The police have refuted claims that the 20-year-old woman who died in Delhi in the early hours of Sunday in a horrific car incident was sexually assaulted by the five accused men. The woman died after a car struck her scooter and dragged her for approximately 4 kilometres, from Sultanpuri to Kanjhawala. Nearly an hour later, according to police, the body of the woman was discovered. The victim was was leaving work when the incident took place. Five men who were inside the car have been detained.

The mother of the deceased has claimed that her daughter was sexually assaulted by the five accused males as she was discovered nude by the police. She said that her daughter told her she would return late from work. "I was waiting for her,” she said. “How can all her clothes come off like that? Police aren’t showing us her body properly. I want justice for my daughter,” she alleged.

"When my brother arrived at the police station, he was told about the death of my daughter. He informed me. My daughter was the only person earning in our family. She was fully clothed but not a single piece of clothing was there on her body, what kind of accident was it," said the deceased's mother.

The accusations, however, have been refuted by the Police. On Monday, the National Commission for Women (NCW) requested the Delhi Police Commissioner for a post-mortem examination of the body to determine if the woman had been molested or raped.

India’s keeper-batter Rishabh Pant is likely to miss the upcoming Test series against Australia and also the IPL 2023 as he might take at least three to six months to recover. Pant met with a serious accident in wee hours on Friday when his car collided with the divider on Delhi-Dehradun highway flipped and later caught fire. Although Pant managed to get out of his car, he got injured seriously and is now getting treated at the Max hospital in Dehradun.

Meanwhile, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) in coordination with Max Hospital doctors issued a medical bulletin, that stated, “Pant has suffered two cuts on his forehead, a ligament tear in his right knee along with injuries on his right wrist, ankle, toe and back.”

As reported by TOI, a medical team member who is attending the cricketer informed that Pant is stable and is not suffering any life-threatening injury. He said, “His condition is being monitored by Dr Gaurav Gupta of the orthopedics department. Pant is stable, not suffering from any life-threatening injury. His mother is with him in the hospital.”

Dr Qamar Azam, who looks after the sports injury department at AIIMS-Rishikesh briefed about the severity of Pant’s condition, claiming the star cricketer will at least take somewhere between three to six months to recover from the ligament injury he sustained in his knee.

“Pant will take at least three to six months to recover from the ligament injury. And if it’s severe, he may take more time. Further evaluation can be based on his detailed injury report,” Dr Qamar Azam said.

Considering this assessment, Rishabh is all set to miss the home Test series against Australia, that begins on February 9th in Nagpur. Moreover, his availability for the IPL 2023 also remains uncertain.

Since Pant had been one of the core players in the Test team for over two years now, not having him for the series against Australia will come as huge blow for the Indian team. While no confirmation on his availability has been made yet, it will be interesting to see who replaces him in the Test squad.

The autopsy of Cyrus Mistry, former chairman of the Tata Group, and Jehangir Pandole, a friend, revealed that both men died from "severe head trauma and extensive external and internal lesions to important organs".

After their remains were transported from Palghar's Kasa Sub-District Hospital on Monday around midnight, Cyrus Mistry and his friend Jehangir Pandole had post-mortem examinations performed at the government-run JJ Hospital.

An autopsy in the case of Mistry found serious head trauma that resulted in a haemorrhage (heavy bleeding). The neck, thigh, head, and chest all had many fractures. The JJ hospital's medical staff claims that these injuries happen when the body experiences a significant jolt, such as when a car suddenly stops or accelerates rapidly.

The samples of viscera will be forwarded to the Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) in Kalina, according to JJ officials. A viscera analysis is performed to look for, among other things, residues of poison, alcohol, and chemicals. According to sources, samples have also been saved for DNA analysis.

In addition, the NHTSA reported that six people suffered significant injuries and five people died in crashes utilising driver-assist systems.

According to NHTSA, manufacturers were not required to record how many vehicles they have on the road with the devices, how far those vehicles have gone, or when the systems are being used. According to an agency official, those numbers are not currently quantifiable.

NHTSA may, however, later look for such data. In the interim, it is now able to learn about accidents much more quickly than in the past thanks to the additional data. The government stated that it is currently using the crash data to look for trends and discuss them with the companies.

US: Nearly 400 crashes linked to self-driving, driver-assist technologies since last summer

Former South African umpire Rudi Koertzen, along with three other people died in a car accident near Riversdale on Tuesday, a news report revealed. The 73-year-old Koertzen was on his way back home from Cape Town to Despatch in Eastern Cape, after a golf weekend when the tragic incident took place. His son, Rudi Koertzen Jr said that his father died on impact.

"He went on a golf tournament with some of his friends, and they were expected to come back on Monday, but it seems they decided to play another round of golf", Koertzen Jr told South African outlet Algoa FM News.

Koertzen officiated in 331 international matches, a record at the time of his retirement in 2010 - Pakistan`s Aleem Dar has since gone past Koertzen. Along with Dar and West Indies` Steve Bucknor, Koertzen was one of only three umpires to stand in over 100 Tests.

"It is a very big loss foremost for his family and then for South Africa and cricket," Dar was quoted as saying by ESPNcricinfo.

"I stood in so many games with him. He was not only very good as an umpire but also an excellent colleague, always very cooperative on field and also always willing to help off the field. Because of the way he was, he was also well-respected by players," he added.

Fellow South African umpire, Marais Erasmus, said, "Rudi was such a strong character, physically and mentally. He paved the way for South African umpires to get to the world stage. Made us all believe it`s possible. A true legend. As a young umpire a learnt a lot from him."
