Speaking on this matter, Brendon said Stokes being someone who looks at a bigger picture, would be careful with his fitness given the rigorous IPL schedule, and that Brendon backs CSK management to take good care of the 31-year-old this season.

The skipper has a strong mind and he knows how to get right for the big moments. His life is that, right? So I don't have any concerns. In fact I look forward to watching him play in it and see, without captaincy as well, the opportunity to play cricket without worrying about everybody else, knowing when he comes back into the fold and leads us into the Ashes campaign he'll have the bit between his teeth and I think we'll be alright.”

He added saying if for some players it makes sense to miss the Ireland Test in order to stay fit and get ready for the home Ashes that follows, he’d leave the door open for that too.

"I'll probably get round the individuals and ask them what they want to be ready for the Ashes, because those five games are obviously the big ones of the summer, and you've got to think about what lads want. But what if something was to happen in that game [Ireland] and we lose someone for the Ashes ... It's just one of those where you have to weigh up the options of what the individual person actually wants out of that week, versus do we really need to play that one. Because, obviously, I'm right in saying that series is bigger than that game against Ireland," Stokes on how he’s going to do player management ahead of the Ashes.

"I'll probably get round the individuals and ask them what they want to be ready for the Ashes, because those five games are obviously the big ones of the summer, and you've got to think about what lads want. But what if something was to happen in that game [Ireland] and we lose someone for the Ashes ... It's just one of those where you have to weigh up the options of what the individual person actually wants out of that week, versus do we really need to play that one. Because, obviously, I'm right in saying that series is bigger than that game against Ireland," Stokes on how he’s going to do player management ahead of the Ashes. “MS is probably the best captain ever lived. He is a brilliant guy, and there’s so much about him. He talks a lot about cricket and talks a lot of sense," said the England vice-captain in an interview with Gulf News.&nbsp;

"Very approachable and has really helped my game the way I play now. He gave me confidence. He is certainly a people’s captain.”

Ali was drafted into the Chennai Super Kings fold in 2021 and instantly became a hit with the fanbase. Dhoni recognised Ali's gameplay and promoted him up the order and used his willy offspin effectively during different stages of the match.&nbsp;

Prior to CSK's 2021 campaign, Ali was used at no.6 or 7 by his national side. However, after Dhoni used him in a different way, even the 'Three Lions' started using Ali in a similar way.&nbsp;

Since joining CSK, Ali has amassed 601 runs in 25 IPL games and picked 15 wickets. While playing for RCB, the English player could only muster 309 runs and 10 wickets in 19 matches.&nbsp;

Ali's performance during the 2021 season helped CSK win its fourth IPL title in Dubai.

Despite being with CSK for over two seasons now, Ali is yet to play at their home ground, the MA Chidambaram Stadium.

Fast-bowling all-rounder and T20 stalwart Dwayne Bravo on Friday ended his IPL playing career and signed up with four-time IPL champions Chennai Super Kings, a team he represented from 2011-15 and 2018-22, as their bowling coach ahead of IPL 2023. 
 
"I`m looking forward to this new journey because it`s something I see myself doing after my playing days are&nbsp;fully over. I enjoy working with bowlers and it`s a role I`m excited about. From player to coach, I don`t think I have to adjust much because while I`m playing, I always work with bowlers and try to come up with plans and ideas on how to have that one step ahead of the batsmen."

"The only difference is I will no longer be standing at mid-on or mid-off! I never thought I would be the leading wicket-taker in the history of IPL. But I`m just happy to be a part of IPL history!" said Bravo in an official statement. 
 
Bravo had played in the tournament since its inception in 2008. He ends his IPL playing career as the leading wicket-taker of the competition with 183 scalps from 161 matches, averaging 23.82 and at an economy rate of 8.38. 
 
He has also scored 1560 runs at a strike rate of 129.57, playing key parts in many victories for the Super Kings with his hard-hitting batting. Bravo will be stepping in as Chennai`s bowling coach with Lakshmipathy Balaji is taking a break for one year due to personal commitments. Ruturaj Gaikwad has done the unthinkable! On Monday (November 28), the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) opener flexed his muscles and smashed as many as seven sixes in a single over and returned with a majestic 220 not out, off 159 balls, in Maharashtra's quarter-final tie versus Uttar Pradesh in the ongoing Vijay Hazare Trophy 2022 edition. Gaikwad went bonkers in the 49th over and hit seven sixes, including a six off a no-ball, to take his side to a mammoth 330 for 5 in 50 overs.&nbsp;It is to be noted that he has now become the first-ever&nbsp;batter, across all professional formats, to hit seven sixes in an over.&nbsp;

A number of big names were let go of by the 10 franchises as they prepare to strengthen their squads with new additions at the mini-auction next month.

Mumbai Indians, Kolkata Knight Riders, and Sunrisers Hyderabad were the top three teams to release the most number of players while Delhi Capitals and Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) let go of only five players each. There were some surprise releases as both Sunrisers and Punjab Kings parted ways with their respective captains from the last season.

Sunrisers released Kane Williamson, who was retained last year for a whopping Rs 14 crore, while Punjab Kings let go of Mayank Agarwal, who had replaced KL Rahul as captain in IPL 2022. Two legends of IPL, Dwayne Bravo and Kieron Pollard were also released by their respective teams Chennai Super Kings and Mumbai Indians, bringing an end to a glorious association.

While Pollard announced his retirement from IPL stating that he will return as the team's batting coach next season, Bravo is yet to decide his future after being released. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is set to conduct a mini player auction ahead of the start of the new season in 2023. Gujarat Titans defeated Rajasthan Royals in the final last season to lift their maiden IPL trophy in their debut campaign after successfully executing their strategies in the mega auction last year.

As per a report in the Times of India, the 2023 IPL auction is set to be held on December 16 in Bengaluru. IPL is also set to return to the traditional home and away format from next season and is likely to be staged entirely in India like last season.

Unlike the mega auction last time around where the eight old teams were asked to retain a maximum of four players, there will be no such cap on the ten teams this time. All ten teams can release and retain as many players as they like considering the budget in mind.

The overall purse of each team will be increased by Rs 5 crore (INR 50 million) from Rs 90 crore (INR 900 million) to Rs 95 crore (INR 950 million) for the 2023 mini-auction. If a team decides to release none of their players, they will be left with the amount they had saved in the mega auction last year and the additional Rs 5 crore allotted to them.

Punjab Kings currently have the largest purse among all ten teams with&nbsp;Rs 3.45 crore (INR 34.5 million) remaining in their kitty followed by Chennai Super Kings (Rs 29.5 million), Royal Challengers Bangalore (Rs 15.5 million), Rajasthan Royals (Rs 9.5 million), Kolkata Knight Riders (Rs 4.5 million) and Gujarat Titans (Rs 15 million).&nbsp;

Mumbai Indians, Sunrisers Hyderabad and Delhi Capitals were all left with only Rs 1 million after the mega auction last year while Lucknow Super Giants exhausted their entire purse.

Despite it being a mini auction, a number of big names are expected to go under the hammer ahead of the IPL 2023 season. The likes of England all-rounder Sam Curran and Cameron Green among others can headline the show with several big stars released by the franchises also expected to be in the fray.

Chennai Super Kings (CSK) batter Robin Uthappa took to Twitter on Wednesday (September 14) to announce his retirement from all forms of Indian cricket. Uthappa was one of the heroes of India's memorable maiden T20 World Cup triumph under former captain MS Dhoni in 2007.

Uthappa, in fact, has chosen to announce his retirement on the 15th anniversary of India's famous win against Pakistan after a bowl-out in the group stage of the 2007 T20 World Cup. It was Dhoni's first game as the captain of the Indian team and Uthappa was one of the players who successfully hit the stumps during the bowl-out to secure a thrilling win for the Men in Blue.

While Uthappa's international career never took off despite him being part of the T20 World Cup-winning team in 2007, he went on to become one of the greats of the Indian Premier League (IPL). Uthappa played for teams like Mumbai Indians, Kolkata Knight Riders, Royal Challengers Bangalore, Rajasthan Royals and CSK in his IPL career.

He was part of the CSK's title-winning squad in 2021 and was bought back by the four-time champions at the IPL mega auction earlier this year. Uthappa was a regular feature for CSK in their middle-order in IPL 2022 but failed to deliver consistently as he finished the season with 230 runs in 12 matches.

He will not play for CSK in the upcoming 2023 season after announcing his retirement on Wednesday. Uthappa spent two seasons with the MS Dhoni-led side and scored 345 runs in 16 matches for the team, including a crucial knock in the final of IPL 2021 against his former team KKR.

"It has been my greatest honour to represent my country and my state, Karnataka. However, all good things must come to an end, and with a grateful heart, I have decided to retire from all forms of Indian cricket," Uthappa wrote in a tweet announcing his retirement from all forms of Indian cricket.

Jadeja was asked to step down from captaincy midway through the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022 after the team's poor start and the move didn't&nbsp;go&nbsp;down well with the star all-rounder.
