Ever since his debut in 'Heropanti'in 2014, Tiger Shroff has been associated with action films mostly. The star, who enjoys a strong fan base is best known, has been known for his dance moves and awe-inspiring stunts.

In Punit Malhotra's new film 'Student Of The Year 2', the actor claims he has done a different role- a stark contrast from his previous characters.

Does he feel that Bollywood stereotypes its actors? "Bollywood definitely stereotypes its heroes,' admitted Tiger while promoting SOTY2 in the capital a few days back. But the actor is quick to add that he is glad that such stereotypes exist.

"I feel blessed that there is a stereotype. There is so much competition between the actors, so much talent that the film industry has now. How does one stand out? Having a particular identity has helped me to connect with the audience. The stereotype has helped me to stand out and create my individuality in this industry," said the actor.

The actor admitted that he chose to do SOTY because it made him step away from his genre. " Karan (Johar) Sir and I met during the making of 'Baaghi 1'. And we kept meeting and one day he asked 'how would you like to play the lead in 'Student Of The Year 2'? I was very happy and said 'I'd love to do it' and rest is history."

A sequel of 2012 hit film 'Student Of The Year', SOTY2 marks the debut of actresses Tara Sutaria and Ananya Panday.

Ever since the film's first trailer came out, the makers have been receiving flak for depicting an unrealistic picture of college-life in the film. Does he feel that the film will have a wrong influence on his young fans?

"In no means does the film try to preach the wrong message. The film has an important message which you get to know only once you watch the film. We have only shown the fun element of the film in the trailers. The film in no way tries to misguide the youth. I connect a lot with kids and I do action films. I don't urge people to go and fight, through my films. Kids still are able to connect. So films don't preach always," the actor said.

Directed by Punit Malhotra, 'Student of The Year 2' has been produced by Karan Johar's Dharma Production. It is set to release on 10th May.

I was very happy and said 'I'd love to do it' and rest is history." A sequel of 2012 hit film 'Student Of The Year', SOTY2 marks the debut of actresses Tara Sutaria and Ananya Panday.

Looks like the Bollywood powerhouse is going down the memory lane.

From Bittoo in his debut film `Band Baaja Baaraat` to Muraad in his latest film `Gully boy,` the collage is a sheer throwback.

'(In a nutshell),' Ranveer captioned the post.

The photomontage features twelve characters essayed by Ranveer in Band Baaja Baaraat, Ladies vs Ricky Bahl, Befikre, Lootera, Padmaavat, Bajirao Mastaani, Goliyon Ki Rasleela Ram-Leela, Gully Boy, Simmba, Gunday, Kill Dill, and Dil Dhadakne Do.

Akshay Kumar to Alia Bhatt: Bollywood actors who will not be voting in Lok Sabha Elections 2019

Lok Sabha polls: A look at Bollywood entries in Indian politics

As the world gets together to celebrate Women’s Day on March 8 today, Bollywood’s female filmmakers have been leading the charge of making films that not only hit the jackpot with its content but are also commercially viable. From Reema Kagti’s ‘Gold’ to Meghna Gulzar’s ‘Raazi’ last year to Zoya Akhtar’s ‘Gully Boy’ this year -- women directors of Bollywood now have a following of their own, having carved a niche for themselves.

If you go by the industry figures, their films have an equal pull in comparison to a contemporary male counterpart.

Not just this, even films are increasingly being made keeping a female character as central to the plot, think Sehmat of ‘Raazi’, Rani Padmavati of ‘Padmaavat’, Manikarnika of ‘Manikarnika’, Sweety of ‘Ek Ladki Ko Dekha To Aisa Laga’ and many others. These characters not only brought female characters to the fore but quashed the need for any ‘other’ hero, considering they adopted the role themselves. Also see in pics: Sehmat, Rumi, Simi: Celebrating the women from 2018's best movies

On Women’s Day, some female directors and actors of the Hindi entertainment industry discuss how Bollywood fares today in inclusivity, changing face of cinema if at all and what it means to be a woman:

Alankrita Shrivastava, Director

She said, “I think the parts for women on screen are getting a little bit better. Many female actors are refusing to be just trophies in a male-hero lead film. I find that very heartening. When Alia Bhatt does a Raazi, Deepika Padukone does a Piku or Chhapak, then you know something is shifting.”

She added, “It's great to see female-lead films be it in terms of female cast, female directors and female producers. These are exciting times for women in cinema and storytelling, perhaps the best we've ever seen in India. I hope in the years to come, across formats, more and more space is created for women to tell their stories, the way they want.”

Director of ‘Lipstick Under My Burkha’, Alankrita feels there is still a lot of work as “in terms of cinema, better representation of women behind the camera is needed. Having more female directors, cinematographers, writers, producers.... will result in the quality of films changing. We will start seeing a new narrative, newer points of view. Also the environment for women will become safer and more secure. More women on a set, will enable a far healthier work environment.”

She also spoke of #meToo movement that took the industry by a storm and said: “I also hope that the #metoo movement continues in spirit in terms of making people think twice before assaulting or exploiting somebody. And that women who call out offenders are safe, secure and continue to get work. The sexual offenders should be ostracized, not the ones who have suffered the assault.”

Alankrita’s latest offering is web series ‘Made in Heaven’ with Zoya Akhtar and Reema Kagti who wrote and created the show, while Akhtar, Nitya Mehra, Alankrita Shrivastava, and Prashant Nair served as directors for the nine-episode series.

Shweta Tripathi Sharma, Actor

She said, "Being a woman can be a blessing and a boon. It could be a superpower. Cool. And fun. And all things amazing. But all this won’t happen till the time we don’t change the way we think, not only about ourselves, about also about other women.”

‘Masaan’ actor added, “I am who I want to be. I don’t let my gender define my dreams, my ambitions, my emotions (or even my perfume). This women’s day, let’s put more belief in each one celebrate each other. Smile and conquer :)"

Shweta has two films this year -- ‘Cargo’ and ‘Mehandi Circus’.

Neetu Chandra, Actor

She said,"This International Women's Day, I urge all women in the world to never let yourselves be bogged down by anything that life throws at you. Keep pushing yourself to feel recharged, reconnected and inspired from within for a great and bright future and don't ever give up on life.

She added, “I am really proud to be a woman and so should each and every woman in this world should feel about themselves."

Tulsi Kumar, Singer

She said, "A lot has changed in the industry for the better in the last few years. Women have broken norms, the mindset towards working married women has become welcoming and best of all, there are women-centric films and scripts being made regularly. In the industry, there are more women-oriented songs being made. It is happening at its pace and I am sure the pace will pick up in the time to come,” and added, “This is the change we have been waiting for.”

Daughter of T-Series honcho, Tulsi also feels that “the notion that a mother can't be an actor has also taken a 360° turn. I was married in 2015 and my career has only gone upward since! In 2017, I became a mother but has not stopped me. I have been travelling, recording and having so many gigs!"

Tulsi has several songs to her credit and continues to playback for films and launches her own music albums.

Paakhi A Tyrewala, Director

She said, “This women's day let's stand for what feminism truly stands for, Equality for all not just for women, but for who are suppressed, ignored or bullied. We stand together till we bring the change. We keep trying till each one of us is accepted for all who are”.

Paakhi gained directorial success with ‘Pahuna’ as it premiered internationally at Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF) 2017 where it was received with a standing ovation. The film also won the Best Film (Jury Choice) in The International Children’s Film Festival in Germany and won the Best Film Award by the European Jury.
I hope in the years to come, across formats, more and more space is created for women to tell their stories, the way they want.” Director of ‘Lipstick Under My Burkha’, Alankrita feels there is still a lot of work as “in terms of cinema, better representation of women behind the camera is needed. Having more female directors, cinematographers, writers, producers.... will result in the quality of films changing. We will start seeing a new narrative, newer points of view. Also the environment for women will become safer and more secure. More women on a set, will enable a far healthier work environment.” She also spoke of #meToo movement that took the industry by a storm and said: “I also hope that the #metoo movement continues in spirit in terms of making people think twice before assaulting or exploiting somebody. And that women who call out offenders are safe, secure and continue to get work. The sexual offenders should be ostracized, not the ones who have suffered the assault.” Alankrita’s latest offering is web series ‘Made in Heaven’ with Zoya Akhtar and Reema Kagti who wrote and created the show, while Akhtar, Nitya Mehra, Alankrita Shrivastava, and Prashant Nair served as directors for the nine-episode series. Shweta Tripathi Sharma, Actor She said, "Being a woman can be a blessing and a boon. It could be a superpower. Cool. And fun. And all things amazing. But all this won’t happen till the time we don’t change the way we think, not only about ourselves, about also about other women.” ‘Masaan’ actor added, “I am who I want to be. I don’t let my gender define my dreams, my ambitions, my emotions (or even my perfume). This women’s day, let’s put more belief in each one celebrate each other. Smile and conquer :)" Shweta has two films this year -- ‘Cargo’ and ‘Mehandi Circus’. Neetu Chandra, Actor She said,"This International Women's Day, I urge all women in the world to never let yourselves be bogged down by anything that life throws at you. Keep pushing yourself to feel recharged, reconnected and inspired from within for a great and bright future and don't ever give up on life. She added, “I am really proud to be a woman and so should each and every woman in this world should feel about themselves." Tulsi Kumar, Singer She said, "A lot has changed in the industry for the better in the last few years. Women have broken norms, the mindset towards working married women has become welcoming and best of all, there are women-centric films and scripts being made regularly. In the industry, there are more women-oriented songs being made. It is happening at its pace and I am sure the pace will pick up in the time to come,” and added, “This is the change we have been waiting for.” Daughter of T-Series honcho, Tulsi also feels that “the notion that a mother can't be an actor has also taken a 360° turn. I was married in 2015 and my career has only gone upward since! In 2017, I became a mother but has not stopped me. I have been travelling, recording and having so many gigs!" Tulsi has several songs to her credit and continues to playback for films and launches her own music albums. Paakhi A Tyrewala, Director She said, “This women's day let's stand for what feminism truly stands for, Equality for all not just for women, but for who are suppressed, ignored or bullied.

Women's Day: Alankrita Shrivastava, Shweta Tripathi, Neetu Chandra discuss what it means to be a woman in Bollywood

By any standards, 'Gully Boy' is a brilliant film. It is well written, taut and acting by Ranveer Singh, Alia Bhatt and rest of the cast was effortless. 'Gully Boy' represents a new age cinema where music, subversion, social struggle and lust to survive the harsh reality of modern urban life - all comes together.

Almost 90 per cent of the important characters of the film are Muslims. This only provides a context for the film and does not become a driving force for the characters in the drama. The struggle of Safeena Firdausi, a character played by Alia Bhatt, remains universal. Her struggle to enjoy late night parties and indulge in make-up could that be of any Lakshmi from a Hindu household or Harpreet Kaur from a Sikh family. Her love, possessiveness for Murad and temper tantrum is not shown as a result of her past or upbringing but presented as a fact of her personality. Safeena kisses but it is not eroticised. She does not come out as an exotic Muslim female out of a closet.

Even in the case of Murad, his quest to survive, love and struggle flow from confidence in himself and his talent. Bollywood films on Muslims, most of the times, end up creating dark-eyed stereotypes of Muslims who are either motivated by religious indoctrination or sense of victimhood and marginalisation from the political mainstream.

It leads to the creation of a Muslim as a familiar exotic in the current political narrative. A homogenous mass with a singular entity. The film shatters this narrative. Murad does not drink but it doesn’t mean he is a conservative. Booze is not used to demonstrate his creative depth. He smokes which is permissible in his religious context but does not typify him as a Muslim.

In this film, the victimhood is portrayed as a matter of fact and does not flow from religion. When Murad’s father Aftab Shakir, played by Vijay Raaz, tells Murad that it is very difficult to get a job as a Muslim, it comes as a statement of fact.

The film does not have good Muslims or bad Muslims. The Muslims are similar to Hindus and Sikhs married to their vices and desire. Murad’s father is insensitive, and Sher’s (Siddhant Chaturvedi) father is a raging alcoholic and, in both, the common thread is poverty and life on margins. This interplay between poverty and plenty makes this film different, which is summed up brilliantly in the song, 'paas hokar bhee door hain.'

Even the second marriage of Murad’s father is less to do with the number of marriages prescribed in Islam but more to do with lust, infidelity, patriarchy and man-woman relationship. It is not what without significance that in a scene, Murad’s mother Razia openly shouts back at Aftab he should not crib to her about her frigidness as he never knew how to touch her.

The scene, which could have been shot by a posh couple, shatters the myth of man-woman issues based on class.

'Gully Boy' neither glamourise poverty nor celebrates it. It is presented as a matter of fact. The movie is inspired by real-life characters but is completely a work of fiction.

Kalki Koechlin's character could have been more fleshed out. The film presents the crushing reality of living in Mumbai but also shows the spirit of an individual which can be uncrushable. The soundtrack rocks and so does the film.
Karisma Kapoor who was spotted on Wednesday evening unveiling a designer's new spring/summer 2019 collection at Palladium in Mumbai, spoke about remixed films and songs at the sidelines of the event. When asked if she is aware of a 'Coolie No 1' remake, the actor said that while she does not have much information about it, she is excited to see it, if the film happens. As for her take on remixed songs, a growing trend in the industry, Karisma said, "I would love to see someone remix ' Tujhe Mirchi Lagi' from my film 'Coolie No 1.' " Notably, the inspiration for the actor's comments came from the saree that she was sporting from the label's latest range that draws heavily from Indian flowers and spices. She was herself draped in a saree that had the 'mirchi' or chilli motif running throughout at the event. The actor took to her Instagram account and posted a picture of her draped in the saree as well.
Her last cinematic outing was 2013's 'Satyagraha' and she did musical drama 'Meri Awaaz Hi Pehchaan Hai' for the small screen three years later.

Rao said she turned down many big Bollywood projects as they did not meet her selection criteria.

"It has been a journey of sacrificing big films because I was not comfortable with the on-screen requirements. Trends change, on-screen demand of actresses change. Cinema is a slice of reality. You have school and college kids being intimate and marriage is not even in question and that is what they show in cinema. That kind of requirement of the character did not suit me. So I had to let go of those big offers with a heavy heart. The directors respected me and understood that I had certain restrictions which were sacred to me," she told PTI in an interview.

The actor plays Meena Thackeray, wife to late Shiv Sena founder Bal Thackeray (portrayed by Nawazuddin Siddiqui) in the film.

She said the makers approached her to play the role as they believed that both the women have a 'pure' image.

"I have earned that image in the industry. Playing a mature role was challenging for me. I have played the girl-next-door and then to portray this part, where my character spans from a 28-year-old to a 60-year-old, was not easy," she said.

And now Rao wants to be part of something edgy.

"Discussions are on. I want to do something that I have not done before like a thriller, murder mystery or suspense film. I would love to play a negative role...Due to digitalisation, work opportunities and avenues have changed so much. Directors typecasting actors is passe," she said.

In 2016, the actor tied the knot with radio jockey Anmol and focused on her personal life. Rao said she had hinted at the hiatus before implementing it.

"I was not making presence anywhere... There are some actors who surrender themselves to the industry. I have always been a family person," she added.

In a comment on India's #MeToo tsunami that has crossed the boundaries of the film industry since last September, the actor said influential people would try to get their way, but 'accepting it or not' will always be a choice.

"It is unfortunate when I hear about the #MeToo cases. There are girls and guys here who are ready to grab opportunities at any cost. People should respect themselves and their values," she said.

Rao said she was 'blessed' to never experience harassment. She believes it was because she became a star early on in her career despite being an outsider.

"I had a wonderful entry into films without being a star kid. And you can't plan such things. My journey has been different. I arrived and I became a star so everybody was on their best behaviour with me. I have stuck to my personality, I have not done anything that is out of my personal zone," she said.

Kajol, one of the most sought after names of Hindi film industry, believes it has become easier to get famous, but being a star is not a cakewalk even today.

"The words star and fame cannot be put together. There are lot of people who are famous today but there are a very few stars. So, it is not synonymous anymore today which used to be there earlier," Kajol told PTI.

The actor, who has been active in films for over 25 years, said she stayed relevant as she decided to grow with time both personally and professionally.

"I believe I am relevant today. I believe my personality has a lot to do with it. My personality has grown on screen and off screen with age. I am way smarter, cooler than what I was at the age 16. I am more beautiful. I think I am bound to be relevant in a lot of ways," she said.

Kajol made her acting debut in 1992 with Rahul Rawail's 'Bekhudi' and went on to deliver hits like 'Baazigar', 'Yeh Dillagi', 'Karan Arjun', 'Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge', 'Gupt', 'Kuch Kuch Hota Hai', 'My Name is Khan', 'Fanaa' among others.

But the actor says movies happened to her by chance.

"I did not have a great start. My first film did not do well. I have never considered it (acting) as a career, it happened to me and I just went with the flow. I was always on my toes (while choosing a film) and have been choosy always.

"I had a great time working on all the films, I met some amazing people. I still think of my work as a play time and rather my work is at home," she said.

The 44-year-old actor will next be seen in her husband Ajay Devgn's film 'Tanaji: The Unsung Warrior'.

Amid all the creative content flourishing in Bollywood, actresses of the present times know their worth and do not hesitate to demand the pay package that they deserve.

Recently, Deepika Padukone revealed an incident where she said 'tata-good bye' to a movie when she learnt how the director of the movie was willing to pay more to the male actor and not her.

She said, “There was a recent incident where a director offered us a film that creatively I liked. But then it came to talking about money, and I said that this is what I would charge. Then it kind of went back and forth. He came back and told me that he wouldn’t be able to afford me as he had to accommodate the male (lead). So, then I said ‘tata- good bye’ as I know my track record. I know my worth. I know that his films haven’t been doing as well as my films have. So, it made absolutely no sense. I was okay to say no to that film based on pay because I thought it was unfair.”

While the actress is still garnering praises from everywhere for her portrayal of the courageous Rani Padmini in the movie 'Padmaavat' (2018), she took the opportunity to acknowledge about the pay disparity in the Hindi film industry and how she has been demanding for equal pay for equal work.

The 'Chhapaak' actor was speaking at the launch of 'The Dot That Went for A Walk'. The book is about 51 real women heroes and has one chapter on Padukone.

The actor said, “Today in films, there is no lack of opportunity. The kind of films and the place of a woman in these films have changed a lot. And, of course, the pay. I would like to speak for myself. I have been able to bridge the gap, in terms of what my male contemporaries get paid versus what I am getting paid.”

“Today, I am ready to take those steps, measures or decisions for myself because I am going to be able to sleep peacefully at night. I don’t think I would be able to live with the thought that despite the same kind of creative contribution as my male co-star, and bringing in the same kind of value to the film as him, I am being underpaid. I was not okay with that,” Deepika Padukone said.

The year 2018 saw a massive change in Bollywood where films by the three Khans bombed at the box office. It is just the beginning of 2019 and the year has already seen a big hit in Vicky Kaushal starrer 'Uri: The Surgical Strike'

'Ishq Mitha': Sonam and Anil Kapoor give us the ultimate dance number this wedding season from their new film

Filmmaker Rajkumar Hirani has been accused of sexual assault by a woman who worked with him on his 2017 film "Sanju".

Hirani has categorically denied the allegations. His lawyer Anand Desai termed the allegations "false, mischievous, scandalous, motivated and defamatory".

In an article on HuffPost India, the woman, who calls herself "an assistant", alleged that Hirani sexually abused her more than once between March and September 2018.

She detailed her allegations in an email dated November 3, 2018, to Hirani's longtime collaborator and "Sanju" co-producer Vidhu Vinod Chopra.

The woman said that on April 9, 2018, the director first passed a sexually suggestive remark to her and later sexually assaulted her at his home office.

"I remember forming these words on my lips - 'Sir, This is wrong. Because of this power structure. You being the absolute power and me being a mere assistant, a nobody - I will never be able to express myself to you'," she wrote of the April 9 incident in the email to Chopra, as quoted by the article.

The woman said that Hirani was a father figure for her.

"My mind, body and heart were grossly violated that night and for the next 6 months," the email read.

Chopra's wife, film critic Anupama, who is a director at Vinod Chopra Films Pvt Ltd, "Sanju" scriptwriter Abhijat Joshi and filmmaker Shelly Chopra, Vidhu Vinod's sister, were also marked on the email.

The complainant later said to HuffPost India that she was "intimidated by Hirani", who was her reporting person at the time.

She said she maintained a facade of normalcy regarding Hirani's behaviour as she needed to hold on to her job as her father was suffering from a terminal illness.

"I had no choice but to be polite to him. It was unbearable but the reason I endured it all, until I couldn't, was because I didn't want my job to be taken away from me, and work to be questioned. Ever."

"I was worried that if I left midway, it would be impossible to find another job in this industry if he were to speak badly about my work. Because if Hirani said I wasn't good, everybody would listen. My future would be in jeopardy," she said.

Anupama Chopra had confirmed that the woman had shared an account with her and that Vinod Chopra Films (VCF) has since set up a committee to address complaints of sexual harassment.

"I have offered my full support and recommended that she take the complaint to a legal body or a neutral party since we cannot be arbitrators or judges on this. "We also offered to set up an ICC at VCF (which we have set up since then) even though a VCF ICC could not have taken up the case since she was an RHF (Rajkumar Hirani Films) employee at the time. These are two separate companies," she said in an email dated December 5, 2018.

Anupama said the woman told her she needed time to think about how to take things forward.

She added, "I did not want in any way to pressurise her or steer her in any direction. As Vinod and I told her then, she has our full support and we are fully respectful of whatever decision she has taken."

The development comes close on the heels of Hirani's name been dropped from the new poster and trailer of "Ek Ladki Ko Dekha Toh Aisa Laga", directed by Shelly Chopra.

A still from the film's teaser, which released on 27 June, 2018, carried Hirani's name as co-producer. Vidhu Vinod Chopra has not yet commented.

Hirani's is the latest name to be called out in India's #MeToo storm, which has engulfed many a stalwart such as Nana Patekar, Alok Nath, Vikas Bahl, Sajid Khan and former Union minister MJ Akbar, among others.

Actor Vicky Kaushal who is been seen enthusiastically promoting his highly awaited upcoming film 'Uri', has now spread the ' josh' to his Bollywood friends as well.
A day before the film's release, the actor got an airplane full of stars saying out loud the powerful trending lines from the film 'Uri'.

As a bunch of young Bollywood stars made their way to New Delhi to meet the PM, Vicky took the opportunity to get his friends to promote his film mid-air.

He shared a video on his Instagram page which had him along with other stars of the fraternity cheering for ' Uri'.

“Guys I have something to say to you,” he says to the camera and shows the faces of all the stars behind him. “How’s the josh?” he asks the group, screaming at the top of his lungs, just like his character from the film. And just like his soldiers from the films, the stars also respond with all their might, “High, Sir!” They also chant ‘Jai Hind’ and when Vicky asks when Uri is releasing, they say “Tomorrow!"

The title of the forthcoming Bollywood film 'Cheat India' has been changed to 'Why Cheat India' after the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) expressed concern over it, the makers have said.

A statement issued on behalf of the film's producers - T-Series Films, Ellipsis Entertainment and Emraan Hashmi Films read:

"The CBFC had concerns about the title 'Cheat India'. We had an extensive conversation with the Examining Committee and Revising Committee regarding the proposed change as the film has been in public domain for a year, and more importantly, because the theatrical teaser, trailer and television promos had already been certified with the original title. This would lead to dual communication a week before the release. The duress of lack of time left us with no choice but to mutually agree to the new title, 'Why Cheat India'."

Tanuj Garg from Ellipsis Entertainment tweeted the film's new poster and gave the caption: "Don't ask WHY! But it's WHY! Sigh! 'Why Cheat India'."

Actor Ranveer Singh, who is seen as a street rapper in his upcoming film 'Gully Boy', says he was born to do the coming-of-age musical film.

Ranveer spoke at the trailer launch of 'Gully Boy' along with his co-star Alia Bhatt, the film's director Zoya Akhtar and producers Farhan Akhtar and Ritesh Sidhwani in Mumbai on Wednesday.

In the film, the actor plays the role of a street rapper who dreams big.

In real life, Ranveer Singh has had a brush with rapping himself. He did a bit of rapping in the title track of his second film 'Ladies vs Ricky Bahl'.

"When somebody told me about the script of 'Gully Boy', I told them that it is my film. If any other actor would have been a part of this film instead of me then I would have got burnt with jealousy. I was born to do `Gully Boy` and I knew only I can pull off this character."

Ranveer said the movie is special for him for many reasons. "It's a coming together of too many things that are very dear to me. It has rap, hip-hop music which I loved since I was a kid and it is set in my motherland Mumbai."

While sharing his experience of working with the film's cast and crew, Ranveer said: "Working with Zoya (Akhtar) was an amazing experience. She is really more than a director to me. She is my friend and confidante. She is so special to me in my life as a person more than a director. This film's producer Ritesh is like family to me. We go way back and our parents go way back. Farhan (Akhtar) is a creative force of nature who I have tremendous admiration for. I have been fielding for him to direct me since eight years now. Hopefully, he will consider me someday. I really don't know what to say about Alia (Bhatt). I don't know how she happened to us. We are lucky that we have an actor like Alia Bhatt as a part of our cinema."

When Zoya was asked how she managed to work with Ranveer in the film, she said: "He is a method actor. If he has to rap for a day, then he will rap for the whole day.''

That`s the first time I saw a real and authentic rap what now is called as Gully Rap. It`s just stuck in my head and from that moment, till now, it`s just took me on a journey to make this film," says Zoya.
