<p>Hyderabad- based filmmaker Nandi Chinni Kumar has filed a case against the makers of upcoming film 'Jhund' that features Amitabh Bachchan in the lead role.&nbsp;<br />

The filmmaker has filed a contempt of court against Amazon prime and makers of the film 'Jhund' alleging copyright infringement.&nbsp;<br />
Amazon Prime has been named in the complaint because the OTT platform has entered into an agreement with the makers of 'Jhund'to stream on their platform.&nbsp;<br />
<br />
Taking up his contempt petition for hearing, the city court directed makers of 'Jhund' to file a counter on November 9.<br />
<br />
Kumar told a news agency that he bought exclusive rights in November 2017 to make a movie titled 'Slum Soccer' on the life of Akhilesh Paul. 'Jhund' is directed by Nagraj Manjule and is based on the life story of Vijay Barse, who is Paul`s coach.<br />
<br />
He claimed that Manjule, producer Savita Raj and TSeries Vice President Shiv Chanana told him that they bought the rights from Paul.<br />
<br />
"Akhilesh had given three no-objection certificates to me stating that he didn`t sell any rights or had given any consent to Nagraj Manjule or any makers of `Jhund`. I am the sole authorised person to exploit life story rights," he said.<br />
<br />
Kumar said since all his emails, phone conversations and legal notices on copyright infringement failed to yield any response, he filed suit in the Kukatpally court on May 13.<br />
<br />
The court, in its order dated September 17, barred exhibiting and broadcasting 'Jhund' in India and abroad until further orders.<br />
It also restrained Netflix and Amazon from uploading or screening 'Jhund'.<br />
<br />
T-series and Nagraj Manjule moved the Telangana High Court to dismiss the trial court`s injunction orders. A division bench on October 19 dismissed their petition.<br />
<br />
Subsequently, TSeries and Manjule filed Special Leave Petitions (SLPs) in the Supreme Court. Kumar had planned to write and direct the multilingual movie tentatively titled 'Slum Soccer' on the life of Akhilesh, who was born in slums of Nagpur and was addicted to drugs. However, his passion for football changed his life and he went on to lead India in the Homeless World Cup.<br />

The filmmaker claims to have registered the story and script with the Telangana Cinema Writers Association on June 11, 2018.<br />

An FIR has been filed by a BJP MLA in Maharashtra against the show's host Amitabh Bachchan and the makers for allegedly hurting Hindu sentiments.<br />

In a complaint filed in Latur, Abhimanyu Pawar has demanded that strict action must be taken against the makers and the superstar for a question that was asked on Friday's Karamveer special episode.<br />

Abhimanyu Pawar, BJP legislator from Ausa in Latur district, in a complaint to Latur SP Nikhil Pingle said action should be taken against Bachchan and Sony Entertainment Television over a question asked during Friday’s Karamveer special episode.</p>

<p>“There was an attempt to insult Hindus and create discord between Hindus and Buddhists who have been living in harmony,” Pawar tweeted, posting a copy of his two-page letter to the police official.<br />
<br />
Friday's episode had social activist Bezwada Wilson and actor Anup Soni in the hot seat. Bachchan asked them the following question worth Rs 6.40 lakh.- "On 25th December 1927, Dr B R Ambedkar and his followers burned copies of which scripture? "<br />
<br />
The options that were given were: (A) Vishnu Purana (B) Bhagavad Gita, (C) Rigved and (D) Manusmriti.<br />
<br />
Bachchan, as the host, explained “In 1927, Ambedkar condemned the ancient Hindu text Manusmriti to ideologically justify caste discrimination and untouchability and burned its copies.”<br />
<br />
In his FIR, Pawar pointed out that all the four options given were related to Hindu religion. "It is clear that the motive behind this question was to hurt the sentiments of Hindus,” Pawar said in his police complaint.</p>

<p>“This question spreads the message that Hindu religious scriptures are meant for burning and triggers enmity between Hindus and followers of Buddhism,” said Pawar in his complaint.<br />

The question also annnoyed a few on Twitter who accussed the makers for running 'leftist propaganda' through the show.<br />
Filmmaker Vivek Agnihotri shared a clip from on Twitter, claiming KBC was “hijacked by Commies”.<br />
<br />
“Innocent kids, learn this is how culture wars are won. Its called coding,” he tweeted. Some demanded a boycott of the show.<br />
<br />
Neither Bachchan nor Sony Television, on which the show is aired, have reacted to the FIR so far.</p>

Two more flights with migrant workers will take off on Thursday, said sources close to the actor adding that he wanted to book a train for the migrants but the logistics did not work out.<br />

The flights were 'organised' on Bachchan's directive by his close aide Rajesh Yadav, managing director of his production company AB Corp Ltd.<br />

The flights took off from Mumbai for Allahabad, Gorakhpur and Varanasi on Wednesday morning with 180 passengers in each, the sources said.<br />

Earlier Bachchan had also sent 10 buses for 300 migrants to reach their villages in UP. The buses went to Lucknow, Allahabad and other places in UP. The buses were flagged off by Yadav on behalf of the superstar and was done in partnership with with the dargahs in Mahim and the Haji Ali.<br />

Bachchan's magnanimity evoked a wave of gratitude from the poor migrant workers reaching home free of cost in flights.<br />

Earlier in the week, actor Sonu Sood too had arranged a special flight to send 180 Assamese migrants home. Last month, he helped 177 workers stuck in Kerala to fly home to Odisha.<br />

Sood in fact has been hailed as a hero amid the migrant crisis during the lockdown. The actor so far has arranged buses and helped around 18,000-20, 000 people reach their home in states such as Odisha, Bihar, Uttar Pradesh and Jharkhand.<br />

<p>“MY concert at Wembley Stadium .. first ever by Indian .. I took Sridevi, Aamir, &nbsp;and SALMAN for their first concert .. 70,000 people .. historic !! This is the Wembley Stadium before it was rebuilt and altered .. you see the altered now often on Premier League Football,” he captioned the post.</p>

<p>Amitabh Bachchan recently took to his blog to update fans that he had a discussion on cinema and content with his director and his co-star from 'Brahmastra'.</p>

<p>The megastar spoke with Ranbir Kapoor and Ayan Mukerji on Sunday at his Mumbai home.</p>

<p>Big B shared the details from their meeting on his official blog and wrote, "Time spent with Ayan and Ranbir to talk about Brahmastra and to discuss film, content and cinema. The young have some very special gifts and thoughts."</p>

<p>He further added, "..it is always a delight to be in their company .. to listen to drift in their modern outlooks and to be able to put across the point of 50 years in the Industry, its time changes and its development into the most powerful tools of influence..."</p>

<p>Brahmastra, a three-part fantasy series, will see Amitabh Bachchan and Ranbir Kapoor alongside Alia Bhatt and Mouni Roy.</p>

<p>Few know that it was the trailblazer of New Wave cinema in India, the 'revolutionary' Mrinal Sen who discovered India's most famous voice in films and commercials. It happened long ago when Amitabh was no Big B but a “bachcha”, as Mrinalda says, desperate for a break in films.&nbsp;</p>

<p>The year was 1969. Sen was in Bombay to edit 'Bhuvan Shome', which he had finished shooting in Bhavnagar. He once went over to the house of his friend and script-writer, K A Abbas, who had then started work on 'Saat&nbsp;Hindustani'. Abbas was seated amidst a motley group from which he was to pick his cast and crew.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Sen's visit was to find a good voice as the narrator of his film and, he told Abbas that he would like a new voice.&nbsp;</p>

<p>One “lambu” stood up and told Sen “Ami Bangla jaaney” (I know Bengali). Sen told “the boy” his Bengali was bad but his voice&nbsp;good, and good enough for a Hindi narration. The tall boy took on the assignment with the consent of Abbas.&nbsp;</p>

<p>After the voice over was done, Sen said he could not pay much. The boy said he didn't want payment because he did not do it for money. Sen insisted and paid him. The boy was eager to know whether his name would appear in the film. Sen assured him it will.&nbsp;</p>

<p>The boy’s name was Amitabh Bachchan. “But, don't mention Bachchan in the title, put only Amitabh,” he pleaded. Sen agreed.&nbsp;</p>

<p>In the credit titles of Mrinal Sen’s 'Bhuvan Shome' – the film that launched the parallel movement in Hindi cinema -- the voice-over artiste’s name “Amitabh” appears last. &nbsp;</p>

<p>This is, perhaps, the only film in which the Bachchan name figures at the end and not in full. My eye did not catch this detail when I saw the film in 1970s. Nor did I register the narrator’s baritone voice — heard for less than five minutes at the beginning and end of the film — that was to become famous and so familiar.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Sometime later, the director and his voice-over artiste met in Calcutta and went to a function at the film journalists’ association. There, on seeing Amitabh, a reporter asked Sen, “Is he your next hero?” Sen liked the idea but had to find a role that suited him. Amitabh himself was keen to act in Sen’s films, and Sen did consider casting him in Interview. Amitabh too would have liked the role, except that Sen wanted an ordinary looking person. “And Amitabh was a striking personality”.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Sen told me that “the boy” remembers all this. Some years ago he corrected a critic that the first voice-over he did was for 'Bhuvan Shome', and not for Satyajit Ray’s 'Shatranj ke Khiladi' in 1983. He also said that I paid him Rs 500. “Amitabh does not remember. It was only Rs 300”.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Sen told me this story when I last met him in 2002 during a retrospective of his films at Delhi's India International Centre; and, I made it a point to pay attention to the unforgettable voice.&nbsp;<br />

The 75-year-old actor, who met renowned filmmaker Christopher Nolan on Saturday in Mumbai to discuss about film preservation and restoration, said the cause deserves serious consideration and it is important that people from the film industry across the globe come together to save the medium.<br />

Nolan is in India&nbspon a three day trip along with visual artist Tacita Dean to promote the cause of film preservation and restoration.<br />

"Prominent dignitaries from the world of cinema gathered here in round table to debate and ascertain the importance of film heritage and its preservation. The word film has suddenly lost its charm for there does not seem to be any need to shoot films on film. It's all digital now.<br />
<br />
"It was known as the 'film industry', they were known as 'film stars'. So in the complete absence of that medium and that product, it would be quite in order to call ourselves 'robotic genes' or words of similar sound -- 'digi act' or 'digi digi'-- It would be an issue that would need consideration," Bachchan wrote on his blog.<br />

The actor said celluloid film is the "original format" and it is necessary to bring it back into the business.</p>

"It (film) had greater aesthetic value, and its preservation, an essential for posterity of having an original, than one that has been manufactured digitally. Digital is a derivative of the original film print so how would you feel if a xerox copy of a Picasso were to be up at a museum for attention and appreciation. Film is the original, digital format is not and in time to come this format may retire too," he added.<br />
