opponents to 203 all out three balls shy of 50 overs.

After overcoming the loss of captain Dimuth Karunaratne with the first ball of the match, Kusal Perera (30) and Avishka Fernando (30) raced to 67 inside the first 10 overs, taking the attack to the South Africans.

But Pretorius picked up both their wickets and slowed the run-rate, with seamer Chris Morris (3-46) also collecting key scalps, including that of Angelo Mathews (11).

They were aided by a slow wicket that made stroke-play difficult, but Sri Lanka’s batting woes that have characterised their campaign to date returned, with Perera and Fernando ending as top-scorers in the innings.

South Africa reached their target with 76 balls to spare in an accomplished display that comes as too little, too late for them in the World Cup.

De Kock struck three crisp fours before he was bowled by the wily Lasith Malinga (1-47), but Amla and De Kock played a patient game and nudged the ball for singles and twos, showing the composure their opponents had lacked.

Amla took 56 balls for his half-century and Du Plessis 70, but they were always ahead of the run-rate and with no pressure on to bag a quick win, took their time.

They eventually sped up when the target narrowed to under 30, but Du Plessis ran out of runs to reach a deserved captain’s ton.

Faf du Plessis and Hashim Amla struck unbeaten half-centuries as South Africa cruised to a nine-wicket victory at the Riverside Ground on Friday to put a major dent in Sri Lanka's hopes of reaching the Cricket World Cup semi-finals. Not sure Chris Morris has mastered the concept of the selfie yet 😂 Tag someone who would take a screenshot rather than a selfie! pic.twitter.com/UszONK7jIm — Cricket World Cup (@cricketworldcup) June 28, 2019 × After overcoming the loss of captain Dimuth Karunaratne with the first ball of the match, Kusal Perera (30) and Avishka Fernando (30) raced to 67 inside the first 10 overs, taking the attack to the South Africans. Match in numbers:
